  1. Thank you. It took me a while to think up a good name for it, but then I remembered the lost theme and Bob's your uncle. If you know your history, you might even get a few of the names of the characters featured. For instance: Prince Karl = Karl/Charles VI, Holy Roman Emperor Prince Louis = Louis XVI of France Prince Frederick = Frederick the Great of Prussia Prince George = George III of the United Kingdom ~Furthermore~ Emperor Victor = Gender swap of Queen Victoria Empress Alberta = Gender swap of Prince Albert Carnor is a corruption of the French for "Black Heart", and Herrick is a play on the character Baldrick from Blackadder (Herr/Hair vs. Bald).
  2. Entry# 14: Europa Based off of the original idea, the theme involves a Empire ruled by Emperor Victor the Great, his consort Empress Alberta, and their four sons, Princes Karl, Louis, Frederick, and George. However, the corrupt magistrate Lord Carnor wants the power for himself. Using his skills in alchemy and sorcery, Cornar puts a fit of lunacy under the Emperor, imprisons the Empress, and sends the four princes into hiding, with his secret cronies of highwaymen, rogues, pirates, and scoundrels wreaking havoc across the Empire of Europa. However, Cornar cannot obtain full power until he obtains all four gems of the Crown Jewels, hidden in the Colours of the four main army regiments: the Royal Grenadiers, the Royal Dragoons, the Royal Forest Rangers, and the Royal Fusiliers. Now it is up for the four princes to put a stop to his malignant plans, with Prince Karl in charge of the Northern Mountains and the Royal Grenadiers, Prince Louis in charge of the Eastern Plains and the Royal Dragoons, Prince Frederick in charge of the Western Forests and the Royal Forest Rangers, and Prince George in charge of the Southern Port and the Royal Fusiliers. ~Sets~ 1. 3. It's Cromwell and Mr. Bottomsly from Tales from the Other Railway!
  4. I half wondered when this service would be put in Korean. Felicitations on the day of mockery within the fourth month of the year known as April.
  5. I found the Assets.lif file, but whenever I open the program through Terminal, it just shuts down. What's up with it?
  6. Can't wait to participate. Of course, my model won't look that professional since my computer doesn't support the LDD rendering program.
  7. Fingers crossed on Doctor Who!
  8. Funny you should mention that, since most of the pieces came from 4193 London Escape.
  9. Don't feel too bad. With my very first pirate MOCS, I had to be content with firemen for sailors.
  10. Six years ago I took part in the very first Expand the Winter Village contest here on Eurobricks. Ironically, the set released then and the one released now are remarkably similar. Anyhow, let's hope this one is not at all similar to my entry six years back. Dickens Tavern Based off of Charles Dickens' Christmas stories, this model features a tavern, two snowy trees, and eight minifigures. Inside we see an old farmer keeping up the holiday cheer with a hot cup of grog. Inside is also a barrel of ale and a glass and bottle full of rum. Meanwhile, in the snow, Fred and Janet (named after Scrooge's Niece and Nephew in A Christmas Carol) enjoy a lighthearted flirtatious snowball fight. Ebenezer the Chicken watches with interest. Bill the Carpenter has a chat with Gideon the Innkeeper about building new tables inside, while Bill's dog Cotter wants to chase Ebenezer the chicken around. Alongside the Tavern, a Little Drummer Boy and Little Fifer Boy play music to spread the Christmas cheer. Even though Gideon's cow Gladys can't find any grass, she still swings her tail to the heartwarming music. Lastly, Evans the grocer drops by with a wagon full of carrots, apples, cabbage, fish, sausages, mutton, and bread for everyone's Christmas dinners. His cat Dot is hungry for the fish, but Fann the horse wants to keep going, because a bale of hay awaits her at home. I hope you enjoyed looking at this model as much as I had building it. If you want to see it up close, drop by the LOLUG Brick Show in Lincoln, Nebraska on November 21. In the meantime, Happy Christmas, and as Tiny Tim said, "God bless us, every one." Always entertaining, always inspiring, always:
  11. Not too bad for an entry. Admittedly, some of the minifigs could use hair or hats, but altogether it works. Best of luck!

  14. I was listening to some Glenn Miller swing music today. So, why not have a swing-themed tree with Glenn himself?
  15. I'll take that as a complement, since a good bit of inspiration came from the Adventurers and Orient Expedition sets.
  16. It was surprisingly very good. Probably the best film Blue Sky Studios has ever made. If Schulz were alive today, I'm sure he would have been proud of it.
  17. This Friday I went to see the Peanuts Movie, and the scenes with Snoopy flying his "Sopwith Camel" gave me the inspiration to create another World War I Flying Ace: Most of the parts came from the 5925 Adventurers Pontoon Plane, with a propeller and an engine piece I found lying around. Behind the cockpit there is enough room to store a revolver and a stick of dynamite. "Curse you, Red Baron!" Feel free to post any comments or questions below. Always entertaining, always inspiring, always:
  18. Wasn't the great Dr. Franklin a chronic sufferer of gout and overweight?
  19. Thankfully most of the time, everybody explains to Dr. Maturin what this and that is.
  20. Very good build. I recently did a Historical Analysis of Waterloo earlier this week. Feel free to check it out here:
  21. The Hessians, along with Westphalia, Nassau, Russia, 1st & 2nd King's German Legion, Rifle Brigade, and various regiments of Prussian Light Infantry and Fusiliers.
  22. I don't know why, but I feel partial to Captain Horatio Hornblower starring Gregory Peck. It's not pirates, but it is swashbuckling fun on the high seas.
  23. Here is the link to the trailer for it on YouTube. I overheard on NPR today that it should be in theatres this summer.
  24. If you ever get a chance to come to Omaha, be sure to see the locomotives up close by the Missouri River. A picture is one thing, but the object is another thing altogether.
