  1. Why the F*** doesn"t Sony UMG let us Germans watch these videos? If there's only music with copyrights they don't have the right to steal me the whole video. Anyway a tip for efferman and maybe some other members who can't see some of the vids: Look up this site http://youtubeunblock.net/ Close the advertisement popups and copy the link of the video by right clicking on dluders link above ( ), selecting copy address (Linkadresse kopieren) and pasting it into the blue text box in the lower right corner of the unblock-site.click "go" and you will get to a simpler version of youtube where you can watch the video. please tell me if you think this hint might be worth to get an own thread
  2. Congratulations zblj! Don't forget to post some pictures of the packet when it arrives, I guess it should be quite big ;-) I think you really deserved this big prize and I hope for many huge models to come soon... Happy building grindinggears
  3. Thank you for the link to the description page, Sariel That truck truck really caught my eye when I saw the video of that TT race I think it is the first time I see a Trial Truck with M-Motors for propulsion. Okay, Mahjqa and Zblj made mini trucks with M-Motors but they were not of that usual 1:13 size. btw: I wonder why so few people don't use NXT-servos for propulsion, the only one I know is yoraish, maybe it's because of some Trucktrial rules?
  4. DLuders, are you sure that rolarun is Crowkiller's nickname on Flickr? To me it seems to be someone who has built some excellent MOCs from Crowkillers, grazi and maybe even others and now claims them to be his own creation just because he has changed colors. Well, I might be wrong but why should Crowkillers claim grazi's MOCs as his own work in his FLickr channel?(Doesn't make any sense to me)
  5. I think when retracting the rear spoiler moves forward, lifts the rear of the car and then is hidden by it. I think #8070 will be a very nice set. Although there is no complex drivetrain it will be a pleasure to see how they squeezed 4 motorised functions, suspension and power functions components into this car.
  6. @Milan I have used these tires to stiffen the Powerpuller tires. To get them inside the tire you have to arrange the little tires on the rim and secure them with some rubberbands. Then you have to squeeze this assembly into your Powerpuller tire. Here is a picture of the assembly I used some months ago:
  7. @Anio I really cannot understand why you consider the fire engine 8289 to be that bad. IMO it was very ahead of its time ( It has introduced the boom linkage that Nathanaël Kuipers has perfected in 8292). It could have been released today. I have to agree to phool, the time from 1998 until 2002 was really dark for the Technic theme (except for 8448, 8458 and 8466). The worst sets in this time were the Roboriders but I think noone of us would consider them real Technic. There were almost no medium-sized sets! The worst set in my opinion was 8457, it has only minor playability and it costs a lot.
  8. Yes, it's impossible to watch it in Germany. Actually there are a bunch of videos (for example Trucktrial races) which use copyright protected music and get blocked for German users. Sadly we have strong copyright associations here like GEMA and GVU. They don't help our artists to get money from their music but seem to enjoy being a pain in the as-s for us Germans. As a solution I often use Webproxies. Some can be found here but you have to try multiple proxies until you get a working one and sometimes there are even malware issues with some of them. As a real solution I would be pleased if you, mahjqa, could upload the video to other sites like flickr or vimeo. It would be nice as well if you could make a version which is free of copyright music. Thank You Very Much! grindinggears
  9. I have built FSB001 as well and I desperately have to admit that Anio is completely right: Only the pneumatic functions work well, but all gears are slipping and cracking. It amazed me that this insanely complex gear puzzle has a real counterpart: The Bobcat A300 All-Wheel-Steer loader. (Here you can find the German version of its product page.) I think with the PF motors and some new elements it would be possible to face this challenge again and create a more rigid model with better playability. Maybe someone here wants to build it?
  10. @ dhc6twinotter and DLuders I have built my own U Joint some months ago and also used the Friction pin and the 3 studs long pin. The key to minimize the friction is to use this connector which is only half the width. To make it even stronger you can replace the blue friction pins by 2 studs long axles and use cams as counterparts instead of pulley wheels. If you want to see my U Joint here's the gallery and the forum thread Anyway the strongest U-Joint ever made is imo ncjasno's one (look at the sides of the rear differential):
  11. Hi, I want to tell you something about the situation in Germany, maybe we should start a topic which contains all posts regarding 8043 availability and prices In Germany there seems to be no store which has 8043 available, I think we have to wait until late august But there is a great offer by the online shop buch.de : 8043 excavator for 144,99€ (equal to 187USD or 121GBP)! Shipping to Germany is free and there is also shipping to western European countries, the USA and Canada. Sadly there is no shipping date but I except late august. They also have other 2H2010 sets at rather low prices.
  12. http://shop.lego.com/ByTheme/Product.aspx?p=8052&cn=57&d=70 The 8052 Container Truck has appeared in the German Lego shop@home marked as available now. added on 22.07.10: Again there are some news for German Technic fans: The online shop buch.de offers all 2H2010 sets with rather low prices (15€ off for the excavator!) and free shipping if you live in Germany (They say they also ship to western European countries, USA and Canada but of course this won't be free ) They're all set as not available, I think they will get available in late august You can view all 2H2010 sets here.
  13. Hi there I would like to show you a Technic model which resembles an old Lego System set that means a lot to me: The 6512 Landscape Loader was the first Lego model I ever got! I made a compact model that resembles the key points of the 6512 design and put some functions in it, the boom and the bucket are controlled by two knobs in the rear. There are also some gears in it which make it skid steer. The playability is quite good imo, I really enjoyed making such a model. I'm sorry for not publishing a video. You can visit my homepage for more information about this MOC: http://grindinggears.webege.com/en/ (Click here for a German version of the article) There is also a Brickshelf gallery: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=439009 (not yet moderated, some links are here: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/grindinggears/Tribute-to-6512/02_comparison.jpg, http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/grindinggears/Tribute-to-6512/04_strong-little-thing.jpg) I hope you like it, comments are always welcome Grindinggears
  14. I counted the pieces for you when disassembling The result is 1139 pieces in total containing 7 PF elements, 8 gears (none is used for the drivetrain) and lots of those little connectors
  15. Whooho, I got 20001 points Took half an hour of training
  16. Oh yes, but then the springs for the trunk door wouldn't have fit in. Sometimes my model reminds me of the Daihatsu Materia which imo is the worst looking car ever.
  17. Well there is nothing really special to this moc. It's looking awfully but I will anyway share the links to my Brickshelf gallery and a blog post about it with you: Brickshelf gallery Blog post in English Blog post in German
  18. Yes I have seen this thing done with crown gears, too. Watch it here: Anyway this flower version looks far cooler than the crown gears one.
  19. @zblj Oh yes I simply love the work ncjasno and micha have done. There multilink-suspensions are so advanced. I have rebuilt micha's u-joint and it is so elegant and simple yet strong. Too bad it has a very limited angle. I remember having seen your cv joint on brickshelf some time ago. The only question I have when seeing this is how do the grey pins look like after some driving? btw in my opinion you are one of the best technic builders I have seen. The functionality and the robustness of your models is just awesome (I can't believe you made a moc like the combine harvester in just a week)
  20. Hello everyone! This is my first post at Eurobricks, I hope you appreciate what I have built. I made a Universal Joint with the center hole pin released half a year ago. The key to not let the friction exceed is to use these narrow connectors. I have designed a whole drive shaft from 2 U-Joints and a flexible extension which can extent by one stud. When building really big offroad vehicles (40+ studs width) you can use such a drive shaft to power every single tire, but you can also use it when transmitting force to a live axle. I suggest not to use this with a gear reduction greater than 3:1 when using a single XL-motor per driveshaft. When I was trying this the drive shaft remained intact but some axles got permanently twisted and one 8 tooth gear got grinded to death. You can find further images at my Brickshelf gallery and if you understand german you can read an article about this drive shaft on my web page. I hope you feel inspired and would be very thankful for comments and critiques. grindinggears
