  1. I agree, it gives it added detail. A very nice creation!
  2. Fantastic! I have a friend who lives in Paris and he regularly talks about his trips to work on that train. Now I know what it looks like. You did a great job especially considering it is your first train MOC!
  3. I thought I had already praised this one but I guess not. This really is a great model. The colors and overall shape are spot on and I really like the front too. The lights and orange line are a great detail!
  4. Yup, that's the one. I think that would be great Great job Rapseflaps! I will add your completed sets to the index and I will give you an update about the vehicles as soon as possible.
  5. Fantastic! That was one of my favorite sets. Thanks for the feedback on the monorail. I will see if I can improve it some more today. Do you think you could tweak the CAD model of 7838 so that it looks like it did on the cover of the box (the waggon dumping 1x1 round bricks and some yellow boxes outside)? I think the additional "action" would be pretty neat. Here is one GIF I made last weekend, which I included in the index but forgot to post here. Check out the waiter. GIF XML : 6376 Breezeway Cafe
  6. If you are referring to the door Frame, I have that as part 3644 in LDraw and part 59443 for the axle joiner inline smooth. Maybe I have them because I also installed the unofficial parts? EDIT 03.10.09: I have finallized the monorail points. Check out my post dated 03.10.09 to see both the left and right versions. Before: After:
  7. Figured I should post the baseplates that I have for space so far. Unfortulately the LDraw parts library doesn't have any of the specialy printed and raised 32x32 baseplates. Guess this will have to do for now.
  8. That is fantastic! I had forgotten about that line of sets. Thanks for your contribution! Like aawsum mentioned, send me a PM message with the peeron set numbers you want to build, together with the peeron names/descriptions, and I will add them to the "under construction" list for you. I just got back from work again (the Lego gods must be punishing me), but I will at least add all the new new contributions to the Index so that everyone has an overview. I will be able to catch up with the rest over the weekend. Happy building!
  9. You can check out the tutorial video that Aawsum mentioned by klicking on the link in my signature. Tutorial 3 is the one you need but it focuses more on creating the XML file that goes with the GIF. The tips that the other guys gave you should hopefully bring you up to the point where the video starts. Aawsum has kindly translated the English video callouts into Dutch, and I am planning on adding the translated texts to the vids by the end of the week (hopefully one a day...from today). Sorry it is taking a while but the day job has had to take priority. I really don't think you will have any problem with the English videos though. The texts are a bit quick to keep the video under the YouTube 11 minute limit so you might have to rewind a few times. Vals je nog vragen hebt kan jij ons ook een PM sturen. Gr. Alex EDIT: 23:30... just finished the last meeting for the day (not like there was time left to squeeze in another). I will try to the first tutorial done in NL tomorrow evening. A quick thanks to FreeBee for making the great new 12V track pieces.
  10. Hi Bryan that is a great looking train! As it happens I have the same problem with my BR50 steam locomotive and mentioned this in the Flickr Lego trains group. I have read that the O-rings from the Emerald fit, but the original Lego drivers apparently also have ridges so that the rings don't slip off. I don't actually own an Emerald or have any of the wheels so someone else would have to confirm this. It does seem that the Lego O-Rings come off the BBB wheels rather quickly. I have heard that the O-rings make the train move around a lot at speed so you might just want to leave them off. Most guys simply put extra weight over the driving wheels to gain traction. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a real solution for the large drivers yet but you could just check out your local hardware store. User Savatheaggie posted a blog on Railbricks.com about aftermarket O-rings for some of the smaller wheels a while back. In my case the problem isn't so bad that I need to deal with it, but if you find a solution it would be great to hear about it!
  11. Now that is cool! Great job on the engine and a really nice color combination!
  12. Hi! You're in the same position as so many other folk. It sucks... I know. All my lego is in storage and my job keeps me on the road from Monday to Friday every week so this virtual stuff is ideal... and your not limited by space. I will be adding more baseplates soon and I'll make sure I complete the classic and blacktron2 first. Check out this thread every once in a while for updates! Let me know if there are any specific sets that you would want in GIF format. It is easy to do yourself if you have ever used MLCad. There is a video tutorial on how to put the GIFs made in MLCad into BlueBrick. If there are any computer savvy AFOLs out there who want to make GIFs, leave a post in this thread!
  13. Really nice! Great over all shape and colors. I don't even recognize those yellow/black panels. Very nice! The brown doors are a great use of parts. Don't think I have seen those on a train before. Yet again a great creation!
  14. It might be imaginary but it looks good to me! I really like the color combo and the yellow line. I recognize that classic space window at the front. Good luck with the competition! Aawsum might be right, the white balance is off a bit, check out the instructions that came with your camera to set it manually. White ballance is often tricky indoors with artificial lighting. Still, knowing it is red... I like it!
  15. Thanks for noticing!
  16. I hadn't planned on doing this GIF for a while but when I read this review yesterday I felt inspired. I never owned this set but it was on my wish list for a long time as a kid. Great review and thanks for all the pics! GIF XML : 6376 Breezeway Cafe The GIF and XML are for the BlueBrick layout designer. If you aren't familiar with it check out the index link below.
  17. This is a great topic. I just read throught the Flickr discussion as well. From what I can figure (and correct me if I am wrong), one could also leave out the RC controler if one could live with the trains all going in one direction. Cheap, high torque PF motors without all the expensive RC add-ons and no battery limitations. Very, very tempting!
  18. A very nice creation! I agree with the picture size, and I would recommend having a bit more light infront and less at the of the model to really show off those colors. Good luck with the competition! I will check out the brickshelf pics as soon as the folder is public.
  19. Your first MOCed train? Can't wait to see what you come up with next! Good luck with the competition!
  20. Now that is really innovative! I love how you managed to intigrate so many castle parts/details. The 2x2 round plates for the smoke is something I have never seen before. Very clever through and through!
  21. Really, really nice! I really should try building a diesel one of these days. I just posted a comment on your Flickr page.
  22. Brilliant design. Despite all the great details and colors I think it is the angles that make this model stand out above the rest.
  23. Hehehe, looks like I am the only one who would like to make virtual space layouts. I have to admit, the more I play around with it the more I am looking forward to making more sets. Here is a quick example layout that I made (yes I know, the monorail probably wouldn't be able to make the incline from the ground station to the top...i don't actually own one by the way). There are new GIFs in there which I have not posted so if you would like them let me know.
  24. I have just uploaded more GIFs with retro-fitted vehicles and minifigs. Sets 6378, 6365, 6360, 6541 , 6952 and 6380. Just a few more to go! EDIT 22.09.09: As there was no reaction to the post which I had originally written here, I chose not to make any further modifications to part 2859 and made a mirrored copy for part 2681. The original XMLs should work just fine as there were no changes to the size or shape of the parts extremities. 25. That's amazing. the GIF factory seems to be running at maximum efficiency! I will add them to the index this evening. I have not been able to do much recently but I have added minifigs and vehicles, and improved the xmls for the following sets... 4555, 4553, 4565, 7824, 6542, 7822 and 6699. I even included the ships/boats in 6542. Let me know what you guys think.... ...and I made a new 6399 Airport Shuttle to complete the replacements for the original BlueBrick/Track Designer parts.
