  1. That's what I've heard too Snefroe, so I'm assuming the track available in PAB is old stock. It's difficult to know how much of this track they've got left, but if the've put it up on PAB, I'm guessing *a lot*! Thanks for the update Brick Miner.
  2. There are some cool designs there highlandcattle, I especially like the Mini made from the blue Auto-Pod. Cool pictures of Siberia too! It's taken me a whole week of building every evening to get the design close to how I want, but finally Brick Street Customs is open for business! Here are pics of the modded vehicles that come with 8681 Tuner Garage (click on the picture to see them all): And here are pictures of the garage itself (click on the picture to see them all): Enjoy!
  3. Just found out that the 25% off all Lego deal is at all UK TRU's and online at www.toysrus.co.uk. It runs from 21st November to 21st December 2006. Can some kindly Mod change the title of this thread to reflect this please?
  4. Curses! Went back to TRU yesterday and they still have plenty of CTTs, AND A 25% OFF ALL LEGO SALE (you must spend at least
  5. Thanks for the kind comments guys! I'm now working on a Brick Street Customs garage that will fit in with my yet-to-be-built city where my minifigs can get their Tiny Turbos tuned up. I'll be using quite a few parts from my 8681 Tuner Garage. The Tiny Turbos are cool because I want my City streets to be full of regular traffic, not just emergency and construction vehicles. The current City and even the previous Town ranges don't have many regular vehicles at all, so the Tiny Turbos really fill the gap. Plus their low price means I can pick them up anytime without worrying too much about the cost. They're like sweets you can eat between meals without ruining your appetite... err... bank balance! I'll post progress pics when I can. MOC on!
  6. Man, I just can't decide either. Both those sets are just too cool. But if you've got loads of subs already, I'd go for something new, so I'm voting for the crane.
  7. Sorry to resurrect this old thread, but inspired by alex54's work I've modified some of my own Tiny Turbos: Pictured are 8663 Fat Trax, 8661 Carbon Star, 8664 Street Maniac and 8662 Blue Renegade. Click on the picture to see more Tiny Turbo mods. Edited 25/11/2006 to fix broken links.
  8. I liked the design of the engine so much I built my own. By removing the decorations and all the white it makes a really neat train: Edited 25/11/2006 to fix broken link.
  9. Hi Brick Miner, slight deviation from the OP, but can you let us know what colour the tracks turn out to be when they arrive? I believe that Lego are producing 9v tracks in dark stone gray now as I got some when I ordered 10128 Level Crossing from Shop@Home a while back. I had to return the Level Crossing because it had a mixture of old light gray and light stone gray, and some of the parts that should have been gray were supplied in white! I don't mind the new colours, but I like to use the same grays throughout a particular model, so I'm very interested if new "old dark grey" track is still available because it will match my existing track.
  10. Well the Woolworths 25% off all Lego sale is over (for now) and prices are back to normal, but I did notice they have the 2006 City Advent Calendar in today. They're the first UK shop I've seen it in.
  11. Darn, there's just too much! My wish list: Star Wars: 7654 Droids Battle Pack (lots!) 7655 Clone Troopers Battle Pack (lots also!) 7656 General Grievous' Starfighter 7657 AT-ST 7658 Y-wing Fighter 7659 Imperial Landing Craft (Will maybe get a few of the big sets due later in the year if cash allows and once I've seen what they're like) City: 7942 Fire Pick-up 7945 Fire Headquarters 7990 Cement-mixer Truck 7991 Refuse Truck 7992 Containers 7998 Large Working Truck (thinking about the Sea Port too, but need to see pictures first) Creator: 4953 Fast Fliers (love that plane, I have already planned and built a prototype on how to adapt the cockpit to fit a minifig!) 4956 House Aqua Raiders: 7770 Deep Sea Treasure Search 7774 Submarine and Giant Crab (I think these two have the coolyest subs I think) Also tempted by ALL Tiny Turbos, ALL Exo-Force, Classic Space (depending what it looks like) and a couple of the Technic sets, and there are still some older sets that I dearly wish I could afford right now, eg: 4886 Building Bonanza, 6210 Jabba's Sail Barge, 7898 Cargo Train... Aaagh! My wallet just imploded!
  12. Round here we call them Forboding Prices. ;-) Their prices on all toys always seem significantly higher than anyone elses. I notice that their prices for the Imperial Landing Craft and the Y-Wing have already been "reduced" to
  13. Hi Folks, just stopped by my local Toys R Us and was amazed to find a pile of CTTs (non LULS version) for the usual
  14. I still can't figure out all the details, but if you look real close the garage door seems to be made out of plates, with 1 stud wide smooth plates placed vertically on the outside. I can't work out why there is a blank spot (showing the studs) in the middle and along the bottom edge. All very peculiar. I love this set and the previous Building Bonanza. Just the thing to add to your city if it's missing some residential development.
  15. Currently my local Woolworths in Ipswich has a few specials. As well as the Bridge Walker vs. White Lightning offer mentioned above they have also reduced the following sets: 6207 A-Wing Fighter
  16. If it's for a slide, why not try a bit of digital manipulation? Build your audience with a load of blank yellow faces (you can simply reverse their heads), take a digital photo, and then use photoshop or similar software to draw sleeping faces on them. Hey presto!
  17. Can I be awkward and say "none of the above"? I think it's cruel to ask us what our favourite set of 1990 is and then limit the choice to just those. ;-) 1990 was a great year for town sets, and I especially liked the idea that this year's town was somewhere different and more tropical with all the palm trees. Not all towns are in the same place or have the same climate! My fave sets include: 6375 Cargo Plane 6389 Emergency Fire & Rescue Station 6508 Racing Boat 6529 Microlight Plane 6530 City Car 6592 Weekend Cottage 6672 Safari Truck 6673 Private Plane
  18. Sorry to double post, but I've just been looking back at what I've bought over the last few years. There really has been a renaissance in small affordable MINIFIG sets. Below are some examples (prices are what we pay here in England).
  19. It makes no sense to me that a modern train station in a town or city should only have one platform. Ony one train can stop at the station at one time? How can they run a railway system like that? 7822 This is the only Minifig station with two platforms, plus I've always loved it's classic design and fantastic footbridge, so it gets my vote.
  20. Yes, I really don't like the Tiny Turbo packaging either but a least it's recyclable. That's where mine have gone - in the recycling bin! The X-Pod packaging tho is made of ABS and has studs on, making it useful in lots of cool creations, eg. http://members.lycos.co.uk/legoville/lego/...129mecha01s.jpg More small sets please Lego! I have bought all of the small City, Vikings, Exo-Force and Tiny Turbo sets. There have been some fantastic designs, and I don't have to justify the expenditure, I can just buy them on a whim. :-)
  21. I have always loved the fire theme. My first ever minifig was a fireman (620)! I guess the one we usually remember most fondly is the one from our childhood. I was very fortunate to have been bought a brand new 357 for Christmas 1975. That dates me! Unfortunately all the bricks I had back then were very well played with, worn, dented, many broken and lost. I don't even have the instructions any more (sniff!). In more recent times my youngest brother had 6389, which I regard as the pinacle of Minifig Fire Station design (sleek modern buildings, fantastic vehicles) before plunging into the dark ages of junoirisation. I'm surprised it didn't do better in this poll. I was deeply jealous of my brother at the time, as I was deemed to be "too old for Lego", but some years later I purchased one of my very own MISB on bricklink... and what's more I still haven't built it! Right that's it, this topic has got me all "fired" up! ;-) I'm going off to build it right now!
  22. Although it looks pretty different I think this is a straight redesign of the previous Droid Carrier. The vehicle is glimpsed briefly in the background as the Battle Droids invade Naboo in Episode 1, and a lot of detail is provided on it in the Episode 1 Incredible Cross Sections book. I'm surprised there's not an entry on Star Wars.com Databank, but it's just not there! I'm loving all these new sets. One of each for me I think!
  23. I got the turkey last year, and I can assure you those bricks aren't bley. They're that wierd medium blue colour, including the small band down on the legs. The eyes are printed rather than stickers and overall it's a very nice model!
  24. Thanks Hobbes, actually that's my own Website. X-D My opinion is that I prefer Lego because it's far more flexible in the different types of models that can be built, but Mega Bloks do some FANTASTIC sets, especially Nano and ProBuilder. All builders should be able to borrow ideas from each other!
