  1. It looks a good start. I like small mocs. It looks like the ruins of an old fort. If I may make suggestions, add stairs from the fort to the pier, a boat, and 1 or 2 cannons of course...
  2. Hi My advice is to not buy this imitation brands. I bought a couple of small sets (not pirate) from a friend, just to see and as they were really cheap. it was enlighten brand. Attention that the pictures in the boxes are not the real product inside. The minifigs are worthless, the colors are diferent, the faces are ughly. The plastic is kind of softer and wears , scratches easily, and is less shiny. The acessories, pistols, guns, swords, flags, are acceptable. The gaps when connecting pieces are visible but not horrible (in this case lego is falling down in quality either). But I advice not to buy. I saw the prices in ebay for this clone brands and I think they are way too high (including shipping) for the product. People are taking advantage from the fact that there are no lego pirates anymore and they are ripping people off with this products. Take a little time and search in ebay and you find used lego sets and pieces that are better and sometimes cheaper than this.
  3. Great work! I think once you put in some flags, cannons, treasures, vegetation, etc... it will look a lot better. I like what you did with the baseplates. If I am alowed to make a suggestion, I would change the roof of the governors quarters (the white slopes and that grey plate), maybe a roof like the other buildind (flat and with the fence pieces). Congratulations on your work.

  5. agreed ....exo force could do without the funny eyes. the accents (like bandana, sunglasses, scar) are enough to differentiate hikaru from takeshi from ryo...etc. not sure why they can't just stick to round eyeballs. it's easier and better for moc'ing too. That's it...I bought 2 exo-force sets and I didn't like the minifigs faces. I liked the colors, I liked the hair,... but something was wrong: the eyes. They don't look like lego faces to me. Not to mention the exo-force robots, they are so ughly.
  6. Yes, I really don't like the Tiny Turbo packaging either but a least it's recyclable. That's where mine have gone - in the recycling bin! The X-Pod packaging tho is made of ABS and has studs on, making it useful in lots of cool creations, eg. http://members.lycos.co.uk/legoville/lego/...129mecha01s.jpg More small sets please Lego! I have bought all of the small City, Vikings, Exo-Force and Tiny Turbo sets. There have been some fantastic designs, and I don't have to justify the expenditure, I can just buy them on a whim. :-) I disagree with you guys about the Tiny Turbo's boxes, along with X-pods, this are the best boxes lego has this days. I mean for a kid or someone who doesn't have a big collection and just have a few sets to play it is really important the box can be reusable to store the pieces. I understand that for a big collecter or an AFOL who probably has his own sistem for sorting and storaging the boxes are not important. Well for me the boxes are important. It's always disappointing when you spend 50 or 100 euros on a big lego set and the box it comes with is so fragile and has no use anymore.

    Armada Sentry

I have already dismanteled it. There are a few ideas I have for the next mocs: a pirates island, a fort on the rocks, a lighthouse, ...but I don't know when I'll start. I really love the original Lego pirate sets, I never get bored of looking at them and having them in the original form in the shelves... but the closets and shelves in my house seem to be getting smaller since I started to collect lego again, so I start putting them all in boxes and organizing things better.

Thanks for the comments. They are a motivation for me to continue building and improve.
  9. I love it, good design, great details. Keep up the good work.
  10. Hi I just wanted to share my thoughts about the good small sets TLC has this days. I bought today 2 Exo-force sets (the cheapest ones: uplink and sentry) and I have to say, although I am not a fan of Exo-Force I liked them a lot. I mean for this price Lego is really giving a good product. A few months ago I was also surprised with the design and quality of the Tiny Turbo sets. For the price I think they are excelent, just the box is worth half that price (unlike the most expensive sets boxes witch are very pooor) I also bought the cheapest Dino 2010 set (the little quad bike) and once again: good pieces, cool minifg and good playability for a small set. I think this is the right way to go and a good way to get new costumers, giving them good, cheap, small sets... if they like they will come for more. Conclusion. Lego company please make more small sets!

It just because I'm a little lazy to start somethig from scratch, it is easyer to modify and try to improve somethig that already exists. I have only made small mocs because I still don't have as many pieces as I like. What do you mean by the other half? the back side? If you notice it I don't even have enough baseplate for this half... :-)

    Sabre Island

I never thought about it. I just build for fun and to play with my son.

    Sabre Island

The dark grey on the left side and the light grey of the stairs on the rock are the new grey colors (their both from the set 4496) the diference is not much. I saw peolple talking about bley and I wasn't sure what it was, the rock pieces I have are the old dark grey and compared the new bricks are more bluish but I tought this was due to the old pieces being yelowed with age. The diferent shades of grey don't bother me much because I don't have large amounts of old greys so I will have to mixe them all if I want to do something.

    Sabre Island

I think that for a tower the sabre island is very small, that's why I put an extra level. In fact there are no stairs, but that's like the original set. To put stairs it wouldf have to be a lot larger and that would take the slim and elegant look the tower has. I don't mind if it is no very realistic. About the wind, this set is for indoors use only... :-) I would like to ask (I'm so ignorant about this :-$ ) what do you call bley? is it the dark or light grey? In this set I use some dark grey rock bricks (bought used) and some light and dark grey bricks I bought new (set 4496).

Here are the pictures of the new modified version: I made it higher, changed the rock bricks (now all dark grey), improved the little crane (now it can rotate). the original Sabre Island set to compare my moc version thanks for looking and commenting.

    Sabre Island

Well, I think I got a good price on both deals: Sabre Island for 9,5 euro, postage included (no box or instructions, one flag missing) 5 rock pieces dark grey for 6 euro, postage included (they were for the underwater theme with some stickers on them but easily removed) Both items from germany. I am very patience and I only bid reasonable prices I don
  20. I think those helmets look great. Can you tell me if the paint wears off easily, or you can handle the pieces just like original lego painted/printed pieces?
  21. Hey it's lego. Combining things it's what you are supposed to do... as long as you like it. By the way pirates and castle are my favourite themes so combinig both I think it's great.

    Sabre Island

Hi Yesterday I received a Sabre Island set I bought on ebay. It's the first one I got, I love it, is such a cool and perfect small set. The printed baseboard, the cool tower, the three minifigs, the boat...everything perfect! I also got some rock bricks at the same time and as soon I saw them I think I have to do somethig with this... Well I made a modified version of sabre Island, it is not quite like I imagined it but I am still working on it. Right now it is alredy different I have reduced the number of greys and modified the little crane so it can rotate. If it justifies I will post it again. Thanks for looking, and commenting. the boat arrives to the island the soldier waits in the pier they unload the cargo the boat leaves the island
  23. This is a good point Mr Rupi, but UltraLux's comment solves that problem: Of course that means you don't get pieces back and you'd want to build the ship right the first time to minimize knocking the paint off. sorry...I didn't paid attention to that. If that's the case painting will have no problem at all.
  24. I'm no expert either but spray paint is the best choice, it is easy to find in several stores (is the same paint used for metal). You can chose between glossy and matte paint, usually there are both types. It shouldn't be difficult. First you make a mask with tape of the parts you don't want to paint and then just spray on... two coats will be enough. I only see one problem, if you paint the top part of the hull (the studs), the paint will come off easy with the friction of connecting and disconnecting the pieces.
  25. Those are good ideas...(except the part of giving you my original sails |-/ ) I would never remember of using the scanner as light table... :-) Felt is that kind of thick fabric right? The transfer method is very good and will give you many possibilities as you can print and transfer any image you like. But if I'm not mistaked, those transfer sheets for use with the iron are only indicated for cotton (sinthetyc fibers will melt).
