Aussie sales! Share the news of LOCAL sales!

if you met me, i wouldn't tell you my screen-name either. lol we know 450 is the inflated-to-make-the-sale-look-good price. 300 is the more reasonable price. though i should have waited or used layby. i got one then at 300. it's quite odd with the drastic price cut so early. they must have tons in stock. even the at-at didn't reach this % until mar/apr of this year. agreed! mad props to darkness for finding the deal of the year! <-- 2 thumbs up... -

ops...i underestimated the shipping cost. thanks for the tip! i got 2 10195 for $144.50 ea as well. at that price it's just crazy...> 50% cheaper than the july toy sale... waiting for the death star to drop 50% too! i can only dream... -

there were 2 death star sets in the kmart near me. priced at $649 with the 15% discount came up around $550. given the recent str of the AUD, it's still more expensive than if you import directly from the US. -

this week, kmart is having a lackluster 15% off lego sale. anyone spotted any 30% sale recently? -
just bough a fort legoredo but unsure if it's mib
natelite replied to gol's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
MIB = mint in box MISB = mint in SEALED box. usually the latter refers to factory sealed. So if yours said mib, it can mean it was opened, put together one and carefully stored. as long as the bricks are in new condition, it can be listed as mint in box. Looking at your picture, it seems you got a misb version. Not just that, but the box itself looks very clean. mint in mint box... :D -

retail margin is quite high. a quick search shows around 35-38%. for big retailers the margin should be larger since TLG would give kickbacks and incentives or deals for achieve sales target etc. problem is we aren't sure the 35-38% discount is applied to which MSRP price. the ATOT was priced quite differently several times before. for them to start the discount so early would suggest to me that they are still making profit. i dont see any atot and death star in the kmart near me though. -

the plushes are in already. stop by your local kmart for a glimpse. nothing interesting though...the usual, policeman, fireman, hardhat construction worker and a mf with lego plastered on it. you can remove the hats and rotate the arms. -
they can't make a giant rancor or wampa because if they are too much like the hasbro version they will get sued. they aren't supposed to even make figure packs...that's why they are now being sued for the battle packs. rancor and wampa will need to be brick-built... and that brings up the question of appropriateness. hard to put a rancor into a selling set. same with wampa. will look too thrown together...

family home creator set is way overpriced. the aussie price is > 2x the us price. that's unheard of except for selected few SW sets. i would wait a little. as for the power miners base set, i thought i saw a few in target. if desperate, get them now from the target toysale for 20% d/c. otherwise i would wait for kmart or myer (for 25-30% off). i'm going to wait for kmart sale for the echo/droid tank sets. yeah, i'm cheap. -

it is of course the illusion that counts. the average consumer wouldn't think to measure, so if the box is big, they will be willing to pay more. btw, TRU also selling the venator for $249. talk about ripping off ignorant shoppers... -
well, after so many positive comments, let me be the first with a negative. $150 for 5 figures?! the smiling face of capt antilles is nice and will be popular with mocers but such a simple face? that face should have been introduced in a battle pack as a normal rebel soldier. and $150 for 1400 pieces is clearly the hallmark of a sw set. if you look closer, it's mostly made up of greeble pieces. so it's probably closer to $100 if it didn't have the SW tag on it. sorry... only 5 figures and nothing special... i'm saving my money until it comes down to $100. it's not like i'm lacking anything to buy. the endor, home one and hoth sets are sound purchase... this isn't.

they say it's 30% but in reality it's more like 20%. dooku's sailer will now sell for $80 down from $115! whee... well, this is at least good for the impulse sets. just hope they don't remove them or mark them up some more. glad i waited. in this market those who waited win! wish i had waited for the MMV. lol... -

not interested. TRU sucks. edit: actually i just figured out what i can use the coupon for! impulse sets! tru has much better selection and usually has plenty so they don't run out that quickly. other places usually run out by the time any sales event started. the only catch is that tru goes out and hide them. -
if only the t-shirt comes in plain colors. the stripe makes it look ugly. that's pretty cool, sewing it to another garment. i wonder why lego never thinks of selling "iron-on" motives. they would have been quite the hit and sell out fast, i bet! decaling for the fans! lol...

aw damnit...now you make me feel bad not buying this set.

REVIEW: 8970 Robo Attack
natelite replied to Dark Wanderer's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
nice. it's a pretty good set especially the retro mecha. packed with play feature and quite nicely built too. i suppose it is easier to make a villain's mech and a goodguy's mech since you can make it ugly. wonder if agents 3.0 will have a smaller agent mech to fight with this bad megablocks. -

yup, that's what's written there. in 2 weeks if you find a cheaper price elsewhere they will match it...even if on layby. -

kmart allows price matching for layby items. so if you layby'ed at $349, you can get it reduced to $299. it said so in the catalog/leaflet. -

possibly. thought the price was dropped quite early on, so i think this was preplanned. i agree with siggy...most likely this was a sneaky marketing ploy... cut the price by more than advertised and more ppl will jump on board thinking the cut is temporary. how about the death star? anyone layby that? was it for the advertised $599 or was it lower? -

Not even TRU has it. you're outta luck. you can try bttw.com.au but they raised the price to $199. is it really? i see bttw.com.au and toycorner raise prices all the time. MSRP stands for manufacturer's "suggested" retail prices after all. i'm sure they allow +/- 20% markup or down from that price point. besides that, bttw and toycorner regularly mark up discontinued sets to BL prices... sometimes even more.
