NOTES & LDD FILES: Here is the LDD file for version 1 (above): http://www.moc-pages...1466873891m.lxf It is based heavily on set 4888 and the sub Nautilus from the 1950's movie version of "20,000 Leagues under the Sea". This is version 3 of the sub's LDD file: submarine version two LDD file This model (v3) was more inspired by the modern subs from 1990's film "The Hunt for Red October" than the Nautilus, though it still retains the large porthole. It features an enlarged conning tower and revised engine room. I also moved the tower four studs closer to the front of the sub. Both models are able to be built in real life. Last weekend was my Norwegian LUG's annual event, PĆ„ Kloss Hold. This year we held a contest where we each built a 16x16 section of a beach (within some standard parameters). So, I was thinking about making a dolphin in technic (I've got no experience in "real" LEGO what-so-ever, and it's got no functionality either), and my first concern was how I should make the tail. For those of you who don't know how a dolphin swims check this youtube video If I have to build one, I want to make it function like the real one. I was thinking about using two motors for the tail, one motor for the jaws, and two motors for the head. There's no problem in fitting it all, it just depends on the size. But the tail has left me wondering; I want it to go up and down like the real one, which requires a lot of links. If I have to use one motors for up/down and one motor for left/right, then how would you combine all those links to work fluidly? Is it even possible? -
The Monodon Class transport ship is ideal for the migration of large groups of individuals across the solar system. With its massive fuel tank in the rear and large amount of cargo space along the spine, few ships are better for long star voyages. Though well equipped to detect and transfer information due to the sizeable frontal sensor array, the lack of armaments makes the addition of escort ships alongside these behemoths a common sight. My 20-odd hour entry to Simon's Sci-fi festival of SHIPtember. Based on this bit of <a href="http://benhassad.dev...eship-74260485" rel="nofollow">concept art</a> It falls in just over 110 studs in length. I had a lot of fun doing the front but began to run out of both bricks and time for the back. Still a better showing than glorified frame of last year. Apologies for the bad picture, I had to make do with a less than stellar camera and a sunny porch. Better pictures may be taken at a future post-September date.
