captain jari, as for the rocks, I would recommend you to just order lots of different slope pieces (in light bluish gray and/or in dark bluish gray) on BrickLink. In terms of the base you like, I assume the details on the surfaces of the wall and the floor impress you. Such a detail is called Greeble. So I'd advise you to buy sets with a lot of greebles (e.g. 7658 Y-Wing Starfighter or 10175 UCS Darth Vader's TIE Advanced) to get started with. With the starfighter, it's easy: Hey, you want to build starfighters! So just buy starfighter sets (e.g. from Star Wars or Space). Hope this helps. Greetings, funkybrick

Wow, I really didn't expect such a long answer. In terms of the White Mandalorian you mentioned, it's an entirely different matter. This special Mandalorian fellow is highly sough-after because of his 'value in the real world', whereas with the gems in the system it's all about their 'value in the Lego world' (i.e. how to properly use them in play). The thing is, the latter's value is free for anyone to change (e.g. "I like rubies the most, so they are worth the most in my Lego world"), yet you can't change the high value of the former (e.g. "I don't like the look of the Mandalorian that much, so I'll buy him for 50% of its current price" is not possible). This is what makes the Mandalorian so popular: it's rarety and worth. If it appeared in 10 sets and the average BL price was 5$ people would scream: "Oh no, that megablocking dull fig again." rather than "YAY YAY YAY I've got a White Mandalorian!" What I mean is, you HAVE to overcome a barrier when looking to buy a White Mandalorian (price). However, if you want some Lego diamonds because they were declared 'highly valuable in the Lego world' in a Lego forum, there is no such barrier and a 5$ BL purchase will make you 'rich'. The Mandalorian is naturally popular, whereas the most valuable gem is 'made popular' by assigning him a 'great worth in the Lego world'. Of course, both are just molded plastic, but it's just not the same. Oh, and I (and presumably all other forum members) am NOT offended by this topic, just as I didn't mean to insult or offend anyone with my reply. It's just not my field of interest. Maybe there are some you will call this 'the greatest topic they have had for a long time', but I don't belong to this group. And yeah, it's my solemn opinion that your personal play should not be influenced the opinions of others.

Yeah, I have to say you are right, it's a very special feeling... I'm glad I took pictures of the still sealed polybags spread all over my desk and so on just to keep the great memories :) From what I caught sight of at the first glance, your set seems to be in very good condition nonetheless!

I don't quite see the point of this topic. Why would we need to establish an absolute rating for some Lego parts' 'value in the Lego world'? Come on, guys, it's Lego... creativity! Think of a rating system yourself and change it whenever you feel like! Heck, there are no rules! What could you gain from making others use the same rating system as you except for showing off with something *err* actually un-show-off-able? Would you really enjoy reading "'HA even though you have more of those really beautiful rubies, I'm richer than you because I've got tons of that ugly yellow ones and they are worth much more according to the ranking, haha!' - 'Damn, I suck, I should clearly buy more sets with yellow gems in it.'"? I would understand the topic better if we were asked to explain how we have always handled it and to exchange some Lego-ish experience or whatever. Yet the topic starter doesn't want us to tell him our systems just for giggles, he wants us to tell him how to frame his system...

That's the sort of MOC I really, really, really, really, really (enough, huh?...meh, one more), really love! Great job! Keep on doing such great projects! ;) I think you have my vote in terms of the contest. Good luck!

Hey ACPin, extremely cool MOC! However, I can't help but think that the would maybe be better in dark bluish gray or something? Anyway,

Hi, I really like your MOC and especially with the nice background it's awesome! However, I would put Darth Vader a tad forwards, so that he looks more like 'longing' for Luke. He should lean over the 'railing' with most parts of his body. I don't think that you have to change the Luke face because you probably wanted the scene to be a bit of a parody of the actual movie scene, so it's fine with me. Anyway, great MOC!

Extra parts of 7676 Republic Attack Gunship
funkybrick replied to funkybrick's topic in LEGO Star Wars
You don't need to rebuild the whole gunship!!! You just put off the top section and then it's easy - insert it where it belongs... at least that's how I added my 'forgotten' part. I did it in 3 minutes. Nothing to worry about, mate! ;) -
D2C Designers requesting feedback for 2012 models

(1) No (2) Individual (3) Mayan/Incan/Aztec Temple, Greek Temple (e.g. Akropolis), Roman Colosseum, The Red Square in Russia, Wat Phra Kaeo in Bangkok in full GOLD, The White House (4) I would really, really like to see a full chrome (Star Wars) Naboo Royal Starship (as seen in LEGO Star Wars: The Game) and the (Star Wars) Jedi Temple would also be tremendously cool! (5) 1. There should be some (or more) bases or landscapes available in Star Wars sets (especially The Clone Wars) or at least something where troops can get cover behind, not always just some sort of vehicle. 2. I would really like to see a truly historical castle themes (without ANY mages whatsoever) with templars and saracens. -

I would really like to read your review, but unfortunately the pics don't show up for me :/

That thought already came to my mind but... why decorate a horse with a unicorn headgear? I have never seen such critters in real life But thanks for your advice, Landsmann! I really think this is a wonderful set! Maybe I'm being a bit picky about the unicorn thing but I really think a plain normal horse headgear would be better... mmh, as I'm writing this, I already like it much better than before! It'll probably grow on me You know what, if I get this set, I'll most likely put the unicorn-thingie on! :D funkybrick

Thanks for the review and the nice comparison pics to other mandos! Man, you Swedish guys got great lego stores... det är orättvist!

That's one of the greatest MOCs I have ever seen! Really great work there, KimT! I must be awesome to have your own personal creation displayed at Lego World! funkybrick

I really, really like this set! Great review, by the way! :) BUT I really dislike the unicornish head 'armor' piece, it just does not fit into the set! I mean this is actually a rather historical castle... but the unicorn ruins it all! Why does Lego make a historical castle and then puts a unicorn in it? I mean, a unicorn really doesn't belong there! I mean, there were castle themes with a major fantasy aspect (e.g. Fantasy Era), there should Lego put a unicorn! But you know, why create an all-historic feel without any magicians or something and then make the king's horse a unicorn as the ONLY truly fantasy-like piece in the set? Probably it's just me, but I really find that head barding to be disturbing...

No, of course it's not! But I would strongly recommend not only buying sets of the new line, the real piratic jewels are the classic pirate sets! Especially the old redcoat sets or the classic ships (Skull's Eye Schooner, Black Seas Barracuda) are *ahem* unmatched. Go, Imperial Trading Post, go! What I'm trying to say is: Get into pirates, you landlubbarrr! It's never to late, arrr! And there are really many, I repeat: many old pirate sets for you to dig up, so you won't get tired that fast :)

Extra parts of 7676 Republic Attack Gunship
funkybrick replied to funkybrick's topic in LEGO Star Wars
It turned out that I forgot to add the 2x4. So no rather big extra part there! And Zzz, it's funny, I put the lime cheese slopes on the front straight after the build. But I took 'em off again -
Hi, I've just assembled the RGS and it's incredible! I've got a question concerning the "extra" or "spare" or "left-over" parts, though. I have got one 2x4 light bluish grey plate left over after building. Is this an extra part? It's strange because it's rather big to be one... Also, I've got (amongst others) 2 brown and 2 lime cheese slopes left over. They are definitely extra parts, aren't they? Thanks, funkybrick

Hi, these are my first custom minifigs. I made them by using decals of the decal indexes here on eurobricks. I simply/crudely glued the torso decals on the minifig with a glue stick. Unfortunately, I couldn't find this or that for the pilot-like guy, but oh well... Thought I'd share. So what are your thoughts about them? Maybe I'm not the best customer after all, I know! funkybrick

Me would also like Pirates to be continued in 2010! funkybrick

Thanks for the explanation! Yeah, you are definitely a nerd! No you're not, just kiddin' you... Hey, have you already thought of making extra pocket money as an agoncy aunt? "Dear Dr CallMePie, I have watched 'The Clone Wars' 23 times the previous week. Am I abnormal? Andrew, 15" Think about it!
