  1. I met those two, while running around in LEGO Star Wars II a few years ago. I was so surprised I took a screenshot straight away and then left them lying on my hard drive. Never thought I'd get a use for them ^^ I feel humbled by that Nnenn stickers. those guys are really great.
  2. (Slightly off topic : Avatar's Io9 preview... Wow it's even been updated with more ^^) I didn't realise Ben10 was from CN (not a big fan) I thought it was from Nickelodeon because most of the other cartoon license we had from LEGO seemed to be from them (although I can only think of Spongebob and the previous avatar...) So I guess it might be on a theme by theme basis, then...
  3. Last night I saw that first scene from the new Avatar show coming out later this year and it got me thinking. Since they're releasing new spongebob sets this year, I assume they still have some sort of agreement with Nickelodeon. Does it include everything from them or only some specific licenses like Ben10 and Spongebob? More to the point : might we see a return of Avatar? And then, what really got me excited is that they are planning a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for this year ^^ What do you think would be the chances of seeing those in LEGO form? Do we know anything about that? (I search for a similar topic but nothing turned up. If I'm wrong, please delete/merge as needed)
  4. It's been a while since I came here... Here are my latest : 30056 - Star Destroyer nothing missing. LXF file 30057 - Anankin's Pod Racer nothing missing LXF file 9492 - TIE Fighter model is complete except for the prints on the minifigs and pieces. I couldn't find the helmet of the death star trooper and I also replaced the head of the droid. LXF file 9495 - Gold Leader's Y-Wing Starfighter I replaced the 1x2/2x4 angle piece by a 1x2/2x2 angle and the head of the droid. There were some wierd things happening with the engines as well. I had to invert the connector peg with knob in order to have enough space to insert the droid hand clip thingy to attach the long beams to the engine... unfortunately I don't have the real model so I con't test how it would be in real life. And I couldn't get the two brown stick because of those white beams either... Also, wierdly enough, I couldn't find the rebel pilot helmet. It's probably there somewhere, considering they have all those starwars headgear but I didn't see it anywhere. LXF file
  5. Wow, untill I saw your MOD, i never realised how lacking that section of the model was. I'm definitely keeping those pics for reference when I come back to mine (right now it's sitting in my bedroom halfway across the world and I don't know yet when I'll see it again ) The first thing I MODed on mine was the shield generator dome on the bottom. (I see you haven't added one, so I decided I would point you somewhere ^^) Great work on the greeble. It looks fantastic.
  6. I just finished building the UCS SuperStar Destroyer. I was really lucky to find it for CAD300 in Montréal so I jumped right on that deal. I have to say I really like it. It's obviously nowhere near the awesomeness of the UCS ISD but that's only because that one is just too far out of reach. Although I have to admit I don't think I would have ever bought it for the full price. One thing I don't quite understand, though, is why people keep complaining about the flat bottom. From what pictures I found of the model from the movie, I find it actually ok. It's got the big hangar bay with a change of color and some indentation to give it an illusion of detail and depth and the engines look fantastic. I admit, it could have done with a little more greeble to break the surface but it doesn't need much considering the scale of the thing. And when you think about it, the bottom of the ISD was lacking quite a bit as well, the hangar bay being just a hole in the hull that let you see the inside frame and there wasn't even the shield generator dome at all. So all il all, I definietely don't see that as a deal breaker (to me, that would be the original price). It's still a really good UCS model. Now I just need to find where to display that beast...
  7. Hehey!! What a nice surprise. I got my face on the calendar ^^ And I thought this day couldn't get any better :) Thanks a lot Now if anyone would prefer prize A instead of his, I'm fine with any of them, really.
  8. Let's go for a late nature morte entry... Unfortunately I left my bricks back home halfway across the world :( Thanks a lot for this, CopMike. Great start for the best season of the year ^^
  9. Cool, thanks for the new pics. I like the way each new version of the X-wing looks sleeker than the previous. The way I see it, 6212 would be like the one used in the OT and the new one would fit as the new XJ3 used during the New Jedi Order Serie I'm definitely getting that one. The Y-Wing on the other hand gives me mixed feelings. I like the way they scaled down the greebles of the UCS on this much smaller version but the proportions of the result looks really off to me...the head looks too big compared to the rest of the ship... The TIE Fighter is another definite improvement. It just needs to have its cockpit window replaced by the old one, though... on a side note, when I was looking at the first page, I noticed that Anakin's Jedi Interceptor is listed as a CW subtheme. Shouldn't it be an Episode 3 or PT set? Although the mistake could be from TLC, the same way they classed the midi Millenium Falcon in the CW Subtheme. In all honesty, I don't really care, I just thought I'd point it out in case someone does
  10. Ah, I didn't know about that topic... I would have checked it there... I don't know what the politic is for pinned topics, but it would be nice to have those about reporting bugs and such stuck on top of the first page... As the category one is already almost relegated on the second page...
  11. It's probably already been mentionned before, but just in case : While building the VW Camper Van, I noticed that the wall element 1x2x1 is actually not in the category illustrated by it. Instead it is in the category with the door.
  12. Wow, great job on that one I never thought anyone vould be crazy enough to tackle on that one. considering the pain I had when I made mine...
  13. Master of colours indeed I fixed the whole lot. Thanks for pointing them out... Though I have to ask how you actually found some of them (especially when I swapped two pieces that seem to be clones to me, like the 1x1 cone).
  14. Lets follow on the coming New Star Wars sets spree : 7961 - Sith Infiltrator Nothing is missing. Well, except for the decals and stickers, obviously... EDIT: Cross that, actually : I couldn't find Panaka's cap nor Darth Maul's horns... LXF file
  15. I for one quite like that calendar more for the models than the figs. I find most of the micros pretty cool. The only ones that should have had a bit more thought to them are the TIE, the Falcon and the Y-Wing but the rest is really nice... Although I have no idea what that brown thingy is supposed to be, the one on the left of the spider droid... If the price is ok, I'll sure try to grab one...
  16. It's already been done but still... 21100 - Shinkai 6500 Submarine no modifications, everything was there so I didn't have to work around anything. Well, apart from the stickers, obviously... LXF file
  17. I'll have to agree with you there... while the legs are definitely better done, the eyes don't make any sense at all. It seems that with every new rendition of it, it goes one step backward...
  18. I use the same design than the pylon that came with the first TIE Fighter. But I admit, I display it next to a wall because otherwise it tends to fall backward...
  19. I have displayed all of my ships in flight mode with a custom stand. I did a quick LDD file : The basic design is always the same, only the small greeble on the front changes to have a little variations. LXF file Unfortunately I had to leave all my LEGO behind and I won't come home for quite a while so I can't take a picture. Because I made a special one for my Tantive IV which I am rather proud of. It's a tripod which I tried to rebuild from memory in LDD. It looks something like this except that the ball connectors are somehow attached to the main bar to steady it. then I had to remove one of the inverted slopes on the bottom of the ship (the one right next to the round part with the small wheels) and slide the whole thing into place on top of the stand. It might look really flimsy like that, but in fact its right on the gravitational center of the model, so it works great. LXF file
  20. It's been a while since I posted anything, so here's a small one... 30053 - Mini Venator Class Attack Cruiser no change, which would have been sad for such a small set LXF File
  21. I have to agree with you on that one, I was really looking forward to see what they'd learnt from designing the UCS one and we end up getting nothing new . its general shape is exactly the same as 4505. Only a few improvements have been made, like the cover-ups of the holes on the sides and the addition of a few greebles on the mandibles, but apart from that, there's nothing much to get me to replace my 4505 with that one... On the onther hand, that Sith Infiltrator and those podracers look fantastic compared to the old ones. Especially the SI... The Clone Wars, I couldn't care less, so I won't comment and as for the Geonosian Starfighter, I'll wait for better pics. But so far, it seems bulkier than the previous one and loses that sleek factor of the original. Actually, he's always been Wald in Episode 1. Greedo was supposed to appear later in a deleted scene where Anakin punches him in the face after the race but GL thought it would confuse the audience (his basic excuse for anything good he decides to scrap )
  22. Apparently, there's a new episode of the fantastic parody by Robot Chicken coming on december 19. And according to the third trailer here, there's gonna be a segment with LEGO minifigs Seeing how I love the two previous one, I can't wait for this one. What do you think?
  23. The only ones I can think of are the ones that made it back in the new serie afterward (and about the only TCW sets I bought) : the RGS and the V19 Torrent.
  24. I'm definitely looking forward to how they'll improve the design now it's had the UCS treatment. I mean, every time they made a UCS, afterward we got a much improved minifig version of the set. just look at the UCS AT ST and it's little brother from the Endor set, or the second Y-Wing. Even the second X-Wing, actually, though the UCS came at the same time as the first minifig version...
  25. Finally finished Hamilton's "Night's Dawn" trilogy... I really liked the human society he's developed for his universe, but there were way too many deus (dei?) ex machina to move his story along. His final solution was far too easy to my taste... Now I'm starting "Pages of Pain" by Troy Denning. It's set in the Planescape Torment universe, which I don't know anything about (except for the videogame but I haven't played it). I admit, I only bought it for the cover : lovely edition, leather bound and all. Beside, Troy Denning's Star by Star is my second favourite New Jedi Order book, so I suppose it can't be too bad...
