There's another 2 (optional) stickers to add a bit of detail to the galley: they go on a 2x4 tile and a 2x2 curved slope. They're not super visible, but I felt they some people might appreciate the extra detail. I took a photo of the sticker sheet at Brickvention 2026 in Melbourne: You can only see them if you remove the 2 x 12 plate with the bell and look directly at the galley: The 2 stickers on 4x4 Macaroni tiles at the bow are quite obvious, but I include another closeup because I just think they look amazing! My insistence on making the prow one stud wide was a challenge: I had to use the tiles for stability and couldn't add small elements for decoration. I know some people dislike stickers in principle - you can of course leave them off as I did for months on my model. But I do think they look great! -

Yeah, I agree that Series 7 pictures are not quite as good as those from Series 6... I won't use that backdrop anymore. I sent you a link to a render of the Series 7 version from January 2025 that I have never shown. There aren't many changes compared to Series 6. By early January 2026 the official pictures for the final models should be out; that's what you used for that beautiful edit of the Thieves of Tortuga. They should be easy to work with and much higher quality than anything that I can produce... Photographing my MOCs has been a lifelong struggle

The unpredictable Privateers, sailing under the flag of Bluecoats, Redcoats or their own! I'm so grateful for these new torsos! They look so sharp with dual-molded legs and tricornes! The model is completely finished, but what was shown at Fan Media Days isn't the latest version. I think this is the first time that BrickLink has shown BDP models at this intermediate stage. Honestly it's a bit surreal that my ship was shown to Fan Media in Billund, Denmark. There's two 5264 clips missing at the headrails, they're meant to be connected; probably forgotten during the test build. Good spotting there! Indeed, getting the shrouds to be just the right tightness without bending the masts was a whole project in itself! Like so many other things with this ship. You're very correct, there used to be a skylight above the captain's cabin, but it was removed to make space for a storage chest. That became necessary because I wanted to be able to store every Minifigure utensil & weapon somewhere on the ship, and the number of Minifigures has increased as well. Fortuna has always had chaser guns.

What a pleasant surprise to see the prototype - please note this is not the final model - filmed at Fan Media Days in Billund (starting at 10:18): The most noticeable change are the Minifigures, again not final - but a good indication of what will be included.

Thanks for quoting the estimated sale number from stonewars, Yperio! Much appreachiated! I quite like the new system of flexible limits, especially given that sale starts at 3am here in Australia! I really enjoy the thought of not having to get up in the middle of the night to secure a high-demand BDP set The sales for Thieves of Tortuga are pretty solid as well, which gives me hope (I got one as well!) -

Mighty impressive build! Oh, I saw someone just bumped it to ask how things are going... as much as I am impressed by these huge ships I have seen far more being started than finished. What a tragedy! I'd hope this one makes it though, it's already far along and life is long... -

I''m really glad that Cocunut Cape has made it in Series 8! I will be getting one for sure. The lighthouse building is super well done with the bright light orange colour and white accents It will be interesting to see what minifigure selection makes it into the final set; the armour pieces are already removed from the BDP Series 9 palette, and perhaps there not even available for this one; we shall see! It would be awesome to see some minifigures that look like armada soldiers There's a couple of plain areas on the plates, perhaps the designer can add a few stones there, a couple of waves would be nice too. Oh, and hopefully the stairs can be reworked a bit so that minifigures can stand on them... -
Thank you so much! I'm sorry for the late reply, I was actually super busy refining Fortuna. I'm extremely pleased with the improvements, but cannot reveal anything for now. Yes, feel free to use that photo! If you want to have the full history, you could start with that and have the ships that I built for Classic-Pirates and the Pirate MOC Forum as the next stepping stone before the BrickLink Designer Program! Unfortunately, Captain Green Hair's Build a Frigate tutorial is missing as a result of Brickshelf being down. Fortuna is registered for Brickbuilt Sydney (May 31-June 1), and hopefully I can show an updated model then. I was thinking of doing a side-by side comparison of the models from Series 5, 6 & 7 and the pre-production model, but I'm not sure when I can pull this off - it depends on getting permission from BrickLink and the BDP Team. Brickbuilt might be just a tad early; we'll see! The other thing that I was super keen on showcasing is custom fabric sails, and how you can make them to look more realistic than e.g. the productions sails of the Endurance. Ideally, I could have a thus customised Fortuna at Brickvention Australia 2026 where BrickLink would also show the model as an upcoming set. Thank you, I'm pleased to hear that!

Ohh, yes of course! That picture is perfect actually, showing all three ships that I talked about. From left to right: Concordia (competed in Series 3 & 4), Minerva (Series 4 & 5), Fortuna (Series 6 & 7).

Cheers! The Timeline isn't quite accurate - Concordia from Series 3 is an entirely different ship with a different hull shape and techniques etc. I physically built three ships in total over my efforts for the BrickLink Designer Program: Concordia (Series 3), Minerva (Series 4), Fortuna (Series 6). So as I said, Concordia is entirely separate. Fortuna was rebuilt for Series 6, which involved a new and more part-efficient technic frame to free up more pieces for detailing. The hull shape is unchanged from Series 4, but still you would consider it a 'new' ship because the internal structure is different.

Thanks, I am really glad that you like Fortuna! Crowdfunding is set for February 2026 - just that one month! Thank you! I can't control Lego pricing, but I did my best to pack as much detail and a much ship as possible within the part limit! I literally obsessed over every single submodel for the best part usage, stability, looks and build experience! Definitely more sophisticated compared to what you are used to from BDP or even from regular Lego sets! Thank you so much, Marin! It was only because of encouragement from the community that I could keep going! One major difficulty was that the design is so complex that it is hard to change when pieces are dropped from the palette! The redesign needed for Series 6 almost sunk her, but she turned out even better instead! Thank you! I hope you can - there won't be anything like it (historically accurate & minifigure-scale) for some time! The techniques used are also too advance for a regular Lego set! Thanks for the enthusiasm! I hope that the reviews will increase her odds to sell well. The ship is packed with intricate techniques throughout!

Thank you so much! Yeah, it was tough; especially the rebuild that I did for Series 6! It was only because of the great support that I got from the community that I could carry on! Very pirate-y nickname you have there mate! ARRR Well, the first iteration of my frigate was designed as a Bluecoat ship; and I originally only started designing my first frigate for BDP (Concordia for Series 3!) because the Bluecoat torsos were made available! So I definitely had Bluecoats in mind for this ship, and they work really well with her! I'll make a tutorial for custom sails! It's fun to do a little crafting, and they really look great! Thank you so much! Fabric sails out of the box are a no; reason being that Lego doesn't manufacture them but tasks a contractor and the BDP timeline is too short! For a model ship, furled up sails are completely appropriate; and they are also purist - only Lego pieces are used! Keep in mind Fortuna also involves no tying of knots! I will release a tutorial on making custom cloth sails! Thank you! Yes, I started designing my ships with the Eldorado Fortress in mind! Fortuna can in fact dock at the pier of the Eldorado Fortress, so they are fully compatible! Have a look at http://instagram.com/brickperfection Thank you!
