  1. Yep. 1.Great Hall 2.Dumbledore's office 3.the trophy room (not much in it, but it's still represented) 4.Slytherin common room 5.Gryffindor common room 6.the Chamber of Secrets hallway (though that's still just a guess, could be something else) 7.the owlery 8.Astronomy tower 9.the restricted section of the library 10.the room of requirement (the part with the vanishing cabinet) Yep. Star Wars is one of those brands that has no foreseeable end to it. The contract with Lego is, as far as I know, getting close to it's end, but I'll be surprised if they don't come up with a new one. Agreed. Especially since the OotP castle was so hard to find (personally I never actually saw it in-person). Since there are multiple sets, these should, theoretically, be easier to find. Good point about the second game. I too agree that the game coming out this year was the main reason behind Lego deciding to make some new sets, so I'm hoping that the second game will do the same for whenever it comes out. Hmm...hadn't really thought about it. It definitely would have been an easy thing to add. Still, the sets on display at TF could have been incomplete. They were definitely closer to the final product than the one's pictured on the test packaging, but they could have been missing details. I have a loooot of set ideas, lol. -Ministry of Magic- could easily homage both OotP and DH -Escaping Gringotts- basically just the trio, Griphook, some security goblins, the dragon, a bank vault, and some rubble -Campsite- would make for a nice small and cheap set homaging several scenes from DH, maybe include the sword and the silver doe -Grimauld Place- could easily homage both OotP and DH -Shell Cottage- would be interesting to see in Lego form, and would give us minifigures of Ollivander and Bill Weasley -Godrics Hollow- basically just Harry, Hermione, Bagshot, the graveyard, and if they could pull it off, the memorial -Epilogue- would be mostly minifigures, but it could easily include part of the platform and some trolleys -Hogwarts Castle add-on- Clocktower (Trelawney's office/classroom, Ravenclaw & Hufflepuff common rooms, and a choir room), generic tower 1 (McGonagall's office/class, Charms class/office, and half of the Cos), generic tower 2 (Myrtle's bathroom, the other half of the CoS), RoR (painting entrance), and a greenhouse. Minifigures- Harry, Ron, Ginny, Trelawney, McGonagall, Old Flitwick, Myrtle, Riddle, Neville, Luna, and Sprout. Creatures- Fawkes, the basilisk, Trevor, a couple owls, and the bird McGonagall turns into a water goblet. -HBP tower- Potions class/office and the DADA class/office. Snape and Slughorn minifigures (basically another/smaller add-on for the castle set) -Battle Pakcs- basically just a grouping of four/five minifigures in a theme with some school supplies, or some sort of accesories added to the set --Griffyndor BP- Dean Thomas, Seamus Finnigan, Colin Creevey, Nearly Headless Nick --Slytherin BP- Draco Malfoy, Gregory Goyle, Pansy Parkinson, Bloody Baron --Ravenclaw BP- Cho Chang, Luna Lovegood, Generic Student, Gray Lady --Hufflepuff BP- Cedric Diggory, Hannah Abbott, Generic Student, Fat Friar --DADA Teachers BP- Quirrell, Lockhart, Lupin, Moody, Umbridge --Ministry Wizards BP- Scrimgeour, Fudge, Hopkirk, Doge --OotP Members BP- Sirius, Tonks, Shacklebolt, Aberforth --Death Eaters BP- Malfoy, Petigrew, Dolohov, Macnair
  2. Yeah, the excitement around the last movie is going to be HUGE, so hopefully Lego thinks its going to be big enough to warrant another wave of sets. Looking at the castle set, I find it quite interesting how it appears as though the different buildings can be re-arranged in different formations. It's one feature that I hope they exploit in any possible future sets, or at least advertise decently about the set. While I think Hagrid's Hut is going to be absolute favorite, the castle is definitely going to be a close second. It's amazing, to me at least, how they've been able to cram ten different locations into just four buildings. Especially considering one of the largest buildings in the set is only one of the ten locations (the Great Hall). I also find it slightly funny that Dumbledore's office is actually represented twice in just one set. The interior is represented in the middle section of the one building, and then the exterior is represented as part of the main tower.
  3. Yeah, good point, but still, there's a chance that they've already got plans for another wave (a slim chance, but still a chance). Who knows, the new wave of sets could, theoretically, sell so well that they decide to make another wave, even if that new wave would come out much later than the last movie. It could also depend on how long the contract is for. Could be set up so that they have the option to produce additional waves, or it could have been set up just for this one wave. We'll just have to wait and see. Personally I'm hoping for another wave, but at the same time I won't be surprised if these six sets are the last we get. Yep, she's is in the new castle set. To me she's a little random, especially since Ron isn't being included in the set too. Someone like Draco would have made more sense, imo, due to the Slytherin common room.
  4. Agreed. I'm hoping they make another wave of sets after this one. That way they could put Luna in a smaller set, and also hopefully put the Draco and Ginny minifigures in smaller sets too (would be nice to have the new Draco and Ginny minifigures in their Hogwarts uniforms). Would also give them a chance to either update, or at least re-release, the Neville Longbottom minifigure. As for the possibility of shorter wands, it would be nice, but it's not a deal-breaker for me. Looking at the six new sets, I have a feeling that Hagrid's Hut is going to be my favorite one of them. It's sorta small, and not all that accurate, but it is nicely detailed. I like how it has things hanging from the ceiling. There's a broom, a turkey leg, what appers to be a fish, and something black that I can't exactly make out. The light-up fireplace feature should be interesting to see in-person.
  5. After re-watching the scene from HBP, it's hard to hear, but he is called Filius. Slughorn says it when the trio is on their way to the Three Broomsticks. Still, it's hard for me to look at the two and imagine they are the same character. If it was a situation like Dumbledore (different actors), or a less major change of looks, like some other characters got (Hagrid, for example, got a slight change in looks), it would be easier to except the two as the same person. Still, would be interesting to see a minifigure of movies 1-2 Flitwick. Mostly just to see what they could do with it. The castle and Burrow look nice and big (bigger than they've looked in photos). It's nice to know that Harry is another minifigure that's going to have a double-sided head. Should be interesting to see who else has the feature. The second story to the castle's main tower still intrigues me. I'm slightly surprised we haven't seen what it does yet (it clearly does something). I still think it revolves to become the wall in CoS with the writing on it. As for Harry's mouth issue, eh, personally it doesn't bother me, but part of me is definitely hoping that the final versions have the lower mouth.
  6. Fireplace gimmick looks really good. Though the green flames sticker looks a little odd to me. I wasn't expecting Grayback to have a reversable head, but it is nice to see. I'll probably just use the crazed face. Fits his character perfectly, imo. When was he ever referred to as as Filius? I know Harry called him Professor Flitwick in HBP, but I don't think he's been called Filius in any of the movies. Only thing that I've seen that connects the two, other than the same last name and being portrayed by the same actor, is that the charms teacher in the OotP video game is modeled after Flitwick #2. Which, imo, doesn't count as the video games haven't been completely cannon. As for the credits, for me at least, those don't factor in either. The naming of the character has varied from movie to movie. In the end it's probably always going to be a bit of a gray area. Personally I consider them two separate characters. The first of which I consider the Charms teacher from the books, and the second I consider to be the choir teacher they added to the movies as a relative to the first.
  7. Those would be the inferi, aka dead bodies with a spell on them to make them do whatever a wizard/witch wants them to do. Oddley enough when they made them for the movie, they were trying to stay away from a zombie look. Personally I think they ended up doing the exact opposite, as they definitely look like zombies to me. Starving zombies, but zombies. Luna and Grayback (the werewolf guy), are both being made in the new wave of Lego HP sets coming out later this year. Luna is in the Hogwarts Express set, and Grayback is in the Burrow set (along with Bellatrix Lestrange).
  8. I remember her saying that, but I don't think it was the reason for the change. Might have been a factor, but definitely wasn't the sole reason. I remember Alfonso Cuaron saying something about wanting to change the look too. Also, it's from Wiki, but this here makes a lot of sense. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Filius_Flitwick#Filius_Flitwick So he was meant to be a completely different character who was later then named Flitwick. That's enough evidence, for me at least, that the two are separate characters, but related in some way (Uncle & Nephew just seems to fit, imo, and I still think I remember Davis saying something, at least jokingly, to that affect). Plus it's kind of cool, imo, that the movies have a character that wasn't in any of the books. Anyways, back to the Lego's. Looking at the new castle set, I really like the amount of detail they were able to put into it. Specifically the Griffindor and Slytherin common rooms, which are small, but still nicely detailed. It even looks like the Griffindor fireplace has some fire in it. It's just too bad that the set doesn't come with any Slytherin students. Oh well, I've got a Draco minifigure from a PoA set I can put in there.
  9. I'll have to see if I can find it again, but I remember Warwick Davis talking about the visual change in PoA, and I remember him mentioning something along the lines that the character is the old Flitwick's nephew, or younger relative of some sort, who has come to Hogwarts to teach the school's choir. If the two are meant to be related, it wouldn't at all be surprising if they had the same last name. It's Wiki, so it's not a credible source, but this bit from the Filius Flitwick information on there is basically what I'm talking about: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Filius_Flitwick#Filius_Flitwick That's enough evidence, for me at least, that the two are separate characters, but related in some way (Uncle & Nephew just seems to fit, imo, and I still think I remember Davis saying something, at least jokingly, to that affect). Plus it's kind of cool, imo, that the movies have a character that wasn't in any of the books.
  10. That actually looks really good. The hair they've been using for him isn't horrible, imo, but he could use a bit of a change, and that hair piece would be perfect. Especially since they've given Ron a new hair piece. Here's hoping they do that for a future set. Also, I agree that he had the best hair in PoA. Was too long in GoF, and got way too short after that.
  11. Personally, I'm hoping that they decide to make at least another wave of sets, and somehow include certain characters as minifigures. -Pr. Filius Flitwick- we're getting his nephew, the choir teacher, in the new castle set, so I think we should get Flitwick, the charms teacher too. -Pr. Pomona Sprout- to help fill in the staff. -Gearge & Fred Weasley- to help fill in the Weasley family. -Pr. Slughorn- to help fill in the staff (only DADA teacher I have atm is Moody). -Bill & Fleur- to help fill in the Weasley family, and would go well with a Shell Cottage set. -Ollivander- would go nicely with a Shell Cottage set, along with a remade Griphook. -Aberforth Dumbledore- would be nice to Albus's brother. -Kingsley Shacklebolt- would make for a nice minifigure, imo.
  12. Basically just some of my HP sets that I've modified, and one thing I came up with on my own. Admittedly the pictures aren't all that good, but they get across what I've done. I've always felt that the "Sirius Black's Escape" is a bit short for being a tower, so I've added to it. Not the best looking addition, but it works for me. It's also gone threw a couple of different revisions. It was first going to be completely closed and then it was going to be the part of the dungeons where Riddle blackmailed Hagrid. Now it's a part of the castle that's been mentioned in the books, but never seen in the movies (going to leave it up as a guess as to what it is for now). There is a minifigure that would go really well with the addition, though I don't have one of them, yet. The tower's addition and the fountain are, for the most part, made from parts from the "Snape's Classroom" set. Anyway, here are the pictures: This first picture is of everything together: This is the fountain I've made. A little simplistic, but 's not bad: The fountain with Harry for comparison: The tree and pumpkin from the "Draco's Encounter with Buckbeak". My plan is to add it to the new Hagrid's Hut set: With Harry for comparison: The tower from the front. I plan on adding this to the new castle set: Closer look at the front & side of the addition. A bit mismatched, but it works for me: The tower from the back: My modified version of the "Harry and the Marauder's Map" set. Regrettably gets rid of the underground tunnel, but it keeps the feature of the statue moving: Close-up of the inside of the addition: The addition with Harry for comparison (not the first time he's been to this part of the castle): Close-up of the opening desk I made using parts from the "Draco's Encounter with Buckbeak" set: Sirius in his place (one of the few things to do with this minifigure): Peeves in a part of the castle he's definitley not welcomed to:
  13. If it's exactly the same as the one in the castle set, it says "Harry Potter Speaks Out At Last". Which references the interview he did for the Quibbler in OotP. Looking at the castle, it looks as though the sections of it will be easily arrangeable. In the box mock-ups picture the building containing Dumbledore's office is attached to the outside corner, while the set on display it's attached to the inside corner. The other parts to the castle seem to have the same ability.
  14. From what I can remember, the reason for the change in his characters look was to make him look more realistic, and more human. Also, if I'm not mistaken, along with the look change, they also came up with the idea that he's not Filius Flitwick, the charms teacher, but his nephew, or some younger relative with the same last name, who is the Hogwarts choir teacher. Basically they made him into an entirely new character that's a relative to one of the characters from the books/first two movies. Personally I think that if they decide to continue making more HP Lego sets, that they should find a way to make a minifigure of the older Flitwick. Not sure what set they could put him in, but it wouldn't be too hard to find a place for him. Definitely looks like a copy of the Quibbler to me. In fact, looks like the same one that's sitting on the table in the castle's Slytherin common room.
  15. I've heard that it is, but haven't seen any pictures that prove it. Bellatrix even has a double sided head (the other side has a sort of scared look on her face), so it would surprise me if Luna didn't also have one.
  16. The reason Luna (with spectrescopes) is in the train set, and Voldemort is in the castle set, is because only one of the six sets is book specific. Freeing Dobby is only based off of CoS, while the other five have a mixture of nods to several different books. For example, Hagrid's Hut has both Aragog and Norbert, thus referencing both of the first two books. The castle seems to have countless different nods built into it (has at least ten different parts of the castle), the train set references both CoS (Ron, Harry, & the car) and HBP (Harry, Draco, Ginny, Luna, & the cloak), and the Quidditch Match set is generic looking enough to reference several of the books, though CoS is the first to come to my mind when I look at it. The way that the Burrow set is set up on the packaging homages the attack in HBP, and the set itself contains nods to it's other appearances in the books/movies. Most notably the fireplace and the clock. I really like how these sets are a catch all for the various scenes int he books/movies, instead of all being specific to one of them. Which is why I'm hoping they continue on for at least another wave of sets.
  17. I was curious, so I watched the ministry battle in OotP earlier today, and while it is very dark, his robes were definitely green. I don't imagine they would change his wardrobe for DH, but we'll have to wait and see. It can only be seen in one or two photos, but the front of the box has Harry and Voldemort fighting. The little scene there, and the fact that Voldemort is int he set to begin with, could definitely, imo, be take as a nod to DH. There is one thing about the Voldemort figure I hope is different for the final production version. I'm not sure if it's just because it's a test piece, or if it was done on purpose, but the white on the inside of his cape/cloak bothers me. I'm ok with the green now, but the white doesn't quite look right to me. It works for the Slytherin Quidditch robes, but not for Voldemort, imo. That would be interesting. Wouldn't at all be hard to design a Lego centaur (if they haven't already done so in the past), and Grawp could be a retool to the mountain troll figure (would work for me). One set I think would be quite interesting to see, would be a set based around the Epilogue. Would, for the most part, be minifigures, but they could include part of the train station and a couple of luggage trolleys. Not a very likely set to be made, but it's definitely an interesting idea. There are, imo, at least a couple of different sets that could be made with a DH theme to them: -Shell Cottage- the cottage, Bill, Fleur, the trio, Ollivander, Graphook, & Luna. -The trio camping- a tent, the trio, some plants, Gryffindor's sword, & the silver doe. -Godric's Hollow graveyard- gravestones, Harry, Hermione, Bathilda, & a snake. -Escaping Gringotts- bank vault & rubble, the trio, Graphook, goblins, Gryffindor's sword, & the dragon.
  18. I'm not familiar with how early things like this are known, but is it possible that any possible second cycle isn't ready enough to be fully scheduled? I'm not holding my breath for more after this, but to me at least, it seems like it would still be too early to tell if they're continuing on afterwords or not. I personally think that they might be waiting to see how these six sets sell, and then make a decision to continue or not. It would probably mean a bit of a time-gap between these sets and future sets (I'm not familiar with how long it takes for them to develop a cycle of sets from beginning to end), but it would help Lego better decide on whether or not to make any more sets. I definitely agree with you. If this is the absolute end for Lego Harry Potter sets, which there's a great chance it is, it's a great way to end it. Also, we'll still have another Lego HP video game to look forward to.
  19. It's hard to see, but in the pictures of the set still on the display shelf, you can see a clear round-ish object sitting next to the minifigure of Ron. It's right next to Hagrid's crossbow. I also think the power function light brick is in the fireplace. It makes the most sense, imo, and should work well for a fireplace glow, and to help replicate the scene when Norbert hatches. One thing I really like about Hagrid's Hut, is that even though it's a bit simplified, and not as accurate, it retains the same basic look and important parts to it. Like the second door, the haphazardness of the inside, a bat, and the plants growing around it. I would have loved to see Fang included, but oh well. They could always, somehow, include him in a smaller set later on, depending on whether or not they decide to make any more sets after these ones.
  20. I thought there was something weird looking to the wall behind him. Would be really cool if it did spin around and had the red writing on the wall. Would be nice little added feature.
  21. That's what I'm thinking it does. Doesn't look like it has the ability to hide the minifigure placed in it, but switching out the flames wouldn't be too hard. Honestly, at first I thought it was the broom shed, but the more I looked at it, the more I realized it was the fireplace. Kinda nice that it can be taken out to better use the feature, but personally, I'll probably keep it inside the burrow itself most of the time. One thing I find really nice about these new sets, is that it seems that all of the owls in the sets will be the new design. The older one's were nice, but always seemed more like statues.
  22. Just noticed something about the Hogwarts Castle set. It's a small detail, but it's nice. Looking at one of the close-up shots of Dumbledore's office, there appears to be a copy of Riddle's diary on the floor. Also, the Hogwarts crest piece on the other side of the floor looks like it's meant to be put onto the front of that part of the castle, as there is a spot it could be placed on just above the center window. Looking at the main tower, the inside of the roof part to it is a little confusing. It looks almost as though something else should be there. Maybe it's supposed to represent the owlery? There does seem to be a couple of owls in the set. Which looking at them, appear to be the redesigned mold to accommodate for the chest and face paint apps. I'm now mostly over Voldemort wearing green. Looking at what he wears post-GoF, green makes sense. Still, it could have been darker, and the white on the inside of the cape still bothers me. His teeth look slightly odd, but not horrible. I'm just happy I'll be able to have a Voldemort minifigure. I like the idea behind the new invisibility cloak, I'm just not sure I'll like it when I actually get it. It's one of those things that I'll probably keep with my spare parts, and maybe bring out every once in a while. Though I do have to admit that it's better than the two previous incarnations of it (the cape with the stars and the purple cape). Speaking of which, I've actually got the purple cape from the one PoA set on my Dumbledore figure. Clashes slightly with the blue of his robes, but it doesn't look all that bad overall. Can't wait to see the official pictures of the new sets. It's always interesting, imo, to see what the set looks on it's own and against a white plane. Allows one to concentrate on just the set. Edit: Just noticed another really small detail. In the Slytherin common room, there is a copy of the Quibbler on the table, and it's meant to be the issue that Harry gave an interview for, as it says "Harry Potter speaks out at last". That is a really nice nod from the fifth book, and is a nice sign that Lego is paying attention to some things that didn't make the cut for the movies.
  23. Not to sound argumentative, but all I'm saying is that I think it would be interesting to see them make an add on set that fully matched the new castle. As it is I think the previous castle parts might not match all that well with the new castle. Though they could very well go well together once someone takes pictures of the new set next to the older sets. It's a wait and see sort of thing. I'm honestly not making any "demands", I just find it fun to think up ideas for new sets (I often do the same thing with Transformers). For example, I think it would be interesting if they made a set based off of Shell Cottage. With what will happen there in the movies, I think there is a chance they could make a set based off of it, but at the same time I'm not expecting/demanding them to do it. Would definitely give them the chance to make some unique characters, but it's hard to say, from my point of view, whether or not it would sell well. For all I know, the idea could be a potential hit, but it could also be a huge flop. To put it simply, it's a set idea that I think would be cool to see them make, but not something I'm going to get all upset about if they don't. The fact alone that they are making more HP themed sets makes me a very happy camper, let alone how good they look.
  24. Yep. Even parts of the castle in the box picture don't look like the ones on the set in the pictures. This early the box designs are always preliminary/test packaging, meant to give a general idea of what the set will be like. The sets on display seem to be more finalized versions of them. I'm really happy to see the castle from some different angles. Part of me is really hoping that the Voldemort figure isn't the final version. The green just looks odd on him, and it doesn't really make any sense. Unless he wears green in one of the two parts to Deathly Hallows, or something. Black, or even a really dark gray, would have been much better. He also looks like he's wearing one of the Slytherin Quidditch cloaks. I'm really hoping they decide to make more after these sets. Even if we get mostly remakes of older sets with just a few new sets, I'll be a happy camper. Visually these sets are really good, and they seem like they'll be of decent quality. Hopefully with Star Wars on the way out they'll decide to keep the Harry Potter theme going for a little while longer. Hopefully the new sets, and the board and video games sell well, so that they'll see a reason to continue with the theme. Plus, they'll have the rights to do so for at least a while, depending on how long it is till the contract is up, sot hey might as well use it while they've got it. As great as the castle set looks, it looks incomplete, to at least a certain degree. I've said it before, but I think it would be cool if they made a second set to attach to this one. At the very least make a clock tower and greenhouse that can attach, if not another tower of Hogwarts. Maybe have it look like some of the classrooms.
  25. Yep, it was Pomona Sprout. Too bad she's never got a minifigure, even when they made the greenhouse. Though technically, there's still two not in the sets. The Flitwick figure we're getting is the young one that's the choir teacher (just noticed I should edit it, since we don't know his first name), but it was the older Flitwick that's the head of Ravenclaw house. Though I'm getting a little too specific with that. Still, would have been nice to see the older Flitwick in Lego form. On a side note, didn't think to mention this earlier, but another small detail about the castle set that I'm not a fan of, is Dumbledore's robes. It's less accurate, but I was hoping that they would revert him back to his more pink-ish colored robes for this set. Would tie in better with the video game. Oh well, it's only a slight annoyance, and nowhere near bothersome enough to convince me not to buy the set. Edit: Looking at the one shot of the Burrow set where you can see Bellatrix, Grayback, Harry, Ginny, and Molly, in the background and the upper left portion of the image, is it just me, or is there a picture of a Hermione Granger minifigure on the box? It has a blank face, and you can't see the writing underneath it, but that definitely looks like a Hermione minifigure.
