Why were cannons in the USA non-shooting?
Jack Bricker replied to Jack Bricker's topic in LEGO Pirates
Hey, no sense in being rude. If you don't like the topic don't post. I was just asking because I thought somebody might know why. -
I was wondering the same thing. I live in Seattle WA and I don't know if anybody does that game in my area. I don't have a lot of money to travel with so I was just asking. I do know that the NW Brickcon is held here but I don't know if they hold those games or not.

Yeah seriously. I would like to get about 5 with one staying MISB but I don't know if I will be able to afford that . I am also trying to build up an imperial army while Lego is still producing them. I know that I will be getting at least 1 more around June for my birthday.

Steaming hot water hurts bricks?
Jack Bricker replied to Jack Bricker's topic in General LEGO Discussion
The reason I was asking was that there was a Skull Eyes Schooner on ebay that had been washed in steaming hot water. I was very hesitant to buy it because I had heard that hot water can damage the parts and I then decided to bring it up on the forum. Thank you for your inputs. I decided to buy two imperial flagships instead and I am very happy with them. -
I just got two of them!. There is a Lego store that is located really close to where I live so I was just able to go in a pick up two of them. It is so awsome. It completly dwarfes my Skull Eyes Schooner and Brickbeards Bounty. What can I say. It is a happy day for my imperial guards and a very sad day for my pirates with their smaller ships. I am trying to decide whether I should keep my second imperial flagship mint in the box or if I should build it and start a small fleet. Decisions, decisions.

I have heard that if you wash your bricks in steaming hot water that it will cause them to lose their clutch power. Is that true?

Guide to the Pirate Mini-Figures - Part III - The Imperial Guards
Jack Bricker replied to TalonCard's topic in LEGO Pirates
I have not been able to access your guide. I have the lates version of Adobe and I would really like to see your guide on the imperial guards since I like the red coats the best. Could somebody please tell me how I could get this guide or I am not able to get it. Thanks. -
I Don't know if this has been done but I just got the idea of using the Indiana jones bag with the blue minifigures to create a soldier from the Continential Army of the United States.

Why were cannons in the USA non-shooting?
Jack Bricker replied to Jack Bricker's topic in LEGO Pirates
Yeah, that is what I had in mind. If you could connect the moter to a receiver and then fire the cannons remotely. It wouldn't be realistic but it would be cool. -
I love that head. It would go great with my collection. Just Kidding. That would make a great sea admiral head or an older relative to captain brickbeard.
-
I would like to see a good quality Lego model of the Black Pearl and perhaps the Interceptor or the Dauntless but other than that I really don't want POTC. I am beginning to like the old classic Pirate line more and more just because there is so much more you can do with it.

Hey I am just wondering if the printer clothe idea worked. I am just curious because I am going to have some restoration projects coming up for me as well and I would like to know if it worked out for you.

I totally know what you are talking about. It seems to me that when they were making the older sets they got more creative with their color schemes. Like in color theory you can grey out colors by putting grey next to the color you want to desaturate. A good example is some of the imperial forts where they used grey for the flooring instead of the brown. The grey desaturated the yellow. As for the flags I hate the new pirate design. It is the silliest jolly roger I have ever seen. P.S. No pun intended.

I really like the look of the new castle and I am very excited about finally having a great helm. I love those helmets and I just can't wait to have one. I also like the dragon tower. I agree with a lot of other members that the theme seems resemble the dragon knights against royal knights which was my favorite castle them of all time. I am also excited about the design of the castle which seem to be very remenisant of the Kings Castle set from the 80s.

I don't see why anybody has to complain about the new sets. I don't really care about the old sets except for the Black Knights and the Dragon Knights. I also don't care for any of the knights kingdom kits or the Fantasy skeleton or troll sets. But I did like the Kings Castle Siege. Everybody's tastes are individual. I would hate it if Lego came out with Knights Kingdom again but I was willing to put up the the uninteresting (to me) troll sets for two years. I wish everybody would stop complaining about every little flaw with a kids toy. If you don't like something then change it. That is what Lego is all about. I don't like the royal knights theme for my royal knights castle so I am going to change it to a black knights theme. I also don't care for the crusader them for my kings mountain fortress so I am going to change it to a templar mountain fortress. So please stop complaining. If you don't like a particular them or modern faction from one of the newer sets than change it to be like an older faction set. If you don't like it that your castle doesn't have a gatehouse than get creative and build a gate house for it. Lego is making these sets as Toys for Children that can be customized to suit particular tastes. Why do we have to get all negative and bash Lego for every New theme they come out with.

I don't know if this has been mentioned before but you can get a special type of cloth for your printer. You just stick it in your printer and your printer will print out whatever design you want. Now I know there are some SES sail scans on this website. You might want to try that. I have some of that cloth and it cost about $10 and it feels very similer to the cloth Lego uses for its ships. Again you might want to try that before you spend $50. P.S. the pictures of that ship when it is dirty just make me sick.

Why does everybody say the BSB is more realistic. It can't be because of design because the ship looks like a cross between a brig and a spanish gallen because of the way the captains cabin and rear deck are situated. The color scheme is also not much better. You have a base brown and then a patch of white along the gun deck and then you have solid black with bright yellow triming. It looks so ugly the way the black clashes with the yellow and the white. Now granted the SES has some serious color scheme problems too but to say the the BSB is more realistic than the SES is a little too much.

Why were cannons in the USA non-shooting?
Jack Bricker replied to Jack Bricker's topic in LEGO Pirates
Although I sort of see your point I would like to point out also that particular part of the MOC is usually covered up by the upper deck . I think that it could be done and that it would be really cool to have working lights and cannons on an MOC. When you start getting worried about the ship not looking detailed in parts that are covered up by the hull, upper deck, etc... I think that you should remember that ship is still a Lego ship not one of those wooden model ships with the plank on frame build. Besides I think it would be a lot of fun to figure out how to do it. -
Why were cannons in the USA non-shooting?
Jack Bricker replied to Jack Bricker's topic in LEGO Pirates
I am asking because I have aways admired mechanical things that work. I wanted to have pirate battles when I was a kid and I wanted the guns to actually work. I was always so curious about why Lego did not have those cannons in the US and so I am asking. As for the non-shooting ones. I hate the emblem on the top of the gun as it looks sooooo silly and all it does is sit there. Now here is an idea why doesn't anybody try to figure out how to have them fire altogether in ship MOCs. You got the computer bricks and the technic bricks to make it work. Why doesn't anybody try that. -
Now taking YOUR ideas for NEW PARTS - LAST DAYS!
Jack Bricker replied to Bonaparte's topic in LEGO Pirates
A proper more realistic stern for their ships would be nice because using the same bow pieces for the stern really bugs me. -
I know that this has probably been asked a thousand times and answered a thousand times in return but why did Lego stop shipping sets with shooting cannons to the US. It doesn't make any sense. They are not much more expensive to produce so their is no obviouse financial reason why they would do that. I do not believe there were any export issues involved with toy spring powered shooting cannons from Lego. So why was it done? If anybody knows would you please post a comment. I searched all over this forum and I haven't found a reason why Lego did this.

Well I would save the SES and cherish it forever. I think the BSB is ugly. Not as ugly as the RBR but ugly none the less. Just my opinoin though
-
I was going to vote for the 1989 pirates line until I remembered the Emperial Flagship coming out next year . I have never liked schooners or two-masted sailing ships for some odd reason and therefore I never liked the BSB when I was a kid. The SES was a full pirate galleon and that was my favorite set although I didn't get it until I was 13. The 2009 minifigures are light years or at least 20 years ahead of the 1989 figures and I have never really liked the blue coats because Red Coats rule.

Thanks for the review. I can't wait to get it come january. I was really wanting to see the interior of the captains cabin and you provided some really nice pictures of it.

I you sure he wasn't just talking about some of the sets that they just discontinued. As I said before I have a difficult time believing that the Indy line is done. There is so much potential left in that series and I would also think that Lego would have perhapes made an official announcement to us, like they did with the pirate line recently, if they were going to cancel it. I also think that it is a wee bit too early to say they are going to cancel it for sure considering they just came out with some new sets for the Indy line a few months ago.
