  1. "Aye," confirmed Atramor with a nod to the peg-legged old man. "But if ya' ever get to Quests like that, you''ll find it's not as easy as ya' say." He turned his head to Dyric. "Good to see ya' too, mate. And no. Don't care for her to anyway."
  2. Effects work different from heroes and enemies. If that was the case, enemies would be eternally stunned, they never get turns at all.
  3. Hmm...I'm not sure. The definition of stunned is 'The target loses its next turn', and counterstriking isn't exactly a turn.
  4. Round One of Jagged Hills Jam Docken uses Darksteel Crossbow on Tygurah, back row - Special Damage: Thunderous Roar (36/2 - 25 = 0 damage, Docken is afraid) Benji uses Crossbow of the Pongcanis on Mountain Goat B, back row - Hit (39 x 2 - 4 = 74 damage, Mountain Goat B poisoned) Xander uses Precision Bow on Mountain Goat C, back row - Aim Hit (39 x 3 - 4 = 113 damage) Thormanil uses Frozen Sabre on Mountain Goat A, front row - Special Damage: Rampage (All heroes stunned) Althior is no longer stunned Red Rattlesnake A uses free hit on Docken - (24/2 - 25 = 0 damage) Red Rattlesnake B uses free hit on Benji - (24/2 - 7 = 5 damage) Red Rattlesnake C uses free hit on Xander - (24/2 - 5 = 7 damage) Red Rattlesnake D uses free hit on Thormanil - (24 - 3 = 21 damage) Red Rattlesnake E uses free hit on Althior - (24/2 - 4 = 8 damage) Mountain Goat B is poisoned - (1 damage) Benji and Xander land good hits on the first two goats, but the final tramples the entire party. 5. "Ya' give her too much credit, Dyric," interjected Atramor from his nearby table, pulling an empty rum bottle away from his lips and wiping his mouth with the back of his hand. "Those who decided they'd die in her name were screwed up to begin with. They just found they all had common goals together under her banner." He'd taken quiet note of his most recent former questmates - Skrall, Hoke, Nyx, Haldor, Dyric, Alexis. Their lack of any real joy in Wren's defeat wasn't unexpected, obviously it was too much for him to expect any kind of celebrating after it. Heroing wasn't as nearly as predictable or simplistic as he once thought.
  6. I'm talking about your suspicions. I'm saying that if any of the people you call out die and turn up whatever faction, it won't have any effect on your suspicions because your suspicions are drawn out in red and blue instead of scum and town. Who are you trying to find, Li'l Chromeknight? You're not trying to find scum, obviously, or you'd have more conviction in your suspicions. Maybe you're just looking for the masons, or the other scum. (In relation to my implication that you're one of of the scum teams.) People working with other people doesn't help us there at all. Vote: Li'l Chromknight. Zepher, if your analysis matches up with Li'l Chromknight's, can you draw us all up a friggin' legend or something so we know who he thinks is and isn't scum?
  7. Genius, you can't be proven right or wrong. You've perfected the art of throwing out suspicions and yet still looking as indecisive as possible. You're looking at things from a very scummy perspective. You seem more concerned with who's on who's team rather than who's scummy and who's not.
  8. The narcoleptic party catches another nap. They then return to and push past the Howling Hills and into the JAGGED PASS It's a narrow, rock canyon that brings them right to the foot of the a dim, shadowy mountain. Thick, reddish clouds conceal the vast majority of the peak, but the party knows well enough what they'll find up there. There's only one final group of beasts seeking to end their pursuit - beasts that lunge down from the sides of cliffs as soon as the party begins to move through the pass. PREPARE FOR BATTLE! 9. Masked already took that out of the Ranger base health, which is actually 6, though.
  10. The Assassin bonus? If that's the case, you should have 48 health.
  11. - Magic 8 Ball [unlike them, I don't have definitive answers. From Hinck.]
  12. Atramor's brief look over the Questboard yielded no new requests for heroes, so instead he sat at the next most logical location for him to be at; in a chair, half a bottle of rum in his hand. It was surprisingly quiet, especially without a chicken pecking at some corn or making irritating observations of his views on life. He grumbled, and pulled Ratsbane out of his belt, looking over the blade dully. It still had the purpose he'd created it for - killing vermin, obviously - but now it felt like all he was carrying around was guilt. It wasn't even all that powerful anymore anyway. He stuffed it into his cloak. Maybe instead of carrying around a bunch of toothpicks he should invest in a real weapon.
  13. Is that your entire Quest write-up, Zepher? No wonder I can't focus long enough to write one myself, I write out almost every single little thing of dialogue. Thanks. Though I suspect most of the reason I ended up where everything was happening is because I was a healer for most of the Quest. This Quest has shaped a lot of Atramor's course, which is pretty convenient as I plan for him to go Regulator. And accidentally killing Hans and Gnash as well as Felton's revelation pretty much forced him to understand that Chaos isn't just some random word Wren uses to justify killing a bunch of people. I actually was tentatively planning McCafferey to leave, but since I've decided to choose Regulator, I now have to justify the Orderly side of things, so she'll be back soon enough. I'm glad you like that side story, I was worried that I was kind of forcing it too much, but her appearances are directly related to how often Atramor screws up, and he got KO'd like six times this Quest... Out of curiosity...were we really supposed to use the super Bomb XX on the Floor? It does damage to use, too, you know, that would've killed all of us.
  14. Yay, I'm a target the mayor. Chromeknight, you've got quite a bit to answer for, with these broken promises of suspicions and more activity and bandwagoning. Bring forward some of these suspects you keep mentioning. All I've seen from you is a lot of indecisiveness inactivity, not unlike Li'l Danny.
  15. Absolutely awesome roleplaying from both of you.
  16. The thralls are insta-killed by it, yes. But bear in mind that it's unlikely for a Mystic to have more than one or two thralls at a time, especially if a Shield is even rolled, and enemies immune to insta-kill obviously wouldn't die as a result. Plus, if the enemies have low health, that makes very low damage against the enemy party, which is balanced out by the insta-kill in a good way. Plus, don't forget, that means all thralls are spent. That's potentially 5 ether down the drain because a Shield was rolled early in a thrall's enthrallment. Think of it like a backwards Blood Ritual. Except you're killing enemies instead of allies.
  17. Rest in peace, Li'l Pala. I'd make a rest in pieces joke, but he was (unbelievably) town. Damn it, the conditions were just perfect for it, we tore off both his legs. Oh well. Mayor: CallMePie. We draw ever closer to the point where it matters who the mayor is, and I'm willing to (seemingly, judging by the late Li'l CM and Cecilie) put my life on the line to make sure it's a townie.
  18. I thought I'd start tossing up more class ideas, I'm kinda bored and I've got a Word document full of the things. MYSTIC These manipulative magi use their enemies to fight their battles for them. · Additional Ether: +10 · Weapons: Mystics make use of mystic weapons like staves, wands, scythes, whips, and hammers, in addition to scrolls and gems. · Job Traits: Spellcasting: (See Mage), Bewitch: Mystics can spend ether to charm people even outside of battle, Mystic Respite: Mystics automatically regain ether equal to one quarter of their level after battles, rounded up. · Battle Style: Beguiling: Mystics channel ether to mesmerize their opponents, but cannot attack physically. 1. SHIELD: Atonement: The mystic sacrifices any and all thralls they currently have under their control, causing damage equal to their combined health divided evenly among the enemy party, with no remainder. If the mystic has no thralls, they turn the target into their thrall for the next five rounds. This does not deplete ether. 2. GREATER SPELL/GREATER ENTHRALL: The mystic spends 1 ether to cast an elemental spell with strength equal to twice their weapon power added to their level. Alternatively, the mystic can spend 5 ether to turn the target into their thrall for the next five rounds. 3. SPELL/ENTHRALL: The mystic spends 1 ether to cast an elemental spell with strength equal to their weapon power added to their level. Alternatively, the mystic can spend 3 ether to turn the target into their thrall for the next three rounds. 4. MEDITATE/LESSER ENTHRALL: The mystic focuses to regain 1 ether. Alternatively, the mystic can spend 1 ether to turn the target into their thrall for the next round. 5. SHARED DAMAGE: The mystic is struck by the opponent’s attack, but the damage is divided equally among them and their thralls. 6. SPECIAL DAMAGE: The mystic is struck by the opponent’s special skill. Thralls · When an opponent is enthralled, all rolls of Damage, Special Damage, and Free Hits for it are negated for the rest of round. For the rest of the round and the duration of enthrallment, the thrall is considered a member of the party, and the Mystic has control over it. Thralls can only be made to do nothing or attack an opponent. 1. SPECIAL SKILL: The thrall’s special skill is activated, directed at the target’s party, with the thrall and/or the mystic’s party receiving any benefits attached. 2. CRITICAL STRIKE: The thrall deals damage equal to twice their level. 3. STRIKE: The thrall deals damage equal to their level. 4. MISS: The thrall misses their attack. 5. DAMAGE: The thrall is struck by the opponent’s attack. 6. SPECIAL DAMAGE: The thrall is struck by the opponent’s special skill. My main worry is that it's too similar to Necromancer, but I think the flavor is different enough for it to be viable. Shared Damage stems from Jeb's Warlock idea. It originally just had normal Damage and Special Mirror, but I thought it was more interesting this way...I figured giving it healing capabilities would only add to the similarities of Necromancer, and whereas Necromancer is mainly support, the Mystic uses all of its powers for offense, more like Evoker than anything. I'm unsure whether to allow physical attacks, I purposely made it a very squishy class so that they'd be more dependent on Ether than Health, especially with Shared Damage, not to mention thralls make very suitable Free Hit absorbers. Hopefully the immense Ether burn due to a lack of physical attacks would balance it out.
  19. Maybe...but if the elemental multiplier is 0, you can apply the Favored multiplier and it would make no difference. 39 x 0 x 3 is still 0. You have a good point though, I hadn't thought about that. But as long as you're smart with what gems you imbue his weapon with, the massive multipliers you could have would be worth it, I think.
  20. Multipliers do stack and balance. So a gem with a x2 multiplier against a certain type of monster and a gem ineffective against the same type (a x0 multiplier) would actually balance out to no multiplier at all, or a x1 multiplier. Two gems effective against the same type of monster will stack to a x4 multiplier. Two gems ineffective against the same type of monster remains at x0. A Hunter's Favored type of monster is a completely separate multiplier that will take place no matter what.
  21. Round Eight of Howling Hills Hellraising Docken uses Darksteel Crossbow on Electriphant, back row - Shield: Aura (Docken's health doubled, draws all attacks) Benji uses Crossbow of the Pongcanis on Electriphant, back row - Damage (Drawn to Docken, 0/2 - 25 = 0 damage) Xander uses Precision Bow on Electriphant, back row - Shield: Marking the Favored (39 x 3 = 117 damage, Electriphant KO'd, Xander can Mark Electric) Thormanil does nothing Althior does nothing Althior continues doing nothing Cerebus uses free hit on Docken - (33/2 - 25 = 0 damage) Docken counterstrikes - (29/2/2 = 8 damage) Xander's arrow pierces the Electriphant's eye and seems to settle somewhere in its head. 22. Repetition was one other thing I didn't like. I like how there were different enemy NPCs to talk to at each spire, but like WBD says, it feels like we just did the same thing over and over. She left about halfway through the Quest.
  23.  For all my bitching about the battles, I had fun. I think ultimately the problem is that you set it up to where we have to get good rolls to even survive, where most of the time, if you're smart, you can scrape by on bad rolls. And, well, it's hard to craft battles for that when you have sixteen characters to roll for.
