It's remarkable how good a set can look when it's not posed as if all the bones in its body are broken :P Anyway, storm beast's function looks very cool, and almost looks like he's being controlled by strings, that's appropriately creepy. Not sure that quake's is very well executed, and I'm not even sure what Lava's is. Do you just push the gears, and the weapons move with them? 'Cos if so, that's not a function. You could get exactly the same result by just pushing the weapon itself. Box art looks cool,as eve, nice touch with the background art.

Is I just me, or do they still kinda sound like they're all voiced by the one guy. I don't think they actually are, but the three we've heard so far sound very similar (except they sound like obnoxious teenagers instead of an old English guy, which I do not consider an upgrade). The whole thing sort of feels like someone's youtube video. Similar voices with an overdone modulation on the voices. Dialogue like "the darkness is coming! you cannot stop it!" The art style is still fantastic, and Gali will probably actually be a woman this time, so that's good. I just hope they keep part-Australian part-Londoner Pohatu, since Tahu and lLewa sound nothing like their 2015 selves.

Hmm, it kinda looks like the MoCtrl de-evolved Umarak into some kind of monster. interesting... The beasts look like they introduce a nice new crystal piece, but I'm not a fan of the lower leg construction (though lava beast has mata red glatorian necks) And Ekimu.... well, I guess now we know where Tahu stole all his extra gold from. Colour blocking is definitely an issue, may be improved by printing. I also like that he's toa-sized now.

Oho, I really like Umarak's description. Not only did it give a translation of his name, but it really makes him feel like a force of nature. Plus, the fact that he, the creatures, and the mask of time are all ancient, hints at a deeper history for Okoto before the great cataclysm, which is very welcome, as I thought the initial Makuta vs Ekimu legend seemed a bit lacklustre.

Haha, my first thought when I saw the moc was Saber. really nicely done. The armour fits together really neatly, and it looks like it could be an actual, non leaking life form.

Umm... does this not look incredibly fake to anyone else? It still uses the MoCr banner instead of the MoCo, the atual MoCr on the front looks like a photo of the physical piece, and the bag uses a weird cgi render of Tahu with the cloth cut and pasted over the top....

These new pics don't really show much that the least ones didn't, besides a little of the inner workings of the torsos, but I still love how these look. Much better than 2015's IMO. I actually really like all the technic, (with the exception of Tahu's swords), but then I always suspected I would. The 2015 line was great, but could never hake the feeling that they looked like HF characters with masks slapped on them. Slightly disappointed that Kopaka's shoulders appear to be silver rather than white, but it still looks OK on him. Just wish he didn't have that gold on his legs :/

I.... didn't even realise that was mata nui... All I thought was "wow, they've really improved Okoto" xD Tahu's combined form looks sweet. His mask looks a fair bit different from the prelims, but I think it looks better like this. And yeah, the new torso piece is beautiful.

Tahu mata's iconic lava surfing has to be up there (impossible limb bending not withstanding), and I always liked the glatorian ones too. not sure why, probably the nice elemental backgrounds.

If you want to avoid the nuvaboob, i'm always a fan of using a piece of Inika shoulder armour for female torso armour. it give a kinda feminine shape, but isn't too over the top. if you have one of those in black, what could work. (it's a shame you don't have one in gold really, but I can understand why you skipped Tarix). alternatively, the gold Bionicle stars armour might work, if you built around it sufficiently. I like your idea of psionics toa being physically underdeveloped, as it's an idea I've seen repeated across various Bionicle fan works. I love it when each element has its own physique, so IMO you should try to hold on to the short, slim nature of the moc. The mask of fire would not be my personal choice for any female moc. It looks too big and square jawed IMO, but then I'm not much of a fan of it's design in general. Something like Pohatu's looks a bit more gender neutral. That's my 2 widgets (Bionicle pun, haha) for now, hope the moc goes well!

Nah, I like it too. btw, does anyone have any idea what Melum is supposed to be? Terak's clearly a mole, but melum? an.... Ice mole? I assumed he'd be a wolf or a penguin or something, but he's just white terak.

I guess I just don't have the same eye for textures that most people dp :/. I hear people all the time complain about the texture of kalmah's armour, but I have used, (and seen it used), on tonnes of mocs, and though it looked gorgeous on all of them. the pattern never bothered me. Equally, Brutaka is possibly my favourite G1 set of all time. xD Though I fully accept that now that ccbs has taken the "smooth" aesthetic to the extreme, the differences are a lot more visible.

You mean the gold one? It doesn't look like it's damaged at all IMO. It's not quite accurate to the animation (which is a shame, since Ekimu's was pretty much spot-on), but it still looks like a whole mask. I just sort of wish they hadn't shoved that "beard" spike on it. I love the animation's one, heck, it's my profile pic, but I'm kinda meh about the physical one. I'm thinking Umarak's upgrade may be a gold armoured from where he actually wears that mask.

Your opinion was basically "I don't like the sets, therefore they must have sold badly, and these ones will too. that's not pessimism, what's ego. legitimately not sure if you're trolling, or just lead a really sad life The star Wars sets are a licensed theme. That alone will draw people in, but it also costs lego money on the license. It's not remotely valid to compare them, because any number of sales will result from "my grandson likes star wars... oh! look, lego's done darth vader, I'll get him that."

Hmm... if the creatures ALL end up going on the back of the various toa, that would explain why they had to move the gear.

I'm not an old enough fan to recognise the Nuva symbols, but a quick google image search showed that you are completely right! They actually all have a little silver cube in the centre of their armour printing with their bloody nuva symbol! Could this be how Ekimu upgrades them? Shoving the Nuva cubes in their chests? CCBS still seems very much the core of these sets, even with the new torso. Technic, however, is playing a more prominent role than in recent years, and I could not be happier!

I've only just now noticed Umarak's butt-gear. I think everyone here has been mentioning it for a few pages, but what could it be for? It doesn't look like it can move the legs from what I can see, but who knows, maybe that new torso piece allows that. It's Mutran and Vican all over again!

People on reddit just pointed out that Lewa's lower legs are entirely custom. The top is an old had piece connected into the axel od the Vorox armour, and then a glatorian neck is pegged in to the 2 pin holes, with the ball connecting to the foot.

The pics are on reddit as well in case I'm not the only person who can't figure out how the heck 4chan works. Thoughts on the others: Pohatu and his beast seem to use their "dark orange" AND another, darker brown. Not sure how I feel about that. they look weird together. especially with the trans lime green as well. Pohatu's new mask is shaped like the mask if elemental energy. The "feathery piece" supposedly behind their masks was actually just the top of their masks fading to silver or gold. Lewa looks beautiful all round, and his creature is pretty cool, and uses an ancient system piece for the wings. Gali's partner is some sort of fish. Fitting. I love the little trap spiders. They have tails made out of Hewkii inika's chains! Overall, super stoked for next year now, these looks super fun. EDIT: and before I'm even done typing, more leaks Umarak is still the weakest for me. His mask looks like it doesn't fit his head. I like that he uses the trap spider piece for shoulderpads though. Looks like the stuff on his body is dark red, but his antlers are brown? Colour scheme? What colour scheme? I am warming to his legs a bit though.... Onua definitely has a custom torso. I little bit gappy, but cool none the less. LOVE his new mask, and this is from someone who was really lukewarm about his last one. His legs aren't properly attached to his torso balls. I smell CGI trickery... Tahu looks very angry. This is good. I like his new look, but the gold is a bit too everywhere, and I'm not sure why he has blue printing. He uses the new G1 esque shell in gold on his upper legs. Reminds me of takadox's armour.

That new armour shell on Kopaka's lower legs looks as though it attaches using a technic piece at the back, and might not even use the balljoint at all. Wow. they're really going retro with this o_0. Kopaka also has Vorox amour in white I believe. very nice. The new torso armour looks like something out of Michael Bay transformers and, while it's a bit busy, I still really like it. Kopaka wearing melum's head as a hat is odd, but it somehow works. Also, all the creatures share the same head, like the protectors this year. Not too bothered about this, but it does look a wee bit out of place on some of them. So the Kopaka/ Melum combiner has custom upper arms? Neat, if a bit odd looking. Also, that has GOT to be the mask of control. I know it's not identical, but why would the produce a mask that looks SO similar, and have it be something else?
