  1. I have the Tower Bridge and I love it. It's one of my wont-disassemble sets that sits in my living room permanently. But then I do have a bond with London and TB personally so that helps, but the build is really very impressive. If you have any specific questions about it or want to see certain details, let me know.
  2. I like it, I love pink :-) Do you have a pic of it combined with 10230? I have it high on my wishlist and hope to make some mini modular MOCs myself. Edit: Sorry, didn't check your Flickr page, it looks great with the other mini's!
  3. The biggest problem in Zwolle I thought (when I went in 2009) is the light. Those halls are just so dark, it's hard to take pictures. It would be great if they would have a LEGO event at Expo Haarlemmermeer, that expo building is also used for flower auctions or something and has LOTS of daylight (pretty much all glass roof if I remember correctly), that makes for such better light, nicer atmosphere and it makes things much nicer to look at.
  4. I'm in awe here. This is just terrific work. I love the whole design and the attention to detail. The tooth signs are great and the dentist chair is scarily familiar ;-) I can't wait to see it in brick (though I shudder to think what it will cost.... that's why I'm thinking microscale for myself).
  5. This is great! I'm building the Fire Brigade right now and love the dark red but the orange is terrific here too, works so well with the teal. Love the idea of the boat ramps.
  6. Well, I didn't invent the standard of how these modules connect, it's based on the Micropolis standard by Twinlug But I'm glad you like it :) Did you mean this part? Some of those at the meeting did use those but they were hard to come by so we decided that white tiles would be fine too. TwinLUG actually had the same problem and compromise. There's some pics of the whole micropolis in the link I posted at the end of the OP, and I have a few more here
  7. I love the dark blue and the building looks terrific, love the interior too though I couldn't help but notice a lack of doors and stairs that don't seem to go anywhere ;-) but hey, details details.
  8. As promised in the Intro forum here's my Micropolis MOCs. I made these back in 2009 for the LowLUG meeting where we had a collaborative Micropolis layout. I found it quite addictive and hope to make more of these. I'm pretty sure I've taken them apart, which now I think is a shame but I guess an opportunity to create something new. View from the rear, showing the walking bridge The second module was a small park. Third was a set of houses and a apartment building, roughly based on an existing building in Capelle aan den IJssel. And last was a primary school, which I based on my own primary school (or at least part of that building). The school also had a little interior and a removable roof. And here's a 'map' view of all four modules together. Have a look here for the full meeting layout.
  9. So I just logged in after a rather long absence and noticed I hadn't introduced myself yet. Hi, I'm Karin, 32 from the Netherlands. I go in and out of LEGO dark ages over time. My first post-childhood experience with LEGO was in 2005 when my BF was sick and I bought him a basic box of LEGO to cheer him up, it was a little bit of a joke but we had a lot of fun with it, and I ended up playing with it more than he did. I dove into LEGO online and bought more and more sets, mostly for useable parts. It lasted a few months, when it got pushed back by other hobbies. I had a brief revival at Christmas 2006 when a friend who worked at Maersk gave me the 10152. I made a http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UP2YQkX0CNg]Time lapse[/url] of the build. Then things went back in storage again for a few years, to come back out in 2009, which is when I created an account here. I also went to a LowLUG meeting, for which I made my very first MOCs, 4 units for the cooperative Micropolis we made. I will post the MOCs in the appropriate place soon. I got myself the Cafe Corner days before it sold out, along with the Green Grocer. They are both still on display in my living room, along with the Maersk Sealander. I also had an idea for my own modular which is still WIP but I am still planning to finish at some point. Two years ago the Tower Bridge came along and I just knew that I had to get it. I love London and I once celebrated New Year's on that very bridge. But apart from that set I didn't do any more building. Now that my VIP points from the Tower Bridge were about to expire I went back into the LEGO world, bought the Fire Brigade (at a local store where I got more discount than the VIP points would reward me, bought the Big Ben architecture set instead). Now I'm back into building mode and looking forward to thinking up some creations. I'm particularly interested in microscale. First of, very practical reason, as I have a limited budget, bigger mocs will be more expensive and limited parts in my stash mean I will likely have to buy to complete a model. But also, I really enjoyed creating the Micropolis MOCs back in 2009 and am now very interested in the Mini Modular 'standard' as well. I have been looking around here as well as on the internet in general and I have found that Microscale is not the most popular among MOCers. I still hope to find inspiration here (and perhaps inspire others!) in this genre.
  10. Love it! Can't wait to see the tram going down that street, and for functional/unofficial holes in the wall they sure look good! That is one awesome room, good to see you still have daylight in the basement too!
  11. I have 5 (or 4, not entirely sure right now), 1 in green and the rest grey, all from Bricklink. I think you should have 2 at minimum since it's most useful for separating 2 identically sized plates. Here's a link with the possibilities: http://www.philohome.com/remover/remover1.htm The grey ones are not expensive on BL, you can probably get one or two for less then $1 a piece, even as low as $0.15
