  1. Last two weeks were quite expensive :) I managed to secure the last retail copy of the 8295 - Telescopic Handler which was in the country, as well as 8265 - Front Loader. I also bought a lot through the classifieds which included 8653 - Ferrari Enzo, 8436 - Truck, 8421 - Mobile Crane, 8285 - Tow Truck, 8272 - Snowmobile and two copies of the 8145 - Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano, not to mention a whole load of other smaller Technic and racer sets
  2. Excellent review there paanjang16, I had my eye on that set because of it's unusual B-Model, however the main model looks superb as well. I also did not have 8421 when the model was announced, I however managed to get one by chance recently. In any case I think I'll be getting this one as well :)
  3. I'm located in South Africa. I also build sets as opposed to MOCs, so I'd definitely say I'm a beginner ;)
  4. Amazing review, as always! This set truly looks epic and will be an instant buy when it becomes available here, especially with all of the power functions
  5. You Sir, are insane. Another awesome MOC to add to your extensive list. However I think you need to build a bigger version and use Technic mini-figs as the players P.S. I'm still impatiently awaiting the completion of the Reventon... Have you put that build on hold for now?
  6. You can make a non-pf version of just about everything. PF are not the be all and end-all, take 8880 for example - one of the finest technic sets and no electronics in site
  7. Here is the link to the original topic of the contest (in French): http://www.setechnic.com/Forum/topic3138.html I was following the contest quite closely as I had wanted to do the same thing sometime ago. Interesting to see the different interpretation of everyone.
  8. If you choose one of the individual sets, in the small table at the top right of the page there is a link "More Information"
  9. OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG And there was great rejoicing! Thanks Eric for all of your amazing work. The only downside here is that I will not get any work done today
  10. As always an amazing MOC. That bucket is seriously sexy and the elevating cabin is a stroke of genius. Shame about the busted gear wheel though.
  11. I do believe Eric is still working on this most awesome resource, however there has been a hiatus of sorts. Refer to the thread he posted here: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?...st&p=617828 I'm sure I am one of many people who are (im)patiently awaiting the latest update!
  12. Indeed, many fond memories of putting that steering system together for the simple MOCs I'd make as a youngster.
  13. My opinion is probably biased by extreme nostalgia but for me it has to be 8880. 8880 was released just before my dark ages and was on display at a toyshop near my house. I'd cycle past that shop everyday just to lust after the built model on display in the front window. At the time I had only a few small sets and the sheer scale of this model blew me away. Anyway, to cut a long story short, after many years I got hold of the set and was not disappointed in anyway. The set still managed to exceed the lofty expectations I had after so many years of coveting it. Subsequently I had acquired 8868 and 8480 but somehow these don't hold the same mystique as 8880 (I actually still have to build 8480, so this opinion may be subject to change).
  14. The title is a little misleading as it sounds like official idea books being released by TLG. Perhaps it should read "Unofficial Idea Guide Books".
  15. Awesome. Followed the development of this baby via your facebook page. As always wonderfully taken photographs, I'll certainly be reading your write up on your website when I get home.
  16. No love for this yet? I really like the looks of this baby, perfectly captured the look of a Jeep Wrangler If I had the parts I'de definitely be constructing this bad boy
  17. Seriously sexy! I'd love to see yellow swapped out for the green (may favorite of the available colour schemes) used in the game.
  18. I found some really well taken photographs of this set from another site (here). You can get these and other higher resolution pics by hitting the link.
  19. Very impressive functions there I wonder if anyone has modified the Combine Harvester released by TLG to include such realistic functions?
  20. Very nice MOC indeed. The red is a nice change from the usual "construction vehicle yellow" I'd love to see a video of this bad boy in action ;)
  21. I saw this a few days ago. Certainly an amazingly, sexy MOC
  22. I also happened to receive this set this weekend, virtually MISB (the seals on the side of the box were loose, however everything inside was untouched). This little beast a joy to build and even more so to play with! As indicated by Eric on the technicopedia page, it's crammed with functions for a medium-sized set. I think I love it even more than my son does
  23. Apologies for the thread grave-digging, but I received a copy of this set over the weekend (together with a 8858 Rebel Wrecker - yes that thread will be raised too) and just had to add my praise for how awesome this set is. The functionality on this puppy is truly mind-boggling. I was really pleased that I managed to get everything working correctly in one build (I had no such luck when I built the Airtech Claw Rig) You mentioned how you thought that the set looked ugly, however I think that the aesthetics of the set are rather nice. It pretty much looks like the real thing, which is a real feat given it's made from good old beams I believe this set encapsulates what Technic should be all about in terms of functionality (yes 8264 Hauler, I'm looking at you).
  24. I recently got the 8264 Hauler and the part TLG used for the engine looked bionicle like I'm sure that bionicle parts can add something different to MOCs but I was really disappointed to see TLG using them in their own sets, especially instead of putting a functioning feature in the set.
  25. Perhaps I should clarify, the sets I got were stored assembled and then chucked into one big box. I expect that members here would be a little more careful with the storage of their sets The Space Shuttle still had batteries in the battery box (hopefully I can get rid of the leaked battery fluid on the contact points of the battery box ), so I expect the reason why the gear and pin look so bad was that something placed pressure on one of the battery box buttons resulting in placing stress on the gear & pin.\ Anyway I do intend on replacing the necessary parts via bricklink. I just need time to go through all the sets I got (there were about 10 in total) so I can place a few large orders instead of several small orders.
