The next part of our collab for CH IV. (Although this is not an entry, but just a freebuild.) Prior builds: In The Captain's Cabin Pieces Of A Puzzle Following builds: Undercover for the Final Piece Montoya was not at ease. This tiny little vessel was dancing up and down the waves, rushing close-hauled towards Mooreton bay in a most haphazard fashion, and his stomach was not agreeing with him. "Tell me again why I find myself on this fragile little death-trap. The Athena seemed a perfectly fine transport…" he gasped. "The Athena would have taken day and night to tack in here against the wind. And as I am certain you are aware, Ferguson signalled for me to report on board the Ironsides without a moments delay!" Cooke shouted against the wind. As they had approached Mooreton Bay, the lookout had spotted the horrible old Ironsides in the port and, moments later, the signal flags requiring Cooke to report on board for orders from the Admiralty. And for a naval officer, nothing was more important than orders from the Admiralty. "But surely, my friend, this haphazard pace is both dangerous and unwarranted?" Cooke laughed, thrilled with their speed and the prospect of new orders: "Tide and wind waits for no man, my friend!" The Dolfijn The socalled "death-trap" was a small Altonian privateering sloop named the Dolfijn, captured off Tiberia, as it was attacking some local fishermen. It had proven a flyer close-hauled, and Cooke had decided to keep it as a tender to the Athena, a decision he could never have been happier about right now. "But have no fear, doctor - in a moment we will be moored and you will have firm ground under your feet once more!" Cooke knew the doctor as something of a landlubber. "And while you go meet Major Allcock and discuss your beetles, I will meet with Ferguson and find out what orders the admiralty has seen fit to give me! And you may let the good Major know that I will seek him out at first possible convenience." he said, letting the sloop come up against the wind, steering her for the wharf at the customs office. Hello everyone :) I recently finished up the project that I've been working on: The Battle of Kashyyyk. A battle from episode III that was so short, but still grabbed my attention. Wookiees lead the charge What's a Star Wars moc without an Indiana Jones Easter egg? ;) Anything that you like/don't like or would have done something differently? Please feel free to share! Here's my entry to the small category of the PTV contest. The pirates used the cliff as a convenient method of murder...On the ground below, spears served to impale any enemies thrown off the cliff.... Of course, occasionally a body might miss the spears... This was a fun build; it was interesting to try building with a size restriction (which I don't normally do). I've been slowly working on this build for over a month, and I'm quite satisfied with how it turned out, especially the cliff. The idea of the blood flowing into the water is something I've been wanting to do for a while (although it was a last-minute addition). I don't actually have any pirates sets, so making the minifigures was pretty tricky; I think they look reasonably decent, though. Enjoy!

Coming out of an experiment of how to create a decent beach design, the beach suddenly found itself crowded - somehow looking interesting. So, here it is, for all you other island builders: The "Saturday Afternoon Pirate Beach": It's not the best day for Emmet: .. but luckily it was just a joke: :pir-grin: Other beings enjoy the beach and the fruit it brings: ... but LOTR-guys definitely have a hard time on PIRATE BEACH: Enjoy, and have a nice weekend, and I would be happy to read your comments. Hi all, I've been wanting to build a Lego city for a very long time, ever since I started watching YouTube videos on people's cities and thinking 'I wish I could do that', then I moved into my own house and the dream became a reality! It took a while between deciding to do it and actually doing it, mainly because I had no idea how to do it and which route to take. I wasn't too keen on having an 'urban' looking city, nothing against them (and the majority of those I've seen are incredible) but I wanted something more cheery and relaxing. In the end, I decided to model my city on a Spanish holiday destination where I used to go when I was younger; it had everything I wanted to build: beach, walkway, palm trees, restaurants, and lots more little bits and pieces that'd make for an interesting build. For my first build I wanted to do something relatively simple (which later turned out NOT to be simple) so I chose to do the 'hub' of the whole scene: the beach. http://s1373.photobu...html?sort=3&o=0 The wall was the tricky (or time consuming) part - initially I build the whole structure with a one stud overlap, and meant to form a 'lip' on the top of the wall for baseplates to be slotted nicely on top and held together with tiles. This was all well and good until I realised it would be impossible to move the finished town if I kept it in that layout, so I changed to a modular method: I plan to raise the whole city to be level with the walls of the beach, and connect it all using technic pins. It's a costly method, and maybe a bit overkill, but I'll be the easiest way to allow the town to be mobile. I'm wanting to finish the beach before I start work on another main part, and need a mountain of tan 4 x 4 plates and trans light blue 1 x 2 plates, the latter of which is very expensive for its size (maybe my luck will come in and it'll appear on a pick-a-brick wall...) but my side project for this - the part that I need help with - is the furniture for the beach: lilos, deck chairs, umbrellas, tables etc. If anyone's made or seen anything like that (or has any suggestions of what else could go on the beach), I'd very much enjoy seeing it! How better to relax on a summer afternoon than with a burger, fries, and a drink, overlooking a sandy beach? This build was a bit of a challenge, as it's actually two different parts, so I had to do quite a lot of experimentation with the camera angle, height of the balcony, distance, etc (and in the end, I ended up using one of the first photos...). SNOT sand and water can be pretty tough too, especially since I didn't have quite as much blue as I had hoped. Hope you enjoy it, comments welcome!

Hi everyone, here is my latest creation, the Cocoa hotel. I got my inspiration from old postcards showing hotels and other buildings in bright holiday settings. The postcards are perhaps a little unrealistic but definitely bold, fun and there's always a blue sky! I chose to base the build mostly on the Carlyle hotel which still exists to this day as I had the bricks to achieve it. It's not an exact copy, most reference material to the colour shows it's been changed several times, so I chose to go with beach colours which I had a decent amount of. I have made many changes to the design but wanted to keep the 3 vertical columns as a focal point. I wanted to do a little more landscaping and make the build with more depth as opposed to height like my previous building 'Avenue Saint-Jacques'. I liked the idea of having a drop-off driveway and a large veranda but this is not necessarily an accurate reflection of what you may see in reality. I never wanted to leave it empty so have furnished all 3 floors. Downstairs there is a lobby, lounge and bar. Upstairs has 4 suites with individual bathrooms. [pid][/pid] 253C Built for the Jolly Roger Contest on Forbidden Cove. I've been wanting to build a coast scene with cliffs for a while now, the JRC gave me the incentive I needed to finally do it. The pirates had just dug up a large cache of treasure when a Redcoat ship spotted them from the sea. The ship quickly dispatched two rowboats full of soldiers to attack the pirates. Will the pirates be able to successfully defend their new-found treasure? Or will the soldiers capture the treasure for His Majesty? Check out more pictures here: link C&C appreciated

This is actually the culmination of several builds as they came together to form a whole scene. Unfortunately, we've not decided where this will all live in the new layout so for the moment Godwins Hollow is without a beach party. You can see more here, here, and here.
