Now finally a new building. Nothing special, but my little bro (stepson) needed a prison for his castle. We have discussed in detail and are still discussing the fact that this building looks a bit too nice and might also be suitable for pirates 😉. The focus was not as much on the details as usual but more on stability, playability and reproducibility. As already indicated, the tower also has an interior. To open the tower, simply remove the roof. Afterwards you get an insight into the interior: Mainly consisting of 2 prison cells that are easy to open, an area for the prison master and a sleeping room for the guards. I'll be handing it over to my bro to play with soon and I'm slightly optimistic that it's stable enough. Aside from the small trees, it looks quite good at the moment. Meanwhile, I've also created the instructions and made them available on Rebrickable – as a Premium MOC, though. https://imgur.com/gallery/prison-tower-collage-EElB61K#7ai9nIVhttps://imgur.com/gallery/prison-tower-collage-EElB61K#7ai9nIV Feel free to take a look directly there if you'd like: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-219018/montymatte/prison-tower/#details And of course, thank you in advance for your feedback! See you soon :)

Hi all, I've finished a few tutorials and instructions over the last couple of months, and I wanted to share them with you in a single post. They're mostly for medieval builds, which is what I've been focusing on. To keep the post from getting overloaded with images, I've linked to the tutorials directly. It seemed like the best way, so I hope it's okay with everyone. Enjoy! (And I'd love to hear your feedback!) Instructions: (Wizard Hat) Fountain I was looking for the right pieces to create the water when I happened to find the wizard's hat. It's like fate - sometimes things just fall into place. https://www.instagram.com/p/DOJZOhHjGla/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-231712/montymatte/wizard-hat-fountain/#details Instructions: Small Boat It's nothing fancy, but hopefully it's helpful for some of you. https://www.instagram.com/p/DNQvWPPMffu/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-232061/montymatte/small-boat/#details Tutorial/Technique: Archway The special thing, besides the snot technique, is that the studs of the archway are visible from both sides. This ensures that the MOC looks attractive from all sides. (BTW. This is not a wall technique. The wall was only built to complete the tutorial https://www.instagram.com/p/DEdBAQSo9N0/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-207112/montymatte/techniquestutorials-archway/#details Tutorial/Technique: Half-timbered Wall Well suited for medieval buildings. The gaps around the macaroni tiles create a used look. Of course, this is just a tutorial and an idea of how to build something. Be creative and individual, and adapt it to your MOC. https://www.instagram.com/p/DENPmq8NxUq/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-205222/montymatte/tutorialtechniques-half-timbered-wall/#details Instructions: Acorn An ordinary acorn, which was built a few years ago for my Willow project. Decorative in my opinion. https://www.instagram.com/p/C9c3jEwoOrD/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-189742/montymatte/an-ordinary-acorn/#details Instructions: Mini Ents "Hroom, hm, come, my friends. The Ents are going to war. It is likely that we go to our doom. The last march of the Ents."..Hopefully you have fun with the instructions for my Mini Ents. They were once part of a LegoIdeas Challenge. Maybe you can expand the gang with your own creations. https://www.instagram.com/p/C7pAHiYo_WS/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== Instructions: Cow Cart (Ok...It's an ox!) More focused on design than playability. I particularly enjoyed incorporating the sausages and hats. https://www.instagram.com/p/C5-xdcqLcnO/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-181085/montymatte/cow-cart/#details Tutorial/Technique: Wall A little trickier than the roof (below), but you can do it! 💪 https://www.instagram.com/p/C5EU57lLlHk/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== Tutorials/Technique: (Cobblestone) Path A lot of bricks needed, but I think a nice result. https://www.instagram.com/p/C5eCD4_rz5A/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== Tutorials/Technique: Roof (This roof technique is expressly not mine. I found it on Flickr a few years ago) https://www.instagram.com/p/C4vvp3yL9I8/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== --- Well, that's all for now. I hope there's something in there for everyone! Talk to you all later. All the best, Tobi aka MM

The next installment in my "Deluxe" series, this time I have a bigger, badder version of the first ever Lego Castle set from 1979! Scaled up by 33% in all dimensions, this massive MOC retains all the features of the original set, but scaled-up in all dimensions and with numerous extra additions and details added, such as ladders, tables, food-stands, refreshments, weapon storage and more! Since it mainly uses yellow bricks, this thing turned out to be surprisingly cheap in terms of parts value! Instructions can be found here: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-221322/TommyProductionsInc/castle-deluxe-1979-yellow-castle/#details

Beyond the Wall: Maid's Hut I love the classic Castle era sets - whether new or old. However, this project grew with the intention of creating a medieval set with a slightly rougher design. I thought living near a city wall would be a suitable setting. On the one hand, it was important to me to have a detailed result and to include different building techniques. Of course, a positive mood should also be maintained. My story: Our little maid used to live in a simple hut outside the city. After her grumpy but good-natured father completed his very last service for the kingdom, she didn't want to stay alone. So she decided to make new friends in the city. Luckily, she was able to use some of the old components to build a small home on the wall. Her own little kingdom. Since then, she has experienced small and large adventures every day, no matter how difficult life is. She's a warhorse! And her sword is no longer made of wood ;) --- Finally, a few facts: approx. 1150 pieces, one minifigure and four animals (the frog is her best friend - he doesn't reveal anything). No stickers. I hope you're looking forward to the adventures of our little heroine - so I'm looking forward to your feedback and (if you like this project) your support on Bricklink (Bricklink Designer Program Series 5). "Whoso pulleth out this sword of this stone and anvil is rightwise king born of England." The Sword in the Stone is a 1963 animated movie based on the novel of the same name. It tells the story of a boy who is commonly just called Wart and would like to become a squire. After meeting the sorcerer Merlin, his life turns into a magical adventure - full of enchantments, catchy tunes (Higitus Figitus) and lots of comedy - especially by Archimedes, an Owl. Even if there are more successful ones: This is - next to another classic (Oo-De-Lally) - my favorite Disney movie. It's one of the reasons I've been interested in knights and fantasy since I was a child. Or was it the other way around? Who knows! I definitely still enjoy watching it today. This little MOC was once built for a contest - and now the instructions are available for free download on rebrickable. https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-163604/montymatte/the-sword-in-the-stone/#details Have fun with it! [Update] An updated version of the MEDIEVAL SPECTACULUM is now live on the Bricklink (Designer Program Series 5). The main change is the reduction in the number of parts by approximately 1000 pieces. You can see the result in the picture or directly on Bricklink: https://www.bricklink.com/v3/designer-program/series-5/1512/Medieval-Spectaculum --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear Eurobricks community, it’s time again! Like every year, locals are as excited as hobby knights and maids from all over the region: The Medieval Spectaculum at the Museum of History opens its doors! A festival where young and old can relive the Middle Ages. The narrow, cobbled streets are packed with lovingly and detailed designed market stalls and attractions. Heart of the event and central place is the old Museum of History - located in a restored building that is several hundred years old. Whether it was once a prison, a town hall or something else (no one knows for sure) in any case it is the city's favorite. It offers culture-loving visitors the opportunity to explore the medieval world, while the little ones invent their own knight stories in the outdoor area. Of course, under grandma’s supervision. [Front: The facades should be designed differently, as you can see in the pictures. In addition, the outdoor area should appear lively - highlighted by children playing under grandma's supervision, lots of plants and other details to explore.] [Inside: The interior was used as a homage to the Classic Castle era. For example, you can see this by the designed tiles on the upper floor. There are also a few smaller functions built in.] At the juggler's stage, spectators can admire some wonderful, more or less dangerous performances and watch the fireworks every evening. On the ship swing, children can prove that knights can also be great sailors. The Night Watch at the well loves to delight interested people with scary and funny anecdotes and to accompany them on a journey through time. (A well, a fire hydrant and a street lamp...his loyal, yapping companion obviously lives in a paradise) Finally, the market is a great place to stroll. In addition to the merchant with her (mainly wooden) replicas of medieval equipment, berry juice, wine and other delicacies can be bought from the winemaker. Archery and ax throwing skills can also be tested here. About my intention: While visiting a similar festival with friends and family, the idea was born that it'd be a great opportunity for a new building project. I found it challenging and fascinating at the same time to combine my favorite theme (=castle) with a modern touch (=city). A combination that is probably not that common and that hopefully many people can enjoy. For me personally it was a nice change. Examples of the modern touch are the fire hydrant, the bird house, wearing glasses, visitors dressed in modern clothes and much more. Of course, it was also important to me to incorporate a lot of details and maintain an own style. The interior of the museum in particular gave me the space to show my love for the classical (castle) era. About the project: As some of you probably already guessed It's submitted to the Bricklink Designer Program (Link below). As always, I built it physically first. It took several months from the first brick to the completion of the instructions. When I transferred it to digital, I was curious to see how many parts it has. In fact, I had to reduce and ended up using around 3800 parts. 12 minifigures and four animals are included. There are also some stickers for the first time: 17 pcs. with 14 different designs. Due to the amount of detail, it is probably more suitable as a display set, but some functions are also integrated. The sensible reduced range of parts was challenging, but could mostly be solved. --- Thank you for taking the time to look into this project. I hope you like it and I'm happy about any kind of support - that includes a vote, feedback... but also criticism! Otherwise, I'm glad that the Medieval Spectaculum is growing and that I still have a lot of ideas to expand the festival. Accordingly, see you soon. Link to BDP: https://www.bricklink.com/v3/designer-program/series-3/929/MEDIEVAL-SPECTACULUM-at-the-Museum-of-History (Ofc your support and a short comment greatly appreciated :)) Keep building while having fun! Remember what Bilbo used to say: “It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where you might be swept off to.” This scene is about the departure of the Hobbits and includes: - Meeting Merry and Pippin at Farmer Maggot's Fields - The hiding from the Ringwraiths in the hollow under a tree root - Escaping the Nazgul at the Bucklebury Ferry In addition to all the trees, plants and animals, a total of fourteen minifigures (including a skeleton Easter Egg) have been used. Wherever possible, I‘ve included my own interpretation - e.g. recognizable by the hut near the river. As is the case with larger buildings, I find it difficult to capture all the attention to details in a few pictures. Nevertheless, I hope that you’re able discover at least some of it BTW: This is actually an older build (about 7 years old). Unlike some others, I didn't disassemble it. Instead it has been updated with some more modern parts, colors and techniques. Thank you for your time - and I look forward to your feedback in the comments. Yours, Tobi aka MM

[Update] Ladies & Madmartigans, the Willow project on LEGOIdeas has recently been updated & reached almost 9.5k votes. You can find some pics of the upfate below this text & some more Willow creations in the in the comments. I'd also like to take this opportunity to say thanks for your great support and also as a last call. A vote for a goat! Link: Willow on LEGOIdeas Sincerley, Toni aka MM [Original Post] Dear Eurobricks community, as you are the biggest LEGO forum, I would like to "officially" present my current creation to you and release it for discussion. Briefly about me: I am a 36 years old German AFOL and fan of classic fantasy and sci-fi, from. I particularly like the castle (including LOTR) and pirates theme, but I also enjoy many other sets. About my creation: As a child of the 80's I grew up with classic fantasy movies and also the mentioned LEGO themes. So I wanted to build a creation that reflects both. This is the castle "Tir Asleen" from the movie Willow from 1988. Maybe some of you know the original or the trailer for the new series. Val Kilmer as Madmartigan is iconic to me personally. I wanted to build something that was more detailed than usual released sets - but a little less MOC-alike than possible. The idea was to add it to my fantasy film collection, but also let my little stepson play with it. Therefore, some game functions are also built in. I hope they are well represented in the pictures. But details from the film should not be underrepresented either. [deleted] [deleted] What do you think about the creation? - What do you like, what not? Where can I still improve something? Do you know the original movie? Do you recognize scenes? Which ones have I not sufficiently considered? BTW, there is also a small Easter Egg for all castle fans ;) The project is also posted on Ideas. This isn't meant to be a call, but I don't blame anyone who supports it secretly ;) https://ideas.lego.com/s/p:2083518f81ae404c88198126c5ad7868 I look forward to your feedback and thank you for your attention. One of my latest projects. For me it's simply called "The Gate" It started with the construction of the gate and then continued to grow. I’ve already presented some of the techniques on other social networks and had a lot of fun building the framework. Even though I couldn't capture all the details, I hope there's a lot to discover. I couldn't decide on one of the well-known factions (I love them all), but the the red hats were interesting. You can certainly see the result in the form of the gate guard. And also that some of them aren't the smartest ;) Maybe you can also guess who the real boss is in my mind. Anyway, it was fun to build and I look forward to your feedback. Also about how the project itself could continue. Keep building :) KR, Tobi/MM

Once again: I'd like to present one my latest project which is called "The Squire". The focus was not on a story, but rather the idea of what a squire has to do and how he lives helped me as inspiration. The whole creation consists of two buildings, two smaller submodels and some fences to mark out the playground. Let's start with some “lifestyle” pics: Even if it's not a specific adventure, there is still a bit of story left to tell. At the beginning you should get to know our protagonists... The squire has not yet understood the seriousness of the situation - he is supposed to become a knight after all. A little too immature and preoccupied with other things, he does his things quite well. His cheerful nature certainly helps him. Just like the character of his master - the knight himself. A funny guy whose rank you wouldn't immediately notice. Despite his relaxed and very smart nature, he is a gifted swordsman. Everything else - apart from the knightly virtues - is the job of the old wise guy. With all his wisdom he would have to be almost 200 years old, the squire suspects. In addition to his cheerful nature, the maid is certainly the greatest support for our protagonist. He met her one day near the city wall. She is a warhorse and would certainly be a worthy knight at some point. Last but not least, Larry the ox should decide for himself what he wants to reveal about himself ;) --- That brings us to the buildings... Stable: The largest building of the project features a stable on the lower level - because animal care is part of a squire's duties. Next to the barn, a target is mounted on the tree, where the squire can improve his skills with a bow and arrow. Functions: The wall can be opened up to increase the space for (dis)playing. At the same time, you get an impression of the inside of the stable. The roof and some wall elements can also be removed and allow a deeper insight into some other tasks of a squire: A small kitchen in which he takes care of the dirty dishes and a classroom to teach him the necessary knowledge a good knight needs. --- Hut & Wall: In my story the squire lives on the knight's manor - indicated by the wall. The future protector of the kingdom usually sleeps in the small blue hut. In addition to find a good balance between many and too many details, I had a lot of fun creating the tower facade and the different roof variants. The technique of the archway was also challenging, but in my opinion the result was worth the time. Functions: On the one hand, the hut can be opened up and you can take a look at the interior. As announced, the squire's sleeping place. This also increases the area for playing or displaying. On the other hand, one wall of the tower can be removed and the pantry is revealed. --- Submodels: Helping his master put on his armor is one of the services in a squire's life and was also the idea behind the first of the two smaller submodels. Since it is a rather simple task and our knight prefers to talk about his heroic deeds (and love affairs), our squire masters it without any problems / Weapon skills also need to be practiced, as you can see in the second smaller creation. Be it with a sword and shield or as a knight's supporter in mounted combat with a lance. The dummies and suitable equipment help him to simulate such situations --- All in all, I had a lot of fun building it - as usual, first in real life (as it can be seen in the pictures above), then transferring it to Studio. With 3,000+ parts it was challenging, but apart from the minifigures (and Larry) hardly any compromises had to be made. Of course, lots of details mean that a relatively large number of bricks are needed. But if you take the dimensions and functions into account and also the attractive result, I'm absolutely satisfied with it. Dimensions (set up as in the first picture): Width: 15.5" (39.3cm) / Length: 32.5" (82.4cm) / Height: 9.3" (23.7cm) - 3,420 parts The project also takes part in the current Bricklink Designer program. Of course, I’d be very happy if you support the project there too (log in, click & comment). Link: https://www.bricklink.com/v3/designer-program/series-7/2526/The-Squire (More background information about the project can be found there or via the posts on social media) Thanks for your attention so far & see you soon Your feedback is sincerely appreciated!

Hey guys, well after 7 months of filming I have finally finished my feature film Battle of Kerak. There's some new techniques I learned , chroma key, adding in special effects, this was a lot of fun and and it adds to the movie. Things I don't like are I filmed 24fps which on a lot of scenes I didn't take enough photos so the animation looks a little choppy and too fast. When I started filming back in Oct I started off using a logitech C-920 webcam and sony movie studio 9.0. and the capture mode. Then in Jan. of this year I upgraded to a Nikon d3300 which I then was using Digicam for about 70% of this film. By the end of the film I finally upgraded to Dragonframe which is great and helps out alot! I love how you have instant playback and onionskin to help out. The film battle of Kerak was inspired by Kingdom of heaven, and the show Arn. I decided to make my own story of the film and here it is. Please comment, like ,subscribe or just simply watch the film. Thanks guys and hope you enjoy Youtube Link Battle Of Kerak Film -Matt-

My latest creation, a new home for my Lion Knights. I used different techniques I have seen around here. I kept the entire back of the castle open. With hopes that someday I will be able to buy more bricks and finish the backside of the castle, I would like to complete the keep and tower, add a back wall and add another tower. I am also building a town to sit in front of the castle. Enjoy!
