Results of Round Two Battle versus the Maa'ri Goblin Twins: Tesni Hightribe vs. Maa'ri Goblin Engineer - Critical Hit >Alexis Fenral vs. Maa'ri Goblin Demolitionist - Shield (Triple Shot) >Hoke Ablesword vs. Artillery Cart - Shield (Sentinel) Haldor Skovgaard vs. Artillery Cart - Damage >Ellaria Arbour heals Tesni - Shield (Miracle) Ellaria's prayer to her deity worked as the party gained the upperhand. Although her fury subsided, Tesni's intimidation tactic caused the goblin to panic giving her the opportunity to score a critical hit. The gem in her blade doubled the damage against the engineer(70dmg!). Weary from the constant puking, Alexis reached for an arrow. Her vision blurred by her own tears, Alexis instead pulled three arrows and let them fly. Each hit a goblin for 19 damage and 38 damage to the cart thanks to her topaz infused bow. Haldor still puzzled by how best defeat the unmanned artillery cart, trips and falls. Before he can bump his elbow to receive 1 damage from the cart, Ablesword, ever the sentinel throws his shield like a captain. The buckler wedges itself between the ground and the cart allowing Haldor to slide safely to the ground. Hoke recovers his shield and again takes up the sentinel position as he's too afraid to face the goblins. Ellaria receives a miracle restoring everyone to full health! Unfortunately the miracle didn't cure Alexis of her poisoned condition so she takes 1 point of damage. Three enemies remain so the battle continues. Enemies: Maa'ri Goblin Engineer - "OWWIEE!   3. En Sabah Nur winced as Erdathcath was peppered with arrows. He smiled briefly at Ratibor's current target orders. As much as he wanted to slowly smash his opponent with multiple blunt stones, Nur knew this fight needed to be ended quickly. "I shall attack Mirror Alf with a light spell from the back row." The mage hoped Ennoc was still in his corner.

The barbarian enters a battle frenzy and damages each target. Cysgodion's dark aura allows Tesni to do 36 damage to each goblin! Taking advantage of the goblin's surprise at the barbarian's might, Haldor approaches the artillery cart. He scratches his head trying to figure out the best way to dismantle it. Alexis hits her target but the goblin shrugs off the damage. Ellaria takes a step back to remedy herself. Too afriad to engage his foe, Hoke steps back but finds the strength to raise his shield to protect his allies the next round. Haldor attempts to disable the unmanned artillery cart but sets off its special instead. KA-BOOM! (Tesni -9, Alexis -4, Hoke -2, Ellaria -4, Haldor -6) Alexis takes 1 point of damage from being poisoned. Three enemies remain so the battle continues.   5. Nur visibly sulked as his chance to freely inflict pain on Alf without remorse was taken away by Ratibor's command. "Jensen, would ye mind stepping in front of me and going first? No? Ok. I will attack Mirror Nur from the back row with an Earth spell. "I hope you're right about that evil you not hitting anything, Ratibor...Wait, if he's your opposite, doesn't that mean he'll hit ALL the time. Uh oh." En Sabah Nur gulped and adjusted his helmet.

  7. Nur began his search and stopped at the mirror. He sighed heavily at his reflection. "This helm is heavy. If the provost doesn't make me return it, perhaps I shall give it to that ugly cleric Haldor. With his mug covered he'll look tougher and that elf will want to give him some babies..." The mage adjusted his helmet and continued to search for clues.
  8. Exactly. It's either weaken the weapons/heroes or strengthen the bad guys. Almost all in party have strong gem enhanced weapons. I want to see more of a need for clerics healing in combat and potions being used. No more resting! I'd have to look at my notes but I think every battle has some means of damaging those who attempt to sit out for a round. @Peppermint_M: haha Shoot first ask questions later!
  9. "Ah, yes. Look what I found." Nur chuckled nervously as Jensen stared in his direction. "I know this will come in handy, thank you." Nur's mind flashed back to the ceiling that collasped on him during the Donny Dozenhands mission and the tripwire he failed to see. "Let's hope I remember to use it." "Where to again, the Faculty Offices?"
  10. Following the LEFT path, the party hears two voices as they make their way through the yard. "Grr, how long did they want us to wait here for?" "You know they wanted us to be on the look out for Szalinski's heroes. We've been out here for too long. He told us he'd send someone else in if we took too long. Hey, who's that? Get 'em!" Results of Shrinking Sickness in Battle versus Goblin Twins: Tesni Hightribe - Cured Haldor Skovgaard - Sealed Alexis Fenral - Poisoned Ellaria Arbour - Sealed Hoke Ablesword - Afraid As Tesni's heart rate increased, she began to feel the effects of Shrinking Sickness take hold. True to her barbarian fortitude, she manages to resist the effect and shakes off the Shrinking Sickness in its entirety! Unfortunately her team mates aren't quite so lucky. Haldor's eyes widen in horror as his lips magically fuse shut. Ellaria panicks as she feels the smooth surface where her mouth had been. Alexis vomits uncontrollably as she becomes poisoned. Young Ablesword is stricken with an uncontrollable fear that sends him hiding behind his comrades. WIth their healing ability removed, can our heroes win the encounter? PREPARE FOR BATTLE!   12. "Well Erdathcath it appears we're too late or nobody's been here all night. I'm ready to go to the Faculty Offices Ratibor." En Sabah Nur walked around the table and flipped through a few pages of a random book. His eyes locked on one of the magnifying glasses used for reading. Nur peeked at his companions before he attempted to pocket a magnifying glass.
  13. Trusting the elf's magic compass wasn't also affected by the Microfigunator 7268, the party ventured straight ahead. The firm dirt gave way to a sandy gravel as the treeline, er, grassline receded. Again, the party is faced with choice, LEFT or RIGHT?
  14. Alexis' compass flickered briefly before pointing straight ahead.
  15. Me too. I love the riddles and puzzles QMs throw in. Unfortunately I'm not too good at solving (or creating) them.
  16. "Sounds fine." Nur trades Ratibor 1 tonic for a grand tonic.
  17. As Erdathcath continued her questioning, En Sabah Nur whispered to Ratibor. "Well done handling those boys. I was about to draw my blade to get them to speak. You're a wise one, cleric. It's a good thing we have you leading this quest."
  18. "I'll leave that up to your experienced discretion." "I see. With one, er two accomplished clerics in your group, I'm sure that trait won't be needed... or will it? . Time's-a-wastin'! On with the show!" Szalinksi offers one last tidbit of advice before turning on his machine. "There are some known side effects that take effect seconds before engaging in physical activity." "SIDE EFFECTS?!" Szalinski's Microfigunator 7268 whirs and beeps as it is activated. The gnomish inventor shouts after the party. "Oh ho ho, nothing too serious though. You should be fine...really!" The party is hit with a bright blue beam of energy. The adventurers feel tingly as the blades of grass grow as tall as trees. Everyone doubles over with a nausea that miraculously fades quickly. Shall they go, LEFT or STRAIGHT? QM NOTE: ATTENTION HEROES! You've been stricken with Shrinking Sickness! It causes a random effect to take hold of your hero for an entire battle! Before every battle a roll will be made for each character to determine which effect from the list below you will receive. Shrinking Sickness cannot be remedied although the effects listed below can be. Shrinking Sickness Effects 1 - Afraid - The target flees to the back row in terror and stays there until the effect is remedied or the battle is over. 2 - Encouraged - The target inflicts double damage until the battle is over. 3 - Poisoned - The target loses 1 health each turn until the effect is remedied or the battle is over. 4 - Sealed - The target is unable to cast spells or use healing abilities until the effect is remedied or the battle is over. 5 - Cured - Cured of Shrinking Sickness! 6 - No effect Good luck heroes!
  19. The warming light burst forth from the mage too easily. It flowed more freely than his earthen spells. He felt like someone else was in control. It was as if another being was channeling the magic through him. En Sabah Nur glanced at the cleric and decided that Ennoc was simply using him as a weapon. Directing Ratibor's fervor through his body. It could explain their performance in battle so far. Nur lowered his head in thought as the party's quest continued.

  21. "All I can tell you is that they are a standard balanced party of mercenaries I hired. I know less about them than I do about your group from Heroica. You'd be better of asking a member of their own team. But I can tell ye that when ye face them, be prepared to make use of your job traits. Except for maybe you, barbarian. What does your kind do again...?" Szalinski skitters over to his device and takes some notes. "Ah, you must be that astute cleric I've heard so much about." Haldor mumbles a curse under his breath. "Once I receive more funding and the proper materials, I will need to hire on a keen mind like yours to help me perfect the Microfigunator 7268. If ye see me again after this mission, I will definitely be looking ye up." Szalinski stares blankly for an awkwardly long period of time. "Mr. Szalinski, the children?" "Ohhh my yes! You must locate Nico, Oliveri, and Ameli. Nico is the middle child. He's a sensitive lad...hopefully you'll figure out a way to cheer him up. Oliveri is me youngest. He has an adventurer's spirit. Hopes to join up at the Hall one day. He won't go anywhere without his absurb red and white hat. And me eldest is Ameli. She's a bit, shall we say friendly?" Szalinski turned to the rest of the party. "Yes, return to the starting location when you're done. An alarm will alert me to unshrink you." Szalinski, mistaking Hoke's look of suspicion as interest, gains a sudden burst of energy. "Quite impressive, ain't she. She works through a precise combination of magic, alchemy and engineering. As a result I've had to make nice with multiple Eubric factions. Can't get into the specifics as the patent is still pending. Now, is there anything else ye'd like to know?"

They see a sign with an arrow that reads, "Heroes, come on back." Upon reaching the backyard the team sees who can only be their employer pacing incessantly. "Welcome, Welcome! I'm glad yer here. Come,come and behold the greatest invention of all time! I've put it together with whatever materials I could afford but recently the Ji Pei have shown interest in funding my work." The gnomish inventor ushers the party along. He adjusts his spectacles and points his index finger in the air before drawing back a large curtain. "I am Moranis Szalinski and I call this the Microfigunator 7268! It's capable of shrinking and unshrinking bricks and minifigs alike!" "As the notice said, me youngins somehow activated the device, shrank themselves down and got themselves lost in me backyard! I've managed to isolate their location within a small sandy corner of me yard bordering me neighbor's home. It's a bit of a maze back there. I used the Microfigunator 7268 to shrink down some items and scattered them throughout the yard for me youngins. If ye should discover them feel free to use them to help in yer search for me children!" Szalinski paused and looked to his feet before his eyes widen. "Ah, I almost forgot. I've sent another group of adventurers ahead but they're taking too long. You may or may not run into them. I don't care which party returns first but only the team who rescues all my children will receive the promised reward. Be advised that all my children must be IN GOOD CONDITION before I return you to normal size. Now, do ye have any questions for me? My wife will be home soon..." What will the party ask of the concerned father?
  24. "Aye, let us continue." The mage adjusted his helmet then removed a small mirror from his pouch. "I look absolutely ridiculous...At least it suits you well, Ratibor."
  25. Pushing his luck, Nur drew his blade and decided to attack Living Armour E from the front row.
