  7. On his Brickshelf gallery, Souhi2 posted LDRAW files and the following images of eight realistic-looking Lego engines. Instead of using the same-old Lego Technic engine cylinders, consider building these engines for your Lego models of American cars: Cadillac 346-cubic-inch Flathead: Chevrolet Big Block: Chevrolet Small Block: Ford 351-cubic-inch V8: Ford 427-cubic-inch SOHC (single overhead cam): Ford Big Block: Mopar (Dodge/Chrysler/Plymouth) 426 Hemi: Pontiac 421-cubic-inch V8:
  8. On his Flickr photostream, Cambodian AFOL Lola/ "Lola aka tropicalicecube" posted many images of these two interesting Lego Technic creations. "Y9 engine seen alongside donnor frame from the 1921 Land Speed Record motorcycle "La Foudroyante", also a creation of famous Ingenieur Arthur-Robert Fatasse. This exemple, the only one known to have survived, is said to be still there because nobody dared even only to start it": "Y 9 Engine from famous Ingenieur Robert-Arthur Fatasse. Very famous for blowing, scattering, smashing, burning and generally spitting people away when fired": There are 16 photos on Lola's Brickshelf gallery. "Have you got what it takes? Serious All-Terrain/All-Weather Fun with this Trike unique in its kind. Comes with optionnal FilthyRichSpoiledKids extra Luggage Rack and Spare Wheel." There are 21 pictures on Lola's Brickshelf gallery.
  9. Let's go back in time -- to 100 B.C. in Ancient Greece.... NatureVideoChannel posted this of "The [Lego] Antikythera Mechanism: http://bit.ly/fm4oFK is the oldest known scientific computer, built in Greece at around 100 BCE. Lost for 2000 years, it was recovered from a shipwreck in 1901. But not until a century later was its purpose understood: an astronomical clock that determines the positions of celestial bodies with extraordinary precision.

In 2010, we built a fully-functional replica out of Lego.

  10. At the end of his YouTube video, it says "Building Instructions Coming Soon"!
  11. Thanks, Tony_st170, for posting the hi-resolution pictures! I like the four functions available on the upcoming 8070 Lego Technic Supercar:
  12. @ TechnicJuan: Well, you have your opinion and I have mine. I paid full price for one set of Skyliner's Building Instructions, because I think it is worth building. If you have a problem with Skyliner, please correspond with him in private. Eurobricks is supposed to be all about "Uniting Lego Fans Around the World", not "flaming" them over and over. Thanks, Skyliner, for making the Building Instructions.
  13. On his Facebook page, Sariel (Paul Kmiec) said "...a US-based publisher wants me to write a book on Lego bricks. The question is: what subject would you find most attractive? Should it be more guide/tutorial-like or describe my own creations? Should I attempt to present a general insight into mechanics in the world of Lego bricks, like I did with my tutorial on Lego gears, or rather try to provide building instructions for some complete models? Please share your thoughts in the comments [part of his Facebook page ]." On his website, Sariel wrote: "I have been asked for an interview by the VideoGaduła, a programme run by a Polish Internet TV. The interview consists of questions submitted earlier by viewers, and right now, until December 12th, you have a chance to ask your questions. "There is a programme run by Polish Internet TV called VideoGaduła, which features prominent figures from the Polish show business & cultural circles. The guests are given a list of questions submitted by viewers prior to the programme, and answer these in a video interview. I have been asked to give such an interview, and as a part of it I’d like to gather some questions from you. I’ll have these translated to Polish, I will answer these in the interview, and then publish the video along with a transcription in English. The interview is scheduled to take place on December 15th, and you have time until December 12th to post your questions in the comments. Feel free to ask whatever you like, but please note that not every question has to be answered.
  14. On his Brickshelf gallery, 2LegoOrNot2Lego (Ingmar Spijkhoven) posted a link to his newest of the "Loading and unloading of the LEGO set 8043 to my self build MOC. This MOC is of an US style 3 axle detachable gooseneck lowboy trailer with LEGO Power Functions. More on this lowboy trailer: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=442983."
  15. Skyliner has made available the Building Instructions for his Lego Technic Lamborghini Countach LP400. "This Lamborghini model is a custom original design by skyliner. Made from approx 1300 lego Technic parts. Step by step instructions on how to build the model. 367 illustrated pictures in 3 parts, pdf files. Full graphic part inventory - 1300 parts Full Build Instructions on CD ROM - PDF Type file"
  16. On his Brickshelf gallery, "Crowkillers" (Paul Boratko) has posted these 8 images of his Work In Progress (WIP) -- a "2011 Supercar [with] V8 rear wheel drive with suspension and 4 function control box." They do not yet appear on the Crowkillers website, and the car is different from his New Modular Project. I wonder what the exterior will look like? Any guesses? There are four functions labelled on the photo below, which appear to be: (1) Steering wheel and Hand Of God (HOG) steering, (2) 4-speed Gearbox, (3) working fake V8 engine, and (4) suspension, but I could be mistaken. The 4-function control box on the central stickshift controls these functions somehow....
  17. On his Brickshelf gallery, Russian AFOL Proto-B/ OtherProto posted photo-sequence Building Instructions for his two Lego "Techball" vehicles -- a Bobcat skid-steer loader motorball bot and a Truck. From this TechnicBRICKS article, Conchas wrote that "TechBall is a competition where a kind of football for vehicles, takes place. The objective of the game is that each player tries to capture the ball and introduces it into the opponent's goal. Its popularity has been increasing among several LUGs and it is specially interesting for organizing at the LEGO club events, for amusement of everybody." The two show them in action.
  18. On his Brickshelf gallery, Solic posted 33 pictures and a of his 4x4 Tanker. It has Lego RC control and full suspension.
  19. @ Tomik: Your Lift Truck is very good! Thanks for sharing your Brickshelf pictures and Building Instructions for the Work Platform.
  20. You've got some work ahead of you!
  21. Holy Toledo, Batman! This is nice!
  22. On , Searme/ Sariel (Paul Kmiec) posted his first-ever walker -- a Lego Motorized Octopod Walker. His Facebook page presents it, and the Building Instructions for the legs are available from his website http://sariel.pl/downloads/ (PNG images in ZIP archive, a 1.60-MB download). This Octopod is within the reach of many Lego Technic builders, and looks like great fun to build! When made public, images will be available from his Brickshelf gallery. For the complete explanation and additional pictures, see http://sariel.pl/2010/12/octopod/ . P.S. If you do not have software to "unzip" the file, you could use http://www.winzip.com for a free, 30-day trial. The rubber tip for the legs is the 45590 "Technic, Axle Connector Double Flexible (Rubber)" part.
  23. On MOCpages, Nick Barrett has detailed descriptions and pictures of his studded Lego 1:8 Scale Honda NSX model. Here are the highlights of what he wrote: "I've modelled the T-bar version of this car - this has two roof sections that clip onto the centre rail or stow in the boot. The engine is a surprisingly modest 3.0 litre V6, transversely mounted behind the driver and featuring Honda's unique VTEC valve timing to allow a high specific output at very high revs. 276bhp was plenty for a car of this type at the time - top speed 170+ mph." "Under the bonnet, you see the double wishbone suspension, a mechanism to raise the pop-up lights and, in a little present to Tom Simon, a functioning bonnet catch. Release this and the bonnet pops up a little on a spring, ready to be raised, then clicked shut." "Interior - I'm quite pleased with how this turned out - it's pretty close to the look of the real thing and there's plenty of detail in here. In front of the lever for the 6 speed gearbox, the two knobs on the centre console are useful; twist the left one and the lights pop up. I wanted to pull the right one to release the bonnet catch but this idea would have raised the line of the bonnet - we'll have to settle for fumbling under the bumper to do it (just like on a 2CV!). The seats slide and recline, the handbrake moves and the glovebox opens." "A view of the front with the lights up....Underneath at the rear, you can see the compact double wishbone suspension, built using only 1 UJ per side; pairs of gears tilt relative to each other as the wheels move, but never by enough to slip out of mesh due to shortish travel. Said gears are stacked vertically - you can only see the lower one from here. This is a variation of Tyler Reid's idea. The compact 6 speed transmission sits between and under the seats. The engine runs well in all gears - it revs like the clappers in 1st!" "Under the front you can see that Honda do like their double wishbones - even Civics had them all round until very recently. The reason I've built the chassis using grey parts is simply that Honda built theirs entirely from aluminum."
  24. Lego911 is still adding more entries for the LUGnuts challenge. From his Flickr photostream: "Claas AXOS with Digger tool - LDD" "One of the smaller Claas Tractors, the AXOS has a 4.4 litre 4-cylinder engine withpower outputs between 55 and 75 kW. It is shown here with a Digger tool, commonly used by farmers for lifting feed, moving manure and digging holes. The wheelbase is comparatively short 2,489 mm, which is also its approximate height. This tractor weighs approximately 2,500 kg and is highly manouvreable. Here it is equiped with a furrowing tool (for creating furrows). The outer blades are folded in to make the tractor and tool more compact for travel on the road or through tighter environments." He now has a complete size range of Claas tractors: "Claas Tractor Range 2010 - LDD" "A mostly complete selection of the smaller end of the Claas Tractor Range: Claas ELIOS (open) Claas ELIOS (Cabin) Claas AXOS (small wheels) Claas AXOS (big wheels) Claas ARION 400 (SWB) Claas ARION 600 (LWB) Claas AXION"
