  1. well it was working in Germany... at least although they are listed as backordered.
  2. Does anyone know why this set disappeared from S@H for all European countries - it is still available in USA?. Is it a shop exclusive or something?
  3. There was a thread on this a couple of years back. For normal outdoor rails; this is a good series from Marc FoundFrom memory the biggest issue on the previous threads were related to weathering / tempeature extremes / and discolouration / cleaning. Plastic toys are not meant to be outside all the time. One solution would be to design the layout and make a 'disused railway line' approach where during the outdoor activities it is easy to replace the track... for those summer days... and then tidy away again. Into safe storage for example. Secondly consider the buildings in a modular standard so they can also be easily tidied away. Hope it helps
  4. Those French... always beating the British. Actually it might be possible to find out who did it va these forums and flickR accounts.
  5. I saw this on a link elsewhere (theregister.co.uk) and thought it would be quite interesting for those building steam locomotives but wanting the benefits of electric. Ahem http://www.douglas-s...ec/swisselc.htm So who will be the first to add overheads to their nice old 0-6-0 locomotives; or indeed reinvigorate the 12V standard 7727 and 7730
  6. Arggggn my eyes are burning. Yellow in real life.... Dont let it be soooooooo Seriously for a minute im always impressed at how fantastically well detailed your models are. In Red. Of course! http://www.railfaneurope.net/pix/ch/SBB_CFF_FFS/diesel/Tm235/235_005_RBL.jpg http://www.railfaneurope.net/pix/ch/SBB_CFF_FFS/diesel/Tm235/SBB_Tm_235_009-8.jpg This would be a slightly nicer larger version. In Red. Of course. http://www.railfaneurope.net/pix/ch/SBB_CFF_FFS/diesel/Tm234/234_064-2.jpg And then as a little diddle litt'l one http://www.railfaneurope.net/pix/ch/SBB_CFF_FFS/diesel/Tm_I/439-Tm-mt.jpg
  7. Terrible. Terrible. How could you do this model in Yellow of all colours? Dont you know that Red is the only colour for these fantastic locomotives? The crane should be yellow not red. Im absolutely mortified at these issues and will continue to sulk in a sullen mood as I contemplate how these are not actually real functional varieties. I formally hang up my designing shoes.
  8. Eccentric being the technic engine cam shaft? Long enough to go through the wheel but then joining to an axle inside? Sorry brain not in right gear. As to crocodiles; first i have to clear up overstocking of my own designs and older mods and have a decent clear out - i prefer design process compared to running trains. My signature has links of some things for sale
  9. Blokbricks are really good and worth the $€ - you get a great service and parts really do look new. Im very satisfied with all their stuff
  10. Still seems to have some availability in the USA - but in Europe 'Ausverkauft' / 'Sold Out'
  11. There are some great threads on here whuch could be reused. How to modify a pf motor to look 12v like with bbb wheels and zephr connecting rods Upside down building Charactoristics of a good marshalling yard Exploration of narrow gauge mines of the world City trams of the world
  12. Seems when I get some time I will revist using these custom Rods for the EE 3/3 designs The main difference being that the attachment points are built above the actual rod (look at the front wheel). Of course once this is solved; it opens up the whole world of accurate modeling of the Crocodile series. Depending upon the build variation of the crocodiles, the two large drivers a coupled with a fixed rod; with the distant third driver coupled onto a linked mechanism (i think your existing rod's do most of this)... A combination with BB's medium driver wheels would also be nice for the EE 3/3 where the spacing is not 2 studs - there is a thread somewhere about why the spacing is non standard; and it relates to using a 2x2 plate at 45 degrees (i.e. spacing is 1.415 studs).
  13. Do people really want blue and white train track? Is there really a need? I will be donating over 500 straight and 500 curved pieces (unfortunately not enough white plates). I too had thought I would build a blue and white layout. For 3 years I thought about it. And for 3 years I did nothing until I realised I never would build anything and actually having the track used for a better cause would be much nicer. There is still a lot of blue track on Bricklink; but it does depend upon how much you want it for...
  14. 164 also has 3 optional models to build...
  15. Perhaps I have missed the links; but I would very much appreciate a mobile version of Lego Shop @ Home which allows you to access the themes in a much better way. Im fed up of all the screen jumps caused by the flash / pop up dialogs / content. Would other people appreciate a mobile version of the shop? I understand that for most buyers this is probably not interesting, but these days it should not be too difficult to have a smaller mobile version available.... thoughts? If there is enough response; could the ambassadors ask TLG?
  16. I was reading through Brickset and saw a reference to a Lone Ranger Train... and since the trailer for the film uses a heavy train influence... it is not beyond the realms of impossability that we get a revisted Toy Story locomotive. 79111 Constitution Train Chase 2013.... It might be old news but I was on holidays enjoying English Rain. Reminds me why I moved abroad.
  17. Well actually if TLG are clever and jump on the Raspberry bandwagon then there could be some really neat NXT V3 models - especially if considering the small OLED displays which can now be produced.
  18. I had started building a MOC for the modular contest which did exactly this - and put together unfinished base plates and walls. But real life intervened and never got beyond sketches and ldd MOC First in uk there are many Victorian streets which Finnish with a row blocking the end. Ground floor usually has an archway to access the rear gardens. This would span the 8 wide pavement and provide a logical line. Above would be larger flat of some sort with access door on the other side of the 8x8 corner pavement. To be honest it looks small if keeping to the modular standard My next idea was to turn more medieval - many European towns with 18c and 19c type buildings (like official sets) also have older medieval segments - a wall leading to an old tower gate house (joust) which would allow a wider footpath and a segment where cars now drive through into town. Possibly only one part of the old wall surviving... My other ideas may be turned into future mocs so I keep them for now...
  19. Looks great! The only issue i can see is that the wheel base of bogey is slighty too short. Perhaps space them slightly further apart as in the real versions?
  20. A quick inventory check would show http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?S=3735-1 Which uses http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=4183
  21. And damn good stickers they are too.... Good luck to all...
  22. Sometime over the summer I also did a Panorama wagon in the style of the older 182 models . I think the 7812 works better, but im afraid still no time for instructions.
  23. To free up space and create more cash flow for some excellent 2012 themes; I have decided to part with many of my older collection of Lego train wagons, locomotives, etc. Most are in the xxx numbering series, and either 4.5V or push along. There are some MOC's. Most wagons are listed separately to provide opportunities for builders to add specific elements if they wish. Currently items link to my Bricklink store (im fed up with ebay taxes): that way everyone can be happy with the transactions. However I am willing to accept sensible offers (especially with items), and also complete transactions outside of BL if you need. As with BL postage is at the buyers expense, but I will do my utmost to keep the costs as low as possible. Edit: List removed as items now on ebay. Bricklink store is now closed.
  24. This list is even harder than the other 2. Once again, based on techniques and what I would buy without hesitation. But all deserve to win. I also looked for something which was not just a mish-mash of existing modulars / town houses -> i.e. something new and refreshing. 5: AllanSmith 1 14: Alex54 1 - I just love the windows. 19: Sorensen 1 - To go with the Monster Fighters - oh yeah! 22: MatN 1 - nice to see something from the English countryside, although a tan version would look better for Bath Stone. 27: Myko 1
  25. The options here are far too difficult. So many great entries which all deserve many points each. But I will have to make hard decisions based upon those I would purchase without a second thought: mainly where a good idea pervades or technique is excellent. 5: Caparica - 2 16: Sid Sidious - 2 15: Oky - 1
