  1. the quality of these figures is horrible. they have a strange foul odor. almost like rotten eggs. it's not strong but you can definitely smell it if you hold them next to your nose. and the legs are not even. the left is usually about 0.5mm shorter than the right. it's noticeable if you line them up on the stand. there is a gap on one foot. the colors are also not of the usual lego palettes. they are a little transparent and darker than usual. like the magnet sets. see the red imperial guards to see what i mean. the clown's torso is of the same material. transparent and darker red than usual. if you are buying for parts, it'll be hard to mix with your regular higher quality figures, but if you are using them whole then it's a little better. will be strange lining these next to the higher quality figures.
  2. like what escortmad79 said, once sold out, series 1 is gone for good. i would just buy them from BL if they are cheaper or just go to your nearest borders and get what you want before they are gone. fyi, series 2 will start in august, or in about 2 months. by then series 1 won't be sold anymore and if you want any by then, you know BL sellers will be jacking up the price even more. these are meant to sell out very quickly like the vintage minifigs series and not your regular sets. i missed out on the earlier vintage minifigs too.
  3. people asking about how rare they are, just look at blueandwhite's post. depending on how people in your area are buying them (eg. some prefer zombies, others the clowns, etc) the rarer figures are those in 3s. i was able to get 7 complete sets and rifling through the boxes i can say i agree with this assessment. skater was particularly hard for me to complete. next were the cheerleader, clown, westler, nurse. in my area, the dummies, magicians and ninjas were available by the bucketload. all of my purchase were from borders using the 25% off everything coupon ($2.24 after coupon). a bit of a mark up but still cheaper than getting from S@H with that insane limit and shipping charge or from TRU now with their mark ups ($2.49 ea). i still left plenty on the shelves and counters. like the 12 dummies, 10 magicians and 8 ninjas. oh, and i got 2 more boxes coming from EE. that is when they still have for pre-order. i don't see what the fuss is about though... plenty of bricklink stores from germany selling for $2 each (the germans must have cornered the euro market since S@H is sold out in EU). buy from them and just peddle the extras.
  4. i think they should just fire the QC guy and hire a battle-hardened afol to test their chinese manufacturer!
  5. target.com is having a 15% off $125 on selected lego sets. The imperial flagship was one of the items (unfortunately sold out by 6am EST!) stack with coupon TGTREACT for another 15% off (one time use only per account and on gross amount. you will need to set up a new target account (I am guessing new credit card and new email) to activate the coupon. Use bing cashback (bing.com and use keyword search "walmart hdtv") for another 10% off. Total discount achievable is 37% (30% + 10% on net amount) and free shipping. At this point in time, best sets are the POP battle of alamut set and TS3 western train chase set. 30% off is guaranteed with free shipping and you can get another 10% off from BCB. Note: when using BCB make sure you don't alter the order in any way or you will void the CB. you also need to wait 60 days to get the cashback. there is a chance that microsoft will void your cashback too.
  6. poor guy... seems like TLG is competing with you. maybe you had better go for heavy firearms instead. at least TLG will never touch brickarms!
  7. kmart has a very interesting led torchlight with key-chain in the shape of a minifig. available in red and blue for $10. it is about 4x larger than the standard minifig. almost like a duplo figure.
  8. it really depends on the condition which unfortunately is hard to figure out from the small pics. generally classic space doesn't command as much as classic castle, so $200 is really stretching it. it'll be a good buy if the indicated sets are near complete and in better than average condition (few dents and scratch marks on the parts). unfortunately the real value of the sets (the minifigs) are in such small pics, you really can't see if they have heavy bite marks or in near mint condition... the condition will determine the price...not the set itself.
  9. i wouldn't be too worried. the set is still in the 2010 catalog so you can still get it at RRP for at least 6 more months.
  10. TRU is selling home one for $140 until 24th. and the seperatist shuttle for $32.50 for monday (21st) one day only sale.
  11. clearly applying grocery standards to toys. the sell by date is 2 weeks. but $2 discount is hardly clearance i must say. make it 50% then we can talk.
  12. i think it's the 10210 that blew your budget apart!
  13. for those of u interested in power miners, the underground mining station is on sale in tru for $59.99. 3 days only - 27 to 29 nov. that's cheaper than even us pricing!
  14. nice, but you gotta change the figurehead to something else too!
  15. i remember grabbing the last of the ij temple and troll fortress 2 weeks ago but last sunday (4 days ago) i went shopping and saw like 4 ij temples and 2 troll fortresses. not sure where they came from...either stockroom or perhaps unpaid laybys. this morning the temples and fortresses were gone but i saw 2 at-ots behind the layby counter. must have just missed those to whoever went to the store at 6am. i thought the at-ots are now down to $90? if still at $150 in the bondi store then you're badly ripped off! if $90, with the current sale becomes $135 for 2!! even better than previously $144.50 for one. lol... is there any ij temple or troll fortress left in BJ? i might make a trip tomorrow if so!
  16. thanks svelte! i woke up late this morning and missed out on all the troll fortress, indy temple and at-ot sets. the tag for the venice set was still at $60... and i didn't even bother to check the price. if you hadn't post, i would have missed out on this too! i missed out on the fighter plane...but meh, it's not that interesting anyway. next on my target, the venator rep cruiser! already marked down to $165.
  17. if you need something just let me know. i can hold a few sets for you. you can always use the train on sundays for funday price and pick up then. only the troll fortress is on sale...not the rest of the castle sets. going to wait for more indy jones and perhaps SW sales! was quite tempted with the crawler crane but i don't collect construction sets... the threads though would have been compelling reasons to get but... i reckon the price is going to go down even more as the set is not particularly popular with consumers. what's interesting is that even SW sets aren't selling as quickly as previous years. plenty of hoth and droid tank left.
  18. was quite tempted but only bought the temple of doom, troll fortress and another AT-OT. was going to wait for more % on the doom and troll but i'm a sucker for nice minty box editions. quite a few boxes have been trashed...accident or otherwise. i'll check again on monday since it seems that's when they cut the price further on clearanced items. there's another death star in the kmart - marked at 599. with the sale comes to around 509. box is quite trashed though. don't worry, LT. '10 will be back to a slow year due to lower quality, and poorer designed sets. i'm loading up on 09 sets in hope of selling them in '10.
  19. get city corner from kmart for $65. i'm going to get the IJ clearance sets on thursday for a further 15% off! maybe even 2 temple of doom. kalimaaaaa kalimaaaaa!!!
  20. these are probably made by the retailers under license from TLG for australia market. not sure if you notice there's also lots of version of the play table and play mat that are not available elsewhere. TRU has it's own version of the play table and play mat... same with big w and kmart. frankly, i don't like them. the legs are funnily attached to the torso, the hip is missing, the proportions do not match (head too small, body's angle too sharp like a triangle and not trapezoidal, legs are massive like hulk legs). also could use sturdier hats instead (e.g. with cardboard or foam insert). probably cost them about $2-3 to manufacture in china (it is made in china, i'm not racist!) and sell for $25 or $18 on "sale"! lol...
  21. at my kmart, someone stolen all the hats, so all the plushies are hatless. no i didn't steal them... don't think it was such a good idea to make them removable.
  22. nah, you don't need to decode. just enter the claim code no in the claim your prize section and if it shows error you know you didn't win.
  23. damn... i bought the at-ots on a single receipt. need 2 seperate receipt to join the bricktober game.
