While doing the 10200 custom cars set, I noticed that a technic axle cannot be rotated 360°. It goes from 0° to 9° then get stuck and there's no way to move it between 9° and 28°. From 28° to 62°, no problem, then stuck again between 62° and 81°, turns again ok between 81° and 99°, stuck between 99° and 118°, turns ok again between 118° and 152°, not between 152° and 171°, ok between 171° and 180° and the same goes with the minus values (from 0° to -9°, then from -28° to -62° etc...) technic pins don't have that problem, though. I did the test with just an axle in a 1x2 technic brick with one hole. I hope the way I wrote it is clear enough...

Well, been a while since I posted something here... So, here's one that's already been made a few times, but still... 10215 - UCS Obi Wan's Starfighter same problems as the others, there are a few parts that couldn't be placed due to collisions and the stickers are missing... LXF File And this one I was surprised not to find it in the index yet : 10200 - Custom Cars Errors: None whatsoever ! Even the stickers were there (yes, those small one on the side of the 1x2 bricks, too ) so there you go... LXF File

Interview with LDD Development Mgr
yellost replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Nic einterview. I always find it interesting to have a look behint the scene of things and how they're developed. Thanks I think it's got something to do with the BrickKit tool some designers use. as he said, when one of them requests a specific part, it's done and included in BrickKit and then added to the LU mode in LDD... Although there are a few old licensed parts too, like the HP troll, which wouldn't quite fit that explanation... -
LDD 4 is released!
yellost replied to Daedalus304's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
finally!! and what a imrovement they've done. I'm lovin' it!. And all those new parts (though quite a few weird things too... like there's the body of the dragon from Harry Potter 4 and the head but they can't be assembled ) But most of all, NUMERICAL ANGLE INPUT in the hinge system !!!!! the flex tool looks fun too, but I can foresee quite a few computer crashes with it... Oh and for those who don't seem to have found it, the close all categories button is still there, it's just at the bottom of it all, now. and the final great function is the "check purchasable bricks" in the LU mode, as well as the convert unpurchasable bricks. so sweet... I'm officially in LEGO Heaven -
oh, ok but they're still official sets, I just put them in a single file to make them look good...

Since I did the other winter set, I thought I'd do this one too... 10199 - Winter Toy Shop The roof isn't quite as good looking as it should. Somehow, I couldn't put the plates straight on the beams so I heightened them a bit... Due to a collision boundary problem, I couldn't place the flame parts in the hearth. the lamp post doesn't have the right bubble piece and finally, there's no rope piece to make the fairy lights of the christmas tree. Oh, I also had to create a replacement part for the white balcony thingy on the second floor LXF File little bonus, a little christmas town center and its LXF

Jeez! And to say I thought I had a hard time with the hinge system... Well, I'll stick with the small selection of official bricks from a DBM file imported into a LU one and I'll worry about the old grey colours and such much much much (much?) later Anyway : 10216 - Winter Village Bakery Hopefully I got it right this time... The stickers are obviously wrong. I only had a collision problem between the left window frame and the croissant (at least I think it is) and I couldn't put the red legs in the snow on the ice pond. It's probably already been mentioned but it's the first time I tried... The baker's platter isn't the correct part but LDD refuses to connect a plate in a minifig's hand, so I changed it a little. And finally I couldn't find the "ninja rope" for the lampioons so I creatively replaced it. LXF file

Well, actually, I have absolutely no idea how I'm supposed to use it for that... I mean, it is a fantastic tool I used constantly when I'm looking for a specific part, but in the colour department, all it gives is fancy numbers while in LDD, all I have is lots of colours without a hint of a name. So all I can do is go by feel I select it's the right shade of blue/brown/yellow or whatever... There's most probably a subtlety of use in there somewhere which I have missed but I really can't find it... Here's an attempt at fixing it anyway : LXF (on a side note, I didn't put the shields in their light bley because the printing they're supposed to have makes them look more orangish, so I found it better looking that way ^^)

Something I've noticed about the way the hinge tool work, is that it takes into account every single piece that is connectd to what you want to rotate... I had the crashing problem while doing the UCS Falcon (beside the fact that I sometimes had to wait a full minute just to see the parts rotate for half a degree in the wrong direction ). So what I do everytime, now, is make a copy of the pieces that connet the part which need rotating to the main model, use the hinge tool and when everything is in the correct angle, I delete the copy of the top and bottom pieces and connect the main part to the real model. I don't know if I'm explaining myself well, I'll try to illustrate it later... But that's another feature really needed in LDD 4.0 : an autosave function

Aaoouw!! You've beaten me to it... Great work. Here's my version anyway : 10214 - Tower Bridge Like ADHO15, I've had a few connections problems, so there're quite a few pieces that floats around (even though they might seem connected... A really nice model. And those micro cars are just pure genius. LXF File By the way, Superkalle, in your LDDManager, you sort the 1x1 plate modified with tooth under the 2x2 plate with wheel pins while it is actually in the Windshield section... I thought I should mention it...

I wanted to post it yesterday but Brickshelf seemed to be down, then... 10029 - Lunar Lander I couldn't find the astronauts' backpacks but all the rest is correct... Well, except for the stickers and prints, obviously... LXF File

I'm currently reading "The Naked God", final part in the Night's Dawn trilogy by Peter Hamilton. quite heavy, 1500 pages each. But a really great setting... But what I'd like to read, is something in the vein of the X-Wing serie by Michael Stackpole. with lots of dogfights (preferably in space ), but I don't know of any. Maybe you people know of some??

Good job on succeeding putting it on the landing pad. I gave up trying when I tore my last strands of hair... I got two, today... 8093 - Plo Koon's Starfighter Apart from the minifig and the few stickers in the cockpit, I can't remember having to replace anything... LXF 20018 - Mini AT-AT I didn't even know this one existed until I found the instructions on Brickset... But I do believe it looks much better than the first one... LXF Now I can't wait till they release the instructions for the Tower Bridge I want a big challenge...

even harder than categorie A... 8) Robot & Jungle Explorer Entry (Build by lisqr) -I love the way the two different world blend together, great work. 12) Diver & Surfer Entry (Build by squiz) -Awesome wave 21) Skater Boy & Traffic Cop Entry (Build by Masked Builder) the simpleness of the scene makes it really great looking. -

Some pretty tough choice, here... But after much debate, my vote goes this way : 9) Skier Entry (Build by Rufus) -for the sheer dynamic displayed 22) Vampire Entry (Build by lisqr) -for it's fantastic mood 5) Witch Entry (Build by cralegoboy) -for the nostalgia -
damn, I was so sure it looked dark red in the instructions... ah well... I didn't know about that colour chart trick, but I do use Superkalle's LDD Manager. Fantastic tool indeed. It's just that sometimes I'm too lazy, because I still need to go to peeron, find a set that has the piece I'm looking for (and wait for Peeron to load... That site is one slow animal, I tell you...) and then I still have to find the piece inside the tool palette because they're not always that obvious... I only found the flickfire piece entirely by mistake while searching for something else even though I have been through that stack many times... Anyway, I just love whining about programs that I love using In any case, I updated my LXF File in my original post with the right color and the right pieces for the pylons and flickfire...

I know it's already been done by Aanchir but I wanted to get the feel of building that set for myself. So here it is : 10213 - Shuttle Adventure As a bonus, you get everything in one file instead of 3 a little creativity went into the solar panels of the satellite, and a few pices didn't fit inside the shuttle. I also couln't find the pylon pieces used for the spotlight stands. Lastly, I'm not sure if the orangish-brown color of the main reservoir tank is the right one. LXF File

Those stained glass look really beautiful. I'm just wondering, while looking at them, if they are attached in any way. Or are the mieces just slid in places and everything would fall down if you pushed a little on one of them? but fantastic work. I love the inside shots.

and here you go : 10177 - Boeing 787 Dreamliner There are a few pieces I couldn't get to fit where they were supposed to. But otherwise, an interesting build indeed. Although the engines look a little weird... LXF File

Hop, the final UCS set I didn't build yet (the ones I didn't do in LDD, I own, so I won't be doing them ) 7181 - UCS TIE Interceptor Somehow, I couldn't get the wings to connect to the main body, nor could I get the back section to fit either... but everything is there. Ah no, I couldn't use the 8x8 grid plates, since we can't connect anything underneath like we can with the real one. Still, next to the TIE Advanced, it feels a bit lacking. It's obvious it's a first generation UCS EDIT : here is the LXF File
