After reading that letter, I still can't understand what's the problem with the brown colour... Basically, the old brown was too high a quality and too expensive, or what? Well, I suppose the old brown bricks will soon become a very rare thing... or even worse, people will start hating them because they would stand out in their overwhelming collection of redish brown bricks.

Alright, I'm very sure these sets are prototypes, i.e., not what we will actually see on shelfs in stores. Look at the Royal castle... the king has just as many people to defend it as there are Dragons attacking it... which is... ridiculous. The Dragons also have only one building. Isn't that very odd? And the wizard isn't even present in their largest set? Come on! Also, look at the small set with the little catapult... that has to be one of the weirdest sets I've ever seen. Why would there be a soldier with a catapult and one of the opposing faction in one set? I've never seen that kind of a combination before.

REVIEW : 8075 Neptune Carrier
Mörs replied to daoudbazaar's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Why would they make a brick-built manta ray when there's already a one piece stingray mold? I suppose it's because this isn't a regular stingray; it's the manta ray, right? I like the shape of that carrier, though I'm not really interested in Atlantis, and especially not in those weird "fish men"... -
...Huh? Bionicle crap is getting replaced by some pretty much the same theme...? Nothing interesting here, move along...

What would make a great Adventurer sub-theme?
Mörs replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
What's wrong with that? -
Yee-haw!! (A Redneck cry of joy) I'm definitely getting this! ...AND a dog! Why not just make a one-piece, super accurate model, then? EDIT: IT'S AN IMPULSE SET!!! Yes... YES!!
-
Argh, I hate those new airplanes designs... where the cockpit is basically one piece... LOL at the cat and the tree in the fire department set! I hope there's going to be some small set with a pig in it.

So now you have minifig pistols? Since when has LEGO become so violent...? And the flame thrower dark humour... LEGO has sure changed over the past 10 years! Yes, I know there were already soldiers with shotguns and knights with swords long ago, but don't you think this is a little extreme...? I'm not saying for a moment it's a bad thing... but it definitely IS weird for me, since I haven't been thouroughly following new sets for the past several years.

Review: Atlantis 8057: Wreck Raider
Mörs replied to MayTheBricksBeWithYou's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Hey, look, that face is perfect for Solidus from MGS2! -
 What the crap is this... crap?! I don't know what's worse: LEGO losing its mind with all the new licensed themes popping up like crazy or seeing so many people get excited for some alien/mutants/whatever based on some stupid children's cartoon... OK, I understand some people may be fans of the cartoon; sorry. But is this even LEGO anymore...? Come on, it looks horrible! At least the PoP sets will be made out of normal bricks, and it will have camels!

I like how the wheels of that little catapult in the small "duel" set are made.

World Racers Summer 2010
Mörs replied to The Green Brick Giant's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
This seems very odd... a LEGO death rally? Reminds me a little of Stunt Rally. And why is there a helicopter racing with a car...? Or is it maybe a TV crew or whatever? Anyway, there might be some useful pieces there... -
Wow, that is one awesome ship! Definitely the best set from Orient Expedition in my opinion!

Alternate Names for Johnny Thunder
Mörs replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I like that! Though I'd rather have the names stay as they are... it's annoying enough how TLG mixes up all the names constantly... -
What would make a great Adventurer sub-theme?
Mörs replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Great topic! I've been thinking about this lately... I really like this idea (I actually thought of it myself like twenty minutes ago ). Imagine they could be investigating a haunted NAZI castle! That is, a castle that was occupied by the Nazis in WW2 where they conducted some secret experiments and stuff like that (apparently they did do that). Let's see: you could have ghosts, secret WW2 technology (I don't know... a flying saucer? OK, I think that's a little too far...), some treasure, and medieval guards with full armour! All of this in a cool medieval German castle! They could do it in modules, so that you have various parts of the castle in several seperate sets. Combine all of them, and... voila! You have a huge and very detailed castle with all the stuff Adventurers need (traps, treasure etc.)! Somebody mentioned an Arabic subtheme... I also think it's a good idea. There's lots of room for ideas there... for one, they could finally introduce camels with it -- though they're coming with the PoP theme now. Hmm... if Prince of Persia can be done, how come they couldn't be able to make an Adventurers Arabic/Persian subtheme? I actually find the Indiana Jones sets to be crap (except the vehicles, they're pretty decent; but the buildings are just pathetic...), so I don't expect much more from PoP... I have one more idea... South Africa. Yeah, I have no idea how could they incorporate this (what treasure could they possibly go after...? What interesting ancient man-made structures are there?), but it does sound like it has some potential... Well, it would be an opportunity to make some African animals, like lions, cheetahs or rhinos... Not to mention black people... I only remember seeing brown minifigures in Indiana Jones and in Basketball, so.... As for time travel or space... no no no no no no NO!! -
Historic Themes and Orient Expedition
Mörs replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Ooh, so they're making the Batmans and the Star Wars for money... how surprising... Am I the only one who's tired of all the licensed themes? TOO EXOTIC?! Since when is that even undesirable?! And doesn't stuff like Batman or Indiana Jones, or -- even better -- Prince of Persia totally fit under that label? TLG... snap out of it!! -
They all look like crap!

I voted for Rudo Villano because, as someone has already said: Just look at his face -- he's the perfect LEGO villain! Not to mention his self-explanatory name! Too bad I've lost the minifig somewhere... Anyway, it's pretty annoying how LEGO gets all the names mixed up constantly... This is what I got from LEGO Racers, and thus believe it's correct: - Johnny Thunder is the main protagonist - Baron von Barron is the actual name of Johnny's archnemesis, the treasure hunter with the monocle and the hook - Sam Sinister is the guy in the black suit (exclusive to the Egyptian subtheme) - The "Aztec" guy from the Jungle is Achu

Favorite Adventure Subtheme
Mörs replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
For me it's a very tough decision between the Egyptian subtheme and Dino Island... hmm... fine I vote for Egypt, simply because of the good designs and originality, and, well, come on -- it's EGYPT!! I don't own any of the large sets from it, but I really liked some of the small ones I have, like Johnny Thunder's car or the Anubis little treasure-temple thing. And you have to admit, the vehicle designs from that line were just excellent! The Sphynx set looks pretty good, too (unfortunately, I can't say the same thing about the Anubis Temple...). ...Other than that, I used to be a huge fan of the Dino Island (mostly because of the dinosaurs, though), and I own most of the sets. Amd the Dino Research Compound is one of my favourite sets ever! You might disregard the building itself as badly designed (and I disagree; it's probably more detailed than the Temple of Anubis) or of little playability, but you have to admit, it contains a LOT of very useful pieces (and minifig accessories). I would also like to point out the greatness of some of the vehicles of the subtheme, namely, the big red plane and Baron von Barron's (that's what the bad guy was called in LEGO Racers) Island Racer (yes, I know that kind of a car doesn't really suit the terrain, but I just LOVE its design!). Jungle was pretty good, too, but I have only a few small sets from that line. It definitely lacks in vehicle design, though. Orient Expedition... this line was definitely a let down for me. Looks pretty under-developed. I actually don't have any of the sets from it (partly because I was in a pseudo dark age when it came out, when I wasn't interested in buying new LEGO sets at the time), but don't regret it much, though there were some useful rare pieces there... The China subtheme stands out very clearly, though. The Scorpion Palace and the Emperor's Ship look very detailed and remind me more of the old Adventurers sets... as opposed to the Indian palace thing and the Mount Everest temple thing, which look really poorly made. I also find it kind of stupid how the elephant is larger than the triceratops (actually it's even larger than the Styracosaurus from Dinosaurs!). Plus, I hated the Yeti-type monsters (well, OK, I can understand the Yeti... but what the hell is the tiger man thing?!). I would love if TLG made a new Adventurers subtheme (or, at least, remade an old one) -- with the old characters, of course -- though I can't think of any interesting new place they could possibly visit... Hmmmm... any ideas? -
I can't believe there are so few minifigs in the two biggest sets... Not to mention no archers (at least, I can't see any). This might indicate they are prototypes and will probably change. I wonder who the Dragon Knights' leader will be, though... the green wizard, perhaps? Does anyone else feel like this new line is a remake of the year 1995 -- the war between Royal Knights and Dragon Masters? Well, both the king and the wizard are back. And the Royal castle looks very promising and original. I love the new helmet design (though my favourite helmet is the one with the moving visor; hope they bring them back, too). I guess we'll just have to wait and see... ...Wait a minute, did somebody just say they liked KK2?! ARE YOU KIDDING?! It was THE ultimate crappy "anti-classic" Castle!! I mean, the jelly bean soldiers... Power Rangers or what? Sandy: what's your favourite LEGO Castle? My favourite is definitely 6085, the Black Knights' Castle from 1988 -- it's Classic Castle at it's finest! 'Cause if you say it's King's Castle Siege, then... I don't know what to say... PS. Come to think of it -- wasn't there already a baby dragon in Harry Potter? Not sure if it's the same mold this time, though...
-
Wow, it never ceases to amaze me how there are all these "old" folks -- some of them much older than me -- who still get hooked by the new themes that TLG produces. Not that there's anything wrong with that... but I personally stopped getting "thrilled" by new lines in 2001. The new Kingdoms line will probably revive that feeling in me... Though you're probably right about how nostalgia can distort the view of old sets. As for the dragons -- it's hard to explain, but there's something about the new models that makes them kind of... un-LEGO? Maybe it's just me but they remind more of some cheap action figure rather than a LEGO toy... I think the white teeth play a part in that. They're also too big (and powerful, consequently) for LEGO Castle, in my opinion. Here's hoping for a great new Castle (I still hope the sets we've seen are prototypes)...
-
I agree. I wasn't really interested in the fantasy Castle but this looks very promising... yet still clearly worse than the classic lines. Hmm... what if what we have seen so far are prototypes? It happened with Vikings. Maybe they're still polishing the sets or designing new ones? I can't believe there could be only that few of the sets... I would like to see some kind of minifig pack (old style, in a standard box). Also, how come there aren't any archers or crossbowmen in the sets?! Very odd. As for the baby dragon in the wizard set... if there's going to be an adult one, I hope they bring back the old dragons (from Dragon Masters/Fright Knights); though it would probably be better if there where none. It makes me think, though, there probably IS going to be some other sets, since I don't think they would give them a baby dragon and no adult ones... I'm looking forward to the jester impulse, for certain...

What New Themes or Sets would you like TLG to make?
Mörs replied to CopMike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
My suggestions/ideas: THEMES: - Remake Adventurers (but PLEASE keep the same cast of characters, i.e., Johnny Thunder, Baron von Barron, Dr. Kilroy etc.) or make a new sub-theme for them... can't think of anything at the moment, though there HAS to be some exotic place on Earth that the Adventurers haven't "raided" yet... hmm... how about something in (South) Africa -- with lions and indigenous tribes and stuff like that -- or Austraila? Or how about a museum where they store all the stuff they sto- I mean, collected in all of their past expeditions? - New Wild West theme - Zoo sub-theme for Town - Ancient Rome/Greece/Egypt (pyramids...!) - Remake the Islanders for Pirates - A cavemen theme...? - Outback sub-theme for Town - An Arabic faction for Castle/Kingdoms (could use camels from the Prince of Persia line) - Mongols/Huns/barbarians...? SETS: - More village/civilian stuff for Castle, maybe a "forest" set with lots of natural stuff (things like built trees, rocks, waterfalls...) - More siege weapons (how about a TREBUCHET?) - An architecture (or whatever it's called) set with an Egyptian pyramid - A section of the Great Wall of China, minifig scale (that could be pretty useful!) - Some kind of modern ship -- military or otherwise -- minifig scale, very detailed and accurate - A pack of extra studless plates - A pack of extra flora pieces (there used to be one for Town in the 90s) Oh, and could you please quit making all those new licensed themes? Enough already! By the way, is it just me, or has most of the recent stuff from LEGO come out as a response to posts from this thread...? -
I don't like the new redish brown colour that has replaced the usual brown one. Why... WHY DID YOU DO THAT?! *Breathes heavily* Please bring back the old brown.
-
I would LOVE to finally see a brown bear. I think it should be a different mold than the polar bear, since they look a little different (maybe shorten the tail, make the head a little more round, with a slightly shorter neck...). Though I would be happy if it was just a brown coloured version of the polar bear. Themes that could incorporate this: - a new Wild West theme - a zoo theme (sub-theme of Town) - Castle... there could, for example, be a set with a villager guy with a pet bear (I hear that there were people that trained bears to do tricks in the Middle Ages), or some "woods" set with part of a forest and maybe a bear's hibernation cave (WOW, that sounds great!). Other than that, I would like to see the old body armour from Classis Castle come back. As well as the halberd replace the new spear-like thing (don't know what it's called). Yes, I know this topic is about new elements, but whatever...
