  1. The exclusive minifig is a bit disappointing, imho. If it absolutely had to be Harry, a Deathly Hallows themed Harry would have been much better. Would also have been the perfect way to give him a new hair piece (the old one is waaay outdated). The poly sets look nice. If I see them at retail I'll definitely get them. Some potions stuff would be nice, another printed owl can only be a good thing, and a Harry minifig that isn't in his uniform is nice to see. I'm actually kinda surprised nobody's mentioned the new pictures of this year's main three sets: http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=4865-1 http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=4866-1 http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=4867-1 Kinda hoping these are still preliminary to a certain extent. I can understand Harry wearing his uniform in the castle set, but the Forest and Knight Bus sets Harry's should be in normal/muggle clothing. I'm still slightly miffed at the lack of the Grim/dog-form Sirius for the Knight Bus set. I'll still get it, but even a re-release of the original gray dog would have been preferred over nothing.
  2. The only major detail about these three new sets that I hope gets changed for the production versions, is Harry's outfit in the Forbidden Forest set. I can get over him wearing his school uniform in the Battle for Hogwarts set, as it is a part of the castle, and can represent scenes from pretty much all the movies, but the Forbidden Forest set is a very specific scene, and it just doesn't make sense for him to be wearing his uniform. Won't stop me from buying it, but he'll most likely be thrown into the extra pieces bin if he still has the uniform for the production set.
  3. Hadn't thought about that, but that does make sense.
  4. As I understand it, not all of last years sets sold that well. That and HP themed sets have had, in previous years, a hard time selling well. Which is why GoF only got four sets, OotP only got the one, and HBP didn't get any. I personally think we're lucky to be getting these three. Plus, they'll be releasing another game at some point, so they could be saving some set ideas to release in tandem with that.
  5. Nice to finally see a shot of the interior (fbtb doesn't have ANY hp pics ). Kinda bland, but the final production version could have more than this display model does, so I'll wait and see before making a final judgment. What I can see I do like. The Mirror of Erised is a really nice touch. The Gryfindor bunk bed section is unexpected, but looks good. The classroom/office is nice. Depending on how detailed that chalkboard is, it could theoretically belong to any one of the numerous teachers. Not sure what that section is below the classroom/office, but I like the tapestries on the walls. Wouldn't surprise me if that part of the tower was incomplete. I still think the basement sections could be the chamber of secrets. Should be interesting to see what the bridge's gimmick is. It does something, but I can't really tell what from these pictures. Honestly would have been ok with it not having any sort of gimmicks to it. Still definitely going to get it, but not as enthused for it as I am the others. I also really hope that last years castle set does get re-released with these. Will try and save-up so that when/if I ever see it again, I'll be able to get it. Looking at their pictures of the Knight Bus, the "Dre Head" as they call it looks nice, and actually isn't a minifigure head (not a bad thing, as he's still more than just printing on the windshield). The bus itself definitely looks better the more I see it. The purple is quite nice, and I love that it has the chandelier (sorta looks like it can swing too). Ernie and Stan both look nice, and Harry isn't bad himself. Only disappointing detail about this set is the lack of the grim, and part of me thinks that could change for the production version. The Forbidden Forest set continues to look good. Might actually get multiples of this set just to have more than one of that tree. The extra minifigures might also be helpful in looking to trade for other characters I don't have yet (like Grayback).
  6. Not that I've seen, yet, but I'm hoping we get some soon. I'll be surrpised if part of one of the towers isn't made-up to look like part of the room of requirement. I also wouldn't be too surprised if one of the towers rocky basements was a small version of the chamber of secrets.
  7. All three sets look great. Some slight disappointments, but nothing that'll stop me from buying them. The lack of any sign of the grim being included in the Knight Bus set is somewhat disappointing, but oh well, my dream of a minifigure head painted-up as the shrunken head have been realized. Can't read it, but the text under him on the front of the preliminary packaging looks like it says something different. Maybe Lego will be the first to give him a real name? The bus itself is slightly underwhelming, but definitely better than it's predecessor. Might order some parts to spruce it up a bit. Can't really tell what's going on inside of it, but it looks like the interior is nicely detailed. Hedwig's inclusion is nice, as is Ernie Prang's, and what seems to be the only Harry not in uniform in these sets. The Battle for Hogwarts set continues to look good. Other than Lucious being included, and Harry being in his school uniform, this set looks pretty much perfect. Nagini is a nice little surprise. Maybe this set will have a sword after all I love the globe they've put in what I'm going to call the astronomy tower. Are there any interior pictures of this set? (haven't seen any, but haven't really looked for them, lol). The Forbidden Forest is actually the best out of these new sets, imho. It's nice to see that Hagrid actually is in this set, and that Narcissa's minifigure has turned out quite well. The two-toned hair looks better than I thought it would. I find it slightly funny that the set on display has Voldemort holding Narcisa's wand, and her holding his. Harry being in his uniform is disappointing, but hopefully that'll change for the production version (the preliminary packaging shows him in normal clothing, so hopefully that par ends up more accurate than the set on display). The "forest" itself is actually quite nice. I'm assuming that the tan baseplates will end-up green for the production version. The tree is nice and big, and I love the inclusion of the mushroom. The blue flames are a nice inclusion, and make sense, since this set's story is going to be...tamer than the actual scene in the book/movie is. Nagini's inclusion in this set is nice to see. Would have been amazing if she was a new piece, and could be coiled around Voldemort, but this will do nicely. Even if this set ends up getting released later than the other two, I'll still probably get this set first, lol. While I'll be getting all three, this is the one I want the most. Will be nice to finally have a Lego Hagrid, and from a nice cheap set is a nice bonus. Is it just me, or does it look like last year's Quidditch Match, Hagrid's Hut, Burrow, and Hogwarts sets are going to be rereleased this year? Would be great, as it would be nice to have a second chance to buy the castle set (only saw it at retail once).
  8. Honestly, considering it's just a $12 set, I think we'll be extremely lucky to get Harry, Hagrid, Voldemort, and Narcissa in it. As much as I would love for Bellatrix to be in the set too, I honestly can't see it happening. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the set only had Harry, Voldemort, and Narcissa. The most minifigures to come in a $10-13 Harry Potter themed set has been three (would be epic if this set finally brought that up to four). Tomorrow should be one great day. Can't wait to see what Lego has in-store for us with the Knight Bus set. I'm excited for all three sets, but I'm most excited for the new Knight Bus. Probably helps that PoA is my favorite of the books/movies, and I never did get the original one (still have the mini version of it though).
  9. Not "worried" about getting news from Toy Fair, was just curious if anybody on here was going to be among those reporting from the event. I'll be surprised if Brickset doesn't have their own report up at some point. Also, as Mrlegoninja has pointed out, FBTB seems to focus just on Star Wars, so there's no telling if they'll have news on any of the other themes, let alone pictures. As for the prices of the sets, not a surprise there. It was easy to guess the prices of the Forbidden Forest and Battle for Hogwarts sets based off of their box dimensions, which happen to be the same as last year's Freeing Dobby and Hagrid's Hut sets. The price of the Knight Bus is still anybody's guess at the moment, as it's box dimensions don't match-up with any of last year's sets. Hopefully the overall set is bigger than the original's. That way they can add more detail to the bus itself, and hopefully give the shrunken head some justice by making him a minifigure head rather than printing on the window (I probably sound like a broken record, lol). I'm not sure if it's just me, but every time I try to imagine what the front of the new Knight Bus set's box will look like, I laugh a little. Something about that big purple bus on a mostly red colored box just sounds like it would look funny to me.
  10. Assuming that one of the towers is going to represent Ravenclaw tower, I wouldn't be surprised if the statue of her was in this set. Would technically be a minifigure, but looking back at pictures of last years castle set, the knight figure wasn't advertised on the front of the box, or in the minifigure line-up. Makes sense to me anyways. Also, I'm really hoping that the Harry figure included ends up in his "normal" clothes rather than his school uniform. Neville isn't wearing his uniform, so I don't see why Harry should. Can't wait to see more pictures of the Battle for Hogwarts set, and to finally see pictures of the other two sets. Out of curiosity, anybody here going to be reporting from the New York Toy Fair?
  11. This. Although the same mask thing doesn't bother me a whole lot. I'll probably have Lucious keep his normal face turned forward most of the time anyways. Also, it's not that they didn't give us another new minifigure, it's just that he really makes no sense in the set, and there are some minifigures they've also recently used that would have made much more sense. Bellatrix, Grayback, or even another Dementor would have been really nice. I would even be happy with his spot taken up by another Ron, tbh. Lucious being included isn't going to stop me from buying the set, but it's still disappointing to see him again. The other minifigures are going to be good enough to overshadow that dissapointment, especially Lupin and Neville. Part of me is really hoping that they re-release some of last years sets when they release these three new sets. Would be nice to have a second chance to buy the castle set and Hagrid's Hut.
  12. Narcissa has been confirmed by a reliable source to be in the Forbidden Forest set. Lucious was in the Graveyard Duel set, but that wasn't the last set he was in. He was in last year's Freeing Dobby set, and he's in this years Diagon Alley set, so having him in the Battle for Hogwarts set just seems redundant. He's still decently useful as a generic Death Eater, but just barely (I'll probably end-up flipping the torso backwards and swapping the arms to give him a plain black chest instead of Malfoy's unique jacket). It is preliminary, but I think that the character choices are final. I imagine certain minifigures will look different. Especially Lupin and Neville. Don't they use pre-existing pieces for minifigures they haven't finished the design of just yet? (like Voldemort wearing green in the preliminary pictures, and wearing black for the actual production). I remember last year the preliminary boxes had all the correct names for the minifigures, but the images weren't the final version of them. It's a bit fuzzy, but if you zoom in on the BfH set image, you can see that the minifigs match-up with the names on the box, so any differences for the production version will be how they look, rather than who they are.
  13. Noticed that too. Not much to go off of, but it's probably the Forbidden Forest set. I don't think any of the Knight Bus minifigures will have a cloak. It makes me hopefully that pictures of the other two sets are out there. It's jut a matter of finding them, lol. If not, we'll most likely get some pictures from the New York Toy Fair anyways.
  14. Sorry, I meant the picture of the Battle for Hogwarts set (fixed that )
  15. The picture we've got of the Battle for Hogwarts set confirms it's seven minifigures, and Huw over at Brickset confirmed Narcissa for the forest set and Harry, Stan (the "driver"), and Ernie (the "old guy") for the bus set. Only one technically not confirmed, is Harry for the forest set, but I believe it's safe to assume he'll be in that one too.
  16. I just think that his spot could easily have gone to someone more fitting (Grayback or Bellatrix would have been better, imho). He really didn't have a big part in the battle anyways, and the only memorable moment (that I can remember) was after the battle. Will still get the set, but I'll be giving the fig a black hood and using it as a generic Death Eater. Can't wait to see how the other two have turned out. The more I think about it, the more excited I get for the new Knight Bus set. Especially since it'll have Ernie in it. I'm really hoping that the forest set has Voldemort and Hagrid in it. However, I have a bad feeling it won't have Hagrid. So far, these are the confirmed minifigures: FF: -Harry Potter -Narcissa Malfoy KB: -Harry Potter -Stan Shunpike -Ernie Prang BfH: -Harry Potter -Neville Longbottom -Remus Lupin -PR.Sprout -Gregory Goyle -Lucious Malfoy -Dementor Which brings the list to 12, though there's a good chance the forest set will have at least one more minifigure in it. I would add animals to the list, but so far none have been confirmed. I think it's likely that the Knight Bus set will have the grim and Hedwig, and I'm hopeful that the forest set will have Nagini.
  17. Looks like a really good set. Will definitely have to get this when it comes out. Harry was inevitable, but I find it odd that he's in his school uniform (maybe this is preliminary packaging?). Neville and Sprout look really good, and the Dementor is a really nice surprise. Goyle is surprising, and while I would rather see someone else, I don't have too big of an issue with his inclusion (just seems odd considering what happens in the movie...). Lupin is a really nice surprise. Wasn't expecting him at all. However it's disappointing, to me at least, to see Lucious being included in the set. Almost makes me buying the Freeing Dobby set pointless, since his minifigure was a big factor in that decision. Seven minifigures in one set is really cool. Kinda surprised Snape isn't in this set, given that leaked picture. I'm already looking forward to seeing how the interiour spaces of each tower turn out. Wouldn't surprise me if the one Pr. Sprout is in is meant to be Ravenclaw tower. Can't wait to see the other sets. Hopefully the Forbidden Forest set has the four minifigs currently rumored/confirmed for it. Most especially Voldemort and Hagrid. I'm also really hoping the new Knight Bus turns out great. Between this, Transformers, Halo Reach, and Thundercats, my wallet ain't going to be happy, lol...
  18. It's already been stated that it'll have two towers and an entrance way, and the figures we currently know about are Harry, Neville, Pr.Sprout, and Snape, though it's possible there are more, and Neville could turn out to be someone else. Harry, Stan, and Ernie have been confirmed, but there hasn't been any mention of Sirius being included. Though his dog/grim form will probably be included. Hopefully it isn't too long till we get some solid info from the Nuremberg Toy Fair. I'm happy enough to wait for the New York Toy Fair to get pictures, but some solid info about the sets would definitely help the wait. The report over at Brickset was quite vague, tbh.
  19. Don't forget about Harry. He'll inevitably be in all three of these sets. As cool as it would be to finally have a Lego Fang, I don't think he'll be in this set. Fang, as far as I can remember, wasn't in that particular scene at all. Also, I'm still not fully convinced that Hagrid is in the set. Huw over at Brickset mentioned him every time he described the set, but never really confirmed him for it either. Minifigure wise that should be correct (fixed the typo for you), and as far as I can tell all three are confirmed (the "old man" minifigure Huw mentioned sounds like it's definitely Ernie). Though since you're including animals to the list, I would also add the grim and Hedwig. I doubt this set will have eight minifigures in it. That would make the total list 15, but for all we know there could only be 12 minifigs in these sets. Pr.Sprout and Snape have been pretty much confirmed for this set. Also, part of me has a hard time seeing this set include minifigs of Lupin, Tonks, Kingsley, and Luna. I would also hope that the set won't be so one-sided, it is a battle after all. As for animals, I honestly don't think they count as minifigures, but at the same time I'm not 100% sure on that. Anyways, we'll just have to wait and see. The Nuremberg Toy Fair starts tomorrow, anybody here going? From what I've read it isn't as strict with photography as the London one is.
  20. It would definitely be awesome to see the theme continued for several more years, but I honestly can't see it happening. Harry Potter is popular, but Lego has had problems selling sets even with a new movie coming out (it's the reason OotP only got one set, and HBP didn't get any). I think part of the reason last years sets sold so well, was because the common thought was that they were going to be the last HP themed sets made. DHp1 had at least some reason behind the good sales too. I can imagine another wave of sets being released around the same time as the second HP Lego game, but I won't be surprised if those end-up being the last sets we see. Although there is the inevitable Ultimate years 1-7 DVD release, with all the extras one could want, that could, theoretically, be big enough for Lego to make another small wave of sets...maybe. We'll just have to wait and see. Not sure if it's been brought up or not, but seeing as there is a Star Wars advent calendar coming out this year, would it be too out of the question for a Harry Potter advent calendar to come out next year? I myself would definitely get one if ever made. Would be the perfect opportunity for them to finally make a Lego Blast-Ended Skrewt. Something roughly the size of the beetle in those new Egyptian themed sets would work. Anyways, back to the topic at-hand, lol, I think that the sales for this years three sets will have a major affect on what, and how many, sets we get in the figure. I'll definitely be getting all three of them. Might even cut-back on my TF collecting for a short while to do so, lol.
  21. Ok, thanks. I wasn't sure if that was the case or not. Still, if what I remember from the box sizes is correct, than the Battle for Hogwarts set should only be about $40 (wasn't it the same size as last years Hagrid's Hut set? or am I remembering it incorrectly, lol). Although I have to say, $20 more would definitely allow for more minifigs, and considering the two towers and entrance, a fair amount of detail for the interior parts. As for the possibility of more sets after these three, I would love to see it happen, but don't count on it. Will definitely wait for some form of confirmation. Would make sense to release a couple more sets to coincide with the second game. Maybe we could finally get an OotP Sirius minifigure and maybe even a Kreacher minifigure. Will have to wait and see. Also, 100th post. Finally a Citizen
  22. Any idea what the prices will be in $? I've converted those, but either the conversion thing I used is off, or it's not just a simple matter of converting it from one to the other. I keep getting the below results, which don't match up with the box sizes (unless I'm not remembering the box sizes correctly). 4865 -> $20 4866 -> $55 4867 -> $80 We were told that there would be "12-15" minifigures, so the list only having 12 in it doesn't make it incorrect or incomplete. There could very well be more than 12, but for all we know there might not be. Considering that the Forbidden Forest set and the Knight Bus set combined will have, at the most, a total of 7 minifigures, that leaves somewhere between 5 and 8 minifigures for the Battle for Hogwarts set. Considering it's size, I'm thinking it'll have closer to 5. Though the more the better. Especially if it means that the potential Ravenclaw tower will have the statue of Rowena herself. If the set could have a total of 8 minifigures in it, than this is what I hope they'll be: -Harry Potter -Neville Longbottom -Pr.Sprout -the Gray Lady -Rowena Ravenclaw statue -Lord Voldemort -Bellatrix Lestrange -Severus Snape By the sounds of it, Hagrid should also be in the set, though Huw's comments over at Brickset have been a bit confusing on that part. Every time he mentions the Forbidden Forest set he mentions Hagrid, but in a way that doesn't confirm or deny his possible inclusion in the set. As for the marketability of the set, I think it makes sense. Hagrid's been captured, and Harry comes to his rescue. It's not what happens in the book/movie, but I can't see them giving it an accurate bit of story to go with it. Would be one depressing Lego set, lol.
  23. I can't see Flitwick or McGonagal showing up in the Battle for Hogwarts set, tbh. Would be nice, but they're inclusion in last years castle set makes it unlikely they'll be in this years set. Slughorn would be interesting, but there's several other characters I'd rather see instead of him. Although Snape is pretty much confirmed for it, via the leaked picture. Oddly enough I can't find any mention of Voldemort being in any of the sets. Though I imagine he'll at least be in the Battle for Hogwarts set, if not also in the Forbidden Forest set. Hopefully we'll get some pictures from the Nuremburg Toy Fair, which I've heard is a bit more lax when it comes to picture taking. Also seems to be one of the longest ones, as it starts on the third, and doesn't end till the eighth. That's twice as long as the New York Toy Fair. I'm really looking forward to all three sets, but so far, the Knight Bus sounds the most promising. I just really hope that the shrunken head (really need to come up with a name for him) ends up as more than just printing on the windshield.
  24. Finally got myself one of the 2010 sets while at Target today (the Freeing Dobby set), and I was thinking about this years new sets while putting it together. Since the Battle for Hogwarts set contains "two towers and an entrance", wouldn't it be epic of one of the towers was Ravenclaw tower? It's integral to the plot in DH, so it would definitely make sense. Would also make sense if the set is meant to connect to last year's castle set. Given that it sounds like the set will contain both Pr. Sprout and Neville, I'm really hoping they give us at least one mandrake, and at least one tentacula (though the more the merrier).
  25. Out of curiosity, could someone ask if he meant that Hagrid was actually in the set, or if he was just using Hagrid as a way to reference that scene without ruining it for those reading the article who haven't read the book. I'm really hoping that Hagrid is in the set (would be nice to be able to get him in a cheap set), but at the same time part of me has a really hard time seeing that happen. Edit: Honestly, there is no way that the woman in the FF set is Maxime. Hagrid only get's captured in DH. In CoS he went willingly, and in OotP they tried to capture him, but he got away and went into hiding. It's almost certainly Narcissa, due to her importance in that scene. Only other possibility would be Bellatrix, but I don't think it's her, as she wasn't that important in the scene (not compared to her sister's importance anyways).
