True. Of course, then you have the issue of what to do if the piece you want isn't available in the required colour, but with a ship such as the A-Wing (if the last edition is anything to go by) that shouldn't be too big a problem. TK

Very enthused about a new A-Wing. Got a couple of the last iteration but I'm very fond of the design. Shame it doesn't sound like it'll be in a new colour scheme though. Blue would have made my day... The AT-RT sounds like a good shout too, but otherwise pics will have to sway me over. I'm hoping they're actually all terrible, as I still haven't picked up any 2012 sets short of a battle pack and Anakin's Interceptor. Boo-urns. TK

Yeah, they're rolling out across stores currently, so some have them and others don't... I'm sure I'll see them in there by the end of the week TK

Just got back from Tesco hunting for Series 8 (no luck, but a graphic in the toy aisle indicates their imminent arrival). Spotted a couple of discounts - Captain America's Avenging Cycle for £9 and Loki's Cosmic Cube for £15. Haven't seen the latter drop in a while so it seemed like a good deal. Also still had Ewok Attack for £12.45. TK

Okay, I'm just throwing this out there for now to see if there's any interest from the community. I have a copy of 10190 Market Street, built once and displayed. It's in good condition, if a tad dusty, but I'll make sure everything is in immaculate, dust-free condition before any deals are undertaken. In any case, it's 100% complete with minifigures, instructions and box. Now, the going rate for this set on Bricklink and eBay for (used, complete) sets sold is around £400-500. For sets currently available, the average price on BL is £616.87. With box this is considerably more - the lowest price used set on Bricklink with box and instructions is currently £744.15. I realise this isn't due entirely to the box and more the seller's own inflated price, but the box does seem to push the price up a bit. In any case, I've been mulling it over for a while now, but I've been considering selling MS in order to buy 10188 Death Star before it's off the shelf (which I'll never be able to justify the cost of purchasing otherwise) and use the leftover funds to invest in 10224 Town Hall. The cost of these two sets currently at RRP is £425, so while this may sound a tad ridiculous, the current going rate for MS suggests otherwise. My question is: would there be anyone interested in cutting out the middle man and doing a straight trade along the lines of: 10190 Market Street for 10188 Death Star 10224 Town Hall ? I know it's a long shot, but I thought I'd ask before having to resort to dealing with eBay/Bricklink to sell it. I haven't done much in the way of B/S/T around here, but I have 100% positive feedback on eBay and am on the Straight Shooter's List at FBTB (usernames available upon request). Thanks! TK

My first guess for Battle Packs next year would be Phase 1 Clones vs Geonosians - based on this year's Geonosian Cannon, much in the same way that Ewok Attack was a precursor of the Endor BP (as was Echo Base of the Hoth BPs). If TLG follow the same template as this year then no doubt we'll see both factions in one box, leaving room for 2 more factions, presumably from the Original Trilogy. However, as all bases have now been covered from Ep IV-VI (Tantive IV/Yavin, Hoth and Endor), perhaps we'll see the aforementioned AOTC BP alongside a Clone Wars pack (with Phase 2 Clones)? TK

Spotted a couple of deals at Tesco. Ewok Attack reduced to £18 and the Endor BP at £7.97... populate those forest moons! TK

The Hollywood Reporter has the exclusive scoop on Hobbit figs, it seems: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/hobbit-movie-lego-sets-comic-con-2012-346300 Posting from mobile so can't link the image right now but there's Gandalf (seems unchanged), Bilbo and 3 dwarves. TK

Our favorite Lego CMF minifigures!

Tough question... probably the following by series: S1 - Zombie S2 - Mexican S3 - Tribal Chief S4 - Hazmat Guy S5 - Lizard Man S6 - Lady Liberty S7 - Rocker Girl Series 4 + 6 are my favourites so far, though the only one I've come closest to completing is Series 7 (only two more to go). I just don't feel the push to buy figs that I don't care for... some collector right? TK -
My own site is Cryteria, but I also write reviews and other articles for The Hollywood News and Top 10 Films. TK

I like to think of myself as a film critic. This generally entails watching films and writing about them, interviewing directors, actors, etc. and attending press junkets. Back in the real world, I'm undertaking a degree in journalism in the vague hope that one day I'll get paid for doing all that. For now I do it for free, but I do get free films (usually a month or so before release), food, drink et al in return. TK

Ditto on Alldarker. Can't find my percentage but fairly sure it will be enough. Cheers! TK

In terms of comparing Palpatine's Arrest to Jabba's Palace, at least, the new molds play a big part. The Arrest set might have six specific character figures (i.e. not Clones/droids/hired goons) but unless I'm much mistaken (which I very well may be as it's hard to keep track of which Jedi have and haven't been released by now), there are no new molds on them - only new prints. Compare this to the Palace, with a generous dollop of new molds, figures etc. and the price difference starts to make a little more sense. Though not enough sense to warrant double the price, of course. TK

Turns out Palpatine's Arrest is £59.99 in the UK. Which is better than expected! At least compared with the rest of the summer wave... £29.99 for Saesee Tiin's Starfighter?! TK

Finally found time to make the long journey to Smyths today in order to get a shirtless Maul figure. Bought the Geonosian Cannon to get it, which as an added bonus was on sale for £14.99 too :o) TK

Good LEGO stores in London, any recommendations?
The Kid replied to Out of Sight's topic in Community
John Lewis on Oxford Street tends to have a good selection, and price-matches other stores (and sometimes even websites - the Battle of Naboo is £15.99 instore). TK -
Placed my May 4th order yesterday for the goodies, which consisted of Anakin's Jedi Interceptor, an Endor Battle Pack, Batman keychain and Series 6 minifigure. £10 of VIP points got me the lot for £41.96 TK

I liked this a lot, and it's one of the better superhero flicks, but I did have a few quibbles with it: 1) Loki's character seemed almost pantomime-like, especially in the scene where Hulk interrupts his speech. The comedy went a bit too far there I think...! 2) The Avengers seemed to win every fight with ease when the army came down. There was pretty much no sense of danger or threat in this film at all. 3) The alien race was underused and pretty much irrelevant - it all just seemed like one big setup for a sequel (from the post-credits sequence anyway). It was still a great watch though and had a fantastic script. Whedon's direction was brilliant, though the 3D didn't really add much and got quite disorienting towards the end. TK

Built my recently acquired 8038 Battle of Endor today - found sitting atop a John Lewis shelf at Westfield Stratford; a set I'd long thought discontinued (and thus I'd missed out on). Pleasantly surprised by the size of the AT-ST, and the whole setup looks great Not sure why Han has pupils where none of the other figures do though... TK

Found 8038 Battle of Endor in John Lewis at Westfield Stratford last week... never managed to get this one so as soon as my student loan came in this week it was straight back to get it £85 RRP but for a NIB set discontinued back in November (according to Brickset) I didn't mind! TK
-
Excellent... forgot to check for them last week but I'll nip back on Wednesday and have another look. TK
-
Well like I say this was back in '08 so undoubtedly things will have changed now, but back then they were just sitting on a shelf next to all the keychains, brick separators etc. there were about seven or eight of them. But when I went back last year I couldn't see any, so I guess they've either stopped doing them or the timing was wrong. The first time I went was around Christmas; last year it was April. TK
-
Has anyone ever found these at the Westfield London stores? I remember buying one from the Downtown Disney store in Orlando, FL back in '08 that was mostly MTT parts, including 7 or 8 battle droids of varying torso colour (sans their heads). Plenty of useful parts though, which are currently employed in a brick-built CMF display stand TK

My main hobby is probably watching films, which I do an awful lot of, and am currently attempting to make a career out of. It's even harder than it sounds. Otherwise I've been drumming for about five years, dabbled in photography and do a lot of writing (usually on said films, for mine and others' websites). Oh, and I attend a lot of gigs, festivals etc. I'm a bit of a music nut. I've recently been given an acoustic guitar too so I'll probably have a crack at learning that over summer. I used to play quite a lot of videogames but as I have a lot less free time these days that's a much rarer occurrence. I can't say I miss it too much; everything gets a bit samey after a while. TK

Watched Thor last night in preparation for The Avengers in a couple of weeks. I've been trying my best to get into the London press screening for that one but alas it was for nought, as it's on Friday and I'm nowhere near the capital at that point I caught The Cabin in the Woods a few weeks ago, though, which I believe is on general release this Friday (April 13th). Strongly recommend for fans of horror - or even if you're not, as the film pretty much makes a mockery of the genre (without spoofing it). It's a ridiculously clever film that even features a pre-Thor Chris Hemsworth TK
