  1. Because the topic was left open, it looks like someone else voted to make it 30 - 30 again! :-D Thanks to VBBN for a great contest idea and to Unique Builder for the great competition.
  2. ROTFLMAO :-D Absolutely. Couldn't agree more.My vote goes to Optimus Convoy for a cracking idea, brilliantly executed. A special mention goes to Alex54 for his beatiful underwater scenery. It looks like both my favourites so far are headed to the final. It's going to be almost impossible to chose a winner at this rate.
  3. Thanks for the review of this set and some great modding ideas Mutley! One of the things I love about this version of the speeder is it's the first one where the canopy opens like it does in the movie: I've made a very simple mod myself with parts that are easy to get hold of (if you have a Pumpkin Pack handy that is). I've managed to keep the lift-off engines, introduce an orange stripe and tidy up the look of the thing too: Parts required (per speeder): 4x white 2x2 tile 4x white 1x3 slope 4x light or dark bley (either will do) 1x2 plate with side facing 2x2 bracket 2x orange 2x3 slope 2x orange 2x2 slope 2x dark bley (I've had to use dark grey for now) "star wars turbo laser" brick or whatever it's called
  4. Aha! I'm finally back from my Canadian vacation and can answer some of your queries. Yes please! I'd love to see pics. A 4-wide Bumblebee... now there's a challenge! Yes I've used pieces that weren't around then, mainly because I couldn't remember some parts of the original design. Ohnhai, help me out please! Can you remember how it used to go? Perhaps you could sketch it for us and post it up.
  5. I wasn't going to buy this set, but I spotted it on the shelf at my local TRU (Ipswich, UK) today and fell in love with it. *wub* I'm building it right now. Hoth dioramas on! Ooh, nearly forgot to mention, they also had the MTT, Naboo Fighter, and Jedi Starfighter with Hyperdrive Ring.
  6. I think the Fire Station is excellent! Plus, I couldn't resist voting for it so it would be a tie again (24 - 24 now). X-D
  7. Here are the final batch of pics. Part 3 (of 3): More power to the Police A nice Police hatchback: Needs MORE POWER!: Push me pull you: Errr, this is just getting silly now! All the components together:
  8. I hadn't noticed this thread! It would definitely be cool if Lego got a license for Transformers, even though I think it's unlikely. Sinner said earlier: It's funny you should ask that because I've just made an Optimus Prime that fully transforms without taking him apart into a 4-wide Lego city truck using just 97 bricks (see below)! 8-
  9. Thanks UB, there's more! Part 2 (of 3): Trick Truck! This one uses parts from the previous models, plus a truck cab. Small racing truck... ...becomes TV repair van... ...becomes small truck again using the pickup back... ...becomes articulated truck cab... ...becomes enormous racing truck!
  10. Hmm, interesting contest. When I read the suggestion about creating a modular vehicle, I thought this was a challenge I couldn't resist! It was tricky since I knew I had to finish before Friday as I'm off to Canada on vacation, but after a couple of evenings work I have come up with the PaulC Modular Vehicular System (Patent Pending). Part 1 (of 3): How far can you stretch your pickup? Pickup truck: Limosine with opening trunk: Combine the parts from both to make a stretch limo: Not stretched enough? Try a hot tub at the back: Still not enough? How about a bigger engine and an enormous wing: More soon!
  11. I voted for Landlubber's Yoot too. I like to see some of the unique police vehicles adapted for different situations around the world, and Landlubber's is an excellent moc of a real life police vehicle. He really captured the rugged look of a vehicle ideally suited for policing the Australian outback.
  12. Thanks for the translation. Toransufomu andu roru outu! Don't tempt me, I'm seriously thinking about whether that's possible now! *wacko*
  13. I'll second Sinner with that comment. Our first Transformers-Themed-Whack and I think it's my favorite of the contest so far. *wub* I just love the way Optimus' head is poking through the window. I'm wondering how he's going to get it out again!
  14. This is the only one of the new castle sets I've been able to get hold of so far. I know others have done it before, but as soon as I'd got it, there was something I just had to try: Heh, cool! *skull*
  15. Hey lookit, I've been blogged in Japanese too! I don't know quite what " トランスフォオオオオオオオオオムッッッ!!!! " means, but with all those repeated characters and exclamation marks it must be something like "awesoooooommmme!!!!!". ;-)
  16. ^ | Hey, it's Steve (Ohnhai)'s first post everybody. Welcome to Eurobricks Ohnhai. People round here sure seem to like your Optimus Prime design. How's the weather in Melbourne? I totally forgot about the Ravage you made as well. I can't remember much of the detail on that one. We'll have to get our heads together via email if you want me to try building that one. It will have to wait for now though since I'm off to Canada for two weeks on Saturday! Yay! Yup, a few people have mentioned that Optimus seems to have really let himself go lately and gotten a bit of a gut. In fact you could say that he's past his Prime. :-D Aw, man I'm sorry, I couldn't resist that one!The trouble is there doesn't seem to be anywhere I can put an hinge in the cab without either making it look totally unlike a traditional Lego truck or destroying it's structural integrity. Prime's just going to have to live with the taunts from the other Autobots! ;-)
  17. At last my evil plans can be revealed. I've been silent on this thread for a while since it took quite a lot of time and effort to put together Eurobricks first Animated Multi-Whack-a-Fig Vignette, but at last I've finally Whacked my Walrus I hope the whackees are all happy (Brainbox, I had to give you a haircut as I lacked the long blonde hair piece). Phew! I'm just going for a little lie down now... *wacko*
  18. Finally, I've completed my entry. What I've made here is an animated vignette, which may not be strictly within the rules, but it's my first Lego animation and I had a lot of fun with it. This is classic slapstick! Title: A Whacky Boating Adventure Location: A rowboat tied to a small jetty Whacker: Paul C Whackees: 007, Brainbox, Quarryman, Darth Legois 619 and just for good measure, Sinner as well! Weapon: Large oar PaulC and Sinner planning a boating trip one pleasant Sunday afternoon. Some of their Eurobricks friends have come to see them off. PaulC hears one of the gang call out to him and turns round to say hi. Ooops! Hearing a yell from behind him, PaulC turns round again. A broadside to Brainbox's... err... brainbox causes the jetty to collapse and hilarity ensues! :-D And finally, the piece de resistance, an animated Gif file (apologies if it makes the page load slowly)!
  19. Sorry about your disappointment Yoda, I think your design is closest to the spirit of MTV's show. But obviously what swung it for me was not the amount of chrome, but the type of chrome: Golden samurai horns beats a reflection of Yoda in his boxers every time! :-D Thanks for voting y'all! X-D
  20. Thanks all. That's the most effusive praise I've had for anything I've ever posted, but as I said the design was done by my friend Steve (Ohnhai) over 20 (Gulp! Scary!) years ago! Steve also designed a G1 Megatron, so you might see that in a little while if I can remember how it goes. Ok, ok, you twisted my arm. ;-) I'll see what I can do, although it might take a while. I'm flying off to Canada on vacation this week and I'll be gone till mid-August. You're right! Prime looks like he's got quite a beer belly! :-D I tried a flat windscreen but it didn't reduce the size of his gut, and in the end I preferred how the sloped screen looks in truck mode.
  21. Nice Camino DJ! Talking of Tranformers in this thread reminded me of a design my friend Steve came up with for a 4-wide Optimus Prime. I tried to build it from memory and here it is: http://eurobricks.hosting.ipsyn.com/eurofo...showtopic=10511
  22. Neat! I don't think the design of the flat beds is silly at all. There are some good techniques there. I like the John Deere one especially for the tractor and the design of the flat-bed looks like it could take some serious weight.
  23. With the resurgence of interest in Transformers, I've been thinking about the Lego ones me and my friend Steve (Ohnhai) used build back in the mid-80s. We were kids then and didn't have a lot of bricks, so small was beautiful in our eyes! I can't claim credit for this one, this is Steve's design, I've just tried to build it from memory and update it with a few modern components: Here we have an ordinary four wide Lego truck of the kind TLC used to produce in the 80's It's got everything you'd expect, a driver, doors, even a turntable to take a trailer Hang on, what's this? Standing up It's got legs! Ta-dah! Fully transformed, and quite poseable too. I think the hands look cool as they are, but for the finishing touch you can add some proper hands and a gun, just like G1 Optimus!
  24. I can't believe it either! Wow! *wacko* Please do take my opinions with a pinch of salt. I find a lot of these classifications are made by organisations so that their favoured buildings come out on top, and I'm no different. I carefully constructed my argument to favour the CN Tower because my wife is Canadian and I have a real soft spot for it. I'm totally biased, just like everyone else! ;-) I see Piranha's voting for Canada too. Thanks, man! One thing I will add though, if like me you like visiting these buildings and getting as high as you can, the CN Tower currently has the World's Highest Publicly Accessible Observation Deck at 447m. Last time I went was really cloudy, but I'm hoping the weather will be better when I'm there again next month. Great fun debatin' with ya BM. :-)
  25. Aha! The great debate begins. >:-) I guess I have a problem with some of the classifications that are put around these things. The CN Tower is not just a communications tower. (If we're talking communications towers, then the KVLY-TV mast in North Dakota is the clear winner, although it's supported by guy wires, which is a whole 'nother debate! :-| ). With their huge masts, at least one function of all these buildings is as a communications tower, so if you're going to outlaw the CN Tower for that then all the buildings we've mentioned so far can go too.If you're talking office blocks where every floor is habitable, then Sears is the master, but I think the word "building" is a general term, and the "World's Tallest Building" should be more inclusive. I like to think of a building as a free standing structure, supporting it's own weight, which has at least some enclosed floors that people can work in, so I would include things like the Seattle Space Needle, Eiffel Tower (go France!), CN Tower (go Canada!), even the Jodrell Bank Radio Telescope. Architecturally too, I find all these more interesting than office blocks. I think office blocks are kind of constrained by their function, and like yourself I haven't seen many that are really inspiring, although of the new super-skyscrapers that are now being built I think Burj Dubai comes close! One thing I think we can all agree on however: Taipei 101 sure is ugly!
