  1. Entry 1: Princess Tamina: someone get Disney's movie director immediately, Joe Carioca got the wrong door again. Entry 2: Prince Dastan / Jake Gyllenhaal: Hey Carioca, how many times do I have to tell you that I am not the gaucho boy hunting the wild ostrich and that this ain't the movie set for The Three Caballeros.
  2. I seriously doubt it. Either, they will make new Indiana Jones sets when/if they decide to make a new movie or they will introduce their own adventurer's line again. Also, there seems to be a Lego Adventurers movie on DVD this spring. See the side of each new 2010 set where this is announced. Could it be easier to create a new line of products alongside their own DVD...
  3. The Bossk head makes an excellent Batman Killer-Croc villain minifig.
  4. I voted "other color". To me it looks like caramel.
  5. I am not too fond of this minifg. Themewise, I have no use for zombies and death eaters like those that were introduced in the Harry Potter line of products. On the other hand, how many figs did you Ambassadors get? Each day, we get new sneak previews of certain figs that we can buy later (around June of this year). Did you get them all or what is exactly happening with these early releases?
  6. I was in the Lego Store in Oberhausen (Germany) last week and they had them there as well. Since I had other priorities such as filling my free Christmas PAB boxes, the 10196 Grand Carousel and the Star Wars book, I did not buy any of them.
  7. It looks real. An all girl / female minifig pack. Of course, the quality will be a bit of an issue since most of these vintage minifig collections are of Chinese origin. See the colour differences in the classic mail man (torso too dark) and the pirate with the anchor tattoo on his chest (pink vest colour instead of brown). If TLC is about to release this set, there will be an abundance of rare figs such as the aforementioned ninja princess and the classic forestwoman. Fortunately, it is easy to see the difference between a re-issued fig and the real thing by checking the brackets inside the torso. The new torsos all have these larger more modern brackets while the classic figs have smaller brackets.
  8. And the Mecixan has a green fedora instead of a sombrero and an unmarked cape as well. The Greek hoplite has a classic round shield in metallic gold... I wonder if that part will be used again after such a long time. I am quite happy to see that we will get a few Adventurers style figs such as the "Dr. Kilroy" archeologist and the pharao. Great add-ons for the classic Adventurers Egypt line.
  9. They were in the Pirate tic-tac-toe sets and some of the Castle and Pirates battle packs. There is a whole thread about the inferior plastic. See also the banner below this post. It's a situation many AFOLs are worried about. Children probably do not care too much. For them Lego is just a playing toy while AFOLs tend to be more picky about quality issues and obvious differences in the ABS plastic.
  10. Great vignette that captures the actual scene quite well. The decision to hide in a refigerator was smart thinking when he noticed that the "weather conditions" were changing and the artificial people began to melt.
  11. Café Corner has at least been for sale in Lego Stores for 2 years and Green Grocer is still available although I think that set will be gone soon with Fire Brigade and Grand Emporium as worthy replacements.
  12. These are children's toys and TLC is aiming primarily at them with these new figs. They encourage children to buy the figs one by one and trade duplicates at school with their friends which would keep the cost for the kids limited i.e. they would not need to buy the whole box at once but can gradually add to their collection by buying at low cost and trading and swapping unwanted figs with friends. Also, at these prices, the figs make great small gifts for birthdays, etc. Basically this is the same with collecting football cards, etc. You will get double cards for sure and the easiest way to get rid of them is to trade them off at school. Unofrtunately, the majority of the AFOL community - unlike me - is far ahead and not at school anymore. In order to trade figs, one need to contact other AFOLs or buy wanted + sell unwanted items on eBay or BL instead. This will also result in people having to pay for shipping and handling costs which will increase the purchase price for the fig. If you buy the figs in the store, there will be one flat price for each fig. On BL and eBay prices will reflect rarity and desirability for the figs and the accessories. For example army builders like the Greek / Trojan soldiers and their armory will be in demand and command higher prices. Same goes or figs and one of a kind accessories that are unique so far (i.e. pom-poms, syringe, clown's horn, black afro hair, sombrero, etc.).
  13. The Wampa Cave set contains yet another Castle Fantasy Era style skeleton with those ugly straight arms.. Oh well, I can always toss it aside and replace it with a classic "wobbly arms" skellie.
  14. Since he is talking about a new Republic Gunship, it could be that he refers to the newer 7676 Republic Attack Gunship from the Clone Wars series and not the earlier 7163 Republic Gunship. Opening a newly bought 7163 to build it first hand is an "expensive decision".
  15. Yes, the packaging is in both the German and Dutch 2010 catalogue. But now that you mention it... it could be that these packages are "feel proof". They could be like those thin chocolate boxes that you can find in the local grocery store. If you press the package to feel what is inside, it gets crumpled. Imagine that you are going to buy a couple of these boxes and someone before you tried to determine which fig was inside... as a result many of these boxes might have indents and damages, etc... Let's hope for the best and if TLC decided to sell the figs in thin boxes, it would probably be wise to make a small hole in each box with a see-through piece of plastic so you can shake the box to see which sort of parts appear in front of the window. They did more or less the same with the gold C-3PO (small hole) although that fig came in a white plastic bag.
  16. Another option would be to sack the pilot from the aircraft for reckless flying in a crowded area.. Chill and have fun rebuilding!
  17. And for instance Nepalese and Indian people can be made from the Adventurers Orient Expedition sets. The minifig parts from 7414 Elephant Caravan and 7418 Scorpion Palace for instance make excellent Indiana Jones style Indian people with some minor changes. while the figs from 7417 Temple of the Mountain make excellent Nepalese citizens.
  18. Computer-rendered or not, I still like' em! I also think that the figs will be complete minifigs and not randomly mixed parts. Lego might get into trouble if many people need to order small pieces online continuously to get a complete minifig. Imagine small kids being disappointed and crying if they get a 2nd or 3rd part of the same kind and not one they were waiting for. Mothers get upset by that and feel that they and their little ones are somewhat deceived by the images on the box in the store. They will keep calling Lego and complain about missing parts and things not being offered as they expected and that TLG can not expect people to keep buying these bags time after time until they find what they are looking for, etc., etc. You can imagine that this is not something TLG would risk... For kids, it is also easier to trade and swap complete figs instead of just parts. I think that is what Lego wants, to set up some sort of swapping and trading system between kids and have them gather a complete collection of minifigs by buying these bags and trading off duplicates with their friends in school. This will most likely entice other kids to do the same: buy these bags!
  19. Nothing today, but yesterday I came home with a 7626 Jungle Cutter (on sale for € 29,99), a 7990 Cement Mixer and a 7890 Ambulance. I was surprised to find a 2006 set new in box in a toy store. Must have been on the shelf for ages. Box is still in good shape with onyl minor creasing on the front. The mail man just left after bringing a small box with Daily Mirror promo sets that I ordered including 30000 Doctor with Car, 30001 Fireman's Car, 30003 Steam Roller, 2x 4899 Tractor (with a tan fedora) and 5625 Police 4 x 4.
  20. My first ever castle set was 677 Knight's Procession. I got it as a present from my mom and even remember in which store she bought it! I played a lot with it and I still have the set complete with all original pieces that belong to it and with original instructions. Unfortunately, I probably demolished and threw away the box as a kid...
  21. There is a discussion going on about it at the moment in a thread elsewhere on the forum. Nothing has been officially announced yet, but I think Lego will slowly bring Indiana Jones to an end. You can buy what you can find in stores and what is available online through internet toy stores and Lego S@H. I happen to have an original Lego dealer catalogue over here and the Indiana Jones line ain't part of the 2010 programme anymore. In other words, Lego dealers and merchants can not order these anymore based on the contents in the catalogue. When it comes to a licensed action theme, it is Prince of Persia from now on. Back to topic. Great design and a nice addition to the Indy sets we already know. One small remark: I think you should change Toht's head (you seem to have used a Luke Skywalker head) for a flesh Harry Potter head since after all, Toht is wearing glasses in every scene.
  22. Just check the polybag. It should say where the contents is from. As far as I know, TLC decided not to have standard minifig parts (such as the soldier's torso - see the banner below this post) made in China anymore due to inferior quality issues. However, I think they do still make certain special newly designed parts in China. To mention are the Toy Story figs from the Woody's Round-Up set, the green Alien heads (Toy Story), some of the SW headgear (the grey pointed mowhawk one from Thi-Sen in the Freeco Spider set for instance - box reveals that certain parts were made in China) and perhaps also the Mola Ram (Indiana Jones) headgear. The China made parts seem to be packed in separate small see-through sealbags. Since this special minifigure collection contains some special never seen before new parts as well (cheerleader pom pom's, clown's hairpiece and horn, pre-historic savage's hair and his club, etc.) I would not be surprised if those were made in China after all.
  23. Yes, and shortly before the worldwide credit crunch that hit us... My BSBs have been undergoing the same treatment. Water with some added soap for washing dishes (called Dubro - a brand from Procter & Gamble) a tooth brush and a towel for drying the bricks did the trick for me. For me it is a way to forget about school etc. and to just sit and relax. It helps taking away some of the pressure one has to cope with from time to time... exams for instance.
  24. It is limited although they could have made the US army convoy with the Russian troops or the Russian style Jeeps and army trucks that were used in the jungle (the amphibious vehicle is already part of a set), both ideas are based on the Temple of the Crystal Skull movie. Or the 2 civil cars that were used in the chase of Mutt and Indy on a motorcycle near the University campus (KGB in the first one and FBI in the other). Another vehicle would be the German tank used in the Last Crusade (has been mentioned before) or the German sub used in Raiders of the Lost Ark although a genuine and fully equipped army vehicle fit for war might be a little too violent for TLG's taste (the Batman tank for instance is only based on fiction and not a "real" vehicle used in a war) and an unncecessary reference to WWII as well. Last suggestion is the black Mercedes staff car used in Raiders of the Lost Ark. Indy is chasing the truck with the ark and the black staff car drives in front of it. The car is driven by a German soldier with boss German Dietrich next to him and both Rene Belloq and German Gestapo agent Toht are in the back of it.
  25. Finally got myself the 7195 Ambush in Cairo set. Bought a couple since they make great parts packs. They arrived yesterday. My collection is now complete except for the Brickmaster Jeep in polybag and the ComicCon special edition case. I consider them nice collectables but these are not that important to me, especially since the cheapest new in polybag Brickmaster Jeep with the early Indiana Jones in leather jacket fig (it only appears this way in 12 sets ) costs $40 on BL .
