  1. @DaMax Yes, I know it has been a long time coming... but that scene will be unveiled after we unleash the beginning of the cooperative building "challenge" (Are we allowed to call non-sanctioned challenges [with no prizes] challenges still?) I think what Masa and I have planned will be fun for everyone who wants to join. I was hoping you might want to get on board for the plotline around Eastgate, perhaps as the first builder in line? (mainly depicting what we have already talked about on PMs) As for Lord RoK - I agree about the title - are we making that person both the out of character and in character vice-leader? Also does it have to be a main character? I am in between those right now. You could all vote for the ghost of Dugal and hope that he finds a way back from the grave... Maybe the great desert race would work really well... Or perhaps it was he who through the best party.... haha. Also, great display of shields boys! (and lady).
  2. Wow, that is really cool. But, I think if anyone has flying saucers, it is probably us. Or at least flying carpets...
  3. My discovery center had some a couple weeks ago I believe, I will go check tomorrow for you.
  4. I can't find that game on mine either!!! Funny you should say that about Eastgate, as at one point I had part of a gladiatorial stadium built as a free build before I started Queenscross. It could easily have been converted to football though!
  5. Haha, that is a great Idea, but, yes we should not start any unnecessary wars... Unless Rowia wants to challenge Historica...
  6. Cij, Just the first part is done, we are moving on to continue the project. Stick around if you want, there is much more to come!
  7. I think we are more on the same page here than I think, but I don't agree with the last line -- but we can agree to disagree. I agree the storyline was great, but I don't think multiple authors would hurt the story as long as it was only one group of authors at a time. I am not saying 9 people at a time start writing different plots and try to fit them together, but a different three or four each story arc. I agree there needs to be an executive leader that makes the hard decisions, but a little more input from different people on challenge creation, plot, etc... could only help to keep things moving. We (the public) don't know the hierarchy of how GoH runs, so that might be part of why the confusion has begun. For example, were the 4 guild leaders equal partners in running the project? Did they all have to consent to a challenge or an idea before it was implemented? If so, I can see why things got so bogged down. Like I have said, we are all trying to make a sustainable project here, and I think many of the various ideas we have had as a group are forming the next chapter. It is good to go through this discussion though.
  8. I don't agree here, with a smaller core there is a larger chance that the project will fall apart because we are overburdening the leadership. We have already seen how taxing this can be for a hobby. With a rotating body preparing and executing story-lines and challenges, there is less chance for burnout and more chance that different elements rotate through the general project. I am sure some of you have played MMORPGs or FPSs and belonged to a guild / club / clan / etc... you may have even ran one... they are extremely taxing keeping things running without good help. I imagine that this project is similar, except that the guild leaders are not only holding guilds together but also creating the content that forty or so members are demanding more and more of. The more duties are spread, the longer the life of the project. That doesn't mean that whoever is running the plotline has to dislodge all the secrets of the story or what the future challenges will be, just that there should be a plan in place to give that person a break if they so wish.
  9. I agree with keeping the wheel, its a fantasy build, I guess Kaliphlin invented that too... But yeah, a whipstaff would have been more to the period. Great looking ship though. I hope to get some of GEAR Co's navy out and a bout this summer.
  10. You and your statistics... But, for real, how did you get those numbers? Please tell me you didn't count them manually.
  11. I really like the Crownies / Lions, but I too wish they would have gone one or the other! I like the Blue / white pattern, and really wish we would see a different color than bright red and black as the bad guys... maybe next time we can get some royal purple or yellow? (Not the arms or pants though!!! )
  12. It is not fair that Legonardo is so talented and so young. I demand that he starts his own guild with his old gold count. I will give more feedback in the individual threads... but great job.
  13. Really cool how it bends in on itself. Nice piece of medieval shipbuilding! Great display you all had!
  14. Great work! It is ok, this was your first re-post of a WIP, I am sure a mod could meld the two topics. Anyway, a great defensive structure you have going there! Kaliphlin needs more defenses in a time like this. I also think the double entrance is unique and interesting... How do they close it though?
  15. So, despite the chest pounding in this thread, very nice build! The themed audience is good, and the ground is layered well, but a little vegetation might make it stand out more.
  16. I imagine it as Medieval Paris, a very metropolitan city... Or if you are a reader of the Wheel of Time series, like Camlyn... CBB, if you win the lore competition, I think OGM Zakon should just rule all the guilds. Then you would not have to choose a new one. If that doesn't happen, any of the guilds would be glad to have you.
  17. Thank you for getting the ball rolling, Z. Well, I like most of this. For the most part, the technical issues are all there, except I think that more people should be on the administrative body for the next story arch (I think I laid out a good leadership plan in my proposed constitution, even if some details need to be hammered out). As for the plotline... I am a little iffy. The plot itself is good, but dividing up the guilds into teams rather than competing as guilds seems counter to the history of the project so far. I like all you Avalonians, but I like my team more. I wouldn't want to go ripping up the guilds for builder balance. I don't think this is what you are proposing, but the way it is written, I get that feeling. Also, by focusing so much on Nocturnus (for a full 6 challenge story arch), I wonder if we are limiting ourselves a little too much. Maybe the conflict starts in Nocturnus and spreads like wildfire to the territories of the other guilds in the later challenges? I love the idea of three categories, that is a great way to give more people a chance at great recognition. Lastly, I think we all understand that leadership has other parts of their life to tend to, but I think there were many volunteers that would help step in and run things, and rotations would keep everyone from burning out. I don't think anyone wants to rip the baby from the arms of our mother creators here, they just want to provide a nanny for the project. Each guild leader is still held in high esteem, even if they have not been able to participate as much as possible. I hope none of them feel as if we are ungrateful to them by wanting to have more hands on control of the project.
  18. So, I made it home with most of my old collection. For those of you in the USA and know what I am talking about, we got held up in Oklahoma during that horrible storm, dodged a tornado (we actually dodged one back in PA a few miles from my mom's place, right before I left too...), and made it back today. There is so much that I will be sorting the old collection for over a year I feel... haha. I also did not have room in the van for any of my ships (which were all shrink-wrapped and ready to go. My mom is going to UPS those to me I guess. Don't tell my fiance though, if she sees any more increase in the collection size I may be in trouble. As for the big picture story idea, I will have more details next week when I get my head back on straight. I know it got buried, but my proposed constitution for the project had this built in to keep people from burning out. You did not disappoint anyone! I think we get jealous that you are out and about in the community a lot, however, I think we are all very happy with the guidance you have given us and when you do have spare time. I think you should remain leader as long as you want, but the vice leader who could get in on the inside action would help you administrate things and be a direct link to answering questions. Agreed, Dextrus should remain the high lord and leader, historically that makes a lot of sense. As the high lords of Kaliphlin, we could vote in a "Overlord of the Council" that " runs" the guild in game as an assistant to Dextrus - like the PM elections in Mitgardia. As for the vice-leader of the guild and assistant to SI, the builder would not necessarily have to be the "in character" vice-leader of the guild. I would do it if you guys want, but whoever does become a vice-leader, they really need to have access to the "inside" workings of GoH (in my opinion). Also, can the vice-leader participate in the new challenges? If not, I am probably a good candidate, since we wouldn't be losing a good builder by giving me up!!!! haha
  19. Mine said 25 also, but I took it to the scanner and it rang up at 11 dollars. There was nothing advertised that it would do so.
  20. It would be nice to have an "insider," but then again, I am not sure how one becomes an insider! So getting one might be hard. Well I decided to drive back from PA to texas in a rented minivan to haul my old collection to unite with my main collection... In preparation, I have been trying to presort my old collection.. why oh why did I mix so many megablocks in there???? I realize I have too much... and a lot of it is older that I just won't use in MOCing... So I am trying to figure out how to sell the "back end" of my collection, without selling stuff I may need in the future. I think I might unload some of my pirates, since I really don't build in that theme too often any more. On a final note, if you have k-marts around you still, the Uraki attack is 11(!) dollars. Go figure I am trying to sort out some of the collection to leave in PA, and I buy a bunch more...
  21. I would not count out Nice Marmott, Robuko, Gabe, and a few others that might not have logged on this week to vote.
  22. There are enough active people in this guild that we could definitely have a vice-leader that would look after our interests. If Ageven, or just Kai in general, wants to take up that mantle, I would support it. I know we kind of run things as a collective in the guild (which I like), but not having an active insider leaves us oustide the loop.
  23. NIce Score!!!! I can never find Lego at garage sales, if people sell their's it seems to be the stuff that is snatched up at 6:00am when the sale starts.
  24. Sorry was gone for a few days in Canada with no internet access... Back at my mom's now, but still on vacation... @ Kayne, I don't think we would throw any type of limit on it. And if we only had about six or seven of us interested, we might just stick to one or two plotlines. @DM, one of the plotlines we had in mind was going to have something to do with the civil war in Eastgate.
  25. I am apparently ignoring my vacation... Team, Masa and I have been cooking up a building plot, similar to the rescuing Merith plotline that he and Kai went back and forth with a few months ago. (Does someone have the links for the new people?) We would like to know who all is interested in participating in this storyline during the summer. I am not giving away the story just yet, just trying to gauge interest. Here is the basic concept: There will be three intertwining plotlines that builders will participate in. We will start the beginning of the plotlines with a MOC, and pass a building challenge off to the next builder in line… They will build their part of the story, and at the end they would add a story element that would challenge the next builder in line while they build, this would continue until we hit a set story point, and then we may “redirect” the stories towards a finale. So in a sense you will be given missions to complete in this event. Right now, depending on the interest, I think we would look to turn out a new MOC for each of the storylines every week. (so if we had three people on each storyline, that would mean each person would have 3 weeks to complete their MOC in the rotation). I assume that each builder would probably build 3-4 builds for the storyline. We would probably need most of the people to sign up beforehand so that we knew who the story was going to next, but we might be able to squeeze in late builders. The storylines would all have a theme, two would be adventure based, one would be more political/warfare based. You would get to choose which plotline you were building for. There would be a few characters that would be prevalent in most of the builds, but also your sig fig or characters are welcomed to join the action in the builds themselves. More details on the storylines themselves as we get an idea of how many people want to participate. Why are we doing this? Because we are Kaliphlin, the story telling guild! Yes, some of the freebuilds will count before June, but many probably won’t count in the Book 1 competition period. Still, hopefully those after June will be counted elsewhere. Also, if I can get permission from the mods, I have prizes for participants. We could have an EB-wide vote for the best three builds of the whole series. Or maybe the best build of each storyline, and one overall winner. I have some older MISB sets that I can put up, or I can get some prizes from the new Castle line depending on what people like. So I ask you, are you interested? I am open to letting outher guilds participate, but probably one of the storylines would stay primarily Kaliphlin.
