  1. Press copies... figured they were okay to talk about now if they're being sold at SDCC (and apparently LEGOLAND California). The running theme among this crop of sets appears to be kitchens, by the way. (Which makes sense, when you think about it.)
  2. Built most of the sets this week. The Mystery Machine has 23 stickers - the most of any of the sets. The Haunted Lighthouse is probably my favourite of the bunch - interesting build, cool play features and looks great on display. They're all much better in the flesh, though - definitely held up well to my first impressions at Toy Fair.
  3. I'll respond to the individual play features below, but just a note that the Super Jumper is involved with a lot (if not most) of them... The tongue doesn't launch backwards - it tips forwards. The eye movement is alright but the hat is unnecessary as it's just as easy to move the hat itself than use the gear on the back. For the centerpiece of the set, the play features for interacting with minifigures are very limited. I did enjoy the spinning ride, but an exploding function would have been welcome - i.e. to make one of the ducks pop out (and therefore 'rescue' Beast Boy). The bike is held upright with Technic liftarms which are a pain to line up, so Harley will often get stuck. The sign at the top has to be held up by the bike, too - if the bike's not at the top, the sign falls down. The point of this is that Batman's supposed to jump up with the super jumper, knock the sign over and push Harley down the tightrope... sending Robin into the burning dustbins at the other end (?!). Yes, and that's about it. Not very interesting... The cannon is abysmal as noted previously. Most people will probably have formed an opinion on the stud-shooters and spring-missiles by now as they've been in other sets, but I will say that the spring-missiles here are cleverly incorporated, while the stud-shooters seem out of place and tacked on. It's not a terrible set, but it does feel like one massive missed opportunity, and that more play features could have been added quite easily without adding to the part count too much. I'd have quite happily done without the Batmobile to give more depth and playability to the eponymous section of the set...
  4. Jokerland was a real disappointment for me. The play features are few and far between and the ones that are there don't really work. The cannon is awful. It just feels like the bones of something greater. Harley and Robin are the only real plus points for me. Otherwise it's just a great, colourful parts pack.
  5. Does anyone know the specific colour of Starfire's hair? I'm looking for LEGO's terminology - bright pink, perhaps?
  6. They're not in the back of the Shuttle instructions, so presumably not.
  7. The Final Duel and Shuttle (and presumably the rest of the SW summer wave) are out on June 1st, at least in the UK.
  8. Picked up the Coruscant Police Gunship and an Utapau troopers pack at my local LEGO Store yesterday to get Yularen and the poster. Had a nice chat with the manager while there and he threw in a Clone Trooper Lieutenant poly too. Decent May 4th all in all - hadn't seen those two sets in any other stores so 10% off each was better than nothing.
  9. So, these product reveals happening today... anyone heard anything? Supposed to have kicked off an hour ago by my reckoning.
  10. A brief thought on the new Vader helmet:
  11. Interesting that the press release refers to Snake as 'exclusive for Fall 2015'. So we can expect to see him again next year, reusing the mold... Series 3?
  12. Just built the Avengers Tower. A rarity in that the build surpassed the minifigures... not a fan of the Iron Legion colour scheme (would rather it was all blue) and Ultron just doesn't work as a regular minifigure for me, but the tower itself is great. Fun build, plenty of details and a solid structure, rather than just a facade. Tempted to pick up another one now to extend it by a few floors...
  13. Mine turned up today too. Wasn't overly fussed about the new Threepio from the images but now it's in my hands I don't think I'll be able to part with it... lovely stuff. Thanks CopMike, much appreciated. :)
  14. via Scarilian Definitely a new Harley. Looks better 'in the flesh' overall. Keen to see the rest of the figures up close...
  15. http://imgur.com/a/l7ZHI The new Vader helm looks odd - almost too realistic - but I spy a clear Astro dome...
  16. To be fair, those prelim boxes don't show the new Batman figure in Jokerland (with boots), nor the new Robin in the Batboat (as far as I can tell) - which were both on the art cards at Toy Fair. Sadly I don't remember the villain designs on the art cards, but it means there's a chance they're redesigns I guess... albeit a slim one.
  17. Apologies, in my quick glance at the box at Toy Fair I mistook Starfire for a redesigned Ivy...
  18. Possibly the Robin in the Batboat set but I can't be sure. Hopefully we'll see prelims soon as they're starting to emerge for other themes...
  19. Pretty sure that's what Jokerland Batman's boots looked like - a clean, solid split of grey for the legs, and black for the boots. About the same height too.
  20. One thing I've just realised about the Final Duel set from that pic is the lack of surrounding areas which were pivotal in the film e.g. the ledge Luke jumped up to when refusing to fight. They even managed to get that into the Death Star...
  21. To simplify it as much as possible... All physical minifigures were blank white figures with yellow hands Artwork cards next to each set displayed the actual included minifigures Some of the art was blank where minifigures weren't finalized yet The Swamp Monster was finalized.
  22. The new tram looks substantially different to that one. Not quite as tall, with (as far as I recall) two long carriages instead of the central, smaller carriage. The windows were also smaller. My main view of it was from above at one end, though, so I didn't get a good look at the sides...
  23. Yup, that's the new Vader. Pretty nice all told.
  24. Which was the set with a blue tram? Might be able to tell you how similar the new one is...
