  1. Nice review. Are you going to do the other ones as well? He he he, That set made me discover how truly fantastic it was to have a japanese friend. When she found them, she sent them to me here in Belgium. I have both Slave 1 and the Tie Interceptor and I love them. The mini line was a fantastic one from TLC, I love them all (well, except the AT AT). I'm just sad they stopped it. Now the only one they make are some exclusive and it's really hard to find them...
  2. I've started Red Mars, the first volume of the Mars Trilogy by Kim Stanley Robinson. I don't really know what to think of it... I'm already one third through, but still nothing happened. Sure it's impressively written at times (sometimes, it feels like the guy actually went on an expedition onsite when he starts describing the landscape and all, and it makes you feel like you're actually there) but I'm still waiting for something to happen...
  3. That was my first big star wars set. I remember it fondly. I had to smuggle it at my house, because back then my parents didn't want me to play with LEGO anymore (Luckily, they got over it, now). It's a really smart build and great looking set. IMO, the only good Technic set they had for Star Wars but a fantastic one nonetheless. Its only downfall is that it uses rubberband elastics and they tend to decompose over time... mines have all died out now and the head doesn't stay level anymore. Hopefully TLC has learned a few things since then and now the elastics are made in a far more durable material. I just wish I could find some more to replace the old ones...
  4. Well, if you're really looking for a SW rip off, there's also Stargate SG1, with anubis (small guy in a long black robe with hood covering his face...) building a giant planet killing superweapon that gets destroyed by oooh surprise, a small ace fighterpilot flying over its surface... Man, what a incredible imagination they had for that one...
  5. Congratulations to all the participants. the entries were really good. Hard to make choice, really. And even more congratulation to the winners. and a little to TheBrickster, too, to round things up keep 'm coming
  6. It's a good start, so far. Have you tried removing the original windscreen and only use the trans dark canopy? I think it might look better. And use the on the sides to close it. And maybe if you could use some white pieces to attach the canopy at the back of the car to give it a more streamline look.
  7. Well, if they manage to do some incredible dogfight sequences the way BSG did, that could be awesome. But considering what a mess they've made with The Clone Wars serie, I'm not expecting much from this one, now... Wait and see, I guess
  8. Well, I don't know about unusual, but mines are stored in old cardboard shoe boxes and plastic ice cream ones. Oh, and a few cookies tin boxes as well. I tend to get my hands on anything that might fit the bill, really. As I haven't got that much money to spend on LEGO as it is, I wouldn't want to waste it on storage facilities
  9. I have a bit of a problem with my tires, lately... Some of them seem to be sweating. That is, they're getting all greasy and sticky and I don't quite get why... First I thought I put them somewhere I shouldn't, as it wasn't the case for all of them but today I finally got my hands on the Race for the stolen treasure set (fantastic design, by the way) and the tires of the truck were all sticky as well, although not as bad as my old ones. But still, it's kind of annoying. Does anyone have the same thing? And know a solution? or even a reason why...
  10. Well, I'd say it's the whole point of Doctor Who, really. It's the only show I know of where they just put lots and lots of non sense together and make it into something fantastic like that. Even the cheezy FX make it look even better That's why there's no other show quite like that. The Middleman did have a try at it but IMO, it didn't work as well, go figure why... Maybe it's because, even with the non sense, Dr Who goes deeper into it's characters and leads you somwhere where you actually feel for them (yes, even those tin can daaleks ) Can't wait for next season.
  11. I was talking about 7017 the missiles were loaded in a technic beam the same way it's done here. And there was that springed piece from the soccer sets at the back of the crossbow to be used to fire the missile, which made the clip go down to prep the next missile in line. Needless to say, as usually with most of those lame missile thingies in LEGO sets, it didn't work that good but the idea was there... and it seems they improved the design to make it work, this time around.
  12. Thanks for the review but I don't quite understand how the wings fold up and down, though. Is there a mechanism like in the ILC or is it like the old imperial shuttle? I don't think I'll get it, though... That is one really ugly piece of color scheme... Although I admit it's not their fault when you see the original material... And the engineering looks rather good... They used the same system in one of the viking set, the giant crossbow thingy vs the red dragon. Pretty neat set, actually...
  13. 1 Lord King of Everything - Die for the King! 2 Exotrator - The Pirates of San Pedro 3 Chrispockster - The Treasure of Indigo Isle Damn hard decision, waaaay too many fantastic entries...
  14. Done it too. really interesting to know TLC is at least intrigued by what we think. thanks for the intel', Copmike Same here... I think it's the first time I tried to add everything I spend on LEGO over a year... Really scary, considering what very little income I have... Damn, I forgot about that one... We don't even have TRU at all here in Belgium...
  15. FANTASTIC!!! I've been waiting too long for a news like this. I really hope they'll do it in the same line as the first one. But what gets me a bit afraid, is the fact that it'll be a Flash game... I hope they won't stop at that...
  16. I have the same problem here... The thing is, they're trying to cram waaaaaay to much in a very small 4-year time period, so a lot of inconsistencies are bound to happen... and obviously they do... On another side, the more I see the new show, the less and less I like it and somehow, it does reflect on what set I really want to buy and which ones I really don't care about... (mainly, all the ships that have appeared before in other media like the comics and cartoon I get and those specifically from the show, I leave). The good side of it is that it makes my wallet a little happier BUT, even for the sets I don't get, I have to admit that this year has been a fantastic one design wise. The sets look great and they have some excellent building twists and techniques. It's something that started in 2007 (MTT!!!) and it just keeps getting better and better. Not only for the SW sets but for every line TLG has released lately. I can't wait to see what they'll do next year.
  17. Wow, thanks for the review. I guess Christmas came early for some... It does look much better than the older versions. Especially now that th'ey've finally decided to do it in its original colour scheme... Somehow I got the feeling that it's going to give them an excuse to re re release every Tie Fighter they've already done but in grey... Oh well, if they improve the design the same fantastic way they did for everything else this year, who am I to complain
  18. That'd be assuming there is some kind of continuity between OoT ad TP, but so far it's never been quite certain, as so afr, most of the games were standing on their own, each time reteling the same tale in a new way (with a few exceptions, of course). The only "official" sequel would be Wind Waker (as we learn in the introduction movie). And that sets a world quite different from TP... But still, it is a nice explanation. I like it. I'll stick to it for now, thanks. EDIT: actually that sequel thing reminds me of a video I watched on Gametrailers.com which kind of made sense... But when they did it, TP wasn't out yet.
  19. I did finish every games in the serie and somehow, my favourite is Link's Awakening on the Game Boy. That game felt so poetic with the story of the Dream Fish and all... And the close second is Wind Waker, for much of the same reasons as Link's Awakening. I did force my way through Twilight Princess, but it never really caught me as much. It had too many loose ends. Like who the hell is that orcish guy on a boar who keeps challenging Link? Or that dead guy who teach new sword techniques. We never know. In all the other games, every character used to have a real background or look like they have (even those couples dancing at the market in OoT seem like they have a history) but here I found they were just empty... And Ganon felt more like they threw him in for good measure than anything else, since he's absent the entire game and only appears when we need to kill him. If I remember well, we almost don't even hear his name untill then...
  20. Mmmmh, I'm in too. killing suspens ON
  21. Funny, I just watched V for Vendetta, yesterday... But I only realised what date it was until afterward... What a coincidence.. Great MOC, you captured it well. If I may, I would just suggest to close the barrels with brown round tiles...
  22. man I wish it was available in some other way... I've always loved the mini line... and this one is a really good looking one... thanks for the review
  23. This was my favourite version of the speederbike (right untill they designed the fantastic one in the new RGS). Because of the pose given to the biker (leaning forward to grab the handle), it has a really good fast and dynamic look. Which unfortunately disappeared in the later versions where the fig is standing upright...
  24. I really disliked that set. I only got it because I found it on a heavy clearance and had I known at the time, I'd have taken all of the available ones to sell them on ebay around now. They were something like 75% off, and now just the Jango Fett minifig is worth more than the entire set was full price... But I found it rather badly designed, way out of proportion comparde to its movie counterpart and full of holes. The last version of Boba Fett's Slave 1 was a really big improvement. (But granted, this one was an equally big improvement next to the first one). But it still needs a lot of modifications to look good next to Boba's last version.
  25. Just finished Salem's Lot... Pretty disappointed, again... I don't know why but every time I read a book by Stephen King I end up disappointed... Except maybe for his Dark Tower serie... I think I'll go on with that one and leave the rest... I just need to find the next ones somewhere... In the mean time, I'm re reading Dracula, by Bram Stoker... A true classic, that one.
