  1. Hmmm, I really thought this would get more response. I know I have been a bit behind getting the first adventure up, so I will leave this open indefinitely to see if we get some bites. I hope to have the first adventure up tomorrow, and I will pass the story to DaMaximus, and hopefully he will have someone to pass it to other than me after that.
  2. The two MAESTRO Pikemen -- what are those torsos and legs? Also, I have heard that Color laser printers on decal sheets are the best way to make stickers with accurate colors and durability. I have never tried it myself, nor do I own a color laser printer.
  3. The map is inaccurate, our map is right :P Avalonia on this map is kind of at a warped angle -- technically there should be more coast between the archipelago and the border, and more coast between the border and the Red River / inland sea on Kaliphlin's side. So basically, a lot of the coast is missing. Most of the Witherwoods are within Kaliphlin, but some move into Avalonia. However, by the look of your claim, you are much farther away from the Witherwoods. That would be more of a plains region I think. And technically, according to the other maps, that land is probably not really within Avalonia, but within the region that Cedrica is in... but that was never really hammered out.... Anyway, geography wise, I would say that that is a plains / light forest area.
  4. I didn't know we had so many Floridians in the guild. Any of you near Orlando? I will be honeymooning down there in middle December, and I think we are renting a car so it would be cool to meet up. Back to the Lugs, I think the rules are supposed to stay on the down-low, and you have to be an active participant of the Lug anyway. Which kills it for me, because I teach on Saturdays, and that is when my local lug has its meetings.
  5. Those plates, be it rounds or squares, are nearly impossible to find on PAB -- However, around here (Dallas) the rounds have been seen. I was not fast enough though.
  6. Nice MOC, as always, funny story! One thing you might want to do with the road is add a little more "bumpiness" with a few raised 1x1 flats, rounds, or even plates. Although it looks to have a good texture now, this might add a little more realism to the road. Also, with fig posing, what I like to do is stick a round 1x1 flat under a foot, and try to have the figs at angles so that they contrast the square nature of the base of the MOC, you also can get more action out of them that way. Great work. I look forward to the next entry!
  7. Nice, small, and packed vignette! The posing is good, and the story is good. I agree with the photography comments, a little more light and at least one shot with the whole MOC, clear and free in the center, would do wonders for presentation. Otherwise, great job!
  8. Known mostly for the ruthlessness of the small fortified city (really a large town), Mophet still has a proud heritage amongst its noble class. This is their heraldry: Mophet by skaforhire, on Flickr
  9. Also, has Flamecus been active even this year? or last? I thought it was a dead account, but he is active in the history forum. Check out this Beauty. You Avalonians should make an effort to get him back... Also, there could be two Burriums, maybe a greater and a lesser?
  10. Yes! Absolutely, there is no due date for each task, just the end of the community build.
  11. Alright, I thought I would post the first task a day early, and I will post the second task next Monday, and the third the following. From there I will give the individual tasks starting Sept 9th, and I will continue to give tasks on an individual basis after that. This way, everyone is on the same pace for the first month of the collaborative build. So: The first task is as follows: Paulos knows that he must travel to Eastgate to meet with DaMaximus and the army starting to gather there. Unfortunately, he has no scouts at the moment. He does not know what the land outside of Eastgate is like right now. Is it hostile to him? Is there a friendly inn to stay in? Are their brigands that must be dealt with? Your job is to have your men look for a suitable path to Eastgate. Perhaps you stopped at one of the hamlets beyond the city walls to find shelter for Paulos on his travels. Perhaps you heard of some thugs that are working for Petera, and your men decided to take care of the problem before Paulos arrived. Perhaps there was another unforeseen obstacle in the way of Paulos arriving at Eastgate from Queenscross. Build your men/character scouting / preparing the way for Paulos. This is a pretty open warmup build for everyone, so feel free to interpret the setting freely. Remember, Eastgate sits in a region where the terrain is changing. Avalonian woods, Kaliphlin desert, or even coastal shores would all make good settings for your MOC. This first MOC should be no larger than 32x32 and no smaller than 10x10 (it is a warm up after all!) Good luck!
  12. Hmmm... I think I will expand the sign up date here until Aug 24th -- It would be really odd if DaMax and I built this whole thing back and forth -- Captain Settle, were you also on board for this one?
  13. CBB, this is the first time I have checked Avalonia in about a week, so I have not commented yet. Or I missed your post, not sure. I am sorry to hear about your family, and I hope you are able to straighten it all out. That is a hard pill to swallow. I can also see why others have not responded, as this is a delicate subject, and I am sure many people just could not find the words.
  14. Both are spectacular, I am a bit sad that we won't get to see that Abbey. But, I look forward to seeing Aden's Gate come to life.
  15. If I remember correctly, he had been laid off, and he told us he had to take a break for a bit. I think most of us are holding onto hope that he will return, as he was incredibly important to the guild for ideas, builds, stories, and of course, the maps.
  16. I guess we did say that (I thought we were talking about the out of character council only being older members), although I would still be inclined to put Nightstalker on the council sooner rather than later. Is everyone who participated in challenge 6 on the list already? Also, i should be doing work, but instead playing around with photoshop. GEARSHIELD2 by skaforhire, on Flickr GEAR Co. Shield. (All territories and outposts controlled by the company) EASTGATE2 by skaforhire, on Flickr The City of Eastgate's actual shield. These two shields are almost interchangeable, as the company runs the city. I eventually will create a naval flag.
  17. There are still a few others that resurface from time to time that may want added to the list. Plus, you are missing Nightstalker, he is very active. Sir James also has a city I think. I feel like a few people are missing here still. Didn't we get another new person recently?
  18. I remember that now about Kai and Kaligem... So many stories here, so much to keep straight! Oh, and to DM's original question to me -- currently Petera represents Eastgate. Also, I played around with those shields a bit, and made a shield for Queenscross: QC by skaforhire, on Flickr
  19. That is what I was assuming, although it might be a smaller set of heroes that you do your story MOCs with... One week until I start giving tasks, hopefully we see a few more volunteers for this and the other two stories!
  20. Z, I think you should add to your signature "the Orcs are MINE MINE MINE." I have said it before, and I will say it again. Thanks for getting Book II moving, you really were the ONLY one that had the power and the experience to do so, and you didn't let the project die. I saw a lot of what we talked about in the sign up thread (my constitution, others input at the same time) in the new Books. I suppose it is unfortunate that you WON challenge VI, you know with the like 17 fabulous builds and all, because now, to some, it seems that you control both sides of the next chapter. Never mind that the previous administration said that the winner would choose the history of the Victor war and set the tone going forward. I assume you didn't log onto other people's accounts and vote for yourself. (If you did, I think you deserve it even more for begin so cunning.) So, we as Historicans, overwhelmingly chose Z's story, (Ecc or I were a way distant 2nd) and the administration accepted Z's leadership and ideas behind the scenes to create a second chapter of the project. I don't feel Z took over. Although sometimes we may feel in the dark, Z has been more transparent than previous guild leaders (no offense) who had three or four other projects going on. --- CBB, I think you would make a great guild faction leader during the Avalonia portion, you are clearly one of the most intuitive builders here. You might even become the powerhouse in Avalonia. I know that any plot you have your hands in will be new, exciting, and may challenge us to new limits. I think you are hilarious and really add to the guilds, I don't want to see you go. I think we would have a lot of fun drinking at a bar some time, and would get along well. I don't want to see you go. However, the out of character anger you show on the board seems a bit hurtful. We can all take the in-game musings of Zakon and you have the right to believe that you are superior to a lot of us in building techniques -- you often walk the walk. On the other hand, Z doesn't have to get this next book started, I am sure Z's wife might like him to spend the time he spends calculating the next chapter here with the new baby instead. He has done a lot for this project so that it doesn't fall back into oblivion. We have a good group going here, and he wants to see that community thrive. However, because we are on Eurobricks, and they pay to host this server, we do have to play by Eurobricks rules. Z, Ecc, Rogueang, are our last connections to the EB inside, although all leaders in their own right, it was Z who stepped forward and got this rolling. It is necessary that we have official connection to EB and who better than someone who loves this project so much? Sure, you, I, Masa, Angelli, Rolli and others might have some great ideas and could run a totally different Guilds experience on our own. But, we can't do it on EB without following the rules. It also would never get the same exposure, most likely flounder, and die away. I don't know, maybe your poking at Z has been mostly sarcasm or joking, and I have been reading it wrong -- but clearly (unless he is in on the joke) it is wearing on Z. I don't want to make an enemy of you, like I said, I think you are important to GoH, and to EB as a whole, your builds are great, and you keep us entertained with your wit. I hope to work with you in the future on this project and others. I like you, and I don't want to see you keep digging yourself a trench and hunkering down against where Z is taking the project. I think you are going to flourish in Book II, I hope you can accept it.
  21. I was thinking about that city yesterday. Whichever person takes over leadership, I think the first guild challenge should be the new city. That would be a good unifier, especially for some of the new people or anyone that might switch sides. You all are right, we already have a natural council, that has been refereed to many times before I brought it up. I just thought it was a good time to solidify it. Additionally, whoever does become guild leader, as long as it is one of us currently, will probably respect the opinions of everyone here and run the guild as more of a loose democracy (as we do now), as that has been the nature of it so far. As for who should be leader in my opinion, Masa, Kai, and DM get my votes, but I do feel qualified too, and would enjoy doing it, if that is the decision. DM makes a good point about language, and I could understand if he didn't want to be GL because of it.
  22. I like them. I don't think every army needs a uniform, and this does look like an eclectic group of irregulars. I tend to build armies of like uniforms, but sometimes you just have to let the chaos flow!
  23. I heard that Trian Burress kills men by the hundreds. And if HE were here, he'd consume the Varlrians with fireballs from his eyes, and bolts of lightning from his big behind.
