  1. The older SW sets had a lot more character in my opinion, the way older video games with their blocky characters are so much more endearing than the uncanny-valley we're subject to today. The original A-wing was one of my first star wars sets, and one of my favorites. I had two, and along with my three flash speeders were the few duplicates I had. The minifigs were great, I just wish ten year old me had taken better care of them, as in keeping them built in separate boxes and not drawing on them in sharpie... still, old SW sets get me all fuzzy inside. Those were the good ol' days.
  2. Do you mean... terran?
  3. Dirt farmer eh? I think you mean moisture farmer :P
  4. Looks wacky I like how dynamic it is, especially things like the rowboat at an angle in the water.
  5. All I see are greeblies. Are there any pictures of the overall shape from a top/side angle?
  6. I just read this thread then came in here and /facepalmed. anyway, What kind of ship is it supposed to be?
  7. Looks like a good creation overall, but a bit too uniform for a lego set, at least color-wise. I don't know if it's your goal to make all your creations look like official lego models or what, but that's just my opinion.
  8. I have seen some truly horrible MOCs on this website and others, and all they get is praise, never even constructive criticism or anything. All this guy did was say he was bored, and the whole rest of the thread goes downhill because the first replier had some kind of problem. I wonder how many MOCs were born out of pure boredom? It's not like his little diorama there was even particularly bad. At least some effort was put into it, it looks like. edit: and another thing I noticed mostly in the SW forums, there's never any discussion, at least in MOC threads. It's always just pages of people going "yeah, what he said".
  9. there are 74 in the Grand Carousel. guess lego are becoming less stingy with their jewels.
  10. I like how the bottom of the tower is rough and unfinished, and as it goes up it gets more refined. Good job!
  11. This has to be the second or third (awesome) vig that you've built with goblins in it, that you can't see the goblin's face at all :p
  12. Does the tri-droid have 2x4 tiles?
  13. Looks really clean and uniform, but is definitely a good start for something potentially awesome. The additional huts are cool as well.
  14. I'd like to see a new version of the X-wing, using the 3x12 wedge plates for the wings to make longer slimmer wings, and not use the specially-made star wars pieces like the cannons (I don't know if the engines are new or what)
  15. I'd like to see lego take castle and fantasy into two separate directions. Redirect castle to be more like medieval market, and take things like trolls, elves, etc and let them populate their own theme. The thing about this would be the purist castle fans would be happy, and while the fantasy theme could still incorporate castle-like elements (towers etc) it would be open to more than just factions and their respective forts. What I'm thinking of is something like the turn-based strategy video games Heroes of Might and Magic, if anybody here has heard of them. Personally, they took up a lot of my time as a child if for no other reason than the different towns and their creatures. The basic premise is, there's a variety of towns you can build up with castles and buildings that have different attributes, and you use the town to build up an army of creatures that would populate that town and use them to take over other player's stuff. I really loved these games (specifically HoMM3) because of all the creatures you could have in your ranks. There was the "castle" town that had the basic archers, pikemen, cavaliers, and also angels. Then there was the necromancer town (my favorite) that had the skeletons and zombies and ghosts and liches. Sounds similar to recent LEGO castle lines, right? among the others (I'll stick to the ones from 3 but there are five full titles and their expansions out now) there was a hellish town that had imps, hell hounds, and devils. A fort town built like a celtic encampment, with wooden buildings and log walls on a grassy hill, that had centaurs, pegasii, dwarves, and tree creatures. Plus a few others. The point is these are the kinds of creatures and sets that could be included in a fantasy lego line. Buildings with odd architecture populated by mythical creatures. Different enough to be its own line, but still able to cross over and work with castle sets nicely if you wanted. Many towns had dragons, but I'm sure you're all sick of those by now... Anyway, onto the elves. the fifth game had an interesting take on elves, as they had a special race that lived underground that used poisons and whips in their arsenals. They used a lot of purples and greens and the architecture involved a lot of arches and crystal formations. It would be a good enemy for the tree dwelling elves if they need one, or for anybody. here's a link to a very thorough site about the games I was talking about, it'll show you all the different towns and creatures so you can get an idea what I'm saying.
