Technic doubts...

Sad to hear that part doesn't exist... It would've made my life a lot easier! BTW, what about Shock Absorbers 9,5L? What is their resistance? -
Technic doubts...
Scorpion posted a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hi there! First time poster on the Technic forums, but a long time fan... I have some pressing questions regarding some Technic elements, and I thought you guys could help me out... First of all, From which set does this part come from? I desperately need to know! Second, regarding Shock Absobers (6,5L), what is the difference between Soft, Normal and Hard Spring? Which is best for a heavy vehicle? Thanks in advance! Scorpion -
Sorry, my mistake...

I just absolutly the jeep that comes with the Airplane! Is it me or somebody in the design team loves the Willis MB? (AKA WWII US Army Jeep) Why oh why isn't it a standalone set? I would buy the s#$@ out of it! Oh well, I guess I'll just have to wait for the instructions to come out and counterfeit it!

Simply. F***in'. Amazing. How the hell did you make the cannon elevation system? Amazing. This goes on my Facebook!

Here! They were my very first space sets, and I loved them! I think the name pretty much sums up what it was all about!

Sci-fi builders, do you prefer angles or curves

Interesting design! What movie is it from? 2010? -
Sci-fi builders, do you prefer angles or curves
Scorpion replied to fr33manator's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Angles, definitly! Gimme big, sharp, blocky angles everyday of the week and twice on Sunday! fr33manator, I like your reasoning and I 100% agree with it! Oh how I long for those old octogonal cockpits and the other 90's space cockpits... -
There are something that annoy me regarding AC, some of which relate to AC itself, other span other lego themes aswell. First of all, the disparity among sets. If you want ADU vehicles, you're tough out of luck. You can either get the XBOXHUEG ADU command vehicle or Jetcopter or the tiny, tiny ADU jeep. You want something in-between, you're out of luck. Now the aliens are more evenly distributed: you got the tiny scout, the medium tripod and the XBOXHUEG "mothership". I hate to be a grumpy old man (oh, who am I kidding? I love it! xD), but that's one of the reasons I hate two-faction themes. Look at any early 90's catalogue: when you had a one faction theme, you would have atleast one model in each category. Look at M-Tron's or Blacktron II's roster! There are vehicles of every type in all sizes, from small to huge, we all could get something we wanted... Then there's the models themselves... This is tangentially related to my previous point. I mean, look at the ADU headquarters. It has 3 vehicles: the main ground vehicle, the UFO and the jetfighter. The UFO and the Jetfighter would be terrific vehicles in their own right, and it's a shame we don't have anything else on catalogue (well, appart from the tripod, I guess) that's similar that we could buy if we didn't want to plonk down 90€ for the ADU HQ... The main vehicle in the set doesn't do it for me. The design is uninspired and too big for what it does... Double goes for the mothership. Take a page from the early 90's. Then, when a model was big, it meant more space for the minifigs (and us!) to play around in. Don't be big for bigness' sake. And seriously, what with the limes and the weird colour schemes? (see: AC aliens, power miners, world racers) Can't we have good colour schemes with strong colours? What's the matter with greens, whites, blacks, blues, reds and yellows?

Whatever happened to the LEGO Legends line?
Scorpion replied to Piranha's topic in General LEGO Discussion
To be honest, there are few models that were made with the finger hinges that can't be made nowadays with snap hinges or click hinges... Sure, there will be differences in colours and in some specific parts, but I wouldn't mind if the model was 95% the same... And it's hard to see it wouldn't be profitable. I mean, Mega-Core Magnetizer re-release? It would sell like hotcakes! And someone said the models could be chosen by an online vote, I support that notion! However best-selling legends would be, there are 40+ years of lego backlog and you could only release a few sets per year... -
Sorry to intrude, Bonaparte, but have there been any new developments on this? Just curious, we haven't heard anything new on this for a while...

For me it's Futuron (the first space sets I ever had), Blacktron (specially their second incarnation, with their spherical cockpits), Space Police II (much better than the 3rd incarnation and a notch up from the 1st), Ice Planet 2002 and M:Tron (Helloooo? Mega Core Magnetizer, AKA THE MOST WANTED SET EVAR????). On a side note, I'd also like to see the old "angular" aesthetic come back, with the old octogonal and front windshields come back (obviously converted to the new style hinge). So yay early 90's space! Scorpion

Yeah... I'd love if all those classic lego canopies were modernized and made available again in new sets... Not to mention the old octogonal! -

I second this motion. Modern version? What modern version? -
As vexorian said, you're worried that a theme about ninjas fighting undead samurai biker skeletons with SPINNING!!! is getting ridiculous? It's so over the top now that I think Rule Of Cool applies!

What if Aquazone turned out to be in a water planet seeded with earth sealife? Anyway, one thing about how early 90's and current futuristic themes differ comes from how seriously they take themselves. While the early 90's space themes were played straight, we can see that AC and SP3 have a more "parody" vibe, you know? I mean, Lunar Limo? Sniffer frog? Bug-eyed little green men? The Brickfather?!? Maybe it's NostalgiaVision, but I prefer M-Tron, BlackTron and Space Police to the current crop of Lego Space.

Are you portuguese? (In portuguese, OVNI=UFO)

To be fair, those are not the only two option around. Why not a cartoon-styled war theme? Remember G.I. Joe and the Micromachines' Freedom Force versus Terror Troops (if you don't remember the latter, it consisted of realistic warmachines painted in very garish colourschemes as part of one of the two fictional factionss)? You can't say that those two franchises weren't sucessfull...

LEGO parts made of Chinese plastic?
Scorpion replied to Henchmen4Hire's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Pretty much what it says on the tin. I bought several sets that had the sign that denominated the origin of the lego parts included, and it included parts from various countries and also China. Now, combined with the "horror stories" of substandart lego parts and several faulty (mould lines, malformed or miscast) parts I got in several sets with Chinese parts, I would like to know if there is any way to tell the "Chinese" parts from the other, normal parts. So far, it seems to me that pearly/metallic pieces and several licensed specialized minifig accessories are made in china. But what the hell do I know anyway? So, how could I distinguish chinese parts from the others? -
My name is Scoprion and I aprove this message.

If only they brought back those octogonal cockpits...
