  1. Part of me would be surprised if they didn't have at least one commercial for them. Probably with some clips from the movies to help tie the two together. I'd love to see them, and I think it's a possibility, but I wouldn't be surprised if they don't make any. There's only been three HP key chains, and no magnet sets.
  2. Was looking over at Mugglenet, and looks like there's going to be Collectors Editions of the game: http://www.mugglenet.com/ http://www.gamestop.com/browse/ProductMerc...&affid=3002 Personally I'll be sticking with the PC version of the game (which sadly doesn't appear to be getting a Collector's Edition). I don't have any of the modern consoles, and don't plan to buy any of them (maybe the Wii, but not anytime soon). While there isn't any variation between the trio's wands, there is at least some variation in the wand colors now. At the very least Dumbledore and Voldemort have differently colored wands. Dumbledore has a light tan wand (which I think should be used for Hermione's too), Snape has a black wand, and Voldemort has a white wand. Though I do agree, more variation would be nice, along with hopefully the wands being the shorter version when these sets come out.
  3. I used to want them on every minifigure, but seeing the new design for the students, I really like them cloak-less. Though there are definitely some characters that I feel need them. Snape, McGonagall, Voldemort, etc. Basically most of the teachers and adult characters, but with some exceptions. Filch, Albus D., Aberforth D., Flitwick, and Hagrid are some good examples (not even sure it would be physically possible to put one on Hagrid, lol). If I'm not mistake, the stars on the one side where supposed to represent the invisibility cloak. Which is why they were turned onto the inside for certain characters in pictures.
  4. Agreed. While I love the HP themed Lego's I already have, the new one's are such an improvement I can't imagine not getting any them. The detailing and colors are perfect, and should go nicely with what I've already got. As for whether or not the theme park will have them, they might, but not until the wide release of the sets. I can't imagine them releasing them early, even for the park opening. The really good thing about this wave of sets not being movie/book specific, is that there is no end to what they could do with any future waves of sets. Ultimately I think that if we do get another wave or two of sets after this, that they'll stick with sets that can reference multiple scenes, with maybe one or two that are as specific as the Freeing Dobby set. One thing I sorta wish they would have updated for these sets is the brooms. Not that the current design doesn't work well, just that I think it wouldn't have been hard to make at least one of the broom designs from the HP universe in Lego form. A Nimbus 2000 design itself could also just be molded in black and used as the Nimbus 2001 (since that was really all the difference between the two was). The Firebolt would be more difficult to design, but not entirely impossible.

Cool picture. I'm already planning on getting several figures from this line, and even doubles of some. Most of which will go towards the several HP themed minifigs I'm going to customize. For example, two Cowboys will make great starting points for Fred and George. Still, there's at least two I'm planning on getting and keeping as-is. The zombie and the mime. The vending machine could, in theory at least, be just for the Japanese market. Brickipedia has a picture from the German 2010 consumer guide showing a box stand/display. http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/File:CollectableminisDE.jpg Definitely looks like you'll be able to feel the bags to check who you'll be getting. I'll be surprised if US stores don't have the same display. Which'll be great as there are some very specific one's I plan on getting.
  6. Great review. This is one set I'd love to get. The camera on it's own makes the set worth the buy, let alone the other parts. Unfortunately I haven't had any luck finding the set, and I have the bad feeling I've missed the opportunity to buy it at retail. Edit: For those who have found it, is it in the Lego section? or is it in the seasonal section? (like the non-boxed impulse sets). I'll be going to Target next week, so hopefully they have some by then.
  7. Let's see here... -The Office- The possibilities with Dwight themed sets is great on it's own, let alone all the other characters. Gimmicks would be a bit hard to work in though. -The Lord of the Rings- I'm definitely not the first to say it, but I would like to see it some day. Endless possibilities with this theme. Especially the potential battle packs. -Family Guy- Would be the perfect opportunity for Lego to develop a fat guy torso. Wouldn't be all that hard to come up with at least one wave of sets. -Mythbusters- Would only take one, maybe two sets to do it, but it would be cool. -Harry Potter- Yeah, it's already a theme, and getting another wave of sets. I'd just like to say that I hope the video game coming out this year has some influence on any possible future sets. Most especially the games inclusion of Pr. Sprout, Fang, and the Womping Willow. For being an April Fools joke, that's really well made.
  8. Anybody else considering getting multiple copies of the Freeing Dobby set? I'm thinking about getting a total of four copies of it. Not sure what I would do with the three extra Lucius minifigures, but the three extra Harry minifigures would work nicely for some custom Hogwarts students, and the three extra Dobbys would work nicely as representatives as the Hogwarts house-elves. Edit: Forgot to mention this. Might seem a bit nitpicky, but I think the first post should be updated. Some of the set names are incorrect. It's "Freeing Dobby" and "Quidditch Match" (Dobby's Release and Quidditch Lesson are the names of the old sets). Also, it's just "The Burrow" (no s at the end).
  9. Since I've got Aberforth mostly done, I might as well put up some pictures of him. All I need to do now is take the paint off of the torso and put a custom decal on it. The head, hair, beard, and hands are from a GoF Albus minifigure, and the arms and legs are from an old jedi minifigure. The colors seem odd at first, but they work for Aberforth, imo. I've unfortunately misplaced his wand, but that's not a big issue. Oh, and the chair, well honestly, I was just bored and made it out of some spare parts I have. Don't have any plans to use it down the road. Oddly enough, as close as I am to completing this guy (in contrast to the others I have planned anyways), he's the one that I'm most likely to change in the future. It really depends on what his outfit in DH looks like. I'm hoping it isn't too different from the one they used in OotP, but as it's with a different actor, and a much larger and important role, the costume will probably differ. Interesting, I would have never thought that would work, but it does. I'm not sure what kind of paint you should use, but there's bound to be someone on here that can help you. I don't have any experience painting stuff as small as Lego minifigures. Though I have painted some Transformers, and honestly, my detail work on those isn't good, lol.
  10. Great reveiw. Pictures could use a little brightening, but they still work nicely. This is the one PoP set I know I'll be getting. The hoods will work nicely for the two Death Eaters I'm going to make, Dastan's hair piece will work great for another minifigure I'm planning, and the flesh-toned pieces will work nicely for some other custom Harry Potter themed minifigures. Not sure what I'll do witht he horse, but I'm sure I'll find something.
  11. Could be a number of things. It could have been something designed so far in advance that it was available for use in the video game, or it could be an instance where it was originally designed for the video game, and then they decided to use it for the set.
  12. Huh, I never noticed that before. What about the first Hogwarts Express set? I know the Harry and Ron figures that came with it were in regular clothes, but can't tell if Hermione did or not. Yeah, it would have been nice to get a new regular clothes Hermione minifigure. If they decide to make some DH themed sets it would be the perfect opportunity to do so. A simple camping set with the trio in regular clothes, a tent, and some gear would be easy enough. One thing I'm looking forward to is getting the castle, and then adding the additions I've made for it. I've already got Sirius's tower ready to go, along with the One-Eyed Witch hallway, a tree to go outside of Hagrid's hut, the water fountain, and the beginnings of another tower. Should, in theory, go nicely with the new castle set's design.
  13. I'm probably in the minority on this, but I rather like the new AT-AT set. The more simplified design is something I like about it. Plust it comes with a decent amount of minifigures, so that's a plus. Though honestly, C-3P0 seems a little random in this set. Especially without R2-D2 along with him. I'm not sure I'll get it, but as it's my second favorite vehicle from Star Wars, and was featured in my absolute favorite Star Wars movie, there's a good chance I will. I'm already planning on getting the midi-scaled Imperial Star Destroyer, as it's my absolute favorite vehicle in the Star Wars universe. Edit: Didn't realize it was a TRU exclusive. That fact alone will mean I'll probably not get it, as I've never had any luck getting anything that was a TRU exclusive. Oh well, I've got more important, and more expensive sets to get this year. At the very least I'll still get the MS ISD set. Should go nicely with my mini X-Wing (won't be in-scale, but they'll look nice next to each other).
  14. The main Harry Potter thread was getting off topic, so as suggested by FilmGirl27, I've made a new thread for this topic, and to allow the other thread to get back on track. Basically just a thread to post your custom minifigs, ideas, suggestions, etc... Edit: Personally, these are the one's I'm planning on making (don't have all the parts yet). -Kingsley Shacklebolt -Madam Pomfrey -Fred Weasley -George Weasley -Aberforth Dumbledore -Death Eaters (2) -Myself (basically a theoretically version of me within the HP universe) I have some more in mind, but those are the only one's I'm currently planning on doing.
  15. Eh, the head from the PoP set does, to at least some degree work, but as I'm planning on using a custom decal for his robes, I might as well do the same for his face. I'll probably end up getting a torso and legs for him with a custom set I'm currently designing, and I'll probably get the hands for him from the Minifig series 2 Patrolman (looks like he's got brown hands/gloves anyways). As far as I know they should, as I believe the are just a standard minifigure, and the magnet is built into the little base/stand thing they come with. Good Idea, I'll start one here in a sec. Edit: Here it is- http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=40204
  16. Not that I know of, but there's bound to be something out there that could work. Personally, I'm considering going the decal route. That way I can get decent, and somewhat accurate, minifigures for the Weasley Twins, Kingsley Shacklebolt, and several others. The part I'm really not looking forward to is the head decals. I'll have to practice a bit before I go and work on the final figures.

Thanks for the tip (I wasn't sure what previous sets the hair piece had come in). I was first considering the car as it's currently out, and as such quite easy to get. I'll probably end up just waiting for the second series to the Minifigs to come out. The Weightlifter and Surfer minifigures appear to have hair pieces that'll work for my purposes. I still might get the car, as it looks nice, and the hoody and briefcase could be useful.
  18. Great review. This is one of the minifigures I'm hoping to get when these things come out (shouldn't be too hard to just feel the bag to try and recognize certain pieces). Not sure what I'll do with it, as most of my Lego's are Harry Potter themed, and the only one's I know I'll be getting are all Harry Potter themed. Might make for a nice ghoul for the Burrow set, or even work nicely for an inferi.

Just curious, I have a question for anybody who owns the Small Car set. Is the hair piece on the minifigure black or dark brown? I'm thinking about using it for a Harry Potter minifigure, but can't tell what color it exactly is. Thanks in advance for any help with this. Edit: Nevermind, I've found the review of the set The hairpiece is definitely a shade of dark brown, instead of the black I was hoping it would be. Oh well, the shape of it would have made for a perfect hair piece for Harry Potter, who's hair piece has always seemed way too big for his head).
  20. The main color definitely looks the same, but the printing looks like it could be different. It's hard to see, but the printing on the left there (Dumbledore's right hand side), looks different, to me at least. It looks like it has some white/light gray wavy lines, or something. Speaking of Dumbledore, I like the color of the wand he's holding (would also work for Hermione's wand, imo). Same goes for all the other wands in these sets. It's finally nice to see some variation int he colors. It's laying on the floor in Dumbledore's office, but you can clearly see that Voldemort is getting a white wand for this set (it was black in the Graveyard Duel set). One thing I find interesting is that the Harry Potter Hogwarts game (the Lego board-game thing) appears to come with a dark brown cat (presumably McGonagall). I'm considering using it as Mrs. Norris, and then using the Mrs. Norris that comes with the castle as Crookshanks. Good point. They did it with Lego Star Wars I & II, so it would make sense they would do it with Harry Potter.
  21. I was wandering when they would release the PoA themed trailer. The game is looking quite good. Would be cool if we finally got Lego set of the Womping Willow, and that new dog design looks quite good. The time-turner is quite interesting too, and would be interesting, imo, to see made for an actual set. It's a little odd seeing them use the old style for the Dementors, but oh well. Can't wait to see the GoF themed trailer and my favorite minifigure in motion (Moody). There's really only one bad thing about this game, imo at the very least, and that's the fact that it isn't coming out for PS2. I don't own any of the newer video game systems, and would rather not get it for my computer. Who know, this year might be the year I finally get a new gaming system (I'm thinking a DS or a Wii). Looking at the six new sets, it looks as though almost all of them will be coming with at least one owl. Which is a good thing, as I really like the new design for them. The Freeing Dobby set is the only one that doesn't look like it will. Though the Quidditch Match set only appears to have one on the box sample, so it might not have one either (the actual set on display doesn't look like it has one). Hagrid's Hut and Burrow sets have at least one each, the train has three, and the castle hast at least two.
  22. I'm not sure, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was at least a year, if not longer (from design to development). It really depends on wheter or not Lego is waiting to see how the six sets coming out this year sell. If they are, then I don't think they'd have enough time to fully develop and produce another wave of sets in time for DH part 2. If they aren't, they could already be in the process of designing another wave of sets. It's definitely a wait and see situation. Most likely I think they are waiting to see how these new sets sell, since poor sales was one of the main reasons they only made one OotP set, and didn't make any HBP sets. Then if they sell well enough we'll probalby see another wave of sets released about the same time as the second video game.
  23. Yeah, Flying would be cool. Especially if they could design him to go into a perched position too. That way one could have the option of either having him perched in Dumbledore's office, or flying about the castle. Yeah, the lack of supporting characters wouldn't help the set sell. Though if the fifth minifigure was of a popular character, or even exclusive to that one set, it could help. Plus if they were to advertise it's compatibility with the first set, that could also help. A new face would be interesting, or at least another expression on the other side of his head (not necessarily an angry face, but one of extreme concentration, like when he's dueling, would probably work). Though personally I really like the one he already has. The positioning of the glasses is, imo, perfect.
  24. I think I remember reading that someone who saw them in-person claimed she had a double sided head. Though I can't be fully sure it wasn't just a comment spawned from speculation. Still, would be quite odd if she doesn't have one. A lot of minifigures from these sets seem to have double sided heads. It's kinda hard to tell, but it looks as though Dumbledore has a new torso print design. Kinda pointless for him to have any torso printing due to the beard covering most of his front, but it definitely looks different from the GoF version of him. I wasn't planning on it, but I have a feeling that I'll be getting the Quidditch Match set when these come out. Mostly for the minifigures, but the other elements are quite nice too. If they were to decide to make more sets, an additional set to this one wouldn't be hard to do. Basically just alter the minifigures to be Quidditch players from Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff, change the colors of the stands to another one of the houses, change/alter the trophy & stand to something else, and replace Madam Hooch with another teacher/bystander (Luna w/lion hat would be perfect, imo). I also have a bad feeling that I'll cave and get the Hogwarts Express set too. It's expensive, imo, but the train looks nice, and it would be nice to have certain minifigures. Plus the car would go nicely with the Burrow set. Also can't have too many owls. Looking at the castle set, there's really only two things I would add to it. Though admittedly doing so would cause Dumbledore's office to be a bit too full. The pensieve, which would just need to be a silver plate piece, and Fawkes, which would just need to be a slight update to the one released during Chamber of Secrets.
  25. That is a good point, but considering that one of the reasons Lego only made one OotP sets, and never made any HBP sets is because they were too expensive to produce for how the HP themed sets had been selling, I wouldn't at all be surprised if Lego was waiting to see how these new sets do before deciding whether or not to continue. By then it would be too late to develop and produce another wave of sets in time for DH part 2. Personally I'm hoping they've already got another wave of sets in the works. We'll just have to wait and see. Anyways, back to the sets we know we'll be getting. The only actual dissapointing thing about these sets, is Harry. Which, for being the title character, is kinda sad. I'm fine with his face design, and the uniform looks good, but it's the hair piece that bothers me. With several other characters getting new hair designs, it would have made perfect sense to update Harry too. Like suggested earlier in the thread, a simple black version of Anakin's hair piece would have worked.
