Ships, ships, ships! I have plenty of ships, would much rather have a fort or a fortified town, with soldiers and civilians
-
Some nice figs, great to see the pig is there as well
-
If that turns out to be right, I am worried the B-bay did not sell as much as I thought and in turn lower our chances to get a follow up set or even a normal pirate wave
-
If the kids did not buy/get as gifts 8 out of 10 HP sets we would most likely not be sitting here having this conversation
-
I made some assumptions in what I wrote because I do not remember the details like the year it happened, but it is a fact that the HP line sold very poorly one of the first years (I do not remember the source, but it was from an interview with a Lego employee talking about the time Lego almost went bankrupt). Some more assumptions: It could have been the second wave as well, if they expected it to sell a lot in 2003 and the sales dried up as the movie hype from 2002 settled down, then instead of a full wave only released 2 sets that year. For 2004 they had already designed the sets before they where aware of the bad sales and most likely had a contract with the license holder so no other choice then to release a full wave. After that they did not take any chances with the license for a few years This darkness business is just and excuse in my mind to why they did not give us DH sets this year Back in the day they made as you say the: and in 2011 made 4865 The Forbidden Forest set where basically Harry is killed

Yes it was brought back do to popular demand and as long as it sells they will keep it around That has nothing to do with it, but you are touching on the issue. After the first 1 or 2 waves sold like crazy, then I assume it happened in 2003 the sale hit rock bottom since it was no film that year. Lego were not in a good spot at the time and lost a lot of money they had been counting on. I believe that is when they learned that they can not do licensed sets without the backing of a film. So they lost a lot of confidence in the license for several years and gave us fewer and fewer sets until the last movies when the hype was so crazy that they had the confidence to give us a last couple of waves. My guess is that SW had a old and huge fanbase they were not affected the same way, HP on the other hand had a very fresh and young fanbase at the time, so when it was no movie hype for over a year they moved on to other toys. The HP fanbase have grown every year for almost 25 years now and I assume more similar to the SW fanbase just with more females probably, so today they can release sets without the backing of films (FB do not count since it is several years between them and almost no sets are made from them unfortunately)

Not very likely, but they were rather "generous" with the animals in the City wildlife wave this year. However unless the deer are the main focus on the set like a sled or similar I do not think it will happen. Maybe if they include a deer in every set from now on as a compromise that could be a way to do it

They managed to double the number if sets sold to AFOLs so I think Lego is laughing all the way to the bank (gringotts maybe ) of that joke

What colour would that be; yellow?!

Yes Now I have seen the YouTube "interview". There was a interview, but he lost it so there is really just his interpretation of if made from a few notes. I do not think the designers said that they made the DA for future expansions, but they are not planning to make any. They never talk directly of future sets, so it would be more than strange if they suddenly start mentation things we are not getting However I am not saying we are getting a Gringotts next year, just that this video are not confirming that we are not getting one. I understand that the HP team like to surprise us and give us new things and instead of a new D2C DA set this year they are giving us something completely new and I am glad that HP are not turning into SW. What I really would like to see is a DA set for 100$ of one new shop in the normal wave that is a add on to the DA D2C, then people get something to add to the street and even if we do not get the bank for many years it do not matter to me as long as we get new shop in the street every year. Just like the modulars some people wanted a police-station, it did not turn up before this year, but that do not matter since we get a fantastic new set every year in the line and it was only a matter of time before we got a police-station as well. Since we did not get any DA set other than the figure pack this year, people that was sure we would get Gringotts sooner or later are getting nervous we are not getting anything more from DA now. However I hope that they see the demand for future DA sets and that the DA are selling well even with the limited release so they have a set coming next year so we can all relax and expand the street

I have little interest in the golden figs, but that was a nice detail, now I know where to put them

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
Roebuck replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
I have tried to buy the pig of the phone a couple of times with no luck It is some time ago so you might give it a try, but I believe HP used the "design-points" to recolor it and bring it back so it is marked as licensed even if it was in B-bay first -
Lego designers have one day (I do not remember how often) where they can make what ever they want and I believe it is here that they make a lot of these concept arts, that sometimes end up as sets. I do not think the HP designers can make whatever they want on a regular basis. My guess is that next year we will see more sets from this year Hogwarts style, those who do not like them will at least gets some figs and animals out of it. Then there is probably more stand alone sets like Hogsmeade this year e.g. the second task, shrieking shack etc that collectors of only the 2018-2020 set can use as they are. In addition to other sets like this D2C, maxifigs etc that are easy pass for that kind of collector So probably something for every one and the theme will stay evergreen, but it depends on what kind of collector you are how many sets are for you every year
-
I think that is exactly what we will not get, and probably why we did not get a DA set this year. The HP theme designers like to experiment and give us something different every year the opposite of e.g. SW I guess they will find out when they see the sales numbers, that's what matters not what we think here I think the designers get a lot more free reins than in other themes, if one comes up with a great idea they will make it into a set I agree with this, we may not get only 2018-2020 in the coming years, but we will get a lot of great sets that and probably some every year in that style, is it better that we got DA this year and they stopped the theme I am pretty sure this set will make a lot of new AFOLs I think they do this to make something new and avoid a lot of re-releases as long as they can I have not seen that interview do to Wi-Fi trouble for 2 weeks, do you have a link? However in general Lego designers do not talk about future sets so I find it hard to belive he said we are not getting that. As long as the theme keeps on going we will see more sets from DA and DH, they scale could be different than the DA we have, but it is only a matter of time.. Exactly That what a nice way to explain it, it is a piece of Lego art in my mind Sound really unlikely since they are on the box

I remember I thought it was a stupid and highly unlikely rumour, turns out you where right after all I t was the flying one so it happened She looks fantastic! Fawkes will not look OK with this set is more right to say I think Minifigwise it is a easy pass for me, however the set look amazing especially the owl, but everything else also except maybe the point of the wand is excellent I told you it would be great no matter what it was, and even if you do not like the set you can not say with a strait face that it is a bad looking set
-
I bit the bullet this morning and ordered DA to get the sailboat GWP
-
I have said for a long time that even if the sets this year was not what people expected or wanted they are not bad. I am sure the same apply to the D2C, it may not be a DA expansion set, but it will be a great looking set whatever it is The HP designers do a fantastic job and even if we did not get DH and DA sets this year we got something original that was well made (how often can the SW fans say the same ) Maybe it is just me, but have we not had very few leaks in general lately and a D2C is a lot easier to keep a secret than a normal set. Maybe we will not see it before they reveal it this time (a leak 24 hours or less before do not count in my mind )

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
Roebuck replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Me too, but I am happy we got the croc, was not expecting anything I had any use for from that series -
That would money wise probably be the best solution, but I want that sailboat and with a 200$ buy in it is not going to be cheap on BL later. If I am super lucky (not likely) the DA will have double VIP points as one of two next month To shock you even more, the only HP set from 2021 I got is the DA people pack Last year I waited until black Friday before I got the wave, when it comes to waiting for Lego sets to go on sale I am rather patient yes I most pay 25% in tax to import them, so then they must be really cheap unless I am traveling abroad and not much chance of that in the near future
-
A nice surprise! The eyes are not perfect for a croc, but will work fine. Will probably cost a pretty penny before it surfaces somewhere else

I asked Lego and got confirmed that DA will not come for sale in other shops except directly from them at least in Norway, so then I can just wait for a decent GWP and bite the bullet
-
Nice, not bad for such a small set However the gull stayed behind on the island it seems so it do not get top marks because of that I wonder what to buy to get it, I have no shortage of sets on the list, but most sets are cheaper in other stores so I lose money to buy it directly from Lego. This is probably going to be a expensive GWP

My guess is that the dog breed depends on the theme it comes in. I am sure we sooner or later will see a new Fang (a boarhound, a Great Dane or most likely a Neapolitan Mastiff) and/or padfoot (black German Shepherd or Scottish Deerhound) in HP, if that is next year we will see. A new City or CMF dog could be everything, but I hope for a sheepdog, not that I have any interest in the breed other than it would most likely come with a farm theme in City or at the very least a sheep as a CMF fig. If it is not that my guess is a popular breed that is very easy to recognize

Lego City 2021 Rumours, information and discussion
Roebuck replied to Powered by Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
Could also be that City had used up its rather generous budget on animals already and could not afford it anyway or the part was not made in time.
