Nice work! PolishGuy, that's also a nice haul of basic bricks. I' assuming that you got that from a wall in Chicago, which Chicago wall would that be? I'm going there after Christmas and I plan to go berserk at the PaB walls there...
-
What I noticed on the new sets. Most have doors, and I put emphasis on that because some of the vehicles we had lately don't have those
-
This is one of the few sets that, as a child, wanted so much. But never had it
-
Ahahah the real life version is crazy! But you recaptured the idea pretty darn well
-
I'm going to the Chicago area after Christmas, and that's not good news, because I wanted to get another CC (superior set for parts). And, the likelyhood of Green Grocer (IMO another superior parts set, 2nd to CC) being in stock in any of the Chicago stores also slims as Christmas nears. I can only hope any modulars are still in stock after Christmas. I'm going to Schaumberg where 2 stores are pretty much next to each other.

The actual job is fine, but... that's a City car. Country folks probably don't have city cars, let alone ever heard of such things If anything that deliver car is much more suited in a downtown residential area, the extreme opposite of a county town.

You know something about flying? Very good. Then you realize you simply can't have jets taxiing 2 blocks across a cafe or an apartment building. You can't have 5 airplanes flying a hundred feet over a city and not have the FAA lose their eyebrows. You talk about realism and accurate scaling? Well there you go. If I get an airplane, I will *need* an airport, and if I build an airport I will *need* space. That's how I think, simple as that. To each his own, though. It simply won't work on a downtown/urban setting (whereas trains will fit very very perfectly for example) Also, planes = bricks = money. EVen if I were to buy them without an airport they'd still be far behind in my priority list. That's just how I see it. There's still a Fire Brigade, CREATOR houses and the new mystery modular way ahead of the planes.

Why do you seem to take this so srsly? Listen, I don't mind the large size, I personally am a fan of LEGO bulking up (6-wide trucks, Cafe Corner-sized buildings), that's what I collect, and that's what I will try to MOC. But to have a big airplane like that in my collection (and I'm trying to grow a downtown-type city here) means to have a big airport, and I simply won't have the space! Have you ever imagined what a Cafe Corner-scaled International airport fitting in a room without taking out a huge chunk of real estate, let alone the price? I'm not buying the large airplanes, even if their noses are brick-built awesomes, because I'd rather focus my bricks on something else. I also don't buy the realism crap you're spouting off here, and you're treading a very, very slippery slope here.

The rest of the helicopter is good, but the nose is just... terribad. Really. I'd much prefer a less streamlined, brick-built nose, but that's just me. Maybe that's why I stayed away from CITY aircraft (and the fact that they're omghueg) I'd still buy the whole set though, hoping it's not more than $35.

First time I've seen the topmost set. That Limo is definitely a badass ride. I can do away with the Duplo-nosed helicopter, but that's 4 minifigs too. Regardless, want.

Cool, the numeric value for us USDers shouldn't be to far off from the EUR numbers. I'ma git my paws on that Octan and Repair Truck!

6566's style may have come from an era of Town where everything is crap, but... I actually like that bank, haha A bank in CITY format would be alright. They probably would make it have those 1x6x5 clear panels as windows, which I probably won't like as much (i.e. Fire Stations shouldn't be glass buildings, and I don't think banks should be as well). But, a 6-wide armored car would be probably nothing but drool-worthy
-
That 5899 house is *very* basic. Something I probably wouldn't even consider. The 5898 however has passable looking vehicles that can fit the CITY theme very well. My local TRU shows that; 5898 is out of stock already while there are still plenty of 5899 on the shelf.

Lots of grey, brown and tan bricks (which are about the best building MOC ingredients), dark blue bricks, lots of light and dark grey tiles (and I mean a ton), 5 1x4x6 windows, dark grey plates, less than $.07 per piece... bleh I could go on. Perfect parts pack.
-
I really, really dislike that nose piece. Small plane is still better because it's brickier than the big plane. Wouldn't buy it though, to have an airport on a exclusive-modular setting would need bigger runways
-
If it was that easy by just 'suing' them, the rest of the companies of different categories in the world would have done it already, including LEGO. China bootlegs everything, from toys to model kits, appliances, even cars. That said, I will never buy bootlegs or even consider them.

Lego and the equality of the Sexes.

So, does anyone want a return of Paradisa? Pretty sure well over half the minifigs there are female. I'm lucky I inherited my sister's Paradisa sets and got a nice boost of the female population. -

Lower prices by 50%. I mean, good Lord. -
Let me guesstimate mine... Green Grocer, Cafe Corner, City Corner, Family Home x2. Beach Housex2, PaB cup x2... that's $570 if I did my math and prices right. Maybe $200 more worth of LEGO City vehicles and Creator MINI's that I can't even bother counting. The worst part? All of these purchases are within the last 2 months since I got back into LEGO. And then, there are my old Town sets.... Ok, the grand total is probably not enough to buy a used V8 Ford Mustang like some of you guys have, but damn my amount is rather staggering to me!
-
I think it's well executed. The shed roof design is brilliant. May I suggest a darker color for the balconies though? Should bring out some contrast that Cafe Corner does so well.

Again, sorry for the blur in some pics and the rather cozy lighting If you guys wanted a non-bricklink way of getting only the new SNOT bricks I would suggest going for the 30008 snowman impulse set, it's about a buck fifty cheaper and has 6 of those new SNOT bricks. Otherwise, this is a good standalone model, and this set also has quite a bit of good, useful parts for MOC aside from those SNOT bricks. It's the reason I picked up this little set, to use its pieces, but I think I've been having too much fun with it lately... Time to buy another one!

Always sad to see such a staple like Pirates go Also, 7236 Police Car and 7237 Fire Truck not on that list! They're almost 5 years strong!

That is some sort of epic. I want to do something like that

5865: Mini Dumper Year: 2010 Theme: Creator Pieces: 60 Price: $5.49 USD New little set from LEGO. All the parts, the greens mesmerized me so I bought it Pieces of interest: New 1x1 SNOT bricks (I am on a crusade getting many of those) and green roof things. I often see them in grey or dark grey, not so much in green Parts list I start with the weakest model: race car parts left over. It's a weak model since it doesn't resemble any real car. Open wheels with windshield? And is that fire jetting out its back? meh Off Roader parts left over. This one is a better. Kinda short/stubby, but it looks and feels like a jeep. And now, the main model: The Mini Dumper! Parts left over It feels so big! The dumper really looks like the real thing, and it's impressive considering that the scale of this id about half of what a CITY version might theoretically be like. Hm, I think I'd like to see this in LEGO CITY scale, and one that uses bricks for the dumper instead of a couple of big premade pieces. Sorry for the rather sucky camera and lighting, but this was a quick review, hopefully we can put some info out here on the interwebs, as this one has been rather obscure.

I heard that Creator stuff is good for parts... I should have a decent amount of those new SNOT 1 x 1s...
