  1. Mosana, I've been away from the board and was so incredibly excited to find your work... it honestly lead me back. I love your Napoleanic Era designs, from where are you getting your inspiration? Do you have a particular book or is it through internet searches? Great... Professional. Work.
  2. Norrington, Every design you create gets better and better. My only suggestion would be to "stroke" your medals with a black line. Basically, making them stand out and not letting them get lost in the jacket. Fantastic work. Keep up the great efforts, and be nice to your sister... They have a way of growing up!
  3. Amanda, fantastic work. I very much appreciate the time and attention to getting us these designs! Kudos!
  4. Good to be back with ye filthy swabs! It's been too long I've been stuck on land... As a token of my high esteem for me brethen and ladies, I'd like to give ye a look at some torso's I've been working on... Thanks be to Lamanda2 and Mosana for providing the inspiration. In true pirate style I stole ideas and refitted for me own purposes. surgeon american frontier/colonial tracker crew cook diplomat (true credit be to morsana for this one, I just changed the colour and added a neckchief)
  5. Just FYI here is a man living the dream... http://www.cnn.com/2007/SHOWBIZ/05/31/lego.artist/index.html
  6. Amen Legeaux. Fantastic point, not to mention I learned quite a bit of nautical history in your thoughtful response... Remember, pirate vocabulary is more like a loose set of guidelines... Even our heroes run in error...Jack (POTC 1) - "I
  7. Tiber. I don't know if the quarterdeck is too high... I do like how you brought out the window so it's not 'flush', it gives the stern some depth and dimension. I do wonder, the ladder is fine but a staircase would be more fitting? As always Tiber... you have a fantastic ship great work! Thanks for the share.
  8. Mister Phes you are so right. I don't have the time to create individual threads or re find all the threads that some are posted in so I thought I'd just throw out the link for you to decide if it is worthy of the forum. Thanks for all you do!
  9. Ahoy, I don't have the rankings to post in the "Library of Hond.." so someone will have to move but here are a few of the sites I've used for reference in my pirate building projects... some excellent photos here. The links... http://members.visi.net/~markmcb/ http://san.siberia.net/photo/lj/337/kor/ (This site has over 90 ship paintings for reference through the index) http://channel.nationalgeographic.com/channel/blackbeard/ (National Geographic site on Blackbeard) http://www.wizkidsgames.com/pirates/ (Fantastic references in the gallery section to spurn ideas)
  10. Ahoy, I've been cleaning up my bookmarks and thought I would share a link I've used of others MOC's for inspiration... Obviously, not my work...but galleries and works that have inspired me. http://www.mocpages.com/directory.php/15
  11. I saw this over the weekend and really enjoyed some of the technic. I can't however see past all the sails... and you all no my minor pet peeve... the flags are blowing in the wrong direction :) Excellent find and share!
  12. Brilliant, your words are brilliant. Yes feel free administrators to move to the general discussion area if you would like. How do you feel about sound effects while you build is that taboo? :)
  13. I love that licorice! It reminds me of my grandparents... I won't say what the swimming suit reminds me of... popcorn? Please delet, I should have never posted! :) It's way too late.
  14. Okay, so here is the question. I have long insisted to my wife and family that as an adult I don't "play" with Legos I "build" with Legos... Am I just in denial? What if I make sound effects when I "build", does that cross the "build" or "play" line?
  15. Elroy, Bravo! simply magnificent. Thanks for sharing the details, I loved your website and look forward to the progress of your ambitious project! Thanks for sharing!
  16. I used an Epson CX6600 all-in-one printer on the "finest photo" setting... Best wishes in all your printing.
  17. News that the unpredictable has been destroyed was well... who could have predicted? I must say the ship was a major motivation for me to build my Revenge. I love the clean lines you were able to achieve with this ship and I loved the bow! I can't wait to see your next creation!
  18. My wife would kill me if she found me with popcorn. hee hee hee The Revenge stickers are all my own creations. As for the photos. I have quite a few ships and colonial village photos I've plundered from research on the internet. I just don't know where I got them all so I'm skeptical of posting without reference. I mean I'm a pirate but I don't feel comfortable pirating...
  19. I think I found it on "photobucket.com" when I did a search for pirate ships. I have so many ship images on my computer I can't remember where I got this one... Some people collect porn, I collect ship photos. :) For all the kids reading this post I meant corn... some people like to collect different kinds of corn... to eat... and to... plant, ya to eat and to plant.
  20. If we find that he is guilty of blatant piracy do we promote him?
  21. Thank you for all the positive comments. I can't believe I forgot a rudder! Thanks for noticing... MisterPhes if you saw this stern in another thread please share... this is all original and hasn't been released only on this board. MrTiber I would be happy to make you a name plate for your ship...it may take me alittle time since I am in the middle of some other projects. The secrets... the stickers were made in Photoshop and printed on the same sheet as all my torsos. The stern detail above the windows were created by modifying some photos I found on a google image search of sterns. I'll try to get some interior shots over this next weekend. Just a note about the electrical tape. Yes that is what is on the bow hull. I placed it on the hull before I placed some peices in so it's become difficult to remove... and well I'm lazy but it does need to be removed. This is one of the photos I used for inspiration btw...
  22. 16b Ahoy, As you can see this has been an extremely busy month with new minifigs and decals. I also made an attempt at my version of Queen Anne's Revenge (Blackbeard's ship). This ship is one of the largest I have made, in that I used four hull sections, and it has three decks. With a couple of custom stickers this ship has quite a bit more detail than others I have created. Perhaps the features that I am most proud of are, a cabin that is removable for playability. Under the cabin is a storage hold. On the second deck you can remove the stairs to reveal the first deck and the cannons therein... The bow has some strong detail and I hope I've bettered the positioning of the masts. I hope to post the photo I used for inspiration but it is copyrighted in a book. You may notice some electrical tape on the bow that needs to be removed. This is an excellent way to "color" the hulls but I ended up feeling it made the ship too black... Feel free to critic... and enjoy. The complete brickshelf gallery can be found at: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=208519 (Moderators please feel free to resize photos.)
  23. what about the "technic tubes"? Any idea on what # that is?
  24. Thanks Berry for your comments. Let me just say, I think what I've learned about Lego faces is that they are freaking impossible because you don't deal with noses... Ya, a lot of people are beginning to bag on POTC but I wonder if it's not the movies that aren't keeping some awareness of the genre.
  25. I think what I love about the ship is the third sail in the mid mast, and of course the bow of this ship is excellent. I can't fault the color scheme because it's original and you build with the parts you are dealt.
