  1. I just completed a detailed review of the brand new book "LEGO Architecture: The Visual Guide" by the popular DK publisher. The book is beautifully produced, and features all 21 sets in the growing LEGO Architecture series. Let's see what it has to offer, and find out if it's something you should add to your library! LINK: http://tomalphin.com/2014/08/book-review-lego-architecture-the-visual-guide.html I'd love to hear your thoughts as well. Do you love it or hate it? What do you wish they did differently? Sincerely, --- Tom Alphin
  2. Love it, and would love to add these to my LEGO Architecture boards on Pinterest (Link: http://www.pinterest.com/tomalphin/), but it looks like the images on Flickr are marked in such a way as to block pinning. :-( Let me know if you change those sharing settings so I can help others see your great work! ---tom
  3. I'm happy to hear that new things are coming. Both will probably be great builds. I wonder how closely the Lincoln Memorial model will be to this build: http://www.ebay.com/...Y-/280958433715
  4. This is an exciting new LEGO Architecture model for a true world architecture masterwork. I've proudly featured this on my LEGO Architecture boards on Pinterest: http://www.pinterest.com/tomalphin/
  5. I think the stronger argument would be that the LEGO model would a) make a better sales pitch and 2) would be a valuable display asset in the lobby of the completed building. I think it would go over well for a condo complex in a high-tech geek city like Seattle. I'd certainly want to tour a possible condo complex if they had a cool LEGO model in their advertising! ---tom
  6. That's Awesome, although I think your boss woudl also be suprised how EXPENSIVE it would be to build large scale models using the exquisitely detailed building techniques these builders are using. Glad to help, and great story! ---tom
  7. Thanks @Off the wall and @Modelmaker for your support and appreciation. It was a time consuming project and i'm glad to hear you enjoyed it! Great pointer to a great LEGO model. I added it to the Postmodern collection.
  8. You must tell me how this helped you win an (long-standing) argument! ---tom
  9. I wanted to share a project I've been working on for a few months to find the very best LEGO Architecture models by LEGO Artists around the world. I found many of the models in my collection by reviewing the great resources here in the "Special Themes" forum on Eurobricks. (I think I've skimmed through all 142 pages of posts!) The result is several collections of the best LEGO Architecture, which I've sorted by Architectural style. LINK: http://tomalphin.com/2014/07/best-lego-architecture.html The following is just a teaser of the 100's of great LEGO models I've found. I'm sure some of these are models by members of this board, and I hope you are happy to see your work featured below! (I've tried to make sure each entry is meticulously labeled to give credit to the original artist and link directly to their galleries on Flickr, Mocpages and other sites. If you see a mistake, please let me know. Did I miss your favorite LEGO Architecture model? Tell me about your favorite LEGO Architecture models by replying to this thread or my blog post and I'll add more great LEGO buildings to my Pinterest boards. Sincerely, ---tom
  10. Thanks for the other links Spencer. You are a really accomplished LEGO builder (I've seen some of your other work) and this is a great addition! I added it to my Pinterest board here: http://www.pinterest...06694894563784/ Sincerely, ---tom Glad to hear that you found some other awesome buildings through my collection of pins. Definitely let me know if you see any other amazing LEGO creations which I should add to my pinterest collections... Sincerely, ---tom

  13. Awesome, thanks! I've added it to my gallery of LEGO Deconstructivism buildings here: http://www.pinterest.com/tomalphin/lego-architecture-deconstructivism/
  14. Looks great! Really nice modeling of an decidedly non-blocky building. I would love to add this to my Architecture board on Pinterest, but it looks like you have blocked sharing on Flickr.
  15. Top notch construction, really captures the essence of the building in a small-scale model. Great work! (I added it to my Architecture board on Pinterest to help more people find it. http://www.pinterest.com/pin/514606694894508386/ )
  16. lots of green parts :-)
  17. Awesome, glad to hear it... I would love to see photos of your collection with these labels!
  18. Awesome, thanks! It's now part of my Neoclassical wall (since I don't have a specific collection of Italianate LEGO Builds.) Sincerely, ---tom
  19. @CMartin911 & jfuste: Thank you for your support and appreciation. It makes it more rewarding to give back to the LEGO community when I know people like what I'm doing. I wanted to let everyone know that I just uploaded a huge update to the Label collection! It now includes most of the LEGO bricks you might want for general building. (Technics is not included yet) > LINK: http://tomalphin.com...-your-lego.html Let me know if you have found these useful, or if I'm missing some important parts that you would like to see in the next update. Sincerely, -Tom Alphin
  20. P.S. I wanted to draw attention to your awesome model by adding it to my Pinterest collection of great LEGO Architecture models, but it seems your Flickr photos are blocking Pinterest. Was this intentional, or a side effect of using Flickr to share the photos?
  21. Gorgeous model. I love it when people capture the essence of a large building in a pretty small model. Worthy of the Architecture series!
  22. I was excited by the upcoming Trevi Fountain set, and I couldn't wait for it's release to try and build part of the model. Along the way, I discovered some of the cool building techniques that I believe will be employed in the final model, plus a sneak peek at some of the rare or interesting parts that I'm pretty confident are lurking within the set. > LINK: http://tomalphin.com/2014/05/lego-trevi-fountain-21020-preview.html I'm curious if anyone else has tried to build out a model before it's released? How close did you get? I'm also curious to hear if you think I made any errors in my predictions. What do you think will be the most sought after piece in this set? Sincerely, ---tom
  23. The film only had three showings in Seattle and a few showings at the Tribeca Film festival so far. I certainly hope it is shown in more places soon, but I don't know of any upcoming shows. Good Luck!
  24. I live in Seattle, so I got a chance to see the second showing of the new LEGO documentary. It is a fun film, and shows off a lot of the great things that LEGO fans are building around the world. If you want to learn more, I've put together a detailed review on my blog which calls out my highlights from the film. > LINK: http://tomalphin.com/2014/05/beyond-the-brick-a-lego-brickumentary.html Sincerely, ---tom
  25. Amazing model. Great to see less traditional Architecture subjects made in the Architecture Studio style.
