  1. Wow,that was sudden, and so early! Not that I complain. The sets look pretty good. The trans colour+metallic colour(s) combination really pays off I think. The sets are mostly well designed, though I'm still not sure if I like the bones and the trans orange pieces. Otherwise, very creepy looking, and Ekimu looks quite regal. But most importantly, I look at these sets and their box art and, despite the new building system, I think "Yup, these are Bionicle sets". And despite them not being flawless, that's what counts. Bionicle is back, and that's great. I'll probably add some more in-depth thought later.
  2. At the very least, I'd like to see the piston piece in black and titanium metallic. Rust does actually sound like a cool idea. I'd like to see something like the 2005 Vikings helmets (that battered metal effect), but it seems that Lego has long distanced itself from that type of stuff. Probably too expensive to produce.
  3. For BIONICLE: more trans purple, more large sets akin to Darth Vader and Greivous, Makuta, Mask of Control (preferably in at least two colours), possibly a seventh Toa unless they save that for 2017. Upgraded Toa that don't look like veiny mutants. For SW: more large sets, Yoda (for the olive green or sand green), otherwise I don't know. I'd take colourful sets with some out of place metallic bits over completely silver and lifeless figures any day.
  4. Does anyone know Ronin's hair colour? I want to give his minifig a hairpiece like in the game. It looks Dark Orange to me, but his beard looks darker in the set..
  5. I certainly wouldn't mind some dinosaurs, I would say that was for me one of BIONICLE G1's main missed opportunities when it ended (that, and the Element Lords..). Just as long as that doesn't compromise a cast of actual, distinct villains. The idea of Barraki-like villains is good, but they would need to be very humanoid for that to work, which would limit their design. Can you imagine a regular four legged brachiosaur as a villain, let alone an actual sentient character with a personality? We might probably live with it, but it wouldn't work for kids. I say, make a few of them as large.."Rahi".. sets, perhaps with a rider+steed play feature (for example, *sigh* Tahu riding a *sigh* T-rex, a villain riding another dinosaur, etc..) and have the real villains be something else. No limits for creativity this way.
  6. These are pretty spot on except a few things. Jaime's hair should be shorter and close to gold-ish like Cersei's. Tywin's hair should be tan to match the very light blond hair he has in the show, and he looks too angry (Tywin should look almost emotionless).
  7. Sad to say but I think they killed the line with these Fire Armour designs. The red clothing makes them less versatile and looks bad on most of the figures. People just wanted wartime Fabuland, not this.
  8. What I've been wondering is how the 2016 Toa are going to be distributed in terms of price points. This year we got 3 Toa as mid size sets and 3 as larger ones- Tahu and Kopaka, due to their popularity, and Onua, who required the extra budget point for his massive body. HF did the same thing in 2012 and flipped the situation in 2013, with Heroes who got small sets in 2012 getting larger sets in 2013 and viceversa (see Surge vs Breez). It might be different with the Toa though, as their number is smaller. I'm sure Tahu would be one of the bigger sets, but Kopaka has a decent shot at it too (white sets have always been among the top 3 in popularity). Onua, however, might be cut out and made into a still fairly bulky, but more simplistic 15 Euro figure, while one of this year's cheaper Toa gets the third "big set" slot. Pohatu seems unlikely so I'm betting on one of the other two- Lewa with wings, for example, would be pretty cool I think. As for their look, if they want to attempt a Toa Nuva homage I think we're going to see some bulkier, more armoured figures. The use of the new Star Wars rounded shoulder pads is something I'd especially like to see. I can see a new chest armour piece coming, though I know I'd miss the "tribal chest decorations" of the 2015 Toa. As for the silver, the Toa Nuva came during a time which Lego didn't find the perfect gold shade for their pieces yet. Now they did, they use it everywhere (the hugely popular Ninjago being a huge offender...affectionately speaking) and kids love it. If before 2015 (...or rather, before July 2014) you told me that Kopaka would've been remade with gold armour I would've probably laughed, but they know that gold sells so I doubt that they're going to stop using it now. In other words, I don't see the 2016 Toa being as silver-heavy as the 2002 Toa Nuva were. And yes, as I said before I'm sure we're going to stay with Tahu and co. for the whole planned story arc. They are the "original team" people know the best and many are especially fond of. Also, all of Lego's recent story based IPs have revolved around a single unchanging (save for a few late additions) core team of heroes- see Ninjago, Chima, Ultra Agents, etc.
  9. Are those 2L axle rods on Wu's dragon's wings.... BLACK? That's a really nice surprise. Also, those flame pieces in gold do look very pretty. Great figs too (Ronin is still my favourite though).
  10. Yeah, dunno how I was the only one to notice it. He looks gigantic and glorious. So does dat Vader in the background. I can't believe we're finally getting something so juicy (the Toa and the Skulls are awesome, but they're still mid size sets).
  11. To be honest, I wasn't very fond of the prototypes shown in these videos, I like the concept art we got during Comic-con more. Sure, they were a bit too organic, and I don't want to see Inika-like masks again, but I liked the idea of the masks having glowing/transparent things (like Gali's hair/tentacles and Tahu's flames/crystals). And Tahu's mask looked like a proper upgraded and updated Hau, looking better than the 2002 Hau Nuva mask (I don't truly like any Kanohi Nuva and I hate most of them) and..whatever the 2008 mask was supposed to be.
  12. I always liked that side of him. Mask Maker Makuta is great and it's a pretty fresh idea (though G1 Makuta did have some traces of mask making skills on his own), but I hope G2 Makuta gets to show the darkest parts of his imagination in some way or another. The idea of him rebuilding/modfifying the Skull villains is awesome and creepy. I think this is the case, even the only parts that might link them together, their skull-like faces, are hinted to actually be masks (which might have powers on their own).
  13. Titanium metallic was my initial assumption, but then I thought it'd make more sense for it to be black to match his feet (speaking of which, titanium metallic Beast feet would rock). Looking at his movie appearance, though, his torso is closer to grey, and I believe his minifig uses dark bley. As for non-humanoids, droidekas are all I can currently think of as far as SW goes (BIONICLE is obviously more flexible about that), and I would be mainly interested in their build (I don't need brown, really). Currently, however, I'm more interested in certain humanoids (like Boba, Yoda, the Magna Guards, Darth Maul, the TWA Sith).
  14. And, there's this pic too. Looks like Darth Vader, while not a giant like GG, is pretty big too, Stormer XL height at least. And speaking of Grievous, it seems we (or at least I) have been tricked like with Scorpio's legs. Grievous's skeleton torso shell is, like I originally thought, not black but titanium metallic instead. It's pretty obvious in the pic I posted: the shell looks shinier and brighter than the black parts (like the bones and the feet), in fact it looks closer to the Skull Spider legs used for his toes. Personally, like with Scorpio's legs, I actually find titanium metallic to be more useful for my projects. Anyway, I agree with you guys above me. That's why I really like Grievous and Vader: the lack of constraction figures with a truly satisfying size AND build was something I really felt during 2013-2014. Each large set during that time failed to capture my interest for one reason or another. These two, however, are finally attempting to do something unique in terms of (humanoid) builds, and without an excessive use of Technic. I bought the past Ultrabuild sets mostly (90%) for the parts, but for once I am truly eager to buy a Ultrabuild to enjoy its building process and learn new MOCing techniques from the model. I'm hoping BIONICLE 2016 brings us something like this, with figures like Makuta or other characters. Grinder looks pretty imposing, but he isn't taller than Tahu. With some modifications, both GG's and DV's frames (especially their torsos) could be reused for some very impressive BIONICLE titans (not necessarily saying the official sets should copy them, but I find them useful for MOCing at the very least). Still, the fact they're actualy giving us bigger and more complex builds is a good sign. Indeed I wish these came out in June, I liked getting the Chima sets around that time so at least I could have something to tinker with until August. I guess I can buy some pieces I need in the meanwhile.
  15. Huh, looks like you're right after all- the colours on my phone are even worse than I thought. Well, I'd say titanium metallic is a lot better for weapons, spikes and the like (in fact, I'm already thinking of a few uses for those). Black might be a neutral colour, but it's not very good for additional armour (like Tahu's gold) and for weapons- silver and titanium metallic are much better for those purposes, IMHO. Actually, the round shoulder pads from Breakout (if those are what you're referring to) are coming back with Darth Vader, along the more square add-ons (the so called "Captain America boots" reused by sets like Core Hunter). Ninja'd by Aanchir, should've refreshed the page before posting. Since the new shoulder pads are of similar size, I wonder if the real reason they decided to reuse such "old" parts was for budget reasons (since the Breakout shoulder armour already existed in titanium metallic, whereas white, silver and orange were missing). It's not that farfetched I think.Overall, I think the SW pads are going to be used more - since they're so plain, I think that we're going to see them printed or stickered on the new sets, following the idea behind Kopaka's leg armour decorations.
  16. I was confused about their colour for the longest time, but I think they're black. The plastic used for them is pretty shiny, and titanium metallic is very very dark, so it's easy to mix up the two colours. I myself thought for a while that Grievous's torso shell was titanium metallic (which wouldn't make much sense, as much as I'd like it). The colours are that close. Those two colours would've been cool, but the 4 Skull villains use metallic colours for their masks, so either of them would've broken the scheme. If anything, I agree with those who said a titanium metallic mask would've worked wonders- it's a bit annoying that Warrior is the only one to use a titanium metallic mask (and a silver chest, but that's beside the point). And completely unrelated, but since I wanted to post these for a while- am I the only one who.. 1)..is curious to see how the silver torso bones would work on the Toa? 2)..thinks that the 2016 Toa might use the new Star Wars shoulder pads? Those remind me of the Nuva shoulder pads so much I wonder if it's just a coincidence.
  17. I'm most likely skipping Scorpio since I'm only interested in his tr. lime pieces, the black spikes and the special Kaka.. Mask of Stone (but seriously, I still feel like calling them with their G1 names). Not enough parts to justify a purchase for me, not at full price at least. The others are a definite buy for me, and I'm very tempted to buy doubles of the 3 mid size sets at the very least, I need their pieces for my own villains. But I want some SW sets too (Darth Vader and Grievous for sure) so I can't spend all my budget on the BIONICLE sets.
  18. 90 dollars (hoping they don't shoot MM vs SG to 35 Euro!), and I believe 140 dollars for the SW sets.
  19. Bit late to it, but I REALLY want the Ronin minifig now. There's something about his face that I really like- plus it's refreshing to see a relatively normal looking guy as the villain rather than the usual zombies, demons, evil wizards, snakes and whatnot. I assume the hairpiece isn't included in the set though, is it?
  20. I'll try to get it. It's not that there are many sets I want to buy this Summer anyway. *nervous laughter* Anywyay, looks very cool. A very nice throwback to Gali Mata's mask for sure. I wonder if this is the exclusive book mask or there's going to be another one.
  21. http://www.aliexpres...2321935952.html There's this gem too. Still, these don't seem to have exclusive recolours (not that I would buy them, but those white 4M shells were pretty intruguing until Cody and Obi Wan introduced them officially).
  22. That was medium azure, Gali uses dark azure.
  23. It's completely new to constraction, yes. Pretty rare for System too- it was mostly used for the Alien Conquest line.
  24. That's pretty bad, but that torso.. oh how I wish they used the Breakout shell again. I see 4M shells too (and 5M, but the the 6M are close enough anyway). I'd like that cape too, but I fear it'd be of low quality.
  25. I hope it's not 100% The Force Awakens, though. I definitely want to see the Sith and the new lightsaber (if they made a special hilt piece it'd be excellent for Bionicle swords too!), but I'd like to see something from the Old Trilogy too, like Yoda and/or Boba (the sand green! The sand green!) and C-3PO (for new gold shells). I know you know it's discontinued, but you do bring up a good point. We used to have a bunch of awesome metallic colours like blue, green or copper, but it's all silver/gunmetal/gold these days. It's good that they simplified the palette a bit, but these are actually colours that are missing. It could be even worse than that, they can still have the gall to add 5 Euro to each set, with Grievous reaching the 40 Euro point. I sure as heck hope this doesn't happen and I do think they'd shoot themselves in the foot if they did it, but it's not they haven't done stuff like this in the past- there's a System set this year that went from 40 dollars to 50 Euro in Europe! If there are any, I bet that they're like the Chima ones from 2014- powered up versions of the characters. I'm not sure how they're going to work Grievous in though, with how simple combo models are getting these days
