Could 2014 Make Lego Fans Bankrupt?
BrickBuilder3213 replied to BrickBuilder3213's topic in General LEGO Discussion
To be honest, this will end up being the last year where I buy a large amount of sets, regardless whether I want them or not. Buying sets like Battle For Ninjago City, Ultra Agents Mission HQ, the Exo-Suit and Queen Beast Vs. Furno, Evo & Stormer is just going to drain my budget away. -
Alright, I know what you're all thinking. "This guy's a moron!" Well, that's true in a lot of ways... But please, hear me out. This year has been a rather fantastic experience for Lego fans all around the world. So many great new themes and sets have been released, such as Ultra Agents, Juniors, Mixels and, of course... The Lego Movie. A theme that had been on hiatus has made it's presence known once more, in the form of Ninjago: Rebooted. Multiple Lego Cuusoo/Ideas sets have been released/revealed, such as the Ecto-1, the Research Institute and the (highly anticipated) Exo-Suit... ...But all of those sets cost money. And when you put all of those sets together, you've got over at least £600/$700 in plastic parts. That's a SERIOUS amount of money. While this year has been one of the best years a lot of us have seen for a while, this is also one of the most expensive years we've ever had. I'm sure that a lot of people have already bought a ton of sets that they really like. But, what if these sets drain our wallets out of our money? What if we end up with no money left to spend on next year's sets? I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts on this. I just think that there's a chance that a lot of us might spend too much money, this year.

Review: 44029 Queen Beast vs. Furno, Evo & Stormer
BrickBuilder3213 replied to VBBN's topic in LEGO Action Figures
I feel that this set would've originally been two seperate sets in the design stage: Evo Spider Machine (with the Spider Machine, blue-backed jumper and the cocoon) and Queen Beast Vs. Furno And Stormer (everything else). -
This is bad. This is really bad. Lego could've waited just one more year and could've given Hero Factory a proper final wave, but no. Now there's a chance that the final wave of HF sets will be similar to Bionicle Stars.

LEGO Ultra Agents 2014

I can now see why Infearno Interception is the best set in this wave. Feature-heavy, a great build and great minifigures! My only gripe is the ejector seat function. It just doens't work for me. -
To put it simply, after seeing the season finale for this year... ...Now we know why Zane is in this set. And why he was the main focus throughout the year.

Just out of interest, what do we know about the mysterious Hooded Figure so far? -
Technically, it contains a Nindroid and a Nindroid Drone with a mask on it's head.

To those who have the Ultra Agents HQ, I have a question... If all the features were removed from out of the vehicle, would you be able to fit several jail cells that are 4x4 in width and length? I'd love to mod the truck so that it can act like a villain transport or a mobile jail. ;w; -
Does anyone have the Mechdragon? I'm quite curious about Nya's Car... Especially about the size of it.

I got Tremor Track Infiltration today... Oddly, the set came with a spare sticker sheet and two grey antennas, rather than one black one that appears in the instructions and on the box. I don't really know what to think of this set. It's great because of the functionality of the Tremor Tank (punching fists and flick-fire missiles), the two minifigures, the amount of tan pieces that you get in a single set and the overall look of the set when it's built. But, I do have a few nitpicks... Jack Fury's shield looks a bit... thrown in. It just doesn't work as a shield in my opinion. Also, the tank body is a little small for my tastes, but I can easily let that slide, because of the price. Overall, this is a pretty good set to get, especially if you like getting sets for the parts. As well as tan plates and slopes, you get multiple trans-coloured studs and 1x2 plates (the studs are in trans-orange and trans-clear, while the plates are in trans-red, trans-yellow and trans-blue). And of course, you get a new colour for the base of the Stud Launcher (in white) and Tremor's exclusive armour, which looks fantastic! -
Funny that you said that... Because that's one of the sets I'll be reviewing next, on my birthday! ^o^

Today, I got the Kai Fighter set from my local Smyths. And I must say... For £18, this is a fantastic set. The minifigs are very nice. Kai's new variation has rubber hair rather than plastic hair, similar to the Exo-Force human minifigures. General Cryptor is a very detailed minifigure and the main reason for why I wanted this set. Along with printed legs and a unique torso, he comes with his shoulder pads and katana holster, a typical Nindroid helmet and a unique face print, making him stand out amongst the other Nindroids. The fighter jet itself is a wonderous sight in itself. The sleek body design and wings make it look quite similar to the fighter jets we see in the real world. The set comes with two main fuctions: The ability to transform the jet into it's "Speed Mode" and the flick-fire missiles. To transform the jet into it's "Speed Mode", there's a lever that you can pull and push in order to switch between the two different modes. It's a very clever feature, and I have a feeling that the set designers were trying their best with coming up with such a well thought-out feature. Overall, I would recommend this set to anyone who needs Kai, General Cryptor and a ninja vehicle for a cheap price. However, if you want more of a playset than just two minifigures and a vehicle, get the Overborg Attack set.

The prices for the Combat Machine and the Queen Beast set have put me off of them completely. I mean, why would you charge £5 more for a set that has LESS pieces than the XL Machine? And to be honest, the Queen Beast doesn't look enticing at all. I won't be getting all of the Summer sets. And considering that I bought all of last year's sets without hesitation, that's saying a lot. :c

Get Infearno Interception, Riverside Raid and (if you have enough) Hurricane Heist. -
That's great news! :D I'll be able to buy the set, along with many others!
-
I'm really not sure whether I'll be buying any of the Summer sets this year. Especially since I'll be getting all of the Ninjago sets... ...Damn you, Lego. Damn you. ;o;
-
I already own the Hover Hunter. And yes, I am focusing on the minifigures, as well as the actual contents of the set. I'm seriously considering getting all of the Ninjago sets this year, rather than getting any HF sets. They're just too good to pass up! Even sets like Destructoid, the Nindroid Mechdragon and Battle For Ninjago City look fantastic! And even though they are a little bit out of my price range, I still want to get them! Does anyone know the UK price of Battle For Ninjago City? I need to know so that I can work out if I can afford all of the sets this year.
-
Which would be a better deal? 1. X-1 Ninja Charger & Destructoid 2. Ninjacopter & Thunder Raider
-
Actually... http://shop.lego.com/en-US/Ninjago-ByTheme?_requestid=789811 ...Battle For Ninjago City is out in America.
