Radio waves are good for a planet or even one solar system, but as for interstellar communications, they are useless. That’s why huge orbital hyperdimensional communication complexes were build all over inhabited space. But there are only few of them, so demand is very high. You need to wait for days or sometimes weeks to send a message. It’s also expansive. So in many cases it’s easier to send a post ship especially when the distance isn’t large. And the best choice is unmanned drone. Manned ships have so many systems to protect people: oxygen recuperation, thermal control, radiation protection, finally cockpit. Drone doesn’t need this. It can be lighter and faster. Moreover, it can choose faster hyperspace routes, that could be dangerous for a man. For example, this H-Link WF-15 drone is 3 times faster than any piloted vehicle. It has short range hyperdimensional antenna to contact another drones in nearest solar system, so WF-15 can be also used to establish local relay network.
