This is going to be a milestone set with or without suspension or double rear wheels. I hope it has those things but I'll buy it whatever. Imagine all the new doors this has opened, like a flagship backhoe with those pneumatics! or small forklifts and so on. It's sets like this that sparks imagination and I could go on gushing over it but I will say that I'm a little concerned over the look of the front of it. It'll be the dominant thing on the front of the box. This model is way superior to 42030 (which had a different goal so not a knock to the designer/s) but 42030 had it's best feature, it's huge front bucket dominate the front of the box, so it looked cool for the kiddies. Such a great model as the Arocs deserves some killer box art, not a copy/past onto a template. Perhaps a more side on view than usual for recent years to show more of the truck and the arm, like 8868. I also don't think the usual black background is going to help the white and grey colour scheme.

Do it! Use the Lego education generator/motors. You would probabley need to use quite a lot to get all the power from your LPE. You could also try a steam loco with your modified valves and cylinders. It would probably go 20mph! The train and carriages give you a perfect place to put pressurised air. -
Ah could be right. Who really knows. Anyone remember the time scale for picking the winner, redesigning, creating instructions, mass producing and then releasing the boss crawler?

Have very recently started thinking out making a huge pneumatic steam train. Anyone else tried this? The boiler section would hold a large fizzy drinks bottle. -
At this point I would say they are preliminary. I think 42009 was changed even after it was shown at the toy fairs. Look how much the 24 hour racer has changed. TLGs production capabilities are highly efficient and streamlined, way more so than years ago.
-
I doubt the guys at TLG are finished improving it yet . Just thought I could help them along .

It seems the only point of contention with the Arocs so far is the front grill. Do the guys who have seen it think this would look better? Obviously the sides would be hidden by panels or something.
-
Very well said though I think he just might be being sarcastic! If all there is is longer pneumatics I'm still buying the hell out of that set and it sure does prove that TLG are listening.

Someone who is "taking a break" has been naughty, alas I was too late to contact them to get any pictures from them. True, but when pics are revealed we will all see the wood through the trees, and this is fun!

I've read that the arm can extend. Apparently hoses can be seen going to where the cylinder should be to extend it. Sounds very interesting. The Unimog (the last Mercedes team up) came with two new pneumatic parts as well all the new portal hub and ball joint suspension parts. Maybe Mercedes gives them a bigger budget for making new parts to make their models more like the real thing?
-
Believe me I've not seen diddley squat either and I'm the one who annoyed everyone on eurobricks for years about how we need longer pneumatics! Come to think of it that's probably why I haven't seen anything
-
It will not be final yet judging by previous years. It might look better or worse but it will surely look a bit different.
-
Thank God for that! Alasdair almost gave me a heart attack! Thank you Lego for listening to us. That's twice Lego Technic and Mercedes have teamed up and it's looking like twice we get something awesome on another level!
-
This is too funny! Oh yeah yeah. Something about not enough people living there to make it worth while.
-
Yeah, well I just saw a picture and it had release dates. It's being released everywhere early, except Scotland, where it will not be released.

You are talking about intellectual property rights, the kind of thing that comes with very large fines if violated. I personally would not risk it and would not expect anyone else to either.
-
I asked someone for pics via PM and they are absolutely sworn to secrecy no matter how kind they are, so no luck. Best not pester them any further

I was, kinda, but with this news not anymore. If the Arocs turns out to be what I hope it is then I'm gonna be getting more than one for sure, hence the phrase "I'm back!" at the bottom of my last post. Depending on the new parts it's gonna be lots more years and lots more Lego
