  1. Nice picture Carbohydrates! It really brings out how good it looks to see it in use. Isn't that minifig holding it with his hand upside down though? lol I've still yet to figure out which side is supposed to be up but I always thought it felt more right with the curved part on the bottom but usually when I get minifgs they have the curved part on top. Ahhh I see. I was scratching my head for a bit and thinking him, I wonder if they could mix metal into the plastic. Nickle! I see now. Thanks for info, I'm always curious of how things are made.
  2. Everyone did a good job. They were all great! It was difficult for me to decide but here's my votes. Admiral Ron....1 - I especially enjoyed the minifigs details and actions using nice tools. All the minifigs are doing something interesting. The man in the attic using a listening device to spy on the men below. The jeweler inspecting jewels with the real magnifying glass. The chest has gold bars in it. Lorenzen........2 - "Tell me a story grandpa" gave me a warm nice feeling of good family thoughts. I love the treasure underneath the boards laying hidden. Gold coins, silver coins, gold goblets, old wine bottle, etc. Nate..............1 - I like the lady's outfit and the room. The floor boards are a nice brown black brown design. Door has nice latch that helps the picture story. Nice candle on wall and I like the tapestry in the background. Most of all I just like the lady's expression on her face it's so funny I don't know why but I think it's cut and it brings me a giggle. :) Selander.......2 - Gotta love the pie stand! The signs are awesome, "Pie-Rates" haha :D I like how one slice has already been sold or eaten and the rickety wooden table is neat and interesting. Who doesn't love a pie stand? :D Fenrir...........1 - I just love the lady, she looks annoyed and bothered to have to go answer the door and it reminds me a bit of Nate's moc. Using a yellow hand as the candle flame was interesting.
  3. Plastic can be electroplated? That's something new to me. Learn something every day. I've had metal car parts electroplated for a custom car I had and it's much better then chrome dipping which chips. But I'm curious as to how plastic can be electroplated since plastic is not a conductive material. The swords looks especially awesome and having a nice chrome hand gun would be great too! I've read the website before and I'm impressed.
  4. Wow this is really beautiful! My niece likes snowglobes so I'm trying to figure out how she made it lol. It's so cute! I'm kind of jelous because I'm a single at this time and it's kind of sad for me not to have someone special during the holidays. But I do have a few special friends and family. I think it's especially meaningful that even though she's not normally into Legos, that she went through the time and effort to make this. That's really heart warming. And it's glued too so you can have it forever over your mantle :D I love it! You are a lucky guy and I wish you both the best! I'm sure that Santa has you both on his super good list!
  5. I like it! Looks like it's bananas on the menu today for the prisoners heehee!
  6. Heya Nightshroud99! I've watched tons of your youtube reviews with my niece and watching your videos helped me on deciding what sets to buy. I bought the winter toy shop after seeing your review. Your comments on the crazy kid were funny and I even made that kid as my avatar :) You have great reviews.
  7. I am loving this thread! :D I wish I saved pics of mine. I will next time. A few weeks ago I took my 6 year old niece and my mom out to the mall and dinner with the intention of buying my niece her first and my first, PAB cup. Large cup $15 it was so much fun! Even my mother was grabbing the small jewels and 1x1s to fill the gaps on the sides and the bottom edge of the cup. I wasn't sure how strict they were so like many people I figured that the rule would be the lid must fit on shut. So I even put some pieces in the top stud of the cup and did a quick shut onto the cup. It would not shut so my niece sat on it lol! We heard it click and it closed! That baby was packed tight! As a matter of fact, we were afraid to hold the cup as it felt like one wrong touch would have the thing EXPLODE! After leaving the store it did explode but inside the bag as my niece was carrying it Also, my 6 year old niece made her first theft! We did one of those build-a-minifig packs where you make 3 minifigs. Well after leaving the store and going to the donut shop in the mall, she put her hand in her pocket and found a minifig hat! She accidentally put one her pocket somehow. The store had tons of kids and she was shy. I'm guessing when she was building and watching the other kids, she nervously put her hands in her pockets not thinking about the tiny hat. She had a big surprised worried look on her face and asked me if little kids can go to jail and asked what should we do. Well as much as I wanted to keep an extra minifig hat that we didn't have, I thought this would be a good lesson for my niece. We walked back to the Lego store and she put it back. I was so proud of her. We don't need any bad karma, we like good karma. :D
  8. I seen a few lego trips and video of the factory, I probably know the one your talking about. I've worked in a factory before but never in a situation where a product contains hundreds or thoughsands of tiny parts like Lego. Those machines, run 24 hours a day everyday and one machine can be spitting out hundreds of pieces per second. Who ever the engineers are that create those machines are very talented. It's amazing how the pieces come out and land in the same place all the time and get turned this way or that way to go into a bag. With the amount of parts coming out incredibly fast from the machines, I don't know how they have the accuracy that they do. It's amazing! Of course each machine needs maintenance after a certain amount of time. So many things can happen. I'm glad to see this post because I was very curious as to how many people have had missing pieces in their sets. I've not had nearly the amount of sets in my life as you all. I've never had a piece turn up missing but their have times where I put a piece in the wrong place in the build and needed it somewhere else so for an hour I start thinking it might be missing but it turns up eventually when I find out my mistake after back tracking a bit. Me and my niece were building the Winter Toy shop Tree and we cannot find four 2x4 plates needed left to finish the tree. I looked so much that we ran out of time and have to finish it friday when she comes over. Since I just got back into Lego I don't have any green 2x4 plates lying around so we are going to do everything else and maybe the 2x4 pieces will turn up then. If they don't, then I'll stick some brown ones I got on the bottom lol.
  9. Another one for MonkeyJam It's a pretty well known program and is pretty good. The way it's setup can make it easier if your syncing sound and voices. It's a little different then normal editing software as it is specifically made for animation.
  10. Adobe after effects is a complicated program to use. But it is a very good professional product. The pirate film was great. Good editing too but as you already know you need to add more frames to your animation so that the movements can look more fluid. Remember the old stopmotion animation rule, Ease in, Ease out. I found this it might help you a bit. Just trying to be helpful :) Slow, fast, slow type of thing.
  11. I don't think the Zombie figure looks like a Zombie to me. It seems to be getting some of the most votes. Maybe I'm a bit more critical because I'm a big horror fan, especially a big fan of Zombie movies old and new. My favs are the robot and the clown because of the heads. The zombie has a regular head and body but it's just dark green for some reason I don't understand. I guess it's inspired from some green cartoon zombies but it's not even greed it's like a dark greyish green. Their is an agents bad guy figure that has some eyes that look like they are being hypnotized. That would have been better for the eyes. He's wearing a business suit so he looks like a business man that became a zombie but he has no business man hair. He's a baldie lol.
  12. DOH! This post got my hopes up :/ I saw this on the front page and thought it was some new Goblin minifs for the Lego store build-a-fig workshop. These figures are awesome. They should make them for real! They remind me of the Goblin Engineers from World of Warcraft. They are really great. Looks like I got to get me some Yoda's :)
  13. I think the Toy Story County Jail/Sherrif set is just awesome! My niece will love that one! I'd seen the characters before and I love how they look in this picturesque seen. I'm going to be showing the toy story movies now to get her ready for it
  14. I think I know what you mean. I wanted to get more pink, purple, magenta bricks for my 6 year old niece who loves those colors and wanted to add them to her 405pc pink brick box. I've looked everywhere and noted the prices. Some of the pieces can be much higher then average pieces but I understand why. These pieces are more rare. They usually only come in the pink brick box or Bellville sets and the Bellville sets don't usually come with a lot of pieces or as much as other sets because they have a lot of big already built sections in the box. The best that I've seen as a way to get them is by searching ebay for the color names and you can find people selling lots of those colors only. Or like some recommended, contact someone at brick link for a deal on a bulk order. Look at it this way, if you ever want to sell them and get your money back you can since Lego seems to hold value.
  15. I've never thought about the plastic spruces but I have thought about the boxes. The boxes are way bigger then need to be. One of the best product packaging designs is by Apple. They make it look good, compact, environmentally conscience withdesigns for pockets for guides. I'm an iPhone user. I believe the reason for Lego making huge oversize boxes is because of the display to set cost ratio. I've never met a person in real life who hasn't said, "Legos are so expensive." I even said it up until recently. I set out to research and find out why they cost so much. They are an expensive toy to make because of the amount of pieces and molds and precision manufacturing. Not to mention the fact that they are an oil based plastic and dependent on high oil costs. Most who goes to the story just sees, "it's just a plastic toy why so expensive." Imagine a $60 Lego set like the 815pcs. I recently measured to ship one out. The box is about the lenth of my arm and 4 times bigger then it needs to be. I have the bags on the floor from me. These bags would fit in my 68pc city car box in front of me here, when done right. It would be compact together and their would be less slaming around in the box. But you know what 90% of people would say? (Since I've read only 10% of consumers are AFOL/the hardcore fans) "wow $60 for this little box! What a rippoff!" They don't think about how it takes tons of molds, specifically made precision tools to make all the pieces. Most don't realize that plastic is a petroleum based product. Most toys are created from way less molds and the machinery doesn't have to be so precise. I've read about the imitation Lego bricks and how they aren't the same quality. I actually wanted to make a post on why Legos cost so much and show some of what I found out. Now I know. Although, I still don't why Lego Mindstorm & power functions cost is so high and why on the NXT Intelligent Brick has barely any memory, and why Lego decided PF to use RC IR control rather then RC RF for remote control. I'm sure I can easily rig it for radio frequency. If anyone is interested in talking about the subject maybe I'll still make the topic. lol I know I talk too much
  16. I was thinking of the same scenario and another scene came to mind that I have been curious of. When Lego did the Star Wars Anniversary special and put 10,000 black chrome Darth Vader figs randomly into boxes, their were tons of people who went to 25 different stores with a scale weghing all the boxes finding the special edition rare Darth Vaders. I wonder how many were caught? When me and my mother went to Target a few weeks ago and were Christmas Shopping for Lego sets in the Lego isle, there was 3 kids with skateboards and I don't know what they did but security and the manager escorted them out. All the stores have cameras with people watching. Not always able to see in all the isles of course but the Lego isles are always full of kids and parents. They would see you doing it and ask what your doing or report you. Then you'd be escorted out and banned. If you come back after being banned they call the police for trespassing. Who ever new being a Lego maniac could lead to prison!
  17. Looks like this is an older thread. I hope it's okay to reply. I just had to put in a reply here as I'm new and I actually saw this MOC on one of the other sites but didn't know who made it. I even saved a pic of it in my Lego pictures folder. Now I can add "by Aliencat" to the filename :D This is my absolute fav MOC I've seen. I love it so much. It's hilarious how one guy is jumping out of the building at a last attempt to save his life like someone jumping out of a burning building, while another person..or rather cat, is peeking out the window wondering what's going on hahaha! It's like real life. A disaster is happening, and you while the people who are paranoid and very aware of their surroundings are panicking, another person is drowsily oblivious to what's been going on until the last minute. Haha. I love the brave people going to "slay" the mysterious monster. One happens to be a brave cat lol possibly related to the other cat peeking out the window. Are those figures from Fabuland? The one as your avatar is cute and funny too. Cutlass_Iz told me about them in my newbie thread and how her girl likes them. I am going to have to order them from Bricklink. They are very old I believe. Hopefully I can get some preferably without teeth marks lol. Mandy Chicago!
  18. Bag packaging for Blind Box figure products is really a big no no. Sure some are going to take advantage and feel around for the ones we want but I can foresee problems. If there is one figure more rare or more popular among fans, people are going to feel around and get the best ones for themselves or to Ebay. Then you got a poor child who begs his mom and finally gets a few packs only to see that all his 3 packs are the most disliked figures with the same doubles. That's a bit disheartening. I'm curious as to how the decision was made to use bags. The point of Blind Box figures isn't just for companies to make money but also to promote a social trading among friends in addition to having a small surprise. Sometimes it is the little things in life that brings joy. I could picture some people on here trading with each other and having fun.

    Gym

I really need to start going. But I don't know much about that stuff. I wish I could get a personal trainer. I'm 5'10" 150-160 pounds. Always been skinny. I also have chronic fatigue syndrome and Fibromyalgia. Which has me with muscle pains and fatigued often. If I went to the gym it would help me get energy and build muscle so that my muscles are stronger and hurt less. But I don't know what to do. When I was younger I once tried working out a little and I did gain some energy but my weight stayed the same. I don't want to build fat or mass, would like to build some muscle. I tried taking weight gainer but it never worked. I just don't know enough about health and working out. I was thinking of getting a nutritional as I think my health insurance covers it.
  20. Thanks all. Thanks WhiteFang for moving the thread to its correct location. After reading the rules, I actually spent some time before posting trying to figure out the best place to put the newbie hellos but I had some trouble there. I don't know how I missed this but my mind wanders at times hehehe.
  21. Wow some wild collections! I think it would be great to interview some of you on a podcast. Adding some pictures. This thread kind of scares me a bit. I'm one of those people that usually goes to extremes in anything they do. I'm the type of person that if I collect something, I gotta have them all. I play EQ2 Online and I always have to have all the rare event items before they go. I have over $10,000 in music gear but that isn't much in the professional world. I just got back into Lego and I've probably unknowingly spent about $700 in the last month if you count my latest Black Friday Official Lego store $330 order. We thank goodness Lego is worth money when they get discontinued. At least if their is any need, I could sell it off if I need to.
  22. I very much like the bucket. I took special notice to the top of it as it has the same compatible huge Lego brick studs just like the ones my niece started on when she was just starting to walk. We had 2 boxes and the lids have studs on them, great for using the lid as a plate.
  23. Wow I've never seen a big clear baseplate! Where does that come from? Nice unique design. Looks pretty original.
  24. This video is awesome. I saw the post the other day before I joined and I spent over an hour reading the website where the guy shows how he did that video. It is really great!
  25. Over a week ago I went to the Lego store and they had them stacked on the shelves and a ton stacked on the floor. Same with the advent calendar. They also had a deal if you spent over $75 you get a free little cardboard house the size of a pick-a-brick small cup to fill after Christmas. I was surprised these 2 items weren't flying off the shelf! They were going for $80-100 on Ebay. I knew that so I bought one extra box. My niece of 6 years old came over and we started building it, saved the advent calendar for later, and the extra Winter Toy Shop I put on Ebay auction and it sold for $100 with free shipping. I normally dislike when people do that kind of thing but I needed some extra Christmas money and they were just sitting there untouched surprisingly. But now black Friday just passed, if you don't know what that is, here in America it is the busiest sales shopping day of the year where stores open on thanksgiving at midnight or at 5am the next day for deals. So I'm not sure if the shop still has some. I gotta say that it is pretty sad indeed that they couldn't have made enough supply. I mentioned this in another thread but Toys R' Us has been begging Lego to supply them with more and they offered them more shelf space at their stores. They have a whole isle both sides, end caps, and some middle isle shelving too! It's tough to get end cap space too! Tons of Lego's stock has been sold out on online stores so I took advantage of Black Friday and Lego's sale by spending over $300 on the official site. If they had an over $400 spending deal I probably would have gone to that.
