  1. Why yes BM, I do! This is a favourite topic of mine too. X-DOne of my iritations is that everyone seems to forget the CN Tower in Toronto. If you're talking "tip height", doesn't the CN Tower cinch it at 553.33m?
  2. oo7, got the hat, got the head. Whack on! Shakar, I can only fit four whackees plus the walrus into my current design, so I had to make some tough decisions. In the end I went for figs that (a) I have the parts for and (b) worked together in a kind of modern day setting. Sorry!
  3. My vig is now under construction, and it's a chance for a Multiple-Whack! I believe in equal opportunity whacking, so I'd like to pick a bunch people who haven't had a go at been whacked yet. Step forward please oo7, Brainbox, Quarryman and Darth Legois 619. Can I whack alla youse guys? Please? Pretty please? Pretty please with studs on top? Brainbox and Darth Legois, I can make your figs quite easily I think. Quarryman: does your fig just have a plain blue torso and a plain smiley head? oo7, I'm not at all sure where your torso comes from. Help! And I couldn't resist including Sinner as well. A Walrus has been bricklinked. You have been warned.
  4. Hooray! My Avatar is now showing my sig fig at last! Let the Whack-a-thon commence! I've found Sinner's Walrus on Bricklink and it's not expensive at all. I'm tempted to buy one just so I can whack yer! Another thought on the contest slogan, combining some other suggestions: "Whack off, you whacky guys, and let me whack my walrus in peace!" :-D
  5. How bizarre. I've cleared out all my browser cache information and I'm still seeing a picture of Vader in my Avatar on two different PCs. I must be going nuts, or hallucinating, or something!Tracking down a Fabuland Walrus ship captain is going to be tough! Is there anyone in the UK who is willing to maybe lend me one for a few days?
  6. Thanks Mr. Hinckley. Does that mean Fazoom is my Evil Twin???!!!I'm voting for Whack My Walrus! :-D P.S. I'm having trouble updating my Avatar. Can some kindly Mod completely delete my Avatar so I can upload a new one. Thanks!
  7. Ouch! I don't think that's me. I definitely wouldn't wear my hair like that. Maybe it's my evil twin brother or something. X-D That raises an interesting point. Does the sig fig of your whackee have to be exact, or is having the same face close enough? Adjudicator, a decision please!
  8. Hey DJ, I liked your cars so much I thought I'd try out the Camaro in real bricks. I used Quarryman's suggestion of with a couple of for each axle. This is as close as I could get to your original design with the bricks I have, although I couldn't resist adding some doors and a steering wheel: I also couldn't resist pimping it up a bit. By raising the roof one plate with the modern white roof piece, this version can fit a minifig:

    Pimp my Ride

V-LV-12C Hinckley and Stauder, your tricycles are quite... impressive. Yoda, now that's what I'm talking about! Dare I say it though, I think it needs more chrome!!! PIIIIIIMMMMP!
  10. What a neat contest! My avatar is usually a *vader* , but don't be confused, that's just to show I love Star Wars lego. This is my sig fig. Whack me if you dare (or if you can find the right bricks)! My contest entry will come later. Hmmm, I might change my avatar to my sif fig for the duration of the contest so people know who they're whacking...
  11. Thanks for all your comments. I'm on a roll at the moment, so here is a continuation of My Merry Midsummer Month of Modification MOC Madness! One of the things I love about about being part of the Eurobricks community is that you guys are always full of good ideas! Asuka, The reason I left off the mirrors is that I didn't want to lose the way those door-rail pieces overhang the windscreen - it's a sun visor I think, and is a feature I've noticed on real trucks of this type. I've now worked out a way to have both, so here is your suggestion in bricks, and an alternative idea of mine. I'm not sure which I like best at the moment. Marvinblue, I'd noticed that some of the studs get stuck when tipping them out, but hadn't thought of your neat solution which I've added here. I've also put in some 45 degree slopes on the tailgate, which help the studs slide in too. And finally, the secret revealed: Here's how I attached the front and still left room for the passenger's legs. I thought this mod would be quite weak, but it's surprisingly stable when it's butted up against the windscreen like that. That's all for today!
  12. Where I live, the garbage and recycling trucks are now one and the same. They have separate compartments in the back for the bin men to put the trash and the different kinds of recycling, and they all have the recycling symbol on the side. I think this is my favourite set from this year's city line, and Yoda's excellent review convinced me to pick one up. Even so, it needs quite a bit tweaking. The tweaks all seem minor, but I ended up adding around 35 extra pieces. I just want to add my voice and express solidarity with my Eurobricks brothers and sisters because I too will strike for car doors. So Asuka, this one's for you: I prefer SimonWillems method of adding doors (nice Fire Truck!), although it means I had to lose the mirrors completely. I tried Snefroe's suggestion of rearward facing doors but to me it just didn't look quite right. Notice the extra fuel tanks to fill in the gaps underneath. The whole truck is one stud shorter to remove the gap between the cab and the body. At the back of the cab, the driver now has a window at the top so he can check that the body is tipping correctly. I've fixed some of the "unsturdiness" mentioned by Brick Miner by securing the chimneys with a couple of clips. The black hand-holds right at the back have been replaced with white ones to keep the colour scheme consistent. I've managed to get two minifgs in the cab sitting side by side (can you see how I did it?). The original seating position is just wrong (I don't understand why when they got it right on the cement mixer). I've added seatbacks and headrests and even a centre console and gear lever to keep my minifigs comfortable. So you see, every set I buy from TLC is perfect! (At least when I've finished with them, they are!)
  13. Au contraire! I really like the old 9v lighting system. The components all fit with standard Lego and are small enough to do some really neat stuff. I decided to see how small you can go: Top left: World's smallest light and sound Police Truck. 4 x 12 studs with working headlights, flashing blue lights and siren! Top right: The on/off switch is accessible at the back. Bottom left: This is the layout of the components with the truck removed. Bottom right: Here are all the 9v components used. My Blue Turbo mod with working table lamps in the first class compartment. They are powered by a 9v battery box in the engine to the right. Here's one I posted earlier: Light + sounding the modern Fire Truck using just the bricks in that set plus the 9v components pictured. The 9v system is almost perfect, plus you can run streetlights and building lights off a 9v train controller! Bring back 9v Lego! These photos were originally taken in response to a request by Casewindu for some lighting examples. Sorry they took so long to post!

    Uplink Upgrade

I forgot to mention above that I also "borrowed" the code brick and shoulder joints from the Claw Crusher to finish off my Uplink Upgrade. That's four
  15. I have never been too happy with Uplink from the first batch Exo-Force sets. His leg articulation is not great and his arms always end up flopping all over the place. With the introduction of the new design for mini human mechs in Cyclone Defender and now Aero Booster, I thought Uplink needed redesigning along similar lines. I had to sacrifice two Uplinks and a Cyclone Defender, plus use a bunch of extra parts to get the effect I wanted. Here are the redesigned Uplink together with Cyclone Defender which I've tweaked a bit too. I tried to stay true to the Uplink design but add some extras - like armouring the back! I used the spare parts from my second Cyclone Defender to add rear armour to my first one. Strike a pose! I can't wait to get Aero Booster now to complete the set!
  16. Although everyone voted on this a couple of months ago this is the first time I've ventured down here to the Space Docking Bay, so I thought I'd share my feelings. A lot of people rave about the 924 which was the very first medium ship released. I'll admit that has a very cool cargo-loading system, and the way the design and colours match it's smaller and larger siblings is nice, but for me it lacks a little something in the looks department. I much prefer the look of it's immediate successor the 6929. I'm surprised that it didn't get more votes. It's by far and away the best design in both it's sleek looks and it's awesome cargo capacity. My younger brother had this one as a child and it was one of the most played-with sets in our household, both by him, and by me when he wasn't looking! X-D That's the one that gets my vote. I do have a soft spot for the UFO ship too, mainly because it's the only one of this bunch that I actually own. I keep wondering if I could turn the saucer parts into the bridge of a Starship Enterprise style MOC. Maybe one day I'll get around to it.
  17. I'm still here and have every intention of paying up. After getting my bank account verified by PayPal which took 5 working days, they now tell me it can take up to 9 working days to pay the money in! I paid it last week, so hopefully in just a few more days (I'm guessing just after Easter weekend, around 10th April) the money be there and I finally pay Jamie. :-| Thanks again all for your patience. Other than me, I think that makes 9 tickets still not paid for.
  18. I'm not an expert. I've got my knowledge from standing on Portsmouth seafront and watching how the Isle of Wight passenger hovercraft manouvres, but it's taught me a thing or two! Those are not air intakes but air BLOWERS. Because a hovercraft floats on a cushion of air it can travel in any direction you push it, like an air-hockey puck! The blowers can swivel to face any direction and then push air out so that the hovercraft can move sideways or even backwards (obviously they would power down or reverse the main engines at the back when they are doing this)! That's why ALL the wheels on this model swivel and why the blowers point away from the direction the craft is going in. A hovercraft can drift off in any direction, that's the beauty of them! Some people might not like it, but moving like a shopping cart is realistic. :-) That's also why the blowers on the pictures of the Canadian Coastguard hovercraft are pointing different ways. At top speed the blowers point backwards to give an extra push, whereas in the other picture they are positioned ready to push the craft back off the beach. Some hovercraft designs have different ways of achieving the same thing. The big cross-channel hovercraft had it's propellors on top of huge pylons which could turn to face different directions. I applaud Lego for this realistic attention to detail, but I have to say that they could have done a much better job on how the craft looks and those water cannons would just never work. They would blow it all over the place! Hope this helps!
  19. Hi HC, the time I get to spend online is quite random at the moment, so I only just spotted this. Very sweet work. Your moc building skills just get better and better. The medieval street scene just brings the buildings to life too. I have to agree with Mike F and say there's something not quite right about the colours on the second building. I think if you changed the red timbers to black it would look a lot more natural. I think you could make these houses in all sorts of colours as long as you keep the timbers black. On the whole though this is just excellent. Keep building! :-)
  20. Hi gang, I must have been asleep to not notice the appearance of this thread. I just checked my PayPal account and I don't quite have enough funds. Then I found out that I never got around to confirming my bank account!! :-| PayPal say this process will take 2-5 working days, so I'll pay in about... 2-5 working days! Which still falls well within the deadline, phew! Thanks for your patience all.
  21. Ah sorry, I didn't realise the Canadian Shop-at-Home didn't have the ones you were after. I think it may be because they've run out. You guys still have the Dump Truck and Forklift which have disappeared from UK Shop-at-Home, whereas we still have the Street Bike and Mobile Crane which are no longer available on the Canadian/US SaH. All those sets are 2 years old now so I suspect they're not being made any more. If you're lucky you might still be able to find some old stock at a local toy store.Whenever I've been over in Toronto (to visit my wife's family) I've found Toys Toys Toys in the Eaton Centre to be pretty good for Lego. Not sure how many Technic sets they have though. Also Toys-R-Us have a couple of places on Yonge & Eglington (2300 Yonge Street, M4P 1E4 ) and at the Dufferin Mall (900 Dufferin Street, M6H 4B1). If you have no joy there, then try something like ebay or Bricklink. Happy hunting!
  22. The official Lego Shop-at-Home online store ships to Canada, and has all the current Technic sets. Go to http://shop.lego.com and just below the menu bar at the top is a box where you can select your county. Canada is there. As for bricks and mortar stores, what province are you in? I know of a few stores in Toronto but that's as far as my knowledge goes. Canada is a big place!
  23. Great review Dill! It's a real beauty! X-D You managed to show a lot more detail on it in your pics than I did. I can't wait for the Aero Blaster too. I keep imagining what the Golden Guardian would look like with the Aero Blaster rockets on it's back! 8-
  24. I thought that too! Heh heh, sorry Phred, I'm going to use you as an example here, just in case my previous post wasn't crystal clear:legos, Legos, LEGOS is what you should use when you want to type as little as possible and BE CORRECT IN YOUR USE OF ENGLISH. lego's, Lego's, LEGO's is just WRONG WRONG WRONG. It doesn't matter if you come from the US, the UK, or any other country that uses English as its main language, the apostrophe is NEVER used on a plural. Tut. *sad*
  25. Looking through the information on Lego's Ebay Site it looks like only two were ever auctioned (although more may have been made) back in 2003. These models were glued together into easy to assemble modules. The first eventually sold for $860 USD and the second for
