  1. I despise tinted doors a windows. Tinted black/brownish is ok... but blue or green? Barf.
  2. For my MOCs, I like to build modular city buildings. This is my strategy: First, buy two of every modular building (one for display, and one for my brick collection). Second, buy one of each Creator house to add to my brick collection (I find that the Creator homes are a great source of bricks, but I don't find them worthy of keeping on display). Third, start branching out into other themes that you think have useful parts (I think the winter village sets are great). Fourth, if you are lucky enough to have a LEGO store nearby, then you can visit periodically to load up on pick-a-brick parts. Last, to pick up those odd pieces you need to finish a particular project, use Brick-Link. LEGO is an expensive hobby when you are starting from scratch, because you need to buy lots of sets to build up your personal brick inventory. However, as your collection gets bigger, you won't need to buy as many sets out of necessity (you'll just buy them because they are awesome!).
  3. Nice. How about some fishing action or a campfire?
  4. I'll be stealing your technique on the first building (the 1x1 slopes pointing upward in those vertical lines)! Very nice.
  5. It's beautiful! I love the interior. The only area I would tweak is the front of the building where the 1st and 2nd floors meet. It suffers from flat facade syndrome in that spot. Fantastic build. I hope there are more to come!
  6. I've been itching to use that crate method you used on the front sides of the building. I really like that.
  7. The dark green looks fantastic on a 16 stud modular. I think it's the first I've seen! Very nice work. The bright green door was a risky choice, but I like it quite a bit (black would look great also, but bright green adds character!).
  8. Haha! That makes my day. Nothing like perusing some hyper-detailed modulars and then stumbling upon a giant pig-mobile. Excellent.
  9. I agree that this has been my favorite review on EB. Excellent job. I always wanted this set when I was a kid. Seeing someone unbox and review it is really special. Thank you!
  10. Dang. I thought LEGO was an already moderately expensive hobby while living in the States. Now it's legit expensive. Almost prohibitively so. I'm definitely filling my bag with bricks the next time I visit North Dakota. I never realized how good I had it.
  11. I moved to Taiwan last month and had to leave all my LEGOs behind . I found the Pet Shop at a Toys R Us, but it cost $6000NT ($200 USD). That big Harry Potter set with the three buildings is $7000NT! I've checked the LEGO website to see if I can order sets from the USA region and have them shipped to Taiwan, but it doesn't seem possible. And because I can't read Mandarin, I can't check the Asian region on the LEGO website. I'd rather not pay the 25% or greater markup by buying them at the local Toys R Us... but I may not have any other choice. Does anybody have any suggestions? Does anybody else live in Taiwan?
  12. That really is fantastic. The sheer scale of the building is impressive. I don't think I would try and tackle a project that is 64 studs wide. Very intimidating! I can't decide if I like it better than your theatre/diner combo though. The theatre/diner is just so unique!
  13. I think it helps to have a border made of a more neutral color when building with a color that stands out as much as yellow. The exterior is very bold. I like it. However, the interior clearly steals the show in my opinion. Show us a pic of the toilet! Very well done.
  14. Hello everybody. I've been a lurker for awhile, but never posted until a few days ago. You can find my Red and Tan modular house in the city forum. I have a pretty nomadic lifestyle so I rarely get a chance to access my entire LEGO collection and do any serious building. I've moved three times in the past 2 and a half years and I do a lot of world traveling. I was just getting settled back in my hometown in North Dakota, USA, but I'm leaving again in just a couple weeks. I'm moving to Taiwan in January and won't be able to bring my LEGOs :( I might try and build another modular quick before I put everything back into storage. I just need to make the time for it! Special shout-out and thanks to Vincent Kessels, Blue Bard, and lightningtiger for their constant inspirations!
  15. I'll do that! Your Brown Brick House has been very inspiring for me. It has been one of my favorite 32x16 modular buildings that I have seen. In fact, I recreated it when I first downloaded LDD for practice a couple years ago :)
  16. Thanks everyone! The dark red is one of my favorite colors that LEGO makes, but I barely had enough pieces to finish just one floor, thus the switch to tan.
  17. Hello all. This is my first attempt at a modular MOC. I'm pretty proud of it! The interior isn't bare, but it leaves much to be desired. Comments welcome! Check out more photos here. http://www.flickr.com/photos/71885675@N03/sets/72157628375360629/with/6493863655/
