  1. thats the truck mod. i was wondering about the station. just ideas, or if anybody has done anything with it. dose anybody else feel like i do? thats its a week station?
  2. very nice lights! have you tried frosting one of the "clear heads"? to give it more of a soft light.. and, to keep the cost down have you thought of just buying the LED parts alone? not the lego version?
  3. I was wondering if anybody has done a MOD to this station? to make it a little "More" of a station? the '07 was a better station, but any good mods? pics?
  4. or maybe its a big trick! for all the people who just want straights! I say, collect all the '10 train sets now, or pay later!
  5. where did you see a 10/11 pdf? i hope a straight pack comes out. im not knocking the flex. its just not my favorite, and i do not want to see it replace the standard track... found the '11 PDF. the only train anything: shows straights in the pic, but only 8 curves 8 flex! its a straight conspiracy!!!!!!!
  6. agreed. the flex track does what it is designed to do. its great track, and works! but, i personally dont like it. I do use it. and it helps for sections, like you said, reverse loops etc... but i wish LEGO would come out with smaller track packs... 8 straights, 8 curves... simple and basic. and yes, the trains are very expensive. but i feel LEGO dose it on purpose. they could come out with just an engine if they wanted. Its just Trains (as a city extension) can not complete with the star wars line and what else is popular before city and trains... so, i cant see trains until '13 as well
  7. Agreed. It moves around when the train goes by "as a section", it bumps when it goes over it as a "straight" piece. Not smooth at all. And for a kid, it takes away any problem solving. My son and I use it as a piece in between. It works good for that. I just want standard track, and not some problem solver. So we have to wait for 2012 for Lego trains? I will bet the "RC" Track is over!
  8. Has anybody heard if the trains will keep going in '11? Any new sets? Do we need to stock up now on track before the junk flex track takes over? 2010 was a good Lego train year!
  9. I disagree with most. The Emerald Night is a pain to get it to run smooth. and even then, its not very smooth. plus, you have to buy the track and all the controls. My vote is the Yellow Cargo train.
  10. i would image its all the parts that are in the new Yellow Cargo. and your tender can be a battery. PF lights can go into anything.
  11. If this can be done, what about a custom battery pack? creating our own smaller, cheaper recharge packs?
  12. I am sure a lot have done this. This is my mod to make it a 2 track station.
  13. it seams the 9v discussion will never die. my thoughts are it was popular when 9v was around, and popular now still. so it will be around. just as rare used collectibles. i prefer the newer PF/RC because you can buy track new. and you can do a reverse loop! :)
  14. narrow gauge is one of my favorites. but, why not make the normal lego track be narrow gauge and make the engines bigger? isnt the indy track really hard to find? why does lego not make the obvious things more easy to get.... :) that is a great gear box!!! you should make a vertical boiler locomotive, and use the PF as the boiler, make a casing of course.. but hide it in there... or a vertical climax...
  15. I would agree about the lego track. the sun will destroy it. I have been doing G scale (LGB) in the backyard since 1999. the tracks have been out there since 99. LGB uses plastic ties. the sun still gets them, but the plastic is designed for the sun. not lego track. that is made for indoor use. But, i have also seen guys who do O and HO scale outside.... so, its worth a shot. trains in the garden is the best!
  16. I am having lots of problems with my EN. Not one of the best lego sets. the problem with the front truck is its to light. so it splits the switches. i used a 2x2 brick under the coupler. helps a little. Also, on the front truck. it has rubber tires on it. which it should not. it should slide and not grab. if you take off the front truck and push it thru the switches, its rough and not smooth. Yes the front coupler falls off all the time. i was thinking about a technic pin and cutting off/sanding the top. have not done it yet. maybe this: into this (modified): or this:
  17. And it comes with out a piece of straight track.... What is going on with Lego!!!!!
  18. well, i was thinking "train only" buy sell. i dont do that era trains, but somebody does. with craigslist, just email them and ask if they would ship it, and paypal. most people do ebay, so they ship. or they think your scaming them... :) and yeah, i will remove the contact, it was just part of his post.. copy/paste...
  19. If this is a wrong post, delete it. 70's train parts, 15.00 USD http://seattle.craigslist.org/sno/clt/1864104553.html ad post: Collection of lego train components from 1970. Includes engine, battery pack (needs some soldering work to operate) 4 sets of couplers, 1 truck assembly with wheels, 12 drive wheels, 43 "tie" pieces, 12 pcs straight track, 63 pieces of curved track. Hard to find. $15.00 cash. Note: if ad is currently running, item is available. When inquiring, please give item description or use ad reference number. Thanks! somebody here needs it. :)
  20. I cant wait for the SP alco. but it needs to be a little bit higher/taller. Your renders are great. I cant get POV to render anything like that. :)
  21. yes they are called rail cars, used for maintenance. there are clubs in the USA that own those and take trips on old abandoned rail lines. great build :)
  22. yeah, it also splits switches. I will try and get some video. Is anybody else having these problems? I did not expect this from lego, but I guess this is a 14+ age lego... haha
  23. yes, the wheels are correct, and I removed the cylinders to see what the problem is. I am stumped.
  24. Is anybody still having these problems? I just got my E.Night motorized, and its horrible. splits switches and is so jerky. I even took off the pistons completely, from the fix which you showed. What is making this engine run so jerky?
  25. i have 3 RC engines. they are great. a lot of people give them bad reviews. but i think they are just as good as the new PF system. the pro from a PF is you can build steam. i have the green 7898. and i just use it as RC. they use the same track, and they can run at the same time as PF. keep it RC and save your money and time!
