  1. Yes. And I'd refer you to several other ongoing threads, and also point out that with such an enormous number of customers, you will always have people demanding a company operates how they see fit. I know this is the internet, and its just how it is, but I personally am getting tired of all the whining... and it seems to have gotten worse here at EB lately. No matter what TLG does, people will complain, and in a way, when TLG capitulates, it's like giving into terrorists... they just end up with more complaining.
  2. And yet you keep repeating the same arguments over and over again, despite the fact that most of us don't seem to agree with you... to which you complain it's because we're all guys... when we're not. Maybe you should look through the last couple of pages, there's at least one woman who disagrees with you. The fact of the matter is there's a bunch of variety in both male and female figures (an example of which you pointed out yourself). Where's the problem?
  3. Meh... I still agree with Meatman. Couldn't agree more. Sorry for the so-called "customizers," variety is the spice of life... the more figures, and the more they vary, the better, IMO. You want plain torsos, then order plain torsos from S@H or bricklink. None of us are arguing that all female figures need large breasts or curvy hips, but that they exist doesn't prove anything negative. That they are not the only way TLG represents women, as mccoyed actually proved, shows that there is more to the side that argues there's nothing wrong here... a nice varied representation.
  4. So, when I ordered mine is was "will ship in 30 days," but I got it with the rest of my order. The exosuit, on the other hand, said "will ship in 30 days" and hasn't arrived. All ordered on 8/1 (actually arrived yesterday... so just shy of one week).
  5. Meh... I agree with meatman.
  6. Insectoid Legs are gone; the bionicle masks are gone. As I'm re-sorting my LEGO collection, though, I'm sure I'll find other things.
  7. I have bought from both, they are both excellent quality.
  8. Nice display, Whitefang... If you build the base out of LEGO, and alternate five rows... 6-7-6-7-6, you fit exactly 32, which is two full sets of cmfs, but I do the same for my super heroes collection, too. It's packed pretty well, but they all fit.
  9. Floggle. A floggle of minifigures. Hey, baby, Let me show you my floggle. Or kerfuffle. A kerfuffle of minifigures. At least that's an actual words.
  10. Regarding headphones, my son is online playing all the time (sadly after Lego phase), and he's always got the headphones on. As for ratios, of course we can't tell specifically, but it seems to me TLG took the criticism of terrible ratios (6 of one, 2 of others) seriously, since the Simpsons was back to the old counts, where you got three complete sets in a box. We will see when Whitefang posts his review .
  11. It occurs to me that these will be quite easy to tell the figures by the "feel" method... a lot of good unique accessories to feel for.
  12. The rocker, to me says Joan Jett. Edit: on closer look, a hairy chest says no. I am not exited to be a completist anymore... the first ten sets were a nice thing, but they just aren't as exciting anymore. Depending on the distribution, I may buy a box, but this is the closest I've been to not caring. The pigs would be cool. I dream of Jeannie would be great if LEGO could look like Barbara Eden. I like the spooky girl a lot, and a couple of others, but on the whole, not all that exciting to me.
  13. Like pretty much every other license, TLG can't sell action figures... they can only sell building sets. So no, they can't sell these figures after the fact just to dilute the market. They'd have to package them in a building set... and if they did that, the figures sold at CC would still be "exclusive" just because of the packaging. This is a no win situation. I don't like if they don't release figures later (at least we're finally get a Green Lantern in a regular set!), as I said before, but I can't begrudge them making exclusives and promotional give aways.
  14. I first used hydrogen peroxide several years ago... it worked great, although for bad pieces I might have to leave it out in the sun for 2 days instead of 1 (I do live in sunny Georgia, USA, the sun is quite strong here). The last few times I've added the Oxiclean, and get spectacular results in 6 or 7 hours. It never ceases to amaze me. Note that you don't have to use a retrobright style with a thickening agent - if you have small piece, you can just put them in a plastic container (last time - just a week or so ago - I used a small pick-a-brick container), cover the pieces with hydrogen peroxide (I use the very low % version you find in the supermarket... just don't water it down any more) and a tablespoon or so of oxiclean. Stir it up, leave it out... I did go an stir the parts after a few hours. It does affect the pieces. I wouldn't say they are dry and brittle, but you do clean ALL the oils off of them - most of your parts probably have the slightest coat of oil just from being touched. It might make them harder to put together and increases the clutch power. Over time, I cannot tell you which were the pieces I de-yellowed, but I've done mostly white and gray with a few blue pieces thrown in. I will admit most of my pieces immediately just go into their bins, and maybe along the years I've taken them out and built something, maybe not... I mix them in with my other pieces, and can't tell you which ones had been cleaned, so I do not think there's any long term problems. I've never done one with stickers or print on it. The retrobright formula includes thickeners only so that you can "paint" large pieces with it... so you don't need the thickener unless you're doing something you can't reasonably submerge.
  15. Ooh... very nice. Don't care much about the Quarterstaff, but new hat is awesome; the wand is a welcome change from plain bars, and that vine-whip has a lot of potential (I think I'd replace Poison Ivy's "vine" with that one, for starters, but I can see whole gardens of that).
  16. I will not take my family to a theme park on a busy day without having whatever they call the system of getting though the lines faster... fast pass, quick queue, whatever. It's very expensive to go, you spend all that money - not just for tickets, but food, transportation, hotels, and whatever else (souvenirs?)... it seems like extortion, but adding that amount on so that you haven't paid for a day of waiting in lines, and instead paid for actually going on a lot of rides, makes it grudgingly worth it to me. As InfiniteSD pointed out, you can often do in one day what would take several otherwise. My final straw was Disney World the day after Christmas about 15 years ago. The parking lot was beyond filled to capacity (if that's possible); the already enormous parking lots were completely filled to the point people had to park on the grass on the sides. I think we went on three rides all day. That's just not fun.
  17. That's really gorgeous... the tree is quite nice; I wonder if it's an original style, or is this some technique for making trees I haven't seen? I also like the randomness of the "pavement," (or cobblestones), it's really a great look and a great little detail that makes this MOC really spectacular - all those little details add up to a beautiful finished product... congratulations!
  18. The image links to shirt.woot.com, a site that offers a different T-Shirt every day. Although you can go back and order older shirts, if you buy it on the day it's offered it's cheaper.
  19. My problem with this kickstarter product is that it's almost just like Sterilite drawers, only more expensive. Sure, it's got the "studs" design on it, which might give you some ability to mix up how you stack the individual units, but it seems like it would be ridiculously expensive compared to Sterilite. Taller Sterilite units can also give you variations in drawer sizes. I just am not excited about this, nor do I see the appeal over what's already available.
  20. This video is now available on netflix streaming. Edit: now, as I'm watching, I'm quite annoyed... the person speaking on behalf of TLG says they created the first plastic brick. They didn't have to lie about it. They took it and made it better.
  21. If you're going to do a poll like this - some non-official poll, do it on EB, don't offer me a blind link to follow. I prefer the AAA battery box for several reasons: mainly cost and the ability to quickly change batteries without having to wait to recharge. You can always use rechargeable AAA batteries if it's important to you... and it would still cost less than the LEGO option.
  22. I know I'm reviving a dead thread, here; I have no complaints about BlueBrick, but looking around for software I stumbled across AnyRail, and given it has support for LEGO, it looks just awesome... It's got a free limited demo (although it supposedly will not expire, just limited options); the price tag is not great... $US60.00... I'm not thrilled with that. Just wondering if anyone else has tried or been using it, and what your thoughts are.
  23. ... and starting today we all get to pay $3 extra per flight to pay for more TSA... does anyone actually feel safer when flying now? On my last trip to Brazil, I couldn't even fly domestically in Brazil without being held to the same moronic restrictions... at least they let me break the file off of my nail clippers instead of just confiscating them altogether.
  24. The only up-priced set I bought was a Super Chief.... I lucked out on a bricklink auction (way back in 2007, when they actually still had auctions) and got it for $100. I generally am too cheap to pay more than MSRP for sets, though... I would rather go without. I built the cars from bricklinking parts... with some minor modifications. Good enough for me.
  25. While I don't like the exclusives, personally, people who are "collectors" find value in things because of the rarity. I think TLG does a disservice to fans, but I understand the mentality behind it. At the same time, I am even annoyed at anything we don't all get an equal chance for... like Chrome Darth Vader. You could be the biggest SW fan and have multiples of every SW set released, and some kid who never even saw SW gets a gift from Grandma and gets lucky. Or Mr. Gold... I have multiples of every single other regular series collectible figure; I buy it by the box when they come out (and for me, not for resale, although I might trade a few here at EB, and give some away)... it's annoying that someone randomly gets lucky and finds one. At the same time, I realize why they do it... it certainly must increase sales. Let's face it, if LEGO had a convention where I lived and I could get an Atlanta ... oh, I don't know... Dragon Con exclusive? I might not mind so much. But I will NEVER go to SDCC, nor will I likely ever have credentials to go to any kind of commercial toy fair that TLG would go to. I guess ultimately I voted I didn't like it, but I understand why they do it, why some people are all for it (because they have much easier access), and I surely don't expect it to change. For what it's worth, all I ask is that the same characters be made available at some point... not the same exact figure, not the exclusive, but the same character in a more common version... so when it's a character I really want, I can get one... just not the exclusive one. That's generally good enough for me.
