  1. As much as I despise the rip off costs we get here in OZ, I doubt the Australian forum members would even make 0.0005% dent in retail profits/sales in Lego. As it stands, local retailers only lose only about 3% from online purchases made from other country’s, somehow I don’t think retailers will panic and drop prices on that statistic. Normal mum and dad buyers will buy from departments stores even at RRP prices, silly I know but it happens, those odd few times they might make purchases keeps the retail store profits up. Australia has always been a country of “high” prices for everything, not just Lego, lets all admit it, we just get scr*wed over because they can get away with it. The USA gets sales/specials, 50% off constantly along with Buy 1 Get 1 50% off each and every month. I actually like it that Australian retailers are continuing their high RRP (rip off) prices because some themes this year which haven’t been selling or flying of the shelves at Target, BigW or K-Mart have been discounted heavily by around the 50% off mark, the best ever discount Australians will ever see. Not even Lego.com.au offer too many 50% sale items anymore, and when they do it’s because they’ve already sold out of the set but they just tease us that we 'could' have had it at that price. And if I don’t purchase Lego sets on sale from Australian retailers, I just order them from overseas, my recent purchase this week was x3 HP 4842 Castle sets, shipped from the UK for a total of $110 Australian dollars each set ($179 RRP in OZ). That’s including shipping and fully boxed. Why would anyone Pay retail here? Anyways, enough ranting from me, I’ll continue to buy from overseas and only buy from retailers here when the sale price drops to the equivalent of USA pricing. Im sure almost everyone else here will agree with me on that one, “Keep on avoiding Australian RRP prices”
  2. Ow, why do you have to make me cry....... anyone know where I can get a counterfit Coles employee card?
  3. For those of you ever wishing a UCS Super Star Destroyer (like me), start saving now :-) http://www.fbtb.net/2011/04/12/10221-super-star-destroyer/
  4. I suspect the Imperial Flahship I saw was opened and re-sealed. The sides were tapped using ordinary sticky tape. Are properly sealed Lego sets sealed in this way? Hey JasonV, Lego seal their boxes two different ways, the smaller sets are always sealed with a tough glue, in order to stop those little fingers being able to 'easily' rip apart a box and steal the contents. The second way which is primarily for larger sets (like the Imperial Flagship) which is with a thick plastic seal. The seal is strong and sturdy, very good at holding a box closed, but sometimes these fail and stores resort to sealing them with normal tacky tap. Lego never use normal sticky tape though! The best indication usually if the box has been opened is if the side cardboard flaps would also have been broken/ripped as it's very evident that someone has opened the box fully. Doesn't mean that a hand hasn't gone in and taken out a few packets though. Either way, when I see normal large or small sticky tape used I stay away, Lego has to be very heavily discounted for me to take the gamble that all piece's/bags are still in the box, you never know, the manual may also be missing? Just to risky for my apatite. For a taped box, I'd rather want a great discount then the normal or prefer to wait for a decent sealed box!!! Hope some of what I've written has helped.
  5. Specials online from BigW, various sets City Fire Boat $41.24 City Fire Helicopter $29.33 City Fire Truck $41.24 City Repair Truck 3179 $11.18 Atlantis Set $32.28 Atlantis Set Exploration $40.63 Power Miners Lava Traz $47.18 'Keep on saving'
  6. I personally like to have the boxes sealed, mint and damage free........ just the high maintenance side of me coming out. Eventually some shall be opened but I like most of mine Sealed, those that will be opened and sacrificed to the brick gods I make sure to buy multiple sets of. 'Keep on boxing'
  7. Hey All, Target Elizabeth SA has x12 S4 boxes on the shelves, all full and with the 20% off they're $3.92 now. Also, the Star Wars Lego 8096 Emperors Shuttle is on clearance at $55 so with 20% off it's just under $44 dollars which for the figures alone is a great buy. Keep on Mini-figging
  8. Hey All, Not sure if anyone visits the online David Jones website (I didn't even know it excisted) but if you want a bargain in the City Police Boat range then continue reading on......... http://www2.davidjones.com.au/shop-online/product-details.jsp?productID=105137&category=2770316 7287 City Police Boat now at $23.96 down from $29.99 because of the 20% OFF currently (Lego.com.au RRP is $49.99!!) I just ordered x3 because David Jones charges $12 or $13 dollars postage so I figured I should make use of the postage fee and make it worth my while, still, each set comes out to be $29.29, better then any % OFF sale and obviously an incorrect price entered in by David Jones staff...... Thankyou David Jones. Every other set appears to be normal RRP prices apart from the Police Boat.
  9. Wow, Just had some amazing reading with plenty of posts since I visited last. Without joining sides (maybe), I would like to say that selling Lego Series 4 x16 sets at $95 is very very rich. If I do my maths correctly, $4.99 RRP x16 = $79.84 and that's at Australian Retail level, still cheaper then $95. As someone else mentioned you won't be getting any takers from these forums because we all seem to help each other out and we all know that a complete box can be purchased for a little more then the x1 set your offloading. Unless you were offering it up much cheaper on these forums then Evil-bay is where it should be going, but I doubt $95 is what you'll get even there! Those Hong Kong sellers are down to $80 now with free shipping and I've even seen an Australian S4 set sell for as low as $75. Anyways, im sure for anyone who's taken anything personally or been offended than you'll move on and forget the previous conversations, after all, we are all here to concentrate on Lego sales and up and coming deals !!!!! Sharing is caring, "Keep on hugging"
  10. Hey Ang911, Good luck getting the Green Grocer from Fishpond, I too am one of those 'previous' customers which thought they had some great deals, only to find out when then did ship the Lego boxes came wrapped in brown paper so the box was smashed up when it arrived or my orders were simply cancelled at their convenience after 1 month of waiting and having paid. Hope they come through for you......... May the Force bring you bricks. Quote: Keep on "Fishponding"
  11. Hey All, "Catch of the Day" are running x3 Lego sale items at the moment (link below) http://www.catchoftheday.com.au/smallfish_info.php?products_id=26142 Option A: Atlantis Exploration HQ - RRP $79.99, today just $39.99! Option B: Atlantis Portal of Atlantis - RRP $159.99, today just $79.99! Option C: Star Wars Slave I - RRP $149.99, today just $69.99! 'Keep on Saving' (Who's catching on to my vibe?)
  12. Hello, Not sure if this is applicable Australia wide, but it seems that K-Mart have dropped the price on the Star Wars Wampa 8089 set. Was $59 on clearance, NOW $39.00 So if you have seen any at a near by store, it may be worth scanning the box to see if you too can grab a great buy at $39 dollars.
  13. Seems to me that Lego have thousands of these sets in the warehouse, this is the third time it's been offered at 50% off through three different companies. Perhaps Lego.com could learn that setting a ridiculous $249 Australian RRP isn't such a good selling price when you could order the CTT from the US delivered for $92 Australian. For those who don't have the CTT, I doubt the price is going to get any cheaper then $120. It may also be on it's way out, which means those E-Bay sellers will be charging high premiums for the set, they're probably buying them from Catch of the Day right now.
  14. So how come no one's mentioned the Toys'R'Us catalogue? Yet alone started Salivating over the Public Transport price............. Lego City Police Boat $39.99 Lego City Police Helicopter $47.99 Lego City Police Station $99.99 Lego City Public Transport $109.99 Lego Toys Story Woodys Round Up $59.99 (Crappy Discount)
  15. The tag on my delivery a few days ago says it's shipped via some "Brokers International" company. Definately not UPS or DHL, since it comes to Australia via regualr Aust Post delivery mail.
  16. The 30% off coupon N7K9R7V has stopped working on B&N website, seems like B&N have stop accepting it. Hopefully a new code will come out which will work on Lego sets but at this stage your all out of luck if you want the 30% off.
  17. Hey distortme, Did you use happen to use the coupon which gives a $30 dollar discount on the Venator set also? I read that there's a current coupon that reduces the price down from $99.95 to $69.95 +$7.95 shipping, but im not sure if it still works. I'll give it a try tonight.....
  18. That is extremely disappointing of B&N, even though you cancelled your order, your still not able to use the 30% coupon. Chearly a cancelled order should mean everything is cancelled, including the coupon code. That's crap, shame on B&N!
  19. If your prepaired to wait 8 weeks with fishpond then that's fine. I've ordered from them 3 times, 2 orders arrived 8 weeks later and the 3rd order was cancelled because they felt like it.
  20. Just got an E-Mail from "Catch of the Day" for a great deal.......... For those who want a cheap Lego Star Wars Venator Attack Cruiser 8039 for $99.95. Here's the link http://www.catchoftheday.com.au/smallfish_info.php?products_id=22302
  21. Yep, it's frustrating that they're not allowing any orders to be cancelled..... but now this new E-Mail from B&N is certainly laughable! "placed in a security review", perhaps they're providing protection for the President with coupons!!!!! Just cancel the orders and be done with it, it would save them alot of time and give us the flexibility to re-order the items. The most annoying fact is they're holding our funds so I won't be re-ordering anything until that's credited back!!!!
  22. Im still leaving it for a few days, but from what I've been reading online from other US buyers that used 3 coupons in 1 transaction, it appears that they're getting their orders cancelled...... so it's not looking good....... They are honouring the 1 coupon per transaction though
  23. Im praying your right, im going to leave it for a while and hope it's the case. Before I make those dreaded calls to B&N
  24. If you haven't printed the groupons you still have the option of cancelling the transaction and getting your money back. The status changed to the "call customer service" only now around 9pm, as of 4pm when I placed my order it was all good so between now and then I think B&N have caught on to everyone using the x3 coupons in one transaction. No E-Mails from B&N and no credits back on the CC
