Community Build: Torture Chamber
Jack Bricker replied to Emperor Claudius Rome's topic in Pirate MOCs
I would just reduce the area space, get rid of the windows, and put a little of your own texturing on the walls and it would look really great. One thing it is missing is there is really not anything funny going on like a rat chasing a soldier or something. Adding a little clever humor (really hard in a torture room) would really add to your creation. I do have to say though that I really like the amound of detail that you put into the figures and torturing devices. Keep up the good work. -
I was just thinking that you should add a pirate treasure cave or prison for the soldiers build into your rockery there. That would look really cool.

I just had to say that looking at this ship and some of the others has really inspired me to build my own frigate. Great ship and good luck with the rest of the build.
-
You did an absolutly terrific job in my opinion. I like the color scheme and the shape of the hull. I was really interested how you were able to fit a captains cabin in the stern without adding in midsections. Again, thats a great pirate ship you built there.

Build a frigate with Captain Green Hair
Jack Bricker replied to Captain Green Hair's topic in Pirate MOCs
I have decided to start buying pieces in order to build a frigate. I am wondering though if you extend the ship too long without widening it it would look kind of weird. I will be buying most of my parts that I will use as I do not have a very big collection. I was also wondering how brown 1x4 tile looks for planking. I got a ton of it free from the Lego store and I would like to use it for the planking on the deck and railing. I was also wondering the cost of building a frigate from scratch? -
Community Build: Dark Seedy Riverside Alley

Really nice MOC. I like the color scheme and the theme that you have for it. It has a lot of character and personality in it and I really enjoyed looking at the pictures. -
After your last experience I would pay for the best quality shipping you can afford and choke up the cost. You don't want to have your wonderful :pir-skull: Aust post :pir-skull: go on strike again just when your shipment of 10 ships arrives and wait as they develop mold in the sails and the bricks expand and warp in the sun and your box becomes rament etc...

I would do a little collecting before you decide to build an expensive MOC. Now is the perfect time to collect since you can still get some of the 2009 sets for good prices and the Imperial Flagship just came out which is the best ship Lego has ever built. Then if the hobby sticks and you really like it you can build a MOC. If you start to build a MOC too early and decide you don't want to anymore you will invest a lot of money and have no way of getting it back. But, if you collect for a while and then decide that you don't want to do Lego anymore your sets will only hold and increase in value and you won't lose any money. Just a thought. Good luck building a good MOC and welcome to the Legoribbean.

I have to say I really liked this ship. This was my first Lego ship and I will always like it. The color scheme just works and I really like the sails. Great set and great review. 5/5

It isn't my favorite set due to the color scheme. It is just too bright and colorful to be realistic to me. That being said it is just a toy and the color scheme is leaps and bounds ahead of the RBR so I will give it a 4/5. Nice review and thanks for all of the nice pictures.

I voted average. The color scheme is okay but, I don't like the fact that it is the only fort for the armada faction. That faction was so small and I would have liked to see something a little more interesting besides just this set. That being said it is a good set for its size and it does have some nice pieces so a 3/5 I think is fair.

Master eBay Auctions thread - post noteworthy auctions here

Is that Pirate usb a custom or was that actually manufactured? -
Wow, I didn't know that Lego made 1:3 tiles at all. That is so cool. Now if they could only make them in dark red, dark blue, reddish brown, dark brown, tan, yellow, and black and we would be set.

I think that we will see new ships anyways. I was just hoping that we would get a reissue of the SES because it is so rare and expensive. I recently saw a MISB one sell for over a $1,000 on bricklink. That is way out of my budget and I would like to get a MISB one. I wouldn't mind Lego reissuing some of the other great sets they have made but they have already reissued the BSB and the awful RBR so a reissue of the SES would be especially nice.

They should still be 1:1 scan. I took the original files that had not been resized and uploaded them again onto brickshelf so, they are still the same size. Enjoy.

Community Build: Torture Chamber
Jack Bricker replied to Emperor Claudius Rome's topic in Pirate MOCs
I really like it except it is a little empty. I am thinking though that when you decrease the size of it to 16x16 I think it won't look to empty. I would also get rid of the windows. Other than those two things I think it's great. I really like how the guards are smiling while they do all of the torchering and I like the pirate getting spanked with the paddle. Great MOC. -
As has been said to me I don't know if you can base the popularity of a line just on one store. The pirates line is the only line that has been completly sold out everywhere in my area and I am seeing lots of the older star wars sets still on the shelves so I doubt the credibilty of the Lego store guy you were talking too. Also Lego just came out with a huge Imperial Flagship that is flying off of the shelves. They would come out with a set like that if the line wasn't selling well. As for the Indiana Jones sets the big temple of doom set is still backordered here in the US if I am correct so I wouldn't just jump and say that the line is over just because some Lego store clerk says they aren't sell well in that particular store.

I have to admit that when I fist saw this castle I wasn't impressed. I guess you could say that I had gotten spoiled with the new castles and I had also had the Royal Knights Castle as a kid so I thought this was kind of a small insignificant piece. Well, your review has totally changed my mind. I am liking it more and more. The stairs in the back are really cool and I like the minifigures. Yeah, they are not as varied but, you could always fix that and I like the amount of figures that you get. I only wish it came with a king. As for your instructions "These are 25 years old, so forgive their condition." they are ancient scrolls that reveal the secret blueprints on how to build a treasure. Overall, it is a great set and you did a wonderful review of it. Thanks for the review and the great pictures.

I think that they will come out with more fantasy themes. I would love to see some more dragons. The last ones were good but they weren't knarly enough for me. I would love for them to also come out with another vikings them with a ship that doesn't fall apart. A better sea serpant with a better viking ship would be really cool.

I think that bridge looks a little dangerous. I mean there is a skeleton there. Did the skeleton guy die the last time the bride got blown up. Nice MOC and I like the ending too.
-
Really nice ship. I like how you did the interior and I like the use of the black and white sails.
-
You did a really nice MOC. I like the monkey with the hat and the cannon ball bouncing off of the boat. I also like how you didn't make you water and land texture smooth. The studs on the water give it a really nice texture. A lot of people have been making their deck, land, and water surfaces too smooth and it doesn't look like Lego anymore when they do that. Really nice MOC.

SlyOwl +3 You did an apsolutly fabulous job. I really liked the techniques you used to get texture on the buildings and there was so much going on at once. The flag was really well done and the shark chasing the guy in the crate was great too. Again, fabulous job.

Thanks. I was going to change them to 800/600 px so I then deleted them off of the brickshelf folder. But I have reloaded them. I just wanted to let everybody know so that there is no confusion if you click on it and it says :pir-skull: "folder not yet public" :pir-skull: . Don't worry they are there they may just have to be moderated by brickshelf.com again.

Yeah, I would like an imperial trading post that has been updated with the new colors. That would be awsome. Maby someday Lego will do it. A skull Eyes Schooner with an updated color-scheme would be really cool.
